I shopped at H-E-B Mueller today after dropping my kids off at school, and the store looks absolutely beautiful with all the flowers right now! Store is clean and organized. I especially want to shout out Isaiah in Produce. What a true gentleman with a great heart. He helped me find fruits that would help my wife while she's sick, and he even looked up other grocery items around the store for me. He went above and beyond. I honestly thought he was a manager because of the way he was giving directions to another employee -- he carries himself with leadership and confidence. Thank you! This store is a complete disaster! They should have just left it alone. Ever since they remodeled it you can't find anything. Nothing about the layout makes sense and you will be in there walking around forever to get anything. So knowing that I decided to do curbside and save myself from the hot mess that is the Hancock HEB now. Well, that didn't help either! I drove around the parking lot looking for the curbside spots forever and there were contradicting arrow signs indicating where to go. I finally asked an employee who was getting the carts. He said it's by the BBQ side. WRONG! I eventually had to park my car, and go inside and ask where are the curbside spots?! I was told they are around the building. You literally have to leave the HEB entirely and turn into 24 Hour Fitness and weave back behind it to find a random parking lot. I'm so over this location. Sorry. The employees are wonderful and the groceries are good but this layout is a disaster. read more

This location is currently under a remodel and man is it annoying. Everything is extremely difficult to find and I can never find anyone on the floor to help me. It took me the ENTIRE trip to find the relish. Which was on the pharmacy side by the check outs. No where near any other condiments. I will update my review once this remodel is done. HEB Mueller does a great job in general. I recently ordered from their bakery department and found them to be extremely easy to work with overall. I was surprised our cake only costs $20 for the size and how much went on it. Keep up the great work HEB! read more

I really like this H-E-B location! There's so much here: a bar, restaurants, ready made meals, ready to cook meals, and everything else an HEB always has. I think I like this location more than my normal store! There's ready to cook meal selection is huge, and the meals are really good! Store is clean and well-staffed. Service is friendly and efficient. It's in Austin, so bring your bags or pay around 23 cents a bag. At least they are hefty, reusable bags. If only I could ever remember to reuse them! read more

HEB is an experience itself, but the HEB in Mueller is unlike any other. In addition to the standard grocery store offerings, there's also a food court and a mini dining hall. Weird flex, but bringing friends here might be the move -- there's a variety of food options and beer, and if that doesn't work, they can always head inside to grab something from the store instead. Dear HEB: Your bathrooms are literally TERRIFYING! Truly. When I'm here on Wednesdays for Trivia, it's around 3 hours or more. I'm going to need to use the restroom. HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD - they're so disgusting! Ok, that being said, here's how I feel about the rest of Mueller HEB: There is NO off time really to shop here. It's always crowded. I try to get there super early or late before closing to shop, but it's always crowded and it seems like there's some sort of memo I didn't get that you have to be really angry or in a horrible rush and everyone else is awful to shop here. Most of the cashiers aren't friendly. Remember going to the grocery store and the cashiers were kind and tested the waters on conversations and such? Remember when the front end managers were on the ball? *sigh Those were the days! The selection here is excellent and there are tons of items to choose from in all varieties. If you need it, it's most likely here. I got command strip mop hangers, tortillas (best flour tortillas that I didn't make), some grapes and hair ties. That's a pretty wide variety and it's all here. The wine and beer selection is stellar. (It's Austin, so it has to be, right?) The bar area: Love it! It's great, all the bartenders are absolutely wonderful and I have zero complaints here (Seriously, this is such a great spot to sit with friends and the bartenders truly are great!) The food court: great choices, great food and really nice staff in each restaurant. There's everything from pizza to BBQ, to Asian, to burgers, to duck fat friend chicken. Great HEB location if you live in the Mueller or East Austin neighborhoods! Produce and meat are fresh, and everything is clean and well-stocked. I also love that they have fresh food available now with the restaurants and bars in the food court. Really nice touch if you just want something quick! There's also plenty of parking available in the free lot in front, but make sure you don't go during peak hours, otherwise you'll be parking far from the doors. With that being said, this HEB location has become my go-to! read more

Walked in to stock up for the week and I now understand the HEB hype. They have extensive selection, especially for meat and produce/dairy, and many other categories of food stuffs. Huge pro. Cons, well it's very busy and you might get shoulder bumped a few times with no regard lol. It's a mad house at times and by the time you reach a register anybody helping you may be emotionally checked out, which is totally understandable given how busy it gets. Afterward I realized there was small food spots and a bar inside this HEB as well, so I picked up a hot chicken sandwich and got hooked up with this beast I had to take a picture of. This one was a recent new add to a brand new community in Mueller district. They (residents) are so lucky to have this one just walking g distance. Doesn't matter how busy or slow they are, you will wait atleast 40mins for your curbside order if not more... total lack of urgency and has consistently been the case in the 5 + times I've opted for curbside pickup, better off getting out and shopping for your items yourself. Parking is a complete and utter disaster, and the staff is generally unconcerned and not friendly. This place is in a great location and the selection of food is not bad however. Curbside is massively understaffed because this store serves a much larger area than it was ever designed for, due to the lack of any stores further east in Austin, so everyone to the east and in Del Valle has to go here or 7th St. My curbside orders are consistently late or rescheduled almost every single time. And when the order is ready and I arrive, there is zero available parking spaces and people yelling at each other about who got in line first to get the next available curbside space. Disappointed is an understatement, but not for the reasons you may think. It is more expensive than other locations, has lots of produce with mold or on its way to being spoiled, and the energy was suffocating with a general malaise. With that being said, it wasn't the employees -- they were lovely, accommodating & I enjoy HEB (5 out of 5 for them). It was the customers. They all seem like dissatisfied & brow beaten people, who all dress alike, some still wearing masks. And, I'm going to further guess it's the (woke) neighborhood & surrounding businesses that make the people project this gross, unnerving energy. Funny thing to support this point, when I arrived there were carts messily abandoned all over the parking lot. Not just a few, everywhere. Three near where I parked, so I walked over to return 2 & take 1. The front left wheel of 2 of them wouldn't budge no matter which way I turned or pulled them. Determined, I balanced each on one wheel but it felt like both carts were being pulled back to the ground the whole way. I finished, took the one cart with a front left wheel that wobbled but was manageable. On my way in, I tried a couple other carts & noticed they wouldn't budge from their spot or were stuck to the cart in front of it, so I kept the wobbly one that ended-up magically working perfectly throughout my time in the store. As I exited the store & placed all my things in my car, the moment, I kid you not, the exact moment I turned to return the cart, the same front left wheel locked-up so badly it wouldn't move or budge at all. Again, determined as I am, I balanced it on one wheel bringing it back to the turnstile. And, again, the cart felt like it was being pulled forcibly back to the bum wheel like a magnet. I fixed the carts & left. As I drove away, I considered how someone(thing) wants to frustrate people to encourage laziness, leaving carts abandoned all over a parking lot in an expensive neighborhood because 99 out of 100 people wouldn't put in the effort I did Who would want people to feel defeated in ATX? They run several in store restaurants/food stands and then an in store bar featuring Texas whiskeys, Texas vodka (Dripping Springs) and Austin area microbrew -- all in your local HEB. Very convenient. Great for local residents. I hope this concept spreads to more HEBs. read more

This location closes too many registers too soon, so there's almost always a long line to check out. It seems like a game for the employees to see how few registers they can have open in the self-checkout section before customers complain. On that note, the employees at this location generally seem unconcerned and often talk to customers in a flippant and sometimes even disdainful way. I suspect there are management issues at this location as I don't experience this at other locations. Often entire sections of an aisle will be in shambles or even just empty. Always check your Meal Simples because they're often close to expiring (which is odd because there's always a low stock on the shelves -- almost like inventory is just not being put out). Produce can be hit or miss as well. At night this place becomes a zoo. One time a man brought in an aggressive breed dog that just kept loudly barking at other customers -- no employees or security guards did anything about it. It seemed this person was a friend of an employee since he stood there chatting with one of the cashiers as his dog continue barking at people. Parking is often frustrating as the lot is constantly full. Thankfully some improvements have been made with stop signs to make it less dangerous but it's still dicey. The fuel station often has pumps out of service so you'll often be waiting in line to get fuel, too. I want to reiterate how frustrating it is to be standing in a 20 person deep line and seeing over half of the self-checkout registers closed for no apparent reason. Spout's doesn't seem to have this problem so I've just been shopping there instead. read more

I don't frequent this store often, but I do when I'm in the area. It's not fun shopping anywhere during the pandemic, but this store makes it about as pleasant as it can be. Friendly staff, ample selections, and refrigerated item cases sealed off with easy-to-open doors add reassurance. A big draw here is that they have gas at reasonable prices. While it's definitely not the cheapest in town, it's on par with local prices. At least they don't pull fast ones like the nearby Exxon at Berkman and 51st where the lowball price requires purchase of an expensive car wash. I can't comment on the curbside because I use a store much closer to home. However, to pick up the occasional stray item, this store can't be beat if you're in the area. Recommended. read more

My favorite HEB. It's super fancy, items always in stock. Has a sushi bar, cheese bar, deli, meat and seafood markets, great selection of wines and a bakery. It's well lit and feels clean. There's various restaurants near the entrance as well. When I worked near the area, I used to pick up fresh salads or packed sushi for lunch, they were always good. read more

This review is for the meat department only. I love this HEB for everything else, but the flank steakI brought home today wasn't butchered... It was massacred. I asked for it to be cut super super thin, 1/8th of an inch, or thinner if possible, and was told "ok". I ended up with a bunch of 1 inch wide, 3/4 inch thick, very long strips of meat. See the pictures below for what I unwrapped when I got home vs what it should have looked like. A different guy came up and asked if I needed anything else, and then cut some pork belly for me. He advised me that he wouldn't be able to cut it as thin as I'd requested because they don't have a deli slicer. That was completely fine... I'm ok with being told no if it's not possible to get what I asked for so I can decide whether to go ahead or go elsewhere, but having the other guy say "ok" and then do something completely different was very frustrating. (Adding one star for the guy who listened to what I said asked if I was ok with it being thicker.) Anything other than the butcher's counter is great, but I've never seen meat cut this badly before. read more

Let me begin by saying the staff here is the best! They just need more of them! This is a smaller store, but has a good variety of items. Produce is very good...or old and wilted/rotting. This is true with cheeses in the deli as well. Nothing worse than opening a cheese that needs a shave! Parking can be a challenge. I go to this HEB often because it's close, I love the staff , and I can usually get what I came for. read more

Instacart charged me for an annual membership when I wanted a monthly subscription and since I placed an order at the same time I was paying for a monthly subscription, their policy is no refunds EVER. I am forced to do monthly because I am an 82 year old senior living on a pitiful SS check and can't afford to pay anyone $99 all at once. There actually is another reason I prefer to pay monthly because when they deliver poor service I can stop using them. Sadly, they deliver at more places than anyone else so I keep coming back. Bad me! Every single time I use instacart - they mess up my order and with their policy - once I place an order I can never get a refund NEVER! They are robots and cannot override their computer policy! BEWARE!!!!! HEB I think perhaps you need to think twice about allowing Instacart to shop your stores - bad for business! read more

I love this HEB location. There usually is tons of food here when there isn't a pandemic going on. However, during a pandemic, it is what nightmares are made out of, unfortunately. The store is sometimes super strict and other times lax with how many people are allowed in the store. One day I was here, the store was packed!!!! Every aisle I went down would just be people in their masks who think that wearing one is all the protection they need. Which means they would be on top of each other. Mind you, there mask is only covering their mouth. That is another rant for business. I couldn't stand it and went to the car while my husband finished up grocery shopping. I have liked going to this HEB in the past and hope that once the pandemic is done it will get back to the good old days. I hate this store. Its filled with junk food and processed foods, and only has a very small selection of organic produce and meats. I fail to understand why all the items they make in house are filled with ingredients I can not even pronounce, aka preservatives and additives. My fav thing about the store is the massive cigarette displays prominently placed at the end of the check out stands. Its great how they are more concerned over profit grabbing then the health of Austinites. Why are you the only store in Austin that charges for bags, and then it's a plastic bag to boot, that is so very eco friendly. I simply refuse to shop here, and prefer Whole Foods. read more

While I love HEB and was thrilled when this one opened, it's now among my least favorite locations. I'll go out of my way to avoid the Mueller location, with the exception of weekday mornings. Every holiday, every weekend, most afternoons, and every time really bad weather is predicted, the store is over capacity. Even when all of the cashiers seem to be open, weekend lines can extend so far down the aisles that it's difficult to get a cart through. While the recent addition of self check lines should help, I'd rather go to Fiesta or the larger Hancock HEB, where there are more cashiers. Not surprisingly, the parking lot is also inadequate for the volume of customers who visit this store during peak periods. The store will get still more crowded as nearby apartments are completed and occupied. Another nearby quality grocery store would help alleviate the overcrowding, but Mueller real estate is expensive and HEB has a non-compete agreement that prevents any other large grocers in the neighborhood. At the moment, there's no end in sight to the crowding...so I will do my part to help fix the problem by going elsewhere. read more

DO NOT... This specific H-E-B is a mess. Rude employees, extremely crowded with very little checkout staff, and minimum 30 min wait for the pharmacy. The sushi guy is smoking on the side and his counterpart has headphones in so nobody is reasonable. Tried to ask a simple question about where are the advertised items (spring rolls, etc) and the young employees will tell you "I'm new and dunno". You call them to at least report that the employee literally has headphones on and says f*ck off. Furthermore, if you order curbside they'll give you everything that is about to expire within 24-48 hours. Go to Fiesta around the corner instead of this disaster. read more
