Pretty big HEB, for the city. It's 2 levels with a parking garage under it. Love how they have the red lights above so you can see that a car is in that spot. And the green lights show that it's an empty spot. It's a genius display to locate an empty spot. Wish all parking garages had that. This HEB has a BBQ restaurant on the first floor aligned with the parking garage. The second floor is the grocery store. If you grab a cart on the first floor, the cart goes on it's on escalator. But if you don't grab a cart, they have some on the second floor. The lay out is the same as the other HEB's. Produce in the front, and meats in the back. Was actually looking for Texas themed items. All HEB's have pretty much the same, but some have really cool Texas stuff. I actually didn't find another different than my own local HEB. But other than that. It's a nice clean HEB.

I love this new (newly renovated I guess) location. I can remember vividly the old one and wow this place is miles above that one. It's huge! It's really nice to be able to walk around and not get jammed up in aisles with other shoppers. Like total stress-free shopping experience. Lots and lots of selections that kinda make it overwhelming but that's ok because I can easily acclimate to this.

Amazing mural artwork, all throughout the store.

Pro Tip: make sure to clip your virtual coupons ahead of time on the HEB app (there are often freebies, including whole meal freebies). HEB will be offering a weekly meal deal, at all locations. This week is a purchase of family-sized lasagna, with a bag of salad, cookies and canned green beans for free. We visited on the first Sunday that this HEB is open and, despite the tons of traffic, the staff is doing a great job with providing services and support to all the customers. All hands on deck! Wow. Worth the great anticipation, HEB is blowing us away with the outcome. Literally anything you need is here, including public services (like bus passes). Right across from a church, you can knock out all your Sunday obligations in one shot! No coffee shop, but you have tons to choose from, such as right across the way at Freddo's and Toasty Badger.

I finally got to check out the inside of the new H-E-B. I absolutely love their parking garage. I definitely will be visiting this H-E-B if it is raining. Easy to follow signs and directions. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the inside of the H-E-B is the exact same layout as the H-E-B on South Congress and slaughter. It was easy to find all my groceries and although it was busy, it didn't feel crowded. I absolutely love the new store. Nice job.

My girlfriend wanted to try the wine and the guy Josh looked at her Mexican Consular Card and said it was fake. Please inform your employees that the U.S is not the only country with valid ID's. I actually like HEB the brand, but people like Josh spoil the fun for everyone.

I have since returned to HEB Soco and the BBQ was so much better. They must have read my review, haha, and corrected the issue I had.

Great store and very different with the parking garage situation. Never seen an escalator for shopping carts.

I also wasn't much of a meat eater back in those days, so I mostly had tried their sides. Now we're both on keto, so we go for just the meat. The meat was some of the best I've had lately! If I had one criticism, the brisket was just the slightest bit dry, but it had the perfect amount of fat to still make it taste good, and the smoky flavor was perfect! The turkey was moist, and probably my favorite part of the meal. We didn't order sides, but the included pickles were better than standard. It was rainy when we went there, so everyone was packed inside. There were barely enough tables. Their outside seating is not covered. There was no line, and my husband had finished our order by the time I had shaken out my umbrella. The air conditioning was a little too cold for a rainy day. The parking lot is all designated handicapped parking, but we got street parking right next to the building. Since we live on the east side, Micklethwait is convenient, and it has earned a place among our favorite places to go eat!

Luckily, there was no line, so I was able to order right away. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are really nice. If I hadn't been on the road, I probably would have stayed and hung out a little longer, but I ended up getting takeout instead. The Tex-Czech sausage was one of the most delicious sausages I've had at a BBQ restaurant. I absolutely loved the melted cheese inside the sausage. The brisket also hit the spot, and the sauce was amazing. My only wish, or small complaint, is the portion size. It feels like shrinkflation may be part of it, and it's definitely not cheap. But for a once-in-a-while treat, Micklethwait is absolutely worth it.

I thought it was odd that they would be closed on weekends when people have the time to shop along with being closed before people get off work. But those hours make sense when you realize they produce for distribution, not dine in. There's almost 30 reviews so far, but I was surprised that not a single one of them included any photos. If you're coming to this part of town, parking is always a concern in this area. The good news is that there are about eight places to park at here, otherwise you'll have to park in the street, but at least there's no kiosks. As soon as you pull in, the air is filled with that familiar smoky aroma. However, once you step inside, you suddenly realize that this is not a place you can dine in. Basically the first 10 feet of hallway is where the customer service takes place. There is a cold case with all of their sausages on display, including a little beef jerky, and that's it. I have to admit I wish they had brisket and ribs too. They do make a tamale-based sausage for Christmas as a seasonal item. The prices are very reasonable and there is no tip screen. This is not just a grab and go operation, their sausages can be found in virtually every H-E-B. So the good news is that you can find them here or at your favorite H-E-B. Absolutely abysmal experience…read more I purchased a whole pig to roast for a charity fundraiser. Called a month in advance to secure product. Checked in weekly on pick up date but especially pick up condition, (fully thawed). A few days before pick up i was informed they picked the pig up early and there was a risk of spoilage if it wasn't refrozen. Complete shock as we had spoken twice that very week and that was never mentioned. I said if they needed to freeze the pig in the meantime to ensure quality, fine but I still needed it thawed on pick up. Pick up= associate can't locate the animal, price was not what we agreed to, and they found it "in the very back corner of the freezer". Counter associate said "I just work here, they don't tell me anything" Needless to say, working with Hudson meat market was the biggest mistake. Even with over communication on my part, they just couldn't have cared less.

We've had a few deer processed there over the years and I can say this last one we dropped off in January for youth season was disgusting. But unfortunately the BBQ, which should be the star of the show, just didn't quite hit the mark for me. I came in hoping to try one of their lunch specials, only to find out they had recently discontinued them. I almost left but the staff kindly honored the deal anyway, which definitely turned things around in the moment. I ordered the chopped beef sandwich with garlic parmesan fries. While the food wasn't bad, it lacked the depth of flavor I expect from Central Texas BBQ. Even with sauce it didn't deliver that rich smokiness or bold seasoning I'm used to. That said, maybe I just chose the wrong dish. Their menu does have some intriguing options like crispy duck, ribs, an elk burger, and a full bar. I might give them another try during happy hour or if I'm nearby, but I wouldn't make a special trip just for the BBQ.

Izzy was our server and we had a great experience. I love that for a Michelin star location it can be luxurious without being stuffy, For appetizers we had the flautas which are the best crisp, full of flavor with an amazing broth. We also ordered the craw fish (essentially empanadas) and they were... okay, too heavy and the peas just did not do anything for the dish. For entrees we went with their shrimp à la plancha and their meatballs. Both were delicious. The pickles and the sauce paired to well with the meatballs and the shrimp were full of flavor and the crisp of the potatoes added a nice touch. Instead of a cocktail I tried their local limeade a sparkling delight! They also have a very cool store front where you can get all kinds of meats and coffee and signed books by the main chef. I would have tried the food as well, but I had dinner plans elsewhere and it's a little pricey so I didn't get anything. That said, the guy next to me got one of their steaks and said it was one of the best he'd had, so that's high praise! I got a small glass (like 2 ounces) of the mead which is $5. It's expensive for how little you get but the flavor is just lovely -- as good as any dessert wine I've had! I could definitely drink a glass of it any time. They have lots of tables inside but the parking is a little limited outside. The day I came there was plenty because it was early and it was still pretty empty inside (just one or two other groups there), but on a busy night I imagine you'd end up having to get street parking nearby or something. Bathrooms were immaculate in here though, and the ambiance is nice! Not "super fancy," but definitelty more upscale than casual. Overall it strikes me as a nice date spot! A little expensive, but I'm sure the food is great, and can confirm the drinks are definitely very nice.
