Pretty big HEB, for the city. It's 2 levels with a parking garage under it. Love how they have the red lights above so you can see that a car is in that spot. And the green lights show that it's an empty spot. It's a genius display to locate an empty spot. Wish all parking garages had that. This HEB has a BBQ restaurant on the first floor aligned with the parking garage. The second floor is the grocery store. If you grab a cart on the first floor, the cart goes on it's on escalator. But if you don't grab a cart, they have some on the second floor. The lay out is the same as the other HEB's. Produce in the front, and meats in the back. Was actually looking for Texas themed items. All HEB's have pretty much the same, but some have really cool Texas stuff. I actually didn't find another different than my own local HEB. But other than that. It's a nice clean HEB.

I love this new (newly renovated I guess) location. I can remember vividly the old one and wow this place is miles above that one. It's huge! It's really nice to be able to walk around and not get jammed up in aisles with other shoppers. Like total stress-free shopping experience. Lots and lots of selections that kinda make it overwhelming but that's ok because I can easily acclimate to this.

Amazing mural artwork, all throughout the store.

Pro Tip: make sure to clip your virtual coupons ahead of time on the HEB app (there are often freebies, including whole meal freebies). HEB will be offering a weekly meal deal, at all locations. This week is a purchase of family-sized lasagna, with a bag of salad, cookies and canned green beans for free. We visited on the first Sunday that this HEB is open and, despite the tons of traffic, the staff is doing a great job with providing services and support to all the customers. All hands on deck! Wow. Worth the great anticipation, HEB is blowing us away with the outcome. Literally anything you need is here, including public services (like bus passes). Right across from a church, you can knock out all your Sunday obligations in one shot! No coffee shop, but you have tons to choose from, such as right across the way at Freddo's and Toasty Badger.

I finally got to check out the inside of the new H-E-B. I absolutely love their parking garage. I definitely will be visiting this H-E-B if it is raining. Easy to follow signs and directions. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the inside of the H-E-B is the exact same layout as the H-E-B on South Congress and slaughter. It was easy to find all my groceries and although it was busy, it didn't feel crowded. I absolutely love the new store. Nice job.

My girlfriend wanted to try the wine and the guy Josh looked at her Mexican Consular Card and said it was fake. Please inform your employees that the U.S is not the only country with valid ID's. I actually like HEB the brand, but people like Josh spoil the fun for everyone.

I have since returned to HEB Soco and the BBQ was so much better. They must have read my review, haha, and corrected the issue I had.

Great store and very different with the parking garage situation. Never seen an escalator for shopping carts.

We came, completely on a whim (like, we were driving by and just pulled in), for lunch this past Saturday and had such fabulous time. It feels like "old Austin" has frozen in time here. The place reeks of fish (ofc!) and the whole vibe is this odd-like Margaritaville-hospital cafeteria-fish market mash up. Magically, it all somehow works. We ordered at the counter and happily sat at the table with our beers taking the whole scene in. If we're being honest, the food is just OK. The fried catfish that our daughter ordered honestly tasted like it had been refrozen and it was bland. Our fresh fish--the blackened drum and the grilled trout--were excellent, though, so that made it for it in the piscine category. As for side, there were highs and there were lows. We doubt that they make the hush puppies from scratch, but damn, they were good. We were also happy with the fried okra and the spaghetti squash that they had on special. Green beans are wet and canned, and the side salad is the usual bagged kind of stuff. Actually, they had this very unique mac-n-cheese situation that was made with spaghetti(!) and had a broiled cheese lid that we were not mad at. We're not going to pretend that this was any kind of A+ "quality seafood" situation. It's not. But there is a VIBE and we were there for it and there is a massive shark that is hanging from the ceiling wearing Mardi Gras beads. C'mon! This is the Austin we know and love! We will be back--whether to buy fish or for taco night or who knows, but we will be back. Four grateful stars.

It was grilled trout topped with crabmeat. Fish was cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was creamy and hot. The fried okra was hot and fresh. The blackened catfish was perfectly seasoned. The collards were ok. The only negative is that the wine was $7 in a tiny glass. When asked about buying a bottle we were told it was $18 plus an additional $7 corkage fee. Quality is aptly named.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: When I say Vietnamese-style, it's only because most of the internal signage is in vietnamese. It has every asian countries ingredients from China/Korea/Vietnam to The Philippines and indonesia. You can find some really good pricing here on those staples. Fresh produce aisle is a bit limiting. Pretty big seafood area and meat. Walking to your far left side are all the kitchen toolware if you want to level up your kitchen game. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Always enjoy my time here at MT supermarket. Lots of ingredients you won't find at a 99 Ranch or H Mart.

My favorite market. They even have alcohol, dishes, candles, other houseware supplies, and some basic American products. Prices area generally competitive, some much better than others. My main complaint is that it can be overwhelming, especially when you're trying to find one specific thing. The other issue is that so many items have mislabeled prices or none at all. This can be challenging when you're trying to stay in budget while faced with more options that you can imagine. Also, fresh prepared items don't necessarily have their ingredients listed which can be scary for less adventurous eaters. The store is generally easy to navigate even through some cluttered set ups.

Austin doesn't have many great seafood restaurants so I'm so happy that this place exists!!! 4-5:30…read moreis happy hour and my group basically ordered one of every app that was on HH. The buttered crab fingers were SO damn good we ordered another. The smoked trout dip was lovely. The shishitos were surprisingly spicy but I enjoyed that. The fried oyster slider was only fine, and I would probably skip that going forward (I think it's a Gulf oyster). But the raw East Coast oysters were delicious! Mains: i tried the lobster orrechiette ($46 on the day I was there) and one of the specials of the day, a pompano with kabocha and gailan. Both were great but I really especially loved the creamy lobster pasta. After a long week at work, it just really hit the spot. For dessert, we tried the pot du (chocolate) crème, the flourless chocolate torte, and the olive oil cake with blackberry sauce. My favorite was the pot du crème which was so smooth and decadent. The flourless chocolate torte felt a little lost under all the cream, and the olive oil cake was just a little too sweet for my tastes. But others in my group loved those ones. This place is so unassuming from the outside but so so lovely on the inside.

A Seafood Lover's Dream -- Fresh, Soulful, Unforgettable…read more If you haven't yet discovered Mongers Market + Kitchen, consider this your sign to go -- and go soon. After just one visit, it's easy for me to understand why the buzz refuses to die down. The Food: Fresh, Chef-Driven, and Exceptional Mongers lives and breathes quality seafood, and it shows in every single dish. Daily fish specials, like the superb halibut with lemon tarragon beurre blanc sauce I had today, keep the menu feeling alive and seasonal, and the creatively curated menu selections are outstanding. Every dish feels intentional, ingredient-forward, and deeply satisfying. The Atmosphere: Casual Meets Upscale The space strikes a balance that isn't easy to pull off -- unobtrusively nautical-themed and cozy without veering into kitschy territory, rustic without feeling rough around the edges. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a relaxed date night or an intimate dinner with close friends. The warm lighting, close-set tables, and unhurried pace create an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down, order another round of oysters, and stay a while. Small touches--coastal blue tinted water glasses, discreet deco lamps on the exquisitely tiled bar--further convey the establishment's understated, Austin-aligned elegance. The Service: Knowledgeable and Genuinely Attentive The staff here know their seafood, and they're happy to talk about it. Whether you're debating between the crudo and the fish special or trying to navigate the market's fresh offerings, the team brings a friendly confidence and attentiveness that elevates the whole experience. They're the kind of servers who enhance your meal rather than simply facilitate it. The Market: A Bonus Worth Celebrating One of Mongers' most charming features is its retail market component, where you can take home fresh fish and prepared items on your way out. It's a thoughtful touch that extends the experience well beyond the table and speaks to the establishment's genuine love of great seafood in all its forms. On Pricing and Happy Hour Yes, Mongers leans toward the higher end of the price spectrum -- but for the quality on the plate, it's more than justified. That said, the ample lunch menu offers a bit of a price break and their happy hour is a smart way to sample what this kitchen does best at a more accessible price point, and it's become something of a local institution in its own right. Mongers Market + Kitchen isn't just a meal -- it's an experience that lingers long after the last bite. Don't miss it.

Deli Rating: 3.8/5 [take out]…read more It was around 8 PM and we were just browsing the deli section when we noticed they were making combo bowls and placing them on the $6.99 shelf. We picked one up with pork ribs, roasted pork belly, bok choy, and white rice. It felt like a great deal, and since we hadn't tried the food here before, we figured why not. If you want to choose your meats, you can order directly at the counter. My husband got the 2 BBQ meat combo ($12.99) with roasted pork belly and honey BBQ pork. It came with bok choy and fried rice. The rice was pretty dry, but the meats were all equally good. The roasted pork belly is much better if you air-fry it and dip it in the sauce. The food is definitely on the unhealthy side, so my stomach wasn't too happy afterward, but nothing major. Overall, I still think this is a solid option if you're pressed for time.
