Where oh where have all the baked goods gone, that used to fill our heads with warmth. The smells, the aromas, the bursting flavors as each morsel was enjoyed for its special delight. I grew up in a small town where bakery shops anchored each neighborhood. There were bread bakeries where the fresh baked aroma reached my nostrils long before I reached the bakery. The bread so fresh and delicious it could be eaten before I got home unless I put it away someplace where it wasn't easily reached. Then the famous Pine Street Bakery right in the middle of my paper route where I could always negotiate the cost of delivery for a sweet juicy wonderful morsel of baked goods. And so I was spoiled and fattened with such pastries, pies, desserts. Succulent Danish pastry, fresh baked pies, and cakes that made Mom cry. So today I do my best to find anything to take home for dessert. On my recent trip to HEB I stopped at the bakery noticing a top shelf of baked goods sold under an upscale sounding label. Something a bit above the rest. So for $14.98 I purchased the Banana Creme Pie with Bischoff Cookie Pieces. I always love a god Banana Cream Pie loaded with banana in cream. I really thought that it would have bananas. But no! The listing of ingredients showed a banana puree after the first twelve chemicals used to create this illusion. The rest of the fifty ingredients only served to preserve this chemical creation in perpetuity. Stupidly I didn't't just stop with the pie as two cake slices stood out begging me to purchase them. A Birthday Confetti Cake and a Lemon Mouse Cake with each slice costing $7.99 I felt quite proud to be bringing home something nice for dessert. Like the pie (?) before them these chemical concoctions ended up in the garbage disposal. When the goods behind the counter are all the result of chemical concoctions and frosting illusions there is nothing real about HEB Bakery. Are there real bakeries using real ingredients, (non-artificial, non-chemical ingredients) in the Austin area? I need a good fix. read more

I bought 3 V-bucks cards last weekend. I was charged for all 3. My grandkids tried to use them this weekend and they are all not activated. How can they not be activated if I was charged for them? I called HEB and they said they couldn't help me because I don't have my receipt. Why should HEB get to keep $30.00 if they didn't activate the cards? They are ripping people off and there is nothing we can do about it if we don't have a receipt. I won't shop at HEB anymore. read more

HEB Buda store 477: I always enjoy shopping at my HEB in Buda. Employees are usually very helpful and friendly. I just want to say a special "thank you" to young cashier Erin B. on May 4th, 2022. Professional, friendly, efficient, made eye-contact and was very good at her job. Very young, but seemed to have the gift of knowing just how to approach this job with the public. This review is for Adrian in the customer service department. Appreciate you doing your job but sometimes when exceptions are made it is still your responsibility as a customer service rep and the face of the customer department to still be polite. Even if you don't agree with the out come. You are a reflection of this location but lucky for you there are extremely helpful people like Courtney and the customer service team members at the Kyle location who truly know how to give customer service. read more

Your standard typical HEB. The craft beer selection is little to none but that varies with store location. I'm glad HEBs decided to put self service checkouts as it speeds up lines and makes getting to your destination that much quicker. Cheers. read more

Never come to the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon. This place was packed and beyond crowded. It had an assortment of things due to the fact it was an HEB Plus. It is better than the one I go to (HEB) but I will know next time to go early morning. read more

I love H.E.B. but I wish the grocery baggers would listen. It's not just this location. I bring with me plenty of bags and politely ask them to not pack my bags too heavy. I repeat myself more than once. Once home, I have to carry heavy bags into the house. Could management discuss this with employees? There are customers out there with back problems and elderly customers too. After a year of dealing with this I felt the need to mention it. read more

When you need groceries, but you don't want to take on the sprawling Kyle HEB Plus - its vast expanses swarming with people climbing over each other like army ants - there's the Buda HEB. It's got a decent selection, packed into what ends up being a smaller-than-expected space, considering the neighborhood (Cabela's, Super Wal-Mart). Yet, when looking for something specific, you really may not find it, as the selection definitely has its limits. But before you think you've got this HEB figured out, it's stocked with scores of random and semi-specialty items you cannot get at HEB +. So you really have to shop both stores. I am so done with my home town Buda H.E.B. I really hate having to write this review. I've been shopping here for 12 years and I've finally had enough. Enough of the constantly pulled products. Enough of the always empty bread isle. Enough of the nearly eliminated name brand products. Enough of the ever shrinking vegetarian meat substitute section. Enough of the miniscule Bluebell cabinet. Enough of long lines because there are not enough registers open. I hate shopping at Walmart but you give me no choice. It will be HEB for produce only. The only they do better than Walmart. read more

This is for the HEB down in Buda next to Cabela's. Okay. What to say. If you like your fresh fruit and vegetables soft and mushy for easier consumption, then this is your place. If you want your choices limited to cut down on shopping time, then you'll really enjoy the empty shelves that keep you right on moving. This isn't the worst HEB I've hit in the Austin area, but it's way down the list of HEBs I'd hit if I had to put in on a list. Assets -- when I go to Cabela's (which isn't often, but it happens), it's right there, so instead of hitting the Hell that is any HEB in Austin, I can quickly walk in, grab a couple things I need, and get the heck out. Plus, you can get cheap gas right out front. Plus, Sonic is right down the road so you can get a Route 44 unsweet ice tea to drink while you drive the half hour home. Half hour ride? Made much easier thanks to the easy access to Tollway 45 and 130. Notice, all the assets are external to the actual store. Location, location, location. If I'm making a trip to or from San Antonio, I'd definitely hit another HEB if any sort of produce or specialty item is on my list. If I'm at Cabela's and realize I need standard items, it's a quick and easy in and out, something other HEBs are not, and then I can be quickly on my way. read more

I've been living in buda for almost 2 years now and this HEB is awesome! I get my freshly sliced Sandwich meat. Karina has been attending me every time I go and she is my go to person! The people working here are friendly. Being that this is a grocery store everything is nice and neat, aisle are easy to move through. They recently remodeled and it even seems bigger! HEB Buda is my go-to grocery. They've done an excellent job in expanding in order to keep up with the crazy population growth in Buda over the past several years. Staff is friendly and efficient. Great bakery, and I am addicted to their Chocolate Mootopia Milk that I use for my post workout smoothies. Their prices are killer cheap, especially on sale, when they beat even Wal-Mart. read more

I came here expecting to find Errol M. perusing the frozen foods section but was sadly disappointed not to find him there. This HEB is one of the smaller ones, much like the SOCO & Oltorf location was before the remodel they did some years back. That being said they have a good selection packed into a small area. Their produce department is ample at the very least, well suited for me since most of what I buy is fruits and veggies. It's never too busy to get in & out in a hurry, which is my favorite thing about this HEB. They have a little "10-item or less" express lane beside the produce section, sort of set off by itself, that almost never backs up. Basically what I'm saying is that I think Errol M. would approve, and he's currently the leading HEB authority for the entire Austin area. Therefore I approve as well. read more

This store is amazing, I will be going to this store more often. No more fighting to crowd or shopping a store that confused me countless times out at the Kyle HEB Plus. The Buda HEB is so much nicer to shop it isn't as big of course but less traffic, friendly people, better service. read more

This store is a nightmare! I teach close by so the location is convenient but that's about it. I'm told everything you could ever want is in that store but you can't find anything. It's so bad they literally have an 8 1/2" x 11" magazine type thing to give you to try and help you find stuff. You can't find anyone to help you as there are not enough employees in the store. The worst, and most frustrating aspect is the ridiculous time it takes to check out. Express is anything but....you are better off getting behind the red neck buying a months worth of groceries. I've gone by here 4-5 trips to "run by" and grab items on the way home only to spend no less than 30-40 min getting three small items. Target is across the street and has everything you'll ever need, clean, well organized, easy to navigate and quick check out. If you are determined to go to an HEB go to the one at Brodie and William Cannon, in Austin. They are well staffed and layed out much better. read more
