Question will have to remain unanswered though i am guessing its probs casual. Anyway! I have been avoiding meat on the weekdays (its difficult. I am carnivore at heart) and was sick of the greens in my fridge so what did i do? Order delicious fried Greek yummy-ness. The falafel hot plate was perfect for my craving. They give you a hefty portion of crispy but not overly fried balls of ground chickpeas and spices. At this point pretending I was healthy was out the window so for my choice of side (rice, lemon potatoes or fries) I fattily (new word) chose fries. Delicious and so so many. Whatever sauce they gave with it was creamy and complimented it well but i would order a side of tzatziki next time. It also came with a nice side salad & warm pita. Ill order again! read more

I have given this place a 5 becasue the food quality is really superior to the other mediterranian and Greek place in the area. The gyros are actually thick and tasty. The tables are claustrophobic but their sauce is fantastic. I would overall recommend this place. My favourite would be to enjoy a Hooka in the area followed by a dinning experience here. The bathrooms are kept nasty, and the area of the restaurant is small which is understandable when you consider the prices in steinway are rising and this is an old restaurant. Overall, not a great fan of Greek food in NY as most gyros are paper thin and nasty but this restaurant is fantastic. read more

Gyro Uno always comes to my rescue when I don't feel like cooking after a tiring day at work and want something cheap. I usually call ahead and swing by and pick up my order. Don't forget to bring cash. The gyro here is AWESOME! As well as the chicken souvlaki. Lots of meat, veggies and just enough tzaziki (yum). I like to throw in a spinach pie if I'm feeling extra hungry. There are always people sitting down inside and the staff works really hard sending out orders for diners and delivery. Pizza seems to be a popular delivery option for people. Excellent neighborhood spot on Steinway to grab a slice or a pita as a quick fix for a great value. read more

The food is delicious. The portions are hearty and they deliver pretty quick. I always get the chicken gyro platter with lemon potatoes and salad. The chicken soup could use a little more lemon in it, or not; I'm a lemon crackhead so maybe it's just me.. Overall they're food is fresh and I'd recommend you eat there. read more

A clean unassuming gyro,pizza,burger joint. Had a small Greek salad with gyro meat on it. Food was good, came out fast. Server was very nice. Definitely worth the price, which was very reasonable. Saw a burger coming out for another table, looked yummy. read more

I been walking by this place since I move to Astoria but didn't feel like giving it a try until 1 day my roommate brought back a cheese pizza slice and it was decent. Not the best pizza in the world but it wasn't the worst plus it was only $2.25 for a hugh slice. The pizza was extremely cheesy and greasy(which I love). So every since last week, I been here 3 times, Twice for a cheese pizza and 1 time for their gyros. The gyros was ok too, nothing to fancy or have that "Wow" factor but for only $5, you can't expect more. Just ate here for the first time. The gyro is amazing and gets my full five stars. Best I've had in a very long while. The pita was amazing, the meat wasn't dry, it had just right amount of sauciness. Very, very good. My wife & I just moved to the neighborhood. We had no idea where to go, or what was good, but several people had told us that Steinway Street was where all the good food was. (Of course, we now know that to not be the case, but I digress). So we find a parking spot on Steinway and start walking around. It's the middle of the day, a Wednesday, and everything is closed. Which is odd. But after wandering around for a while we realize that it's the first day of Ramadan, duh...and we're wandering around the northern section of Steinway, where everything is Middle Eastern. So we stop into Gyro Uno, because it's the only thing open, (of course, we now know that had we walked another block or two south, we would've hit a bajillion greek, chinese, italian, thai, mexican restaurants...live and learn), and we're tired and hungry. The positives: _cheap _huge portions _friendly staff _open on Ramadan The negatives: _the food's simply not very good. My souvlaki was practically inedible...so fatty that I could barely chew it. The gyro meat was pasty...I like my gyro to have a bit more texture to it, so that it actually reminds me of meat, and not finely ground buckwheat rolled out into sheet form. _portion size. I'm not a fan of huge portions. Especially when it comes to what is essentially street food. If it's meant to be eaten with your hands, then I want to be able to eat it with my hands. But when the gyro is the size of a dinner plate, and you need a fork and knife to eat it, it loses its mystique a bit for me (and that goes for any street food). Now, if the portions were huge and the quality was superb too, that would make it okay in my book. But that's not the case here. This is, in my experience anyway, a quantity over quality type of joint...which means I'll save it in the back of my mind for when my Midwestern relatives come out to visit and want to experience "authentic" New York cuisine (but who really just want to stuff themselves on something, and wouldn't be able to tell SPAM from good gyro meat if you held a gun to their heads). It's cheap enough that I'll probably give it a shot one more time, given the sheer number of glowing reviews on here...but my one experience left me less than wowed. read more

How is this place 4/5 stars? I got a gyro delivered and it sweated through the entire paper upon delivery. The inside was a big lump of meat, the outside bread was covered in half-melted cheese. There was one slice of tomato on top that looked dead. I ate only 4 bites and left the big lump of meat in the trash where it belonged. Later in the night my girlfriend noticed that my entire body was covered in hives - red dots all across my body. Disgusting! Never eat here if you value your life read more

Astoria best place for lamb gyro, not too many places have lamb everyone mostly has beef & chicken.

Probably one of my favorite places I wish they delivered to Long Island city. Reminder do not order the French friees with any type of cheese on top. Not worth it. And Dosent travel well. Do not order the chicken Slovaki. Order the lamb gyro or chicken gyro platter. The gyro sandwich is cheaper if you aren't that hungry but the platter is a much better deal. do not get the fries. Make sure you substitute for rice it should be free. read more

After a VERY disappointing trip to a car lot, my family was hungry. I was in the mood for a Gryo. (I usually read some Yelp reviews before going but I just wanted to eat) So I quickly scanned for a restaurant with a good number of reviews and @ least 3 stars. I found this location. The restaurant decorate was cute. The shop is a little small/narrow, especially when ordering take out. You are constantly moving out of the way for.. the delivery guy, the waitress and other ordering customers. But overall its a nice neighborhood shop. FYI- this place is CASH ONLY and yes they have an ATM machine. Regarding the food I like it however my family disagreed. ( we had traditional gryo's ) I love love love gryos so I know I am a little bias but hey I'll admit it. The only issue I had was all the white sauce ( Tzatziki sauce) was at the bottom of the sandwich. So while you are eating the top half of the gyro you really don't' get much sauce. I usually just order more sauce on the side but they had a sign behind the register that says Extra Tzatziki Sauce = 75 cents each. No thanks!! ) My son and my husband did not like it their gryos. My husband said the meat was dry and overcooked ( I will admit our sandwiches were the last made with the meat, they brought out new meat right after... so... maybe he has a point.) ( My husband didn't know about the meat, he had to wait in the car while I ran in and ordered because THERE WAS NO PARKING.) Like I said before I like the food. We spent about $18.00 for three gryos. But between getting money from an ATM (plus fee), doing a dance in the shop and trying to find parking... I won't go out of my way to visit again. read more

I ad the gyro and I wasn't impressed. Sure they give you a shit load of lamb but with anything I like a good meat to veg ratio.I like my lamb crispy so once its been sliced off it needs to be thrown onto the grill and cooked for a bit. I ordered takeout and I can bet it was just sliced and put onto the pita. The white sauce wasn't anything special either. My friend had a plain slice and said it was okay. It was just average. That isn't acceptable at $2.50 a slice. After overlooking the menu I felt everything on the menu was slightly overpriced. I'll give them another try eventually with a hero or burger but I don't see them changing my mind or rating about this place. read more

I ordered a gyro plate one day for delivery for lunch and not only were they speedy but the food tasted amazing! I never had such great gyro before (other than homemade). They completed my order as I requested, salad instead of fries and no feta. The only thing is, their tzatziki (white yogurt and cucumber sauce), could have been better. It was a bit on the chunky side. I couldn't finish my plate and it was only 10 bucks! If you aren't a big eater like me, the gyro plate can definitely be split between two. Stopped for a quick lunch on a recommendation and was definitely pleased. We had the gyro plate and chicken kebab plate. I have to admit, this review may be biased because I had an insane gyro craving when I visited. But really, the gyro I got satisfied that craving. And so many gyros either don't, or leave you wondering if you should have checked out another spot. I left sated and pleased with my choice of a gyro sandwich and fries. I wasn't in a platter mood.
