A Brazilian Pizzeria was the interesting enough concept for me to visit this place earlier in the afternoon. Your eyes do have to be alert because the place doesn't exactly stand out and it looks narrow on the outside so if you're not actively looking for it, you will easily bypass it. Despite it's outside look, the place has a lot of length and solid enough seating space for 30 people tops. The service was fairly decent, not exceedingly outstanding but not bare minimum either. I'd say it's fairly decent. What I got for lunch was a chicken slice w/ white sauce and a chicken wrap which took it's sweet time finding itself on my table though when I got the wrap, it was worth the wait, it was pretty good. Kinda wish they didn't serve my slice early for it was a bit on the lukewarm side when the wrap came. All in all, while my experience was not perfect, it was decent so I'd give it a recommendation. The manger here should not work in customer service. We've spent hundreds of dollars here and tonight decided to get a TooGoodToGo order to get some slices and he refused to heat them up for us and was like "you only paid four dollars! I wouldn't do that for anyone" and continued on that we are ridiculous. I've gotten slices from various pizza places in the area and they always heat them up. No one should have to pay a sizable amount of money at a restaurant to receive kindness. We have spent hundreds here and still got treated like this. He was so smug and rude and it's so over the top and laughably absurd how disgustingly he acted. This pizzeria is pretty unique in that they serve other things besides pizza. On the weekends they serve special dishes that are obviously made by the cooking staff On Saturdays they sometimes make Fejoada which is a Brazilian black bean stew with rice and fried yuca bits. Usually they clue you in by having a sign outside saying they are serving it that day. The staff was friendly and told me it would be a few minutes to get my stew. It cost 15 dollars which I felt was fair for the amount of food i got. this dish takes hours to make and I have been missing it since Rice and Beans left the neighborhood. it is not as in depth the flavor but still good for when I am in the mood for this. I've learned what distinguishes Brazilian pizza from other pizza are the toppings. Almost anything can be a topping honestly, but the popular one are eggs, corn, ham, crispy potato sticks and caputiry (a Brazilian rendition of cream cheese). Some may be skeptical from these less common toppings, but don't knock it til you try it because the combinations work pretty well together. I ordered for delivery and ordered 3 pizzas: CHICKEN STROGANOFF: This one had a layer of potatoes sticks over a bed of chicken in sauce. I was most excited about this pizza because I've never tried anything like this. The texture combination was pretty enjoyable, so it stands pretty high in my ranking of the pizzas. MODA DA CASA: The toppings on this pizza were a little less adventurous and consisted of corn, diced ham, bacon bits and catupiry. The catupiry was rich, creamy and balanced out the saltiness from the meats. This one was probably my favorite of the pizzas PORTUGUESA: This pizza had a unique topping of hard boiled eggs in addition to other toppings of onion and ham. Although it was an unusual combo for me, it somehow did work out pretty well on the pizza. After a while though, it got a little smelly and pungent. The pizza prices ranges from 16$ for a small and 25$ or so for a large. I found the pizzas to be thinner and less saucy, but the sauces were also a little sweeter. We also ordered a few appetizers to share among us: COXINHA: A Brazilian variation of a chicken croquette. They were bite sized and easy to eat. I thought they were seasoned well and paired well with the green sauce they provided. BOLINJA DE QUIEJO: Loved this! They were like mozzarella sticks on steroids -- crispy on the outside and oozing with melty mozzarella inside. DADINHO TAPIOCA: Thought these would be like pao de quiejos, but these sized cheesy tapioca squares were a little chewier and quite addictive. Casa Theodoro is, quietly, one of the best pizza places in this part of Queens (and I'd even go as far to say in all of Astoria, too). I guess that its off the beaten path location (not quite Astoria, but still barely Woodside) keeps most folks from ever discovering it -- which is truly a shame. The pizza here checks all the boxes and then some. Perfectly crispy, soft and flavorful crust? Check. Sauce that's not too sweet but not overly salty, with a depth of flavor? Check. Inventive toppings that include all the standards but also go beyond what you'd expect to find at a typical pizza place? Check. My go-to here is their margarita slice -- simple but perfect, but they score points for more outrageous concoctions like their bruschetta slice (fresh tomatoes and red onion on top of a cheesy, crispy base). Their penne slice also outdoes its rivals in the area (sorry, Nonnas 1977). Service is prompt and decently friendly. The ambiance is surprisingly hipster, but not in an "I'm cooler than you" type of way. If you're looking for a low risk, high reward way to try this spot, they offer their leftovers on the Too Good To Go app every night. This is my second time coming to Casa Theodoro and I have to say that it just keeps getting better!!! The all you can eat pizza flavors are amazing and truly ALL YOU CAN EAT. It's usually my go-to flavor when I have pizza; it's the safe bet, but the taste of this one has me craving more. I live close by and order delivery from here at least 3x a month with my sister. Upon first glance, Casa Theodoro looks just like any pizzeria. Dig a little deeper and one will notice that aside from usual NYC pizza offerings, they have an interesting mix of various toppings that seem unusual or unique. This is no ordinary pizzeria folks, this is Brazilian style pizza. I feel like I've eaten here so often in the last year that I should really have a frequent diners card. I can't help it, there is an addictive quality to the pizza that is served here. I will happily come by and order a slice or three, or end up buying a couple of pies to bring home. Delivery is blazing fast, I usually get my food in less than half hour (despite not being in the same hood). Food wise, it all starts with their A Moda Da Casa pie ($13/19), which is topped with an abundance of corn and minced pieces of ham, crispy pieces of bacon, and a load of catupiry (a popular Brazilian cream cheese). A close second is their Portuguesa ($13/19), which consists of ham, hard boiled eggs, heart of palm, onions, and a generous smattering of olives. It doesn't even sound that good but there is an earthy, indulgent quality to each bite. Pizza purists may scoff at the pineapples on the Havaiana, aka Hawaiian pie, but the minced ham with lots of cheese makes up for it. The Carne Seca is a popular once as well since it showcases onions, tomatoes, jerked beef, and more of the catupiry cheese which is everything flavor wise. Case in point: just order a pizza with catupiry on it and everyone wins. They also have an array of dessert pizzas, such as the infamous nutella ($12) which has bits of marshmellow in addition to copious amounts of nutella. The Merengue ($12) is the strawberry version of the nutella, which of course, has lots of nutella. THe Romeiu and Julieta ($12) may be the most indulgent of all with more of the catupiry cream cheese and guava pasta. Or perhaps the Beijinho ($12) would take the cake with coconut, nuts, and lots of condensed milk (!!!). In terms of non-pizza stuff, they have a strangely addicting penne a la vodka pasta and also their mashed potatoes have something similar -- is it MSG / crack / pepper and butter? I'm not sure, but these items deserve recognition. The owner, Karina is the same brain child as the uber popular Pao De Quiejo in nearby Astoria. They have done an outstanding job with Casa Theodoro and I for one, hope to keep ordering pizzas from here for a long time. read more

Was craving pizza for lunch today and Casa Theodoro delivered, both literally and figuratively! I couldn't choose between 2 flavors and opted for the small half and half pizza, which thoroughly satisfied my craving. The eggplant parm was tasty though the prosciutto arugula really knocked it out of the park. Generous pieces of prosciutto drizzled with a sweet balsamic, I had to work to not polish off the whole thing. Crust is lightly toasted, bit doughy, very tasty. Between two people, ordered the Half/Half Pizza ($15), Garlic Knots ($3.50), and French Fries ($4.50). The pizza is half chicken/bacon/ranch and the other half eggplant parmesan. Great flavor on both sides, with not too much ranch and a hearty crust. The knots are soft (not as good as leftovers) and have a strong garlic taste. I been dying to come here forever as i love pizza rodizio, in Brazil pizza rodizio is the way to go. when i found out they had one, i was super excited and needed to come. we called the spot and the rodizio starts at 6pm and lasts all the way till 10pm, that is too perfect, sadly they only have it going on twice a week, but i guess that is a start. we made reservations for 7pm, i figured by then the pizza would already be going around and we would not have to wait too long, as i am a firm fan of come in and eat right away, i not a big fan of a la carte life. the area where this restaurant is located can be very challenging for parking, we looked for a solid 30 minutes so when you come be prepared to be looking for parking for a little while. this review will be a tale of a lot of love and bit of hate, so make sure to read the whole thing as the positives and the negatives will all be listed so everyone can be prepared for all of the possibilities when coming here. we got in and noticed that the spot is a cozy and a rather small traditional looking pizzeria, not one of those larger restaurants with plenty of tables, keep in mind as this spot gets more popular there might be a bit of difficulty to find reservations as the location is small, i would tell u to be on the safe side and always make a reservation. we took a sit and this very polite and cool lady came to greet us, she seemed to be the owner as she came to us and pointed out how all the rodizio worked and the BYOB option, even pointing us to the next door deli if we wanted to get some liquor, another great thing and very common in Brazil that they do here is the selling of 2L sodas for the table, and i though that was really neat. My first impression of her was pretty great. the great thing about the rodizio here is the option on how you can go about it, i you never been before they will just make all pies and make sure you have them, if you been here before and already know what you like, they actually encourage you to just ask for the ones you rather taste, and i loved that option for my next visit and that is exactly what i will do next time i come here. the HUGE negative for me was the fact that we got there already 7:30 and didn't get the first pizza on our plate until almost 8pm, and i was starving. to me that was the worse if the rodizio starts at 6... there should be no reason why there was not a single pie coming out. They explained that the restaurant likes to make the pizza very fresh so they usually try to wait for the groups to arrive and make sure to make the pizzas fresh for them, in my opinion i didn't mind to have a ok not so hot pizza as long as i got the thing going right away, but that is me. i am not a fan of waiting, but if to you waiting for a fresher pizza is not a big deal, then to you this situation would not be a problem as it was to me. After the pizzas started to come out then life changed to me, the pizzas were great, the flavors were almost like the ones in Brazil, and the service was pretty amazing. they made sure to make all pies and made sure we had all flavors provided in the rodizio. we were pretty happy with the outcome. they even have some desert pizzas just like back home, they are a definite must! the best flavors i my opinion were the 4 cheeses and the coconut beijinho pizza, i was not very big on the carne seca and the frango com catupiry (i think the cheese used was not very flavor rich), this is a great experience to have, so come on down and have some pizza! overall, besides the initial rick-up with the delay on the pizza rodizio to start i could definitely overlook that, the pizzas were great, the price was amazing, the music was dancey, the people that comes to eat here are happy, the overall vibe was great. i will definitely come back not only for more pizza but i heard they have a friday pasta rodizio, so.... friday here i come! The tables and seats are wooden and looks much nicer than the average pizzeria. They take reservations and offer different types of pizza and pasta dishes at reasonable prices. Pasta are $10 and comes with bread. The serving size is pretty big; I was able to make two meals of my delicious penne vodka. They also have parmesan cheese and olive oil at the table to add on your food. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't the biggest fan of most of the toppings. Every once in a while, the craving for Hawaiian pizza hit my gf and me hard. It was around 9 when we decided to order. I was looking around for a while because it seemed like many places didn't have Hawaiian and finally decided on Casa Theodoro. I ordered through yelp then while waiting, I was browsing through the reviews. I became a little worried as a lot of delivery orders seemed to say that they got cold food or the incorrect order. I forgot to note that the bell was broken so they would have to call so I called in and got a mixed response - one girl was frantic when trying to find the order, then a gentleman comes on the phone and callously said I'll talk to my delivery guy. I was a little worried that they'd forget to call and just leave. Food was scheduled to be delivered between 10:39 and 11:09 but to my surprise, it literally arrived at 10:39! When I received my Hawaiian pizza, it was literally steaming. Nice crust and generous with toppings. I'd order again and would recommend others for their Hawaiian. read more
