having been grown up in the area, I have been to this place before and I've read recent reviews and wanted to go back Twice I went in recently and got a slice. It was totally uninspiring. Does a point where slices sitting on the cat on the counter just need to be tossed. don't come back to life with heat. That doesn't seem to be much of any variety of pizzas on hand. It's the basic. I on the and went back hoping that I would get a fresh is about a mile round-trip from my dad's As I said there wasn't much of a variety of items on display so I ordered the calzone and the guy from behind the counter said it'll be seven or eight minutes I know it takes longer than that to make a call on, so I set up as freshly made premade The guy said it was premade and needed to be warmed up and I said forget about that as it was probably in a refrigerator or some sort I didn't really care how long it took to make my call on I would've waited and paid whatever but that was not an option was an offer to me and as such, I cannot recommend this place yet to have anything fresh out of the oven from this place and I'll be why the reviews were so good Two stars is generous read more

Really wanted to like SAMARIA after hearing good things about the Pizzeria. Those people were wrong. This is a NOT SO GOOD Pizzeria located in the same Strip Mall as the BEL AIRE DINER. The GREEK owned SAMARIA PIZZA is named after a famous Gorge located in a National Park on the island of CRETE in GREECE which is part of the CHANIA Prefecture. My favorite pizza spot (locally)! Consistency is king and at Samaria you can consistently guarantee that you are getting a good tasting pizza every-time you order. The calzones are also great tasting! Price: very reasonable - $12 for a small pie (which can easily feed 3 people) and $15 for a large pie! Each topping is an extra dollar. My sister and I came here because she was starving. We ordered 2 slices one with pepperoni and one with just cheese. She wanted me to base this review using her opinion of this pizza place and the taste of the pizza. However, I'm sort of stuck because the flavor was a 4, but the price for what I received, the lady's attitude, the dim lighting, the small amount of sauce, and the preparation of the pizza warrants a 3 star rating. First: The price for the lack of ingredients (sauce and cheese) on the slices is outrageous. Three bucks for a slice with a few pepperoni pieces and thrown on cheese I don't think so that's a no no. Now if it was a normal amount of ingredients like every other $3 pizza spot then I would not be complaining. Second: it felt like I was walking into a dungeon. It's enough the space is small, okay sure they can't do much about that (it has always been small), but hello I would like to see what I'm eating. So we ended up eating in the car. Third: The old lady got a bit snippy with me. She's lucky I now know how to control my anger a bit better, just a bit. I am going to just say this- don't show up to work if you don't feel like serving your customers or greeting your customers. *The older man (probably her husband) now he was very nice he smiled and made eye contact. I can tell you this- a few years ago this was the go to pizza spot. My family and friends that come to Queens really likes the pizza here so... It looks disorganized and not as clean which is unfortunate. The inside is pretty dimly lit and the equipment looks old and not very well taken care of. Now on to the actual pizza. The dough is too tough and thick for my liking. Its not really good pizza but its not terrible either. If you're looking for a cheap, quick bite in the area, this serves fine. The pizza is priced well- crunchy crust with fresh cheese served at the right temperature- not burn your mouth hot and nowhere near room temperature. I didn't get the dripping oil from my pizza, which is a plus. The cheese was in clumps but in a good way, right temperature, not warm or burning hot and with enough melt to make string of the mozzarella. The crust was crispy and the dough was also good but could use work. All in all, for a place I pass by occasionally and hardly notice, because the decor is not glamourful. Probably one of the smallest pizza spots in Astoria/Long Island City - Samaria's Pizza is a family owned and ran spot. They have your usual selection of slices and pies and usually you'd have to get your pizza with a topping heated up. It's not ready right away. But the wait is never ever that long. I just usually go for regular cheese slices and they're usually spot on. It's just your regular slices. Nothing fancy. I've had toppings added before and it's still your usual same pizza.
