I took a new PRS guitar I had purchased at another shop in for some warranty work on a static noise issue coming through the body. I left the guitar with Guitar Gallery and the tech took my guitar off site to his own shop to troubleshoot and try to resolve the issue. After a couple weeks I called and was told he was still working on it but should have it finished soon. Finally I called and was told he was bringing it back over to the store and I could pick it up just before they closed. I picked it up and paid $65 for his time and efforts. He said the static was still present but was perhaps slightly less, and that the static could be coming from the plastic cover plates on the back of the guitar and he said he would make me new replacement covers of a different t material to see if that would alleviate the static. He said he would have them done in about a week. I brought the guitar home and discovered the vibrato trem arm was missing. I called the tech's cell the next day and he never answered or returned messages. I called the shop and they said they didn't know anything about the missing trem arm. After many many attempts I eventually gave up and just ordered a new trem arm from an online shop. I never heard from anyone again about the replacement back plate covers or my missing trem arm. I do not recommend taking a guitar to this shop for any repair. I'm out $65 for attempted repairs, and another $25 to replace the misplaced trem arm myself. Signed...Pissed in Peoria read more

I was totally surprised by the variety and quality of their new/used guitar and basses. They don't have the stack of $200-300 guitars like other places. they have some really cool Reverends, Ernie Ball, PRS, Epiphone, Gibson on the walls. But what makes this place inviting is no one is trying to stuff their opinion on you and instead they listen and make excellent recommendations when asked.. The inventory changes quite a bit and was actually priced lower then online on a bunch of items. Their Luthiers are pretty awesome at taking the time to go over my instrument and what needs to be actually setup. Sadly on my part they showed me that one of my guitars I bought off Reverb had a twisted neck that I had missed when I inspected it and played it. They have setup my basses and guitars to eliminate fret buzz which drives me nuts and the action is perfect. I had visited 2 other shops in town for setups and one of my basses came back with even more buzz and they just raised the strings; saying that when I'm playing through an amp the buzz won't bother me.... and there isn't enough room to talk about the bad experiences at GC at every location I have been to. They also have another area extending the store for private lessons which I have been taking for both bass and guitar. Once again they are teaching me what I requested instead of 1-2-3 step easy guitar book.. The only problem is other players have found out how good the luthiers are so they will take a little longer or same time but it will be done right. They are doing repairs and restorations and not just quick string changes and setups. It's always cool to see what high dollar old acoustic they are working on. read more

I found what felt like an old school guitar store here with inventory that represents what guitarists in Az area need. The selection is excellent. I played some rare, expensive axes there. Such a cool little hole in the wall place, my husband was in awe when we walked in. What I found discouraging about the place, was how highly priced the guitars were. One of the employees even said that some of the pieces were overpriced and had seen them cheaper elsewhere. I'm unsure if they allow you to play / test the gear out as there weren't any chairs to sit on in the main space. Once you got into the acoustic room you could sit, and see all of the things they're working on. That was such a cool thing to see, where they worked on pieces and have an open space. I was having some trouble with an old strat of mine and decided to stop in to have it set up and to get the frets worked on a bit. Very fair price for the work the guys did and I really cannot believe how well my guitar plays now. Ok, I agree with all the 5 star reviews that come before me. Let me add my experience. Dave rocked my inexpensive 'buzzing' ukuleles. They play so clean now! Dressed frets, raised the action just a tad, new strings and now I can't blame my sloppy technique on the ukes. They play like much more expensive ukes now. But wait! There's more! I had two identical ukuleles (one that my wife stopped playing) and when Nick heard that I played blues he suggested a low G string on one to get that lower 'bluesier' tone. When I jumped on it he changed the G string then and there and...wow! Now I have my blues ukulele! These guys are experts and just great guys. Use them. Oh, and they have guitars in every price range. They won't steer you wrong. So glad I found them. Thank you both. read more

I went into Guitar Gallery not even knowing which strings on the guitar are which today. I've only ever played Happy Birthday in 3 strings. OMG But Nick treated every novice question as important and fully explained the different tuners and picks. I had told myself I couldn't play. What if I was wrong? Nick loves guitars and people. After sharing he teaches lessons, he explained the musical notes and gave me a tip to be careful on the third string up from the bottom when tuning. It goes out to the far end of the handle and some people mix that up He understood how much joy shopping and taking a lesson was bringing me! Guitar Gallery is hosting a Boutique Guitar Showcase with 50 high end instruments and vintage, Santos and Ayers Guitars. I've never been here before. I felt like they were so nice for a $5 sale I should do something nice back! And if I want additional lessons, I would totally go to Nick. He would be incredible to learn from. I was in the area at another business today (7/6/19) and noticed this shop. I had some time, so I went in. First I was immediately blown away by their vintage guitar inventory - 3 Rickenbackers, Fender Jaguar, Strats, Melody maker, etc., etc. GREAT stuff for a small shop. But that's not why I'm writing this review. I had to make 3 trips to this place today! Around 10:40am I went in to take a look and Randy greeted me - super nice dude, he established instant rapport. I asked if they did electronic work. I had bought a Schecter Stargazer off Craigslist a couple years ago - active electronics were gone, pickups replaced with 2 J Bass pickups - so it was now passive. I had started to restore it to original pickup configuration first, and then thought I'd decide later to go active or remain passive. I had another guy start this work and he just could not get the electronics right. (Wanted 2 volume and one tone control - with one non connected pot/knob) It worked, but not right. I explained to Randy what was going on with the bass. He proceeded to grab a piece of paper and diagram out the wiring as he thought was happening and then showed me how it should be wired. He helped me out with no expectation for payment. I then asked what it would cost (bass unseen) to rewire it. He did some figuring and shot me an approximate price. Asked how long it would take for them to do the work and emphasized I was in no rush. He told me about a week and showed me the stack of guitar cased that had scheduled work to be done. I told him I would bring it in next Friday or Saturday. (somewhere in this conversation he told me was off today at 3pm). I headed home. The wife was knocked out with a headache, so I thought I'd just run the bass back up to them today (Around 1pm). Spoke to Randy again with bass in hand. He opened it up, took a look, and went through everything in detail that he would do to it - essentially complete rewiring with new everything. He then wrote up a detailed ticket and was within $1.33 of what he thought it would cost sight unseen. Then he told me he should be able to actually do it today, would give me a call when its done, and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. 4:18pm - Randy called an told me it was ready. I told him I would run up and pick it up before they closed at 6pm. He said he would be there another hour and if wasn't there when I picked it up, give him a call and let him know how it was. 5:35pm - Arrived to pick up the bass. Randy (who was supposed to be off at 3pm) was still there. He went through everything with me and as I was leaving, he went to work on the electronics of another customer's guitar. My bass was totally rewired with new electronics and 2 volume/2 Tone controls (left it passive). Randy took his time with me and was very detailed - with other customers in the shop. He never came of as too busy, being rushed, or being to concise with my bass issue. Great service. Great Shop. Accurate quote - sight unseen. I recently decided to buy a guitar and attempt to teach myself how to play (again). After disappointing trips to music shops and big box guitar places, I finally visited Guitar Gallery after a quick google search. After my first 5 minutes in the shop, I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I have been to the shop at least once weekly and my opinion remains the same. From what I can tell prices are similar to other local places, but even if they were higher I'd spend money here. They even do private lessons for many instruments. I take lessons and have had my guitar worked on here, and plan to give this place all my guitar related business going forward. Dave was able to correct a very bad situation. It's not perfect but I'm completely satisfied. Dave is an artist in the shop. I want to thank he and Nick for going out of their way to earn my confidence. Guitar Gallery is my go-to place from now on. Thanks guys! Original notes: Took my custom shop Les Paul in for a minor chip repair on the headstock and a setup and cleaning. Took them two months to restring my guitar and ruin the paint on the headstock. I started guitar lessons here when I was in third grade and continued until I graduated high school, and I still always make a point to go here for guitar-related things even though I live far away. Everyone who I've ever dealt with here has been great. I want to highlight Nick, in particular, who was my instructor when I was in high school. He was always a blast to learn from and play along with; in addition, he's always incredibly friendly when he's working in the store, as I witnessed when I brought my brother in to buy his first guitar. Mike is another guy who is always around and is super helpful. I also think what sets this shop apart is that everyone in the shop so clearly knows what they're talking about, and yet they're very approachable and unintimidating about it. It's a rare thing to find among musicians. Could not recommend this spot for more. For people of all skill levels who want to take lessons, for people who want a new guitar, or for people who just need a new capo. I'm a newbie guitar player and was so frustrated by an intonation issue last month with my brand new short-scale Fender. I'd gotten some really bad service and advice (unbeknownst to me) from a guitar tech at the shop that sold me the guitar, and when I talked to my teacher about it, he sent me here. Thank goodness he did. The Guitar Gallery techs fixed my intonation issue for free, and recommended a better set of strings. They knew I'd been taken advantage of and made sure to explain exactly how the bridge of my guitar needed to look when it was properly set up. Got a K&K Mini pickup to replace a previous under the saddle for my Guild F-50 Jumbo. Previous installation created a larger hole at the end pin. Guys did a fantastic job anchoring the K&K as well as constructing a new saddle. Also had them do a setup, and the guitar has never played or sounded better. Took a while as they were backed up, but would rather have it done right than quick. read more

I don't leave a lot of reviews, but these guys really deserve some good feedback. First off, I just picked up my newly purchased, used guitar (purchased online, not from Guitar Gallery) from their shop, after bringing it in for a set-up, and new set of strings. I had been trying to make some adjustments myself, but decided that it would be best to have a professional go over it, for quite a few reasons. So, pricing was very competitive, and the turn around time was much faster than I had expected when I brought the guitar in. Not only did they do a great job on the setup service, but Dave also went above and beyond, and made another small repair for me, just to make sure everything was perfect. Second, and this is maybe even more important to me. Everyone I met at the shop was extremely helpful, and very easy to talk to, with no attitude at all. Honestly, I find that walking into a guitar store can be a bit intimidating. Probably going back to my first experience with guitar shops, buying my first guitar back in high school, in the mid 90s (basically a pawn shop/guitar store filled with guys that seemed to thrive on making sure you knew how much you sucked at guitar. Kind of like the guitar shop version of the music store in High Fidelity). Anyway, it was great to walk into a store where everyone was helpful, and nobody talked down to you, etc, and obviously knew what they were talking about. Ok, yeah I might do a review or two here and there. But this review is from the heart. When I pick up a guitar and it talks to me, or causes me to pull some new riff out of my ass. I just have to have it. So.. Let's get down to the review... I found a cheap acoustic bass that spoke to me, ya it was a real turd though. It was a cheap Takamine Jasmine acoustic bass. Ya see, I am hard on things I love, you can ask any of my many wives... But over the last 5 to almost 6 decades I found that once you find a good one its worth the time it takes to work things out. Fixing my turd bass that I loved was beyond my skill level, so I called one of the highest google search rated instrument techs in Arizona. He said I would have to wait months before he could work on my guitar. So I asked him who would he call if he was playing and couldn't work on a guitar himself. He then gave me Guitar Gallery's phone number. I called and within a just a ring or two Dave from Guitar Gallery picked up my call. I said I needed a bone nut, and a saddle - plus a setup. Dave gave me an extremely reasonable price and I also said I had to pick up the guitar within 4 days at a specific time on a Saturday to fit this job into my schedule. I show up on a Saturday morning right when the store opened, walked in. Asked for my bass, sat down and played it. Did I mention Im rather hard on the things I love? Well the bass wasn't set up to handle the way I play - which is hard. Next thing I know Randy stops all work he is doing. Then with extreme skill, he levels a few things, crowns a fret or two, then polishes them. Next he wipes the fretboard down with some special juice to protect the fretboard and handed me the bass and said something like, you play it and tell me what ya think. I was blown away! Guitar Gallery had took my turd and turned it into a diamond! Plus, all the guys that work in that busy shop know what they are talking about - a few even gave this ol fart a few tips that will help my playing improve. No one except myself or Guitar Gallery will work on any of my instruments from this day forward. Now one more thing I must mention - I live in a remote place, its about a 4 to 5 hour round trip for me to go to Guitar Gallery. Every second I spent to get this type of service will be time well spent, and this time investment will pay me back for the rest of my life. I have spent most of the currency of my youth, so to find service like this with young men that are spending said currency wisely is in and of itself impressive. Randy and Dave also build electrics and acoustics which are amazing!It is a great to have some professional level luthiers to have your guitar worked on. All the guys are exceptionally nice, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with. They have ordered many models for me and helped with service problems promptly and at extremely reasonable costs; sometimes at no charge. I have to admit that they have never laughed or made me feel uncomfortable when I try out gear with my mediocre or ridiculous playing. My favorite store ever! The nicest staff I have ever known. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. Sold me a USA Stratocaster That really wasn't had a highway one neck with who knows what body. Then I asked Them to set up the guitar and they charged me 230 dollars and gave it back in terrible risible condition a. I felt that if there were issues they should have told me instead of going ahead. Then I asked for some of my money back because the guitar is not playable and they said They would have to take a look again at the guitar. Example: They're selling a used Marshall JCM 900 DR for $1500? . That's almost Double of what they go for at G.C, Ebay & reverb. I told the guy what i thought of his pricing and he gave me some story that is' a different model, like his is unique. or something special. There's only 3 JMC900 models , which were offered with 3 different types of power tubes. I've played Marshalls for over 40 years have owned & still own many. Don't insult me, please! . I saw one review on here that was bitching about wearing a mask during COVID-19, go somewhere else because these guys deserve more respect than you're willing to give. Brought a guitar in with a twisted neck, and the guys were able to bring it back to life and make it playable again. I've brought multiple guitars here over the years for maintenance and repairs and they've always been attentive, helpful and friendly. They have a decent selection of a few top brand guitars (electric and acoustic), pedal and other accessories. This amazing man, Kyle, relieved my mom and myself about my guitar neck. A man at a guitar center told me that my guitar neck was twisted and deformed. I went back to guitar gallery where I bought my first guitar and received lessons. Kyle told us that is was not anything we needed to worry about. He demonstrated that it played fine. Pretty small outfit, but the great staff fill the space with a selection of electric and acoustic guitars, and more importantly their knowledge and skill. You'll see a slew of recently-repaired guitars, waiting for pickup -- a testament to their abilities and fair prices. I dropped of a hand-me-down guitar for a set-up, hopeful that was all that the old gal needed. A non-rushed order, they called me a two days later (one of the days was a holiday, even!) to let me know she was indeed in poor shape and I'd be better off buying new than spending unnecessarily on a crappy guitar. I ended up getting a new guitar elsewhere (no negative on them...I'm just cheap and went the online/no-tax route. However, my new shiny geetar needs a setup, and I know just the place. They also give lessons, I believe, but I did not inquire during any of visits. That's not to say I won't...anyone who has heard me play knows I'm in great need of more expert advice and tips! I have not been happy with just about every guitar repair shop here in Phoenix. I've had my American Jazz Bass worked on by the small shops as well as the big box stores and have not been able to get the buzzing out of my bass. A friend of mine suggested Guitar Gallery. What did I have to loose? The first thing the young man behind the counter did was to, and I am not kidding here, was to actually LISTEN to me! He didn't try to talk over me or to pre-diagnose the problem but listen to me explain my problem, explained that they would need it for a few days, and could get it back to me before before Christmas! He didn't try to show off, or give me attitude! He simply said that he thought they could help! When I got my bass back my problem was fixed, the guitar was cleaned and serviced, and he explained what and how they worked on it! The action is where I can play it and the buzzing is gone! It is so refreshing to walk in to a music store and not get confronted with some kid who thinks he is a rock star waiting to be discovered and wants to show off rather than help! This guy was just helpful! Wish I got his name because I am more than happy here! Trust these guys to work on your guitar. I'll be back! read more

Great selection, great prices, and great staff - what's not to love? I recently dropped off my family at the nearby mall and drove over to the Guitar Gallery. I had seen their website listed as a Reverend dealer and wanted to check out their selection. The shop was a little hard to find, and in an unexpected area (back of strip mall, not visible from the street), but worth the effort to locate. Parking was very easy. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I found out later that they don't work on commission, which I think always helps the attitude. I wish they did work on commission though, as I would have liked to reward my salesguy with some moolah. He recommended a great Strat that I ended up purchasing. They seem to have about 30 each of electric and acoustic guitars, and a few random other items like ukeleles. While they may not stock as much product as Guitar Center, *everything* there is top-notch. I was like a kid in a candy store! Or more accurately, a middle-aged dude in a botique guitar shop. :) I must have played at least half their electrics that day. It took me a while to decide, but I did finally buy a guitar. The staff never pressured me to purchase, and were efficient when I did decide to buy. They even called the store owner at home to see if they could give me a better deal on the guitar I was buying. Now that's some impressive service! I ended up getting the brand-new Strat for $150 less than Guitar Center has it for on their site, so I'm more than satisfied with that deal. read more

They have the quickest turnaround, do the best work, and are the most down-to-earth guys of any music equipment store I've known. Thanks to Yelp, I discovered this awesome guitar store in Scottsdale. Although I went there to look at PRS guitars, I discovered that they have a top-notch guitar service center. I had them set up my Strat. The work was done quickly and competently, and it plays better than ever! Saturday morning, 10:10am, the door says they open at 10:00am, door is locked, a guy who is one of their teachers is standing outside and said he just called the guy who was supposed to open the store, "he'll be here in 5 minutes" he says. My friend and I walk down to a coffee shop a few stores down and come back at 10:25, door still locked, a student sitting outside says, "you know they're musicians, so they're never on time." We wait about 2-3 minutes decide what to do and as we are getting ready to bail a guy walks in from the parking lot, in no hurry mind you, and unlocks the front door, 10:28am. He was a nice guy and apologized for opening up late, but I must say, the selection of instruments was not worth the wait. A few overpriced vintage pieces and a lot of uninteresting new stock. This is probably a great neighborhood store to get lessons or a guitar setup, but don't go out of your way if you shopping for a guitar or bass. read more
