Best place for used equipment. I am starting electric bass and didn't want to spend too much initially in case I didn't like it. I went there and bought a used bass guitar, amp, stand, cord, strap and a free used bass case for less than $200 after taxes!!! I spoke to some of the customers there and they all agreed that this is the best place for buying used instruments and gear. Well... Drove about an hour each way to check this place out. And I learned if you are seeking mainly modified low end guitars, don't ask questions, and are into people with a significant sketch factor and only want to watch football and snarl if you try to engage, this is your place. I may elaborate if I get a snarky reply, but there's definitely a market for what I described. And I wish them and this proprietor well in the pursuit of the same. Pro tip...if you expect to sell (not trade) an $800 guitar, expect to have to engage a bit. If not, Football is always available. read more

I am absolutely stoked I was recommended to Zimms Guitars by friends and a bandmate. Since walking in the store a couple weeks ago , I have been in the store 4 or 5 times already. I had my PRS get a tune up and bought a killer Fender Tele . Dane the owner is awesome. He is knowledgeable and very friendly. No pressure type of guy but willing to get you into that guitar or gear you really love. The inventory is killer with a price range that is very affordable. He even has a rack of used/redone guitars that are just $100. He is very friendly about you trying out the guitars amps, pedals etc. As far as my tune up. I felt like I walked away with a brand new guitar. Dane did a killer job cleaning it up. Will def be bringing in all my guitars when they need a tune up. Plus the pricing was so customer friendly and reasonable. Highly recommend this olace for the beginner to local gigging musicians. read more

I went into Zimm's thinking I might upgrade from a 30 dollar Yamaha Strat copy I found on Craig's List that I learned on. I intended to look at a Squire classic vibe or maybe a MIM strat but Dane gave me a great deal on an American Standard Stratocaster. He let me play almost every Strat he had on the wall and even played with me for awhile. Sure, he is trying to run a business, but you can tell this guy just loves guitars and wants people to leave with gear that will make them smile. He never pressured me to buy anything and just let me have fun in his store for around 3 hours. So I left with a beautiful guitar that sounds amazing and is something I can give to my son some day. Highly, highly recommended and I will be back when it is time to upgrade to a better amp. read more

Would not recommend this guitar shop if it was the last one in Arizona. Proprietor, as others have noted, is not interested in you as a customer. You are an annoyance. Do not ask questions or ask for new strings or action adjustment on a guitar you may have just purchased from him. Dane at Zimm's Guitars is amazing. I bought a bass from Fender and it turns out the ground wire was not attached to the bridge. The wire was just stuffed in there connected to nothing. This was requiring me to make contact with all the pots, bridge, and the strings before it would become quiet. This was making playing and recording my bass near impossible. I started looking for professional help to have the situation taken care of. I went to Zimm's because of the reviews and that it was a local shop. Within 15-20 minutes Dane had me rocking away with the problem solved. I went home and tried it on all Amps and my isolated ground receptacles. Problem Solved! Thanks DANE! Zimm's is legit. Took the time to help get a guitar going with about an hour left in his day. I had just bought it knowing it need some some missing parts. He hooked it up with piece otherwise would of taken time to track down. Put some strings on it for me set it up and now I'm ready to shred.
