Recently moved to the area and was in need of a luthier to fix some issues my Telecaster was having. When I got the call to pick it up, they beat both their estimated deadline and the price they said it would probably cost. Getting something done cheaper and quicker than quoted is like seeing a unicorn in the music world. My friend just recently got into guitar and needed his BabyTaylor setup, so I immediately recommended this place. The setup was one of the better ones I've seen and I think he got out of there for like $90, so not bad. John, who has always helped me when I go in, is knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly personable. I almost wanna take my instruments in just to shoot the s**t with him haha, truly a homie. You can trust them for all guitar setups and repairs. They do a full and proper setup, not just a phoned in job. From the cheapest to the rarest expensive guitar, they'll take care of you. They will setup your guitar to match your preference from standard tuning to extreme down-tuned guitars. Your guitar will play like you never though it could. Nowadays with more and more guitar sales coming from online stores, you often order guitars sight unseen and untested. It's nice to know they can setup your instrument perfectly! I recently purchased a used guitar from a supposedly reputable seller on an online marketplace. When the guitar showed up, I recognized it was not the product or in the conditioned advertised. I sent my own findings to the seller and the marketplace and requested a refund but the seller claimed I was wrong, and the marketplace wouldn't take my word or pictures as proof. The "buyer guarantee" process dragged on for three weeks while they did their own investigation, so I took my guitar to John Bronson for a professional inspection. John and his team made time for me on short notice, and he was able to confirm my suspicions and provide professional written backup in my fight for a refund. The shop's reputation as a top tier Fender Authorized Service Center carried the weight I needed to get my money back, and John was great to work with. When I find the authentic guitar I'm looking for, my first stop will be to Bronson GW to get it setup. I wish I could give this place more stars. Insanely reasonable pricing, insanely fast turn around for an extremely complicated project, and the quality is astronomical. I have never had a better set up on a guitar and the care they took with the modifications of my beloved ESP is amazing. It's not everyday you find a shop with the experience to handle modifications on a several thousand dollar guitar, let alone fit and finish to make it feel like it came from the factory. They made excellent recommendations for some mods I wouldn't have considered and made everything right. Can't wait to drop my other guitars off here. You have a customer for life. read more

For using their services for the first time, I couldn't have given them a harder project. A complete pickup swap for a Gibson L6S. The action is perfect and even more awesome than most services I've ever used, they offered a "rush" service for a reasonable cost. One star is generous for guitar work by gaslight... almost two months with no follow up on incomplete and subpar services. 10/7/22- 12/2/2022 and waiting for follow up... I recently purchased a vintage "all original" 1965 vintage Fender Jaguar from Reverb. I contacted Fender directly for authentication recommendations and they recommended Bronson Guitar Works (BGW) for my concerns.. They had stellar reviews online and almost seemed to be too good to be true.. the day the guitar came in, I took it right to them for this because, the premium paid for this guitar required dotting the I and crossing the t.. 1. My initial contact with John, the owner, was pleasant but he seemed to be very busy, which I wrongly interpreted as a good thing.. When I expressed my concerns and how I wanted everything (pots,electronics, pups etc) checked thoroughly for confirmation of authenticity and a setup. We also discussed a possible value/replacement statement for my insurance company.. John recommended a rush service due to their backlog of customers, I appreciated his priority recommendation considering my 7-day return policy to respond to. 2. 4 days later.. I received a call from John that it was ready but when I asked about the dates and the authenticity, I received a fickle response that "everything looks good and it's hard to tell?" He did say, if it's a fake, it's a $4,000 fake" but the pickups were not verified to check the part codes/dates... 3. This is where things went south for me, I was told that I said "pots and neck, that's it..., you said you only wanted the neck and pots checked".. After being gaslit by BGW, I bit my tongue and attempted to give the man grace and an opportunity to make things right because I know he was a busy guy and probably missed the "authenticate everything" part that I mentioned to him ad nauseam. I spent a good portion of my hard earned money on this guitar and I became frustrated with him and Fender, for recommending me to this substandard experience. I then Re-requested that they check the pups and cut my losses.. 4. We went back and forth a few days, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of professionalism I received when he mocked me for inquiring about my guitar on the days that he told me to follow up on? This was also within the 7 day time constraint from my Reverb purchase, as I was down to the last 24 hr window for return, so I needed to confirm the authenticity.. I understand the man is busy but come on, don't mock me and pretend like I am bugging you when you tell me to call you back, especially when you are not delivering on what you promised... it's not like I wasn't paying a rush fee and an additional $40 on top of the mistake BGW made because John was too distracted to understand that I wanted a thorough authentication of a recently purchased vintage guitar. Other than his "word" I never received solid confirmation of authenticity of my pre-cbs Fender guitar... thanks BGW and Fender... 5. Unfortunately, the 90 day satisfaction guaranty is wasted on me. There is no way that I am going to let BGW hold my guitar hostage a second time and deal with John's immature and unprofessional tone again. Fender should seriously reconsider who they recommend to their customers.. after everything is said and done, I have my guitar back, the set up is ho hum with fret buzz with a malfunctioning volume circuit. I guess that is to be expected from a individual with a mentality of a teenager but plainly far too old be acting in such immature ways.. 6. Even after reaching out via email, 2 weeks later, I still do not have the photos that were taken of my electronics or neck.. I no longer wish to have my insurance statement completed with BGW as I am writing this mostly negative review about my experience with Bronson Guitar Works.. 7. prior to leaving this review, approximately a month ago, I gave John an opportunity to know how I felt about my experience with BGW and he advised that he would follow up.. One month later, here we are, no follow up... 8. Maybe I am brat but that is exactly the way I was treated by John Bronson.. maybe I offended him or he had some personal difference with me that I was unaware of? Who knows why he acted like a catty teenage girl? He did at one point call me "rich" but I assumed that was in jest.. maybe there is some class or ethnic discrimination going on there, who the knows? Either way, that's the last time I will go to Bronson Guitar Works. Lesson here, treat people with respect, bad business will catch up with you.. I hate to tarnish the 5 star rating but BGW really earned this one man.. I would not recommend Bronson Guitar Works to anyone and Fender should also seriously reconsider who they associate with and refer customers to.. read more

These guys are definitely the BEST in town. I've been looking for a great repair shop for my half a dozen or so guitars and stumbled across this place with my Yelp app. Totally AWESOME! Brought in my brand new American Fender Telecaster for a custom setup and some extra TLC. Dan was working the front and ask me exactly how I wanted it to play and what styles of music I enjoyed. He provided excellent help and really knew his stuff. Picked it up two weeks later and could not believe the difference. I was so excited that I played it for over two hours that night once I got home. Next brought in my American Fender Jeff Beck Artist Stratocaster. This one was setup by yours truly with a very heavy float on the tremolo. John Bronson (the owner) was there at the time and was very excited to see my guitar. We talked quite a bit about the guitar and Jeff Beck's playing style and how crazy it can be to play and keep in tune. He made a few suggestions about the custom setup and said you will be happy. Trust me. Two weeks later I came in to pick it up and again was amazed at the quality of their work and the excitement they got from seeing a happy customer. The tremolo was set perfectly and the neck and action felt fantastic. John was there again and we talked about the large list of celebrities that come in there to get their stuff repaired or worked on. He says this is just one of his hobbies and plays professionally at well. Even gets to be the guitar tech for several popular players when they are in town. These guys go out of their way to treat you just like the big superstars on stage. The large franchise chain stores can sell you stuff but they just have no idea what to do with it. I walked off stage 25 years ago and put my 80's ESP Enola gay (number 1 of production) and my #12 of production ESP kamikaze in their case for a long time. I just want to start off and say thank you to Dan for everything. My first impression of this shop was bringing my guitar to them thirty minutes past close (they close at 5, NOT 6 at this time) and Dan still opened up the shop and took me in even after his day was over. He quoted me, took my guitar, told me it'll be ready in 4-5 days, and with a smile locked back up and reassured all of my apologies that it was OK. 2 days go by and he has already completed a very hefty task which was installing a pickup, intonating, and overall setting up my vintage strat that travelled 2,100 miles to us. After I picked it up, he answered all of my questions and made sure that the guitar was set up the way I wanted before I left the shop. Dan has gained a customer for life with me and if my review and these other reviews aren't enough to persuade you, it's your loss. I took my lefty Dean bass to a shop near my apartment to have a terrible buzz looked at, and it was a terrible experience! When I finally got it back, I called up Bronson and they told me to bring it in for a check up. I took my baby in and they knew within minutes what they would need to look at and gave me an on-the-spot quote that was a FRACTION of what the other place had wanted and with a much more reasonable and effective solution to the problem. When I picked it up today, not only had they corrected the buzz and adjusted the really high action I had complained about, but they had found and corrected issues that I had not even thought to mention! I have cuts down my fret hand from the burrs that were on my fret bars, the guys at Bronson not only found the ones that I had tried to cover with clear nail polish, but sanded them down for me! This guitar feels 100 times better than when I first played it! This will be the only shop we take our babies to from now on, and between me and the other half, there are 8 guitars in this house! read more

My sons band (Good Boy Daisy) had a gig that turned into an acoustic set at the last minute. So I took my sons acoustic in for a tune up. John replaced the strings, filed down the sharp fret edges, lowered the action (it was almost 1/2" high), and cleaned out the pickup. Wow! My sons cheap acoustic guitar now feels like an expensive guitar. Especially after cleaning out the manufacturers nonsense with the bridge set up. This place is wizardry haven for sad guitars. I also had my Zematus copy setup and he installed Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 pups. I now have a Rock n Roll beast! Also just dropped off my Strat today for new pickups and pick guard. I am really glad I found these guys. This was my first time needing a luthier and I am certain I will never need anyone else. Now the old 12 string plays nicely, and sounds beautiful. I really wanted to like these guys. i would consider myself a very reasonable person. I had other guitars lined up to have them setup. This is my story. Every word is true. i bought a Gibson Les Paul off of craigslist. I notice a severe buzz so I took it to my local guitar center. The tech after inspection told me the neck was back bowed. The truss rod was completly loose and that I needed to see a Luthier. I contacted Bronson and brought the guitar in. I made the mistake of mentioning that I am a guitar novice and explained what was wrong with the guitar. I made it very clear that this I thought the guitar had a major flaw. While I was in the office I was told that there is no problem with the guitar and it just needed a setup. Then they proceeded to sell me tuners and a nut. I was happy to upgrade the guitar with the knowledge that an expert had looked at it and assured me there was nothing wrong with it. I also made clear that I did not want to invest more money into a flawed guitar. On the day of the repair I got a call telling me that the guitar indeed has a major flaw. Then I was told that the uogrades had already been installed. When I questioned why they would put more work into an unfixable guitar Dan got real nasty. I mean the guy should loose his job for the way he treated me. Some might say he has a short man attitude if you know what I mean. I was floored by the way Bronson Guitar treated me. It's like taking a car to a mechanic needing engine repair and they sell you tires and brakes. Shame on you Bronson. You are filth. read more
