Amazing place! I always walk by this restaurant and decided to pop in for lunch. If you like specific toppings in your ramen they hook it up when you customize it (for an extra fee). I'd give Gu Ramen Taps and Tapas a solid 3 stars. We went on a Thursday night, and while the service was fast, it did feel a bit pushy at times, especially given how relaxed the night was. I ordered the chashu ramen, which was just okay. The broth leaned on the bland side, and it was a little disappointing to see extra charges for add-ons that are usually standard, like an egg. That definitely took away from the overall value. That said, the inside has a nice vibe, and the menu offers a decent variety of food beyond just ramen, which is a plus if you're dining with a group. Overall, it's not bad, but there's room for improvement, especially when it comes to flavor and pricing. read more

The hibachi fried rice was soooo delicious. I recommend this dish to everyone. The cheese wontons were plumply filled and fresh. The service was sooo welcoming and attentive. I would go 3 on the ramen as the broth is kind of plain. The service and fried rice did not disappoint so I must round up to a 4. I would return if I was in the area. read more

My Ramen was very well done ( pork belly, corn and extra egg). The tuna poke, good. The edemame ( garlic/ parmesan?) Boiled, soggy, cold, no flavor? Don't order this! Service... pretty lousy. Seems the one wait staff needs to prep to-go orders and ignore the diners? Mostly great food... no atmosphere nor service? You decide what is most important. read more

This spot was conveniently located in the downtown district and close to the theatre where we were going . Parking was easy as there is a lot next door. Place is cute inside, however during a busy time, i can see it would be busy because the main room doesn't have a ton of seats - but most ramen places are this way. My husband and I ordered the spicy pork dumplings and the gu (house) ramen with chashu. The spicy pork dumplings were very tasty, not very spicy at all, and came with a nice salad - but was extremely oily. The salad underneath was dripping in oil. Taste was good, but as you are eating, the oil goes all over. Enjoyable, but needs much less oil. So much was leftover that we were able to use it as a condiment down for rhe ramen. The Gu Ramen is their house ramen made with pork broth. Very tasty, the broth is very flavorful, not oily, and very delicious. Portion sizes is good. The thing with this ramen place is that each topping is an add on. So while other ramen places offer a bowl already included with some toppings, you have to pay extra for each thing you want on it, so it gets expensive. They also don't make the traditional ramen egg (marinated). Service was decent and pleasant. Our table was sticky on arrival despite the restaurant wasn't. Skimpy on the napkins, which were needed from the oily salad. Overall, while the ramen broth itself was delicious, there was nothing exemplary that would encourage me to choose this place over another ramen spot. read more

Had dinner with a big group of friends (party of 9) last Thursday during the Anime Los Angeles convention. This was our second year eating here. The service was great for a busy night. They did their best to accommodate us, and checked in on us throughout our meal. For this visit I ordered their Chasu Yaki Bowl and La Cheese Wonton. The Chasu Yaki Bowl has Chasu meat drizzled with teriyaki sauce on top of fried rice. The serving of fried rice is quite large. The La Cheese Wontons were all cream cheese on the inside, drizzled with hot & sour sauce, and also provided with a dipping sauce. My friends enjoyed their ramen orders. I'm sure we will be back again next year. read more

I felt welcomed by the cool tones of the interior design and layout actually. We waited by the door as a party of two. Not too long after we entered were we greeted by the hosted and seated outdoors, as we requested. Even though it is on fourth street which has plenty of street traffic, it was still a quiet, comfortable dining experience. Every thing on the menu looked and sounded amazing but I planned to try the ramen because I've been craving a good bowl of ramen for a while. I landed on the shoyu ramen with tofu. I really enjoyed the taste of the broth. The flavor and seasoning was soul-healing. I don't usually go with plain chicken broth in ramen but I felt confident in my choice. I was literally happy dancing with each bite. The ramen was so good! My partner went with a spicy order of tonkotsu ramen with chicken, garlic, and black oil sauce. I tried parts of it and it was also delicious! I wanted to try the sushi but did not have that big of an appetite for both sushi and ramen so I opted for the salmon poke tacos. They tasted very savory and the salmon was flavored really well. The temperature and consistency was not too overwhelming for the tacos shell. The service was attentive and not too invasive. We took the check to the counter to pay. I am excited for our next trip here. It is dangerously walking distance for us! PS they have a sign that says they are hiring a dishwasher for Saturday and Sunday!

We were there in time for Happy hour 4:50-7:00pm. It is 50% off on the second appetizer. We had: Naked shrimp (6 pieces) crispy tempura outer texture with a slight kick Mini chicken wings fried (6 pieces) and these were indeed mini wings Miso creamy ramen soup with pork belly While waiting for our ramen, there were 5-6 possibly drivers waiting at that time for a take out with several other take-outs happening at the same time. The restaurant is appears to be short staffed because in many restaurants offering ramen, the ramen bowls are served fairly quickly. We waited about another 25 minutes after we had finished the appetizers, then the ramen arrived. The creamy miso broth was hot and it was quite delicious with two thick slices of tender pork belly. Service observed and experienced at best was haphazard and we were not the only table that were waiting for their entrees. I rated service as low because the server asked if we were sharing and yes we were sharing. We only received one pair of chopsticks, no side plates or a second bowl. We had to request each of the items when we could get a server's attention. I understand the staff were busy but throwing the pair of chopsticks onto the table was a surprise! Overall, the best items was the Miso creamy ramen and the Naked Shrimp.

Since then, I discovered a Rakkan in Tustin (now sadly closed) but there is this one here in Belmont, Long Beach, where I work! Since I discovered this LB location, I have been here a total of 3 times. I'm usually not a ramen fan so I don't frequent ramen shop too much, so 3x at the same ramen shop is a lot for me. Overall, my experience here at this location has been above average. There were some inconsistency with the service but overall, personally for me, every time I was there we had pretty good service. The broth is still as flavorful but for some reason I think that taste I first had in Coppell, Dallas was the best for me and I haven't been able to get that here at this location. Nonetheless, I like Rakkan because it also offers pretty tasty shrimp option ramen and the convenience of having plant based broth is you can have your choice of protein and still have the same consistency of the broth! I would rather go for plant based broth ramen any time over the original one, for health and clean-eating reasons. Would def recommend you check them out at least once! I also like that they have HH portion so you can really have a taste of their appetizer and don't need to commit to full size!

We came as a party of 6 after the Long Beach Marathon, and it seemed like they were understaffed. My friend mentioned that she had received better service on a previous visit, so hopefully this was just an off day. Still, there were quite a few things that could have been handled better. They only gave us one set of banchan, which I thought was insufficient for a party of 6, especially since several of the dishes we ordered also came with banchan. We had to ask for water, and we finished our initial sides pretty quickly while waiting for our food. When we asked for refills, we had to follow up twice. One of the female servers came across as unfriendly and made us feel like we were bothering her when we asked for more banchan. She didn't even stop or look at us when she responded, "Give me a minute." The male server was friendlier, but overall, the service remained slow, even when we were trying to get our bill and check out. There were also some order mix-ups. We were served the wrong dishes twice, and my friend specifically requested no onions, but that was overlooked as well. Between the long wait, missed requests, and lack of attentiveness, the experience felt pretty disorganized. FOOD: - Rib Eye Bulgogi: came with rice and banchan. The presentation was pretty cool, with the meat served on a bed of salt that was lit on fire! It helped keep the food warm, although it did make moving the meat around a little tricky. The bulgogi itself was very tender and flavorful, and we really enjoyed it. - Pork Belly Tofu Soup: good, but I wish it had more tofu. Either there wasn't enough, or it had broken down into smaller pieces, because I was hoping for more substantial chunks. - Rose Tteokbokki: creamy and delicious; but it's definitely a dish meant for sharing Overall, we were satisfied with the food, and I thought the portions were fairly priced. Unfortunately, the slow, disorganized, and occasionally unfriendly service took away from the experience and makes me feel a little hesitant to return.

The chicken satay was to be expected nothing special but it was good, the pork jerky was phenomenal I've never had it before and really enjoyed it! The mains we got pad see ewe beef and the nutty chicken. Both were delicious and had good flavor! I will say that the spice levels here are pretty mild we got medium spicy but it was more like a between mild and medium spicy so if you like spice definitely ask for it! Portion sizes are pretty good here, the two of us had leftovers to take home! Thai tea presentation is super cute and unique! Flavor wise it's nothing special but presentation wise it's super cute w the popsicle and everything! Service was pretty fast we came in on a Saturday and only had to wait maybe 15 min for a table? We ordered everything at once and it all came really fast (ie: before we were even halfway through the appetizers the main entrees showed up). Waiters were overall pretty nice and did check on us a few times. Nice casual ambiance. Music choice is kind of interesting they were playing kpop when we were there. Overall I could see this being a great place to meetup w friends, maybe a cute place for a date given how cute the Thai tea presentation is. There is a small parking lot which is surprising for this area of Long Beach but take note that on the weekend it might be full! Otherwise there's street parking in the surrounding area.

It's exceptionally good and it's the kind of dish that doesn't need any sort of meat. Ten. I also very much loved the spicy pad Thai ($16.95). We added the colossal prawns for like $7.00. The pad Thai was phenomenal - al dente noodles with just the right amount of spice, but the prawns were just a great additional to an already good dish. Come to Kin for a solid Thai food experience.

She made sure we were well taken care of and accommodated our needs from start to finish. If you come here, definitely ask for Hanna--she's an amazing server and made our night 10 times better! The restaurant has a beautiful open-concept layout with a darker, intimate atmosphere that I really enjoyed. The natural light coming through the windows added a nice contrast to the darker tones throughout the space, creating a cozy yet modern vibe. Gekkeikan Sake -- 9/10 We ordered the Gekkeikan sake served cold to enjoy while we waited for our food. It was smooth, flavorful, and a fun way to start the evening. We also ordered it during happy hour, which made it even more affordable. Definitely a great option if you're looking for a refreshing drink to enjoy with your meal. Crispy Chicken -- 10/10 I ordered the five-piece Crispy Chicken, and it arrived hot, fresh, and steaming. The chicken itself was a 10/10--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. What really elevated the dish was the combination of the lettuce wraps and sauce. Wrapping the crispy chicken in the lettuce and adding the sauce created an amazing balance of textures and flavors. I would definitely recommend this as an appetizer. Another bonus: it was available during happy hour, which made it an even better value. I was especially excited to see both the sake and Crispy Chicken on the happy-hour menu, and Hanna was kind enough to point that out when I was ordering. Now, Let's Get Into the Ramen Chicken Yuzu Shio Delight The Chicken Yuzu Shio ramen was really good. The noodles soaked up the flavorful chicken-based broth beautifully, making every bite rich and satisfying. The egg was one of my favorite parts--it had great flavor and was cooked nicely. The chicken also had a delicious grilled flavor that paired really well with the broth and noodles.

I originally wanted to order the Spicy Creamy V Ramen and didn't realize the V stood for vegan, oopsie. I was struggling between that and the Red but I really wanted some meat so I opted for the Red. I most definitely will be back for the spicy creamy it looks to dieeee. Staff always 10/10 super efficient and friendly, can never complain. After picking up countless orders from Gu Ramen Tap for DoorDash, I finally had the chance to dine in, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. A friend of mine was craving ramen, so we made an impromptu visit, and I was excited to finally try the food I had heard so much about from customers during my deliveries. As someone who was feeling like trying something different from noodles, I opted for the rice. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! It had a thick, hearty consistency that was both satisfying and comforting. You might think rice wouldn't stand out at a ramen place, but trust me, this was a worthy choice. To accompany the rice, we ordered a few appetizers, including pork pot stickers and cheese wontons. Both were fresh and flavorful, capturing that perfect balance of crispy exteriors and savory fillings. The pot stickers had a delightful crunch and paired nicely with the dipping sauce, making each bite a joy. The cheese wontons were a fun twist, creamy and cheesy without being overwhelming. We couldn't resist trying the lollipop chicken, and while the presentation was charming, the chicken itself was a bit undercooked. Despite that, the flavor was still solid, with a lovely glaze that added a nice sweetness. I couldn't help but think that switching the sauce and starting with the lollipop chicken as a base to complement the pot stickers might create a more balanced combination. It's just a small adjustment that could elevate the dish even further! The atmosphere at Gu Ramen Tap is casual and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring our dining experience was pleasant. Overall, my first visit to Gu Ramen Tap was a success, and I can confidently say I'll be back! The menu offers so many intriguing options that I can't wait to explore next time. If you're in the area and looking for a spot to satisfy your ramen cravings or if you're like me and want to try something off the beaten path Gu Ramen Tap is definitely worth a visit! read more

At GURamen, this spot is a modern take on ramen that leans more creative and customizable than traditional. The vibe is clean, trendy, and a bit upscale compared to your typical ramen shop, but still casual enough for a quick meal. The highlight here is definitely the build-your-own ramen concept. You get to choose your broth, noodle type, spice level, and toppings, which makes it easy to dial in exactly what you're craving. The broths are rich and flavorful--especially the tonkotsu-style base, which is creamy without feeling too heavy or greasy. The noodles have a nice chew, and they don't get soggy quickly, which is a big plus if you're someone who takes your time with your bowl. Chashu is tender and well-seasoned, and the soft-boiled egg is consistently done right with that jammy center. What stands out most is the consistency + customization combo. It's not trying to be the most traditional ramen in OC, but it's very dependable and lets you build something that fits your taste every time. The spicy options also actually bring heat, not just flavor. Service is quick and efficient, and the place is usually busy but turns tables fast. Overall, Guramen is a strong go-to in Irvine if you want ramen that's customizable, flavorful, and reliable--more modern ramen bar than old-school ramen shop, but it does that style well. read more

Every time I'm back in LA, there are certain places I HAVE to revisit, and GU Ramen is always on that list! I've tried my fair share of ramen spots, and I'm standing ten toes down on this one... NOBODY can beat their broth! Period! The broth is so rich, flavorful, and comforting. It's the kind of broth that makes you want to savor every last drop. Seriously, I have yet to find another ramen spot that gives me the same satisfaction. It's just THAT good! And please don't sleep on the chicken wings! They're packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The seasoning is on point, and they're the perfect addition to an already amazing bowl of ramen. GU Ramen is one of those places that makes me miss living in LA. There's something special about returning to an old favorite and realizing it's still just as good as you remember. read more

I came to Blue Bird expecting to find Juu coffee, and happened upon HTUNS (the "H" is silent). After looking down at the menu taped to the counter and seeing only Matcha and Tea, I asked, "but you still have regular coffee, right?" They did not, in fact, have regular coffee. And it's a good thing, because otherwise I never would have discovered this delicious treat. I got a BBL for breakfast. What I found out immediately was Burmese Brewed Latte, I ordered the BBL with a salted vanilla cream top. When I asked what it was exactly they told me it was a brewed black tea sweetened with cream and sweetened condensed milk. So I immediately was like ooooh, kinda like vietnamese coffee meets milk tea? And they were like sorta. The best way I can describe it is kind of like an iced tea with a cream foam topper?? I don't drink a lot of boba, but it's not as sweet, which I prefer. You can really still taste the tea which is so, so good. The foam itself is very light, and not overly vanilla-flavored. Just enough to make it creamy, but truly let the tea stand out. I didn't taste the salt at first, and then I got a piece in a sip and it was like a delightful little pop of flavor. That only happened a couple of times, but was so yum, otherwise the salt was just there to mellow out the sweetness, like melty vanilla ice cream. I feel like I'm going to be thinking about this tea all week until they come back next Tuesday. HTUNS will be popping up inside Blue Bird Sushi every Tuesday morning the rest of this month. They also plan to bring in breakfast as soon as next month. She said it wouldn't be traditional American breakfast, and I said good, that's the point!
