I stopped in for a late weekday lunch. My server Jasmine was friendly and provided just the right amount of attention. The Watermelon 'Rita is refreshing, and was served garnished with a huge slice of fresh watermelon. The bottom half of my tortilla chip basket was mostly just broken pieces of chip. The Bean Tostada that was part of the Rosita platter, was topped with tons of crispy fresh veggies. I honestly could've eaten just two of those for lunch and would've been fine. If you're a cheese lover, you'll enjoy the Cheese enchiladas in the Rosita too. Instead of being covered in traditional Tex-Mex chili gravy; it's just cheese on cheese on cheese. Service with the curbside pickup was disorganized and very slow. I waited 30 minutes past the designated pickup time. I'm not sure I would have ever received the food if I hadn't stopped the delivery person. Food was somewhat cool because it had sat so long. However, the family chicken fajitas were still real good. So we made a reservation for a surprise party for 7:00pm two weeks ahead of time and they confirmed, approved and told us over the phone it was all good. We got to the restaurant all 11 of us and they said we had to wait until the next party gets up. We waited and waited to the point where we were still waiting at 8pm...so an hour later until I went back up and asked again. They said they couldn't do anything since the other table was still seated and even paid already. We got in at 8:10 fortunately but it was still unbelievable on how long it was of a wait while already having reservations. Everything is always spot on here, and no wonder is always busy for Tex-Mex at any time of day o evening. Had the Tampico chicken this time with no cheese. Couple things I did notice for them to be a true 5 as I'd give 4.5. Avocado, they are very stingy on giving you much of it to have enough to enhance the whole chicken. Not enough, even a few small slices more would be sufficient for the meal. Also, they place venues and drink menus randomly around the bar...for looks? To get people to order? It's not a 5-star thing to do, especially since this is a very nice place inside. Server/ bartender should ask about menus or drink menu (customer service) as the bar should be slick and clean without the marketing on top. Otherwise, great establishment and fresh great food with outstanding employees. Dips for tortillas they bring out don't have the freshly made taste. The food is good, perhaps a bit more expensive than I had hoped. We started with some guacamole. Fresh and tasty, we really enjoyed it, especially with the fresh chiccharones. I saw a picture of the seafood relleno and had to try it. I liked it and would order it again. My daughter had a combo meal and liked it. We love Gringo's! This location is a newer one just built 2-3 years ago and we have been enjoying since it opened. Large parking lot, but it's so busy at peak times it can still be hard to find parking, but as all the lots are connected, you'll still find a spot. I recommend joining the waitlist for a table, as they do not do reservations, but I've never waited long when joining the waitlist. Service is very good as well even in busier times, and the food and drinks are always outstanding. Portion sizes are huge too, so my husband and I usually start off with our favorite appetizers (Cantina Nachos and Southwest Egg Rolls), then see if we're still hungry, and more than not we aren't. We are soooo happy to have Gringos in Katy! We've been twice since they opened and during our second visit we dined in. Gringos is taking precautions to ensure safety due to COVID-19. They have signs that ask for patrons to wait in their vehicles or outside until your party of guests gets called. I was excited to see that Gringos has a holiday menu from November 17th- December 31st. The holiday menu has my favorite thing on it which are the fried shrimp enchiladas. Very exciting because this entree was taken off the menu and I was so happy to see they brought it back for the holidays! The food was good as always and the service was excellent. Solid 3.5 We got on the waitlist which I would highly recommend before you get there because this place is packed. The staff is so friendly! From the hostess to our server, everyone was so nice. Everyone was wearing masks. The space between tables are not social distancing but thankfully we had a booth by the door so no one was behind us and there was glass between the other booth. The chips and salsa were good. My husband liked his enchiladas and said they were yummy.
