This dealer held my car key hostage and wouldn't give back my car key. I went in for a test drive. They asked me if I wanted to trade in my old vehicle. I gave them my car key so they can check the condition of my car and my VIN number. After negotiation, we couldn't agree on the price of a new RAV4. I asked if I could have my car key back so I could go home. After asking 4 times (4 TIMES) , I had to physically went into the area where all the car salesmen hang out to get me key. They use this dirty tactic to haggle with you and prevent customers to leave. Complaint to manager but got no respond. read more

I went in to Gresham Toyota on July 8 to purchase a Tacoma pickup. Jenny gave me a quote in writing for a truck that was in transit and would be here between 7/16 and 7/21. I was contacted on 7/15 that the truck was in and I could pick it up in the afternoon. I requested a total cost for the truck so I could write them a check and the price was $1800 more than the written quote. When I asked about the price increase I was told "due to supply/demand, pricing and incentives have changed" i was told that every truck that is in transit is either presold or reserved and it was going to be like that for the next 3-9 months. It was clear that if we wanted the truck, we were going to pay the extra $1800. Is that price gouging or bait and switch? read more

Dropped off my car off in the morning with a small (maybe 2 inch) crack in the windshield to get some unrelated work done. When I came to pick it up in the afternoon the crack was the full length of my windshield and when I asked about it was dismissed as just from the heat. 1. That small crack has been there for several weeks and sat out in much hotter days than this. 2. you tell me you did not touch the windshield but I had you replace my wiper blades so you were at least near the windshield at one point. We discussed the truck and I asked to have a few things done to it before I arrived and Ted was more than eager to help. My spouse and I can say our experience was vastly different from the previous reviews. We can't speak for all the salesmen but we can say our experience with Cort, Doug, and Jess was impeccable. We started off early and was greeted by Doug and we discussed with him on some of our options we are looking at for our growing family. We test drove the highlander and loved it but out in the corner of our eye we seen the Volvo XC90 2017 and decided to give it a whirl. We were in love and discussed the numbers with Cort and Doug that morning on what it would look like with the highlander and Volvo. We were already preapproved by our own bank and there was no pressure from the staff to run our credit or to push to complete the OFAC report. We thanked them for their time and help with the numbers as we were still car shopping that day. We told them we will be back if we decide to purchase a vehicle and we got the cards so that we can continue the deal. We decided to go to Audi of Wilsonville where we were stared at and not greeted by anyone. We eventually talked with a salesperson name Jason who assisted us in test driving a Q7 that was within our preapproved budget. We loved it as well but then things went astray as the customer service was vastly different than the one we received at Toyota of Gresham. Jason made us sign reports indicating it was an OFAC report to ensure we are a no flight risk so they would run a check but not a credit check. That was a lie and I got hit 3x on my phone for a possible fraud that my credit was ran from several banks for a preapproval. A few words were exchanged and Jason said they did what they had to so they can ensure we are the people we are and so we don't walk off with an expensive car. They knew everything about our credit history and started grilling us on how can we even afford a 32k car. We thanked him for his time and said the deal is off so we walked out and that is when Jason chased us accusing us of being criminals while my 2year old started to cry because someone was yelling at her daddy. I quickly moved the kids in the car as things started to turn ugly. No one from Audi came to deescalate the situation and still till this day the owner of the dealership has not said a peep on the lies and manipulation Jason said to us when he promised he wouldn't run our credit as we were already approved. Nor to apologize for the yelling Jason did to us to run us off the property when we said the deal is off. Later that night we returned to Toyota because we already knew their customer service and transparency is what we want in a dealership. The Volvo XC90 was above our budget we wanted to spend but we knew we could afford more so we decided to go with the XC90 instead of the Highlander due to the features and the fact that we are temporarily moving to Germany and those cars are more common out there. Cort and Jess were there but Doug was not so they helped us and they didn't look down on us or pressured us to buy a Toyota instead. They were focused on our experience and making sure we knew we were valued. The finance guy Trey was also friendly and they helped us through the process and we ended up getting approved through our other bank that we do business with and we left feeling valued and amazed by the impeccable service we received. Cort explained to us what the OFAC was and how the process for running our credit would be so we wouldn't have to see our credit ran through so many banks. I would say to give them a call if you are looking for a car. We went to Audi and they have the worse service but Toyota of Gresham does not. They value your business and it shows in how genuine they are when speaking with you. It wasn't a game with them or manipulation. It was ensuring we were comfortable and happy regardless if we bought a car or not. We will be back if we want a Toyota and if those sales people are still there you should ask for them because when we return back to the states and ready for another vehicle we will ask for them. On a side note, Cort sold our other family member a vehicle when he worked at a different dealership and they were pleased with his service and patience with them. read more

I couldn't be happier with my experience here at Gresham Toyota. My sales man Chris Moyer was great! Not only did he get me into a car that's going to last me a while but he is full service. He offered several times to buy me and my dad lunch (we didn't take him up on it), he is nice, kind, and was completely understanding of my budget. When a warranty was out of my budget, did what he could to get me one within my budget. I also left with a full tank of gas! Now, not only do I own a 2009 Camry, but I also have a warranty for the next year that covers everything but the tires, breaks and glass and I get 3 free oil changes for the next year. When I am able to buy something that is fun to drive, instead of a great commuter car I will definitely be going back and talking to Chris. Yikes! Why did I buy a truck here? I bought a 5 yr old Tundra. To begin with, they would not work with me on price at all. When I said I wanted a control brake, they dropped the price $150. . They told me that was the cost of an OEM brake controller. They were $200 off. So, whatever. I just wanted to get this over with. When I went to sign papers, the salesman/saleskid went to put gas in the truck. Awesome, right? I'm finally done with the paperwork, and they go to get me the keys...the salesman had them in his pocket and he went home. So, I couldn't even drive the truck home. It's kind of funny, since he was a young kid. So, I made plans to pick it up in the morning. I got there at the agreed time, he was there with the keys. He hands me the "key", and a taped up aftermarket fob. I guess I hadn't noticed when I drove the truck, maybe because the salesman went with me! Really, I'm not a shady looking character. So things that I might have noticed, I didn't because I was distracted. I asked about the one key, and because the vehicle is used they do nothing. I get in the truck with the one keys do start it up and there might be 1/8th of a tank! Really! You had to go to the gas station to get me almost NO GAS?? Wow! Now that's freakin cheap!! Again, it's because I bought a used truck. Now it's been 2 weeks and I found the overall check they did did not include all lights. The puddle lights under my mirrors do not work. So I went in to Toyota and the check they do is only for safety items, no more! How ridiculous is that? They can't replace a couple of light bulbs!! Rrr, cheap ass dealership!! Let me tell you that after I bought the truck I was checking it out the next day. Whoever detailed it should be shot!! There was so much crud on the seats, in the storage spaces, and in the seats I had to clean it myself! I had bought the expended warranty, because it covered everything. But it doesn't cover light bulbs!! Lastly, I went to the parts department to order a new key and fob. At least $150 for that, but then another $60 to program the fob, and another $60 to cut the key!!! Damn! And, though the guy who was helping me find the answers was nice, he sure didn't know much about anything. I also have a Subaru, and I routinely take my car to Gresham Subaru for oil changes and whatnot. I waited over an hour once for new tires to be installed, and they felt so bad they gave me a free detail job. It was like a car is supposed to be when you buy it at a dealership. Gresham Toyota can't even get it clean the first time!! So, I've ordered a key and fob, I have an appt to pick those up and have them programmed and cut. We will see how that goes. I'm thinking about going to a different dealer to get this taken care of, since my dealer is charging full price for every stinkin thing. If this is their policy, to be so damn stingy, I will never buy a car from them again. The staff were nice though. They were just doing their jobs. They must have had a huge turnover in staffing though. Everyone I talked to was New and didn't know a thing. First, I would say don't purchase a car from any Gresham dealership period. But as far as Gresham Toyota, I purchased a car in January. They force you to purchase a $1000 protection plan against theft that you can't decline. Oh, but I do get one free oil change from them. GEE, thanks. They push their whatever-point inspection in all cars before they put them up for sale. 2 days later after regretfully purchasing, I almost got in an accident where I tried alerting the other driver by honking my horn but to my surprise it didn't work at all pushed in any direction with any and all pressure. Some inspection. Utopia what else is wrong with the car. Called them and directed me to service dept that puts you in the back burner and I don't have hours to drive to Gresham and leave this hazardous vehicle with them. Some customer service . After purchase lack of care on Gresham Toyota! Bought a 2020 pickup here at the end of 2019 and everything went smooth until we got the truck home. We love the truck, but dealing with the dealership afterwards was less than desirable. It all started with the temporary travel permit expiring without getting the new plates. The sales associate that we called was nothing but helpful, but the title clerk and business manager acted like it was no big deal and just wait or drive anyhow. A package was supposedly sent containing the license plates next day USPS and tracking showed label was created but nothing after that. Another call back and received another temporary permit to expire in another 3 days. Oh that was next day USPS also. That permit expired and still no plates. So a visit to dealership and title clerk not available so wait another day. No call the next day so I call them. Once again dealership takes no ownership for their screwup. I'm told it should be in the mail but that I can't track it until it's delivered which is incorrect because miraculously we check tracking and it is in USPS facility in Portland and expected to be delivered shortly. I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure they created the label and didn't mail it right away. Probably sat on someone's desk. It was totally Gresham Toyota's fault and tracking the package confirmed that. I probably would've been a whole lot less irritated if they would have said they messed up and apologized. I gave a 2 star rating because I really liked the sales associate and she would've gotten a 5 star rating if the rest of upper management gave a damn! read more

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. My husband and I bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from Linda. 8 months later it broke down. Service will never call you back. Took 2 days to talk to someone. They told us to get it towed in for diagnostics. Complete waste of money and time, when we get there they tell us they don't even have the proper equipment to diagnose it!!!!!! No one even tried to help us. We had to WALK up the street to another dealership because they wouldn't even let us get a loaner even if we paid for it. Constantly lying to us, no one new what the policies were of the next department and constant let downs, the whole time trying to be up sell us. Just felt completely hustled. Don't do business with these people. Horrible horrible horrible experience. Go somewhere else. This place is AWFUL! read more

If your looking to buy a car, do yourself a favor and find it somewhere else! I bought a car from this dealership in March of 2018, and If I would have seen some of the reviews including BBB, I would have stayed far away. I left one star, because there was no option for 0 stars! I drove 10 hours from California to get to this dealership. I did research on cars, and found the one I wanted at this dealership, which California didn't have this particular model (ECO). With all the hassles, inconveniences, rude employees, incompetent management and unclassy upper management I now own a car from this business. I came in with my own financing, and told them up front I had my own financing, but you know how unethical car dealerships and car sales people can be... after fighting with management about them claiming "the Patriot Act" and running my credit were two different things... they claim they have to run your credit to verify who you are. All lies.... they do nothing but lie at this dealership. From the management to the car salesman I had... to yes, the business manager (the person that tries to sell you stupid money wasting warranties and GAP insurance). All I can say is stay away from this place. Not sure of all the names of the people I dealt with when I purchased, but I can tell you that it was at least 10 people... so if you go in and see a weasel- that would be your car sales person... if you see a guy that limps and is a little chubby with gray hair- that would be the shady manager that tried to kick me out of the dealership for asking about the price of the car... if you see a dark complected asian man with bad taste in style- that would be your quote unquote "business manager" as he calls it. LOL. And the two other trolls that work in there are the 'upper management' who classify as the manager of the dealership and the general manager. This place caused me so many problems... I should have saved my money with all the traveling, and just bought here in California or some other place in Oregon. UPDATE 10/15/21: The sliding door issue was repaired by a different dealer (Toyota of Glendora in California) and yes, it was all COVERED by the service agreement. Shame on Gresham Toyota for refusing to do the work and telling us that it would not be covered. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Buying a car was a great experience (salespeople are really helpful!), but DO NOT buy any type of service contract with a promise that their service department will take care of you because THEY WILL NOT. We have brought our minivan in a few different times and have been told every time that it's not covered or that there will be additional fees, even though the finance person promised that we were purchasing a "bumper to bumper warranty" and that their service department would take care of us. We are currently faced with an issue with the automatic sliding door closing on its own if the car is even slightly parked facing downhill and again they talked about additional fees to diagnose the problem, even though my husband had the service contract in his hand. We have called the finance department REPEATEDLY, left messages, and it literally took a month to hear back from someone. The original finance person - Brian Griffin - who has received several voicemails from us, still has not contacted us. We are now too far in proximity from Gresham Toyota to use their service department for this issue and are faced with a $100 deductable to get the work done elsewhere. Thom in the service department is who we have always had to deal with. He is the one who claims that our service plan will not cover the work we need. The only time we got anything done was when, after he said no, we went straight from the service department to the sales department and got someone to walk us back over to get the help we needed. It seemed like he just didn't want to do the work, but begrudgingly did it when he was told he needed to. BUYER BEWARE if you are interested in purchasing any extra service protection. Gresham Toyota is not where you want to go to get help with that. I am so disappointed in the finance department for selling us a service plan that their service department refuses to honor. read more

If I could give a 0 rating I would. I found a great deal for a 2018 RAV4 at Gresham Toyota. Have looked a long time for this particular car. List price $30,492. We emailed back and forth for a couple of days and I got pictures and lists of detail lists of all options on the car. I said I was interested and would drive the 4 hours from Richland to Gresham to see it the next day. i asked for an out-the-door final price. I was stunned. Their final price was $36,179: they added $6,000 worth of add-ons and options: $2,000 repair work to get it ready to sell, premium mats and Special color $500, optional equipment that comes on all RAV4 Limited cars $2,000, Handling and processing fee, $1,000, Push button liftgate $300.00 etc. etc. The did NOT include my Washington State Sales Tax and any Warrantees. This would have taken this $30,000 car to $42,000. This was a total scam. I have the contract in hand if you need proof. Two days late I purchased the same car from AutoNation, Spokane Valley. They adverse their no haggle, advertised price on all vehicles and the only add-on is state sales tax (when required) and a $150 closing fee. Period. I got the same 2018 RAV4 limited, Special Pearl White with Liftgate, all factory options, all certified points taken care of, paid my state Tax of $3300 and got the full bumper to bumper 6 year warranty at half price. Wayne, a sales rep, had been right there, and he immediately was able to get on my level and talk to me like a real person. He took me through the steps and got me into the car I wanted. He was very thorough and patient, showing me all of my new Corollas features and even enlightening me to the drastic difference in gas by showing me the receipt when he filled it up. I had the worst experience at this dealership today. I stopped by in the afternoon with my husband and sister in hopes of finding a good deal on a used vehicle. We met a nice young lady that was trying to log in to one of the computers to help us find what they had in stock. That's when another older sales lady came over to our small table and told her rudely to move out of the way and told us to move so that she could help the couple that was with her. We stood to the side and noticed that the other employees where making fun of what had just happened in front of us. That's when I got ahold of the manager named Bill and told him how we where treated and demanded that they help our sales girl get access to a computer. I also pointed out to him the people who where making fun of us and our sales girl. I doubt he will do anything! We left with out buying a car and having wasted our time there. After having seen how they treat one another, how could we expect to be treated fairly? read more

Although I can't say we got the best deal on our 2019 Rav4 Hybrid due to the fact that it supposedly was it high demand, Lonnie, the salesman we worked with, was excellent in how he interacted with us during the sale and afterward. Lonnie gave the strong impression he was trying to help us and not hustle us. Furthermore, days after the sale, Lonnie spent a prolonged period of personal time with us, explaining the various functions of the vehicle's electronics. On labor day weekend of 2019 I went to Gresham Toyota to purchase a Toyota 4 Runner. I met sales person Mandy who showed me around and I chose one that I liked the most and was ready to buy it for a cash price of about $4000 less than their asking price. But before I made any offer I told her that I didn't want to deal with her assistant sales manager Aladdin because I had bad experience with him last year when I was going to buy a new Toyota Tacoma for all cash price. Mandy assured me that Aladdin would not have anything to do with this year's purchase. Although I was ready to pay all cash for this 4 Runner Mandy was told that she had to make copies of my driving license and Insurance card before she would even take my offer to her assistant manager (Aladdin). I told her that I didn't want her to take a copy of my ID card and insurance information before we negotiate the price. She said that this is their rule that she has to follow before taking my offer to her manager. Since I kind of liked the car and I wanted to buy it I gave her my ID and Insurance card to make copies of them. However she assured me that if the deal doesn't go through they will shred my information. If an Identity theft happens to me my first suspects would be Gresham Toyota and Toyota Corporation. She took my offer and my information to her manager and came back with another sales person who identified himself as a manager and countered my offer with a ridiculously high price. Mean while it was Aladdin who was in the background telling these sales people what to do and what to say. Since Aladdin wasn't willing to sell the car for a good all cash offer price I decided to get up and leave and not deal with him any more. I asked Mandy to have the dealership GM to call me. After one whole week I still haven't heard of him. This should tell you a lot about how much he cares about their customers. Last year when I gave a cash offer price for their Toyota Tacoma Aladdin didn't want to even discuss a counter offer. He is so disrespectful that he got up and walked away because I asked him if he was Indian. This Arab guy took this as an insult. He probably doesn't know that about one fourth of all doctors and nurses in the hospitals and even scientists at NASA are Indian. Indians are well-educated and smart people. It should be an honor for an Arab to be mistakenly referred to as an Indian. This Aladdin guy knows nothing about customer relationship and or the art of negotiation. His attitude made me so disappointed that I am planning to go to Hyundai dealership and buy a 2020 loaded Palisade for exact same price that I was offering for a 4 Runner that doesn't even have a simple navigation system.
