This location of Gregorys Coffee has fast become on my short list of coffee places near work. The location is super convenient, the store is generally always clean, and the staff is friendly and super helpful :) Of course, the coffee is quite good too! I am easily put off by the burnt taste/smell of coffee beans and thankfully, I have never had that issue at Gregorys :) My favorite is Hall and Oats - I order that most of the times. If I am in the mood to "cheat" on my fav, then I go for Honey Badger Iced Mocha. I have tried a few of their food items and like the power bites - Peanut Butter Banana power bite, and Double Almond bites. It's always interesting to try new coffee places for me, and to find a new favorite is that much more delicious! read more

Intro: I've embarked on a journey to check out all of DC's coffee shops as part of my recovery process from a tough relationship breakup. Getting myself out of the house by checking out places outside of my comfort zone aka where I'm a regular for my coffee/cafe fix (Compass Coffee & Wydown on H). My visit to Gregory's Coffee in Dupont Circle/Farragut Square: - Mid-week, Middle of the day. Sunny, chilly day in March. Apparently this shop recently opened. My Experience -- the Pros: - Rice Chex Treats (think Rice Krispie treat) were a nice twist on the light afternoon snack. Good texture & not overly sickeningly sweet. There's also a strawberry version which looked too brightly colored pink for my interest. - Small but decent selection of interesting American-style, heavy sweets (muffins, donuts, scones incl a gluten-free scone & options, etc). - Oat milk available as an alternative option - The seating in the vestibule will be prime real estate once the weather won't be blasting freezing air everytime someone opens a door. - The cafe's thermostat isn't set at a frigid temperature and/or gets a lot of good sunlight from Connecticut Ave for a productive work atmosphere among the plentiful seating. I did not feel overly cramped here. - Outlets at every seating area. Impressive. My Experience -- the Cons: - The workers are very rude & disgruntled. This is not the cafe I'd come to regularly to brighten my day w a smile along w my coffee. - My drink(s) of choice is steamed oat milk + 1 shot of espresso. I order it just so, and I'm fine whether it comes dumped into one cup or if they come separately as intended. What doesn't make me happy is when I'm charged $5 for a small latte, particularly when the milk is not steamed with no froth or foam hence not at all even a latte. - The trash bin by the door doesn't seem to be the most intelligible design for a coffee shop? (See picture) - A patron hogged the cocoa powder on her table. I understand this isn't the fault of the business owners, but it would be prudent to post a label by the self-service area. My evaluation compared to my gold standards in DC: Gregory's is not worth a second trip unless it's for a coffee date or meeting in the vestibule seating area. read more

Starbucks has better service, which says a lot. My croissant was burnt to a crunch and they refused to add honey to my iced matcha to mix it in. The Starbucks on L st will make whatever to your tastes and has larger sizes, but Blank Street Coffee on Connecticut Ave is significantly better quality. I resisted the urge to ask how they know the "dark enough" coffee was really "dark enough" (it was fine, or better than fine). I resisted the urge to buy one of the peanut butter or almond butter balls the person in front of me got, but knowing those are available I'll plan accordingly for my next trip. read more

New coffee shop just by Farragut north metro on Connecticut. I had the oat milk latte and it's great. They also have non-espresso lattes such as turmeric latte and matcha latte. I like that they carry oat, almond, and soy milk. Environment is hip and I love the plants. Lots of tables and very clean. Free WiFi. Gregory's Coffee was the PERFECT spot for hosting our coffee and pastries party (post-wedding at The Mayflower.) The team did an absolutely AMAZING JOB! Andrei (the store manager) kept us informed of quantities and any guest needs, and was constantly putting out delicious muffins (blueberry and banana chocolate chip), scones (cranberry walnut), and banana and carrot pound cake, among other delights!! From the second we contacted her, Jasmin (the regional manager) also was incredible to work with! She was super responsive and the whole experience was terrific. I almost walked right past this gem! A nice and relaxing coffee shop with some seriously delicious looking baked goods and breakfast yogurt bowls prepared for pickup. I went a little wild on this balmy February stroll and tried their Honey Badger- a cold brew with almond milk and honey- this coffee beverage was giving me LIFE. I had been noticing the new coffee shop but out of habit kept going to Starbucks. Finally, i remembered and went to Gregory's Coffee!! The atmosphere is sooo cute, i love the set up and it just gives off a nice vibe! The best part of the experience was the absolute wonderful staff and the manager! The store manager, which i found out his name was Leon was so pleasant and welcoming! Once i told him it was my first time he gave me the entire run down of everything! I decided on a iced macchiato which was absolutely amazing ! Fast forward to the next day, i was greeted by Dwayne who was equally as pleasant as the store manager! He remembered me from the day before and treated as if we had been friends for years! I ordered my same order and a barista by the name of Juwan offered his newest creation. I said yes and couple minutes later he presented me with a French Toast Iced Macchiato! absolutely delish and taste exactly like French toast!! Needless to say this place is better than Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts! From the coffee to the pastries and the staff! I love this place and it has become apart of my morning routine! Even if the coffee wasn't all that good, the staff made the experience worth coming back!!! I wanted to meet a friend I hadn't seen in awhile at a place where we could have great coffee and some light breakfast fare. I had never been, but had wanting been to try Gregorys Coffee as I had heard they had vegan options. We walked into this location and found very friendly staff welcoming us. I first ordered a soy latte - which my mouth found tasted like amazing perfection! In addition something I can't do often as a vegan, I ordered both savory and sweet breakfast foods. I first ate they very yummy Vegan Scramble sandwich made with tasty focaccia bread, vegan scramble, vegan cheese, and a few drops of sriracha sauce. Yum. Yum. Yum. I also had their vegan scone a perfect accompaniment to my latte! Gregorys - thank you so very much for offering so many yummy vegan options! I've never heard of Gregory's but we just checked into the hotel next door and I needed an afternoon pick me up. I love this place! My cappuccino was absolutely delicious and strong. But the most unique thing about this place is the different cold brew coffees, especially the coconut water infused one. One of the baristas was kind enough to give me a sample when she saw me looking at the menu. They also have a variety of wellness drinks that I'm super pumped about. The place was spotless, clean and organized. I'm sadly only here in DC one more night, but I definitely plan on coming here tomorrow morning....and maybe before I catch my flight :) read more

This little coffee shop was right around the corner from our hotel, so we hit it up a few different times while staying at the Mayflower. I wouldn't say there's anything particularly unique about this place, as it seems to offer all the standard fare at a quick breakfast/coffee shop, but they do have exceptionally speedy service, which is a real plus whether you are on your way to work or ready to start a day of sightseeing. read more

I'm glad Gregorys now has quite a few locations in DC since I enjoyed past visits in NYC. They have so many alternative milk options that it's easy to try new variations on the same drink and I was excited to add macadamia milk to my lattes in the past as it's difficult to find at other cafes! I enjoy the variety of specialty drinks on their menu, especially the honey badger and iced mocha on warm days! I especially like the Connecticut Ave location since it stays open later than some of their other locations and it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I look forward to my next visit! read more

Great tasting coffee really good baked goods. However, customer service is pretty abysmal here. I stayed nearby and stopped in every morning for coffee. Out of four visits the staff during the first three times were either sullen, disinterested, or acted like I was bothering them. On the fourth visit the young lady who assisted me, actually greeted me with a smile and said thank you after my purchase something the previous three staff that I encountered were unable to do.. I don't know if I'll return on my next trip. read more

It's a small space and there's always maskless patrons sitting around on their laptops for long periods, very near the baristas. Why do you frequent a coffee bar? Certainly the quality of the coffee matters, and the quality of the food as well. For me, though, the quality of the staff is what brings me back. I can make excellent coffee and cappuccino at home, but the warm welcome from the barista and the sense of belonging is paramount. This is the formula Italy developed and that is, occasionally, found alive and well in the United States. The best exemplar of this coffee culture that I've found in DC is the Gregorys on Connecticut Ave. The other locations are good as well. I still have on the lock screen of my phone a perfect cappuccino made by Jacob. I hope all the baristas are doing well. read more
