First I love their bread. It is the only bread I eat, that resembles the taste and texture of bread back home in Europe. Now they have opened the sandwich shop too. Having lunch here today and love the simplicity of a sandwich on such quality bread, yummy. Had a California Cobb on Dakota bread, great. Going into this bakery shop on the cold Fall Monday morning was the best decision I made today. Their have put out so many tasting choice. I like the harvest chocolate chip pound cake best but it was quite a lot. So I chose the harvest berry vegan muffin, which is also good! I hate to say it, but La Farm has just been unseated as my goto bakery. Not only is GH's bread super tasty and healthy, but the employees are about the friendliest I have run into. Plus, even though it is a franchise named business, each one is family owned and allowed tons of freedom in what ingredients they use and what products they make. When I walked in on Saturday, I was immediately greeted by a super genuine girl who began cutting up fresh samples of all the breads/sweets they had featured for the day. Each of the tastes were delicious and I literally could have made a meal out of it. When I inquired about the ingredients, I found out that almost all the baked goods are made from whole wheat that is freshly ground in house everyday. No wonder it's so good and lasts so long (7-10 days on the counter at home). Monthly, a new menu comes out listing the seasonally changing breads (hello pumpkin loaf). No more bag bread from the grocery store or non-whole grain from local bakeries for me. read more

The location is close to the house, the people could not be any friendlier if they tried, I always leave with a sample bigger than my head, and they grind their own whole wheat daily..... yes it is a little slice of heaven (no sliced bread pun intended!) The cinnamon chip bread makes the best sweet toasty treat, the honey whole wheat can swing both sweet and savory, anything they make swirled (i.e. pumpkin swirl) could be a dinner party dessert, and the breakfast bars made at the bakery fuel my day at least twice a week! They have a bread board with a free sample of your choice as soon as you walk in. And you won't get better customer service. The staff is always friendly and so helpful. You can't really go wrong with whatever you choose - I like the honey whole wheat, but once my kids and husband tried the farmhouse white that's all they will eat. And they have so much more than just sandwich bread. Specialty breads for holiday occasions, pepperoni/spinach rolls, and their challah bread are only a few examples of their greatness. Join their email club for menus (they change monthly), specials, and the occasional coupon. The bread is awesome. But I like coming here because of the service. When I bring the little ones, they get treated as all-stars by the always friendly staff. The free samples are seen as big treats by the 2 and 4 year olds. Our daughter dropper hers on the way out the door once, and before she could start crying, they were handing her another piece. As for the foods, we love the honey wheat bread. It makes the most amazing french toast. When we want to be naughty, we'll get the bacon-cheese-beer bread for the cheese and jalapeño loaf. My only complain is I haven't memorized their baking schedules yet, so it's always a surprise (for me!) what treats I'll get to choose from when I visit. read more

One of the best fresh bread places you'll ever visit in Cary with humorous and courteous staff and savory bread that will have you wanting to come back for more. I went there yesterday to buy a loaf of their Gouda and Stout bread (from their March bread special which I've been eyeing ever since I read their online menu here from Yelp). Upon entering I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who sliced me off a generous sample slice of the Gouda and Stout and I was blown away on a magic carpet ride of beer & cheese flavored bread. It made me feel manly in a good way. I was so impressed and satisfied that I ended up buying an extra loaf to impress a male crush of mine (he was pleasantly ecstatic when I surprised him with it) and two Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. I've tried one of the cookies, they are tastebud pleasing as well. Conclusion: Go there if you want to experience a glorious new world of bread outside of the grocery store. :) read more

I mean just an A+ place, really! First of all, they give out whole slices of bread as samples and actually encourage you get a sample. Finally, a place that doesn't make me feel guilty about eating samples. It's really a genius business move because every sample I have tried I have needed up buying a load of. Oops! The garlic and cheddar bread is awesome! I think I could eat an entire loaf. This flavor also comes in buns which really make a burger awesome. We also love the cinnamon swirl bread they have. It is so good!!! The Mexican chocolate tea cake is good and has a unique kick at the end. All of their breads are moist and super fresh. If you get bread they offer to slice it for you which really reduces the work for you later at home. They are closed on Sundays and they have a different menu everyday so depending on what you want, you will need to check ahead. Really REALLY impressed with this company. My parents asked me to find them whipped honey, something they hadn't had in a long time. I saw on the website that they had some and made a visit. I was pleased that they had two kinds - 100% honey and honey mixed with cinnamon. Each jar was $6.95, pretty reasonable IMO. They also had some tasty looking jams and, of course, plenty of different kinds of bread, muffins, cookies, and bread mixes. I bought a loaf of the Extreme Cinnamon Swirl and can't wait to try it (heck, I'd be happy just to smell it all day). The staff members were super nice and took their time with each customer to talk about the different breads and how they make them (they grind the grain themselves). I noticed they have a reading club for kids and after the kids have done their reading, they get a free cookie. I'm sure their website probably has more info on that. My daughter and I love Great Harvest Bread! Stopping in for friendly smiles and delicious bread is a regular part of our routine. The aptly-named Extreme Cinnamon Swirl bread is out of this world (though Cinnamon Chip will also do in a pinch)! I love that Great Harvest gives back to the community as well. I've seen Great Harvest at local races handing out slices of bread to runners, and I've seen the owner, dressed as "Kernel Wheat", demonstrating wheat grinding at the Harvest Festival in Raleigh. Kids can submit completed coloring sheets to receive a free (oversized) cookie. Good people + good bread = double win! read more

This place! I'm hooked. Let's start with the FRIENDLY staff! Then there's the samples. By samples I mean SNACKS. They enthusiastically feed you! I say snacks because a slice of bread is more than a sample. The extreme cinnamon is yummy! Smear some cream cheese on that bad boy and call it heaven. The pepperoni bread is delish as well! I'm pretty sure everything is tasty, but in fairness I am only mentioning items that have made it into my mouth. Now...we have to talk about the Savannah Bars. I am a sucker for fruit filling and crumble topping. These bad boys had me at first glance. The cookies didn't even have a chance sitting next to these. There are three sections of the SB: crust, fruit filling, and crumble. The crust is a crunchy coconuty layer. Solid enough to hold the other two, but soft enough to still be moist and delicious. The fruit filling...ohhhhh my. Perfectly sweetened and plenty of it. This is no thin layer of a jam spread. We are talking about chunks of fruit. Quite honestly as good as it gets, some of the best bread(s) I have had. I love everything about this place, the first time I visited was because they were having a bake-sale of some sort on a Sunday, benefiting a co-workers daughters swim team or something. One of the best decisions ever! :) I love the fact that they offer you a little slice/sample of something when you walk in the door. The exact words that greeted me last time I stepped in were "lets get you something to eat", as the woman behind the counter proceeded to cut me a slice of their bread for the day. Offer me a free slice of awesomeness when I step in, and you pretty much have me sold! Stuff I've really liked : (1)Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread/Cake : divine! They dont make this everyday though, as I found out the hard way on my last visit :( (2) Ginger, Blueberry sugar tea-cake : lives up to its rather long name :). Had this when I couldnt find (1). (3) They had a bread that had cheese and pesto, I forget what it was called exactly but it hit the spot! :) They do have a weekly/daily menu that means different items are available on different days, so might be good to look that up on their website before heading out. I recently served a loaf of bread from Great Harvest and watched it disappear before my eyes. It was delicious and everyone kept taking slices, slathering them with butter, eating them and coming back for more. That hasn't happened since, hmmm, France. This is a franchise, owned by the Williams'. The flours are the best to be found, most coming from Montana. The owners are there to tell you all about the different items and to give you generous samples of anything you want to try. When I was in there Friday, one woman and her daughter seemed to be having their lunch. They kept tasting bread after bread after cookie after bread but not quite making up their minds about what they wanted. The owner was so gracious through it all, while I was getting a bit impatient. Rest assured, this is a class-act operation with delicious breads and wonderful, caring service. What more could you ask for?! read more

Best breads in the Triangle without a doubt. Sometimes is the simple things that are most enjoyable and this is the place for that. Not pretentious or over done in any way. Just great bread and the best staff in the area. You just want to hang out and talk and eat the free samples of their breads. Everything is fresh and good and relatively healthy (lots of whole wheat). La Farm is good if you're looking for French breads, but they can't hold a candle to Great Harvest's service and fun attitude. Personally I like GH breads better also.
