Grains Bowl
Haley B.

This was the first time I've been to CAVA and it was just outstanding! I ordered the grains bowl with brown rice, tzatziki, traditional hummus, harissa, spicy lamb meatballs, fire roasted corn, pickled onions, tomato & cucumber, shredded romaine, lemon herb tahini and greek vinaigrette with the free side pita. As someone who's never really had Mediterranean food in the past, I was deeply impressed and thought this food was so delicious. The lamb meatballs had a perfect amount of spice to them that was well balanced by the lemon herb tahini. My only complaint would be that it only came with 4 meatballs and I expected a bit more since it was a $2 up-charge. Overall I had a great time at this CAVA location and I'm happy with how quickly the food came out and how amazing it tasted.

Solid experience but nothing really stands out as amazing. The staff were very friendly but each table was really dirty. We sat outside because those were the cleanest. Flavor overall was okay, just a little bland. Nothing was bad so it was still a decent experience if you want to grab quick Mediterranean food. I likely won't be back because the meats had no seasonings them. Their taziki was definitely the best thing they had !

Falafel create your own bowl

Still a fan of Cava. The portions are large and the bowls are customizable. They have signature bowls, but I usually opt for the create your own bowls. The available toppings and upcharges are clearly displayed. I forgot to read my previous review and ordered falafel at my more recent visit. The falafel continues to be disappointing. Small portion, no flavor, poor texture. If you want falafel and are open to another protein I recommend doing 1/2 and 1/2. You still get about the same falafel (3 small pieces rather than 4) and get another 1/2 portion of protein. The rest of the items (saffron basmati rice, supergreens, tzatziki, harissa, pickles, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, etc.) were great. The harissa paste is flavorful and spicy! Soft pita is included as a side and you can also purchase fried pita. Although the fried pita is better seasoned, it tastes greasy. Service was quick and all the items were stocked. Overall, I enjoy coming here for a quick, nutritious meal and recommend it to others!

I visited CAVA and placed my order at 9:21 PM, well before the restaurant's closing time of 10:00 PM. I ordered the Honey Harissa Chicken, but the cook behind the counter informed me that it was unavailable and that only plain chicken was left. However, as a former CAVA employee, I know that making Honey Harissa Chicken simply requires mixing one scoop of harissa with one scoop of honey--something that was always done when I worked there to ensure all proteins remained available until closing. It's concerning that certain proteins seem to become unavailable before closing, even when a simple solution exists to prepare them. This is frustrating for customers who expect the full menu to be available until the posted closing time. If certain proteins are not served after a specific time, this policy should be clearly communicated online or in-store rather than leaving customers uncertain about what will be available. I hope management addresses this inconsistency to improve the customer experience.

Dante and Ashley helped me tonight and were the kindest most understanding people ever- I came in after a super long work week 30 minutes before closing and I've never been to cava before so I came in confused. They didn't act annoyed like most places would have, they explained all the choices happily, made my bowl incredibly, and even ran back to get me a fresh side that I didn't realize was empty right before closing, served with a smile, and just were the kindest people. Dante and Ashley your kindness will always stick with me thank you!

I always get a grain and veggie bowl with half spicy lamb and chicken. I top it with olives, romaine, red pepper hummus, and date vinegarette dressing. Cava has delicious options and more than enough for lunch or dinner. The last time I visited, I didn't feel every ingredient in my bowl was fresh enough. The lack of freshness resulted in the 3*.

Cava use to be one of my favorite places for a quick bite but in the past year it only been getting more and more disappointing. From messed up to go orders, messed up meat, and small portions, it been disappointing to see how downhill it has gone. This time around we went at 4:30 on a Sunday and the place was out of all types of lettcue but spinach. They were out of alot of meat options and some sauces. It really sucked because you come in expecting it but they literally were out of a wide selection of options. They no longer ask if you want to have the pita bread that each bowl comes with. I always have to ask for it. Which means if you didn't know it came with it you would not get it. Speaking about the pita bread, it has become smaller every year and no longer served fresh and warm but cold. I am hoping this locations gets better like it use to be. I mean in the past it was always an amazing experience so it so sad to see how it is now.

Ashley was super friendly! Allowed me to sample the different items, since this was my first time. She offered experience and spot on suggestions. She was very knowledgeable. The food was yummy. Lamb meaty were juicy. The variety was nice. In the end it was extremely salt!!!

Falafel Crunch Bowl

I understand that placing an online order at noon likely coincides with their busiest time of the day. However, that shouldn't justify cutting corners on quality. Just because I wasn't physically in the store doesn't mean my order should be any less carefully prepared. The "drizzle" of Skhug sauce was not accurate - the entire bowl was drowned in Skhug and I couldn't even tell if they gave me any crazy feta or taziki because of it. The bowl I received was disappointing and definitely not worth the $13 I paid. Extremely dissatisfied with this experience.

I usually order the two chicken skewer kabobs with rice, a super salad, and the jalapeño cilantro hummus. The hummus is *so* good that I often grab a small container to take with me when I travel. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and you can really tell they use quality ingredients, especially with olive oil as a base. They offer both fresh pita and gluten-free pita, which is great for anyone with dietary restrictions. Honestly, I could make a meal just out of all the sides--they're that good. The menu is consistently solid, and I feel like you really can't go wrong with anything you order. It's a perfect spot for a low-key lunch or dinner. Also worth noting: on Tuesdays, kids eat free with a paying adult, which is a great bonus for families. Highly recommend!

The space could use some cosmetic updates, but everything was clean and the food was clearly made fresh, which mattered more to me. What we ordered:* Super Mix Grill* Falafel appetizer* Kunefe* Baklava The mix grill was the standout. The meats were tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The flavors were a little different from the Turkish food I'm used to from friends' family cooking, but still very enjoyable. The salad that came with the meal was okay, but not my favorite. Desserts were excellent, both the kunefe and baklava were absolutely worth ordering and a great way to end the meal. My husband said the desserts were a little sweet but they are supposed to be so I ignored him but be prepared for that. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely give it another try. This feels like a good spot for a low-key, no-wait dinner when you're craving Turkish food.

Ambience was a family atmosphere and of course the food was really good. I ordered a platter with different kind of dips and pita bread which is of course seems like as if it was made in house because it was soft and delicious. My family ordered chicken Shawarma and two lamb platters, which was equally delicious. In my opinion. The platters came with a lot of bulgar wheat and cabbage salad, which was nice to balance the protein. On our way out we tried the dates and I have never eaten those kind of delicious dates ever before. Place do offer the buffet in the evening. All in all, it was a great place to sit and enjoy with delicious food.

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

The quality and portions are excellent--no skimpy skewers, no mystery meat. It genuinely reminds me of the Persian and Afghani kebab shops in Northern Virginia that know their way around a charcoal grill. Everything tastes clean, well-seasoned, and cooked with intention. A couple of small suggestions (because nothing is perfect): I'd love to see a wider variety of sauces for the kebabs, and personally, I'd prefer a larger piece of taftoon bread instead of the pita slices. That said--credit where it's due--the pita tastes fresh and not like it was pulled straight from a plastic bag, which already puts them ahead of most places. Bottom line: this is the best kebab spot I've found in the area, hands down. Highly recommend--and yes, I'll absolutely be back.

This is located close to Milklab, which I also reviewed here on Yelp. My girl ordered a gyro wrap, then the young adult cashier asked if we wanted to add fries & drink for additional $3+. She asked if she can swap the fries for another side: baba ghannouj, our favorite Mediterranean side dish, and the cashier said she can. The menu overhead is clear, so we didn't have trouble deciding what to order. I ordered the Kebab Platter - Double Skewer that comes with salad, rice, a tiny cup of tzatziki, a tiny cup of salad dressing, and pita bread. Platter costs $15.99 + additional $1.99 because I chose lamb kebab. We also ordered the 4-piece falafel & a lamb kofta skewer. Total cost was about $50+. As always, we tried each other's foods, split the falafel & lamb kofta. The lamb gyro wrap was delicious with fresh meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The few bites I had of the gyro were pure bliss; part of me wish I ordered a gyro wrap too, but I wanted us to have different orders. The baba ghannouj that came with her gyro was excellent unlike what we tried from Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro (BGM Bistro). The texture of the mashed eggplant and mix of spices were perfect, and the amount was good enough for the 2 of us to share. I also enjoyed my double skewer lamb kebab platter. The salad was fresh, the basmati rice wasn't as sopisticated as other spiced varieties but it went well with the lamb kebab, fresh from the grill. However, for an $18+ meal, wish it included another small side like baba ghannouj. BGM Bistro's platters let you choose 2 sides along with the rice and salad for about the same price, so you get more value there but the baba ghannouj tastes better here. Falafel is a good-tasting side, about the same quality as BGM Bistro's. It comes with tahini sauce. The lamb kofta skewer, which looks like a sausage, was well-spiced and went well with tzatziki. Our orders were served in less than 12 min, and we had to pick up our trays at the front when they were ready instead of bringing to our table. It looks like this is the kind of place that's better for take out than dine in as the ambiance isn't inviting. There was one area where the floor was left uncleaned and the dull illumination of the fluorescent lights inside doesn't make this restaurant ideal for a romantic date. We were somewhat satisfied with our dinner with the gyro and baba ghannouj being the highlights. Lamb kebab & lamb kofta tasted good but I don't think the whole platter is worth $18+. We might alternate BGM Bistro & this as each has their own pros & cons. Or we might explore another we haven't tried before.
