Love Gemjunkie and All Sewn Up, but there are so many great vendors here. It's in the old Bed Bath and Beyond store in La Frontera. Go check them out!

Painted Tree is unique in that there are local artisans, craft makers, and vintage items you will find here at super affordable prices. Parking is never an issue when I come here to buy a unique piece for a friend or family gift. There are a lot of Austin-centric and often handcrafted pieces here. I have seen original artwork, candles, quilts, glassware, and a ton of stickers and even kids-related and appropriate finds. I recommend coming during the week but often times on the weekends the management will run specials and give a percentage off for shoppers. I would consider checking their social handles for events. I have seen several themed events that last from open to close such as summer events, mother's day, and even recently a Halloween (or holiday) themed promotion to get you inside and browsing. No need to remember vendors or take down names or booth numbers. All you have to do is grab what you like and when you check out the staff will scan and utilize their system to get you through your purchase. The staff have always been helpful and friendly.

The store has a great selection of weird and colorful creations that channel Austin's charm. Staff are friendly. I'm not sure if the gentleman who checked me out was the owner or a regular employee. Regardless, he did not have a friendly disposition when checking me out. (I am a woman of color for reference) he didn't even greet me which is a simple courtesy. I had to ask him "hey, how are you today" to which he didn't respond and just told me the balance I owed. My fellow friend (white male) checked out right after me and he greeted him! He also asked him how he wanted his items wrapped. (We both had the same items) If the store itself wasn't so nice and full of good merchandise/gifts I would've given it an even lower rating. To management: please know and remind your employees that even a simple hello goes a long way Edit: This seems to be a trend going years back (looking at reviews) with this business and their discriminatory practices. There are better local shops with less AI slop to patronize
