Bottle of the Chardonnay
Michael M.

Ok, we stopped in to have a glass of wine prior to calling it a day. It had been a long day and we had to say buy to our Daughter who had just moved to Vancouver, WA. We were sad to say good by and needed a good glass of wine! Our server Deborah was soon helpful. She had us try two different Chardonnay's and selected the Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Wow, it was the bomb. Thank you, Deborah for helping us through this hard time.

When: Mon Nov 18th, 6:30 am; Party of 2 Adults Ambiance: Visited here on a early Monday morning. This eatery was empty. The general feel here is modern Pacific Northwest feel with lots of wood & floor to ceiling windows with the views of the park. Lots of space to give you ample privacy for a conversation. Service: We we were seated promptly by our friendly hostess and greeted with a cheery smile by our server Sara. All in all my overall impression of the staff was very professional with a positive aura. Food: I ordered the Gray's Omelet, which is basically a build your own omelet. You have a choice of cheese and a choice of 3 items consisting of proteins or veggies. The omelet came with toast and tasty red roasted potatoes. The omelet was nice & fluffy and something I would recommend. My wife ordered the Bacon pancakes. Tip: the pancakes are 3 large pancakes almost the whole circumference of the plate. It definitely can feed 2-3 people. My wife said the pancakes were rather dry and needed a lot of syrup.

Enjoyed brunch at 10 am on a Sunday. I was surprised it wasn't so busy. The place is super clean, the staff is great and the food was amazing. Skip the lines and add this place to your Sunday brunch! It's well worth it!

Raw burger

I'm just going to get straight to the point on this review. I brought my husband and kids here for a family dinner in hopes of a treat and something new. I'm giving it an extra star for the server alone. Service was excellent, although food took forever and there were only 10 people in the restaurant including us. Ambiance is nice. The problems..the food was terrible and bland. My 14 year old didn't notice his burger was raw until I spotted it as the raw half stared at me from across the table. I'm appalled he didn't get sick. Not sure what happened to his burger when the others were cooked. The only delicious thing we had was the beet salad. The $33 steak meal was tiny as was the little dessert that came with it. The apple tart was the size of a small biscuit. The totchos had ketchup on them? It was so odd. Price was outrageous for what we got. Will not be coming back and I understand why it was empty now. They need a new chef asap.

Chocolate tart.

Nacho tots were absolutely delicious. Loved the ambiance of this place. Staff was very friendly and amazing service. The chocolate tart was recommended by the server and was worth every bite. Will be back for sure.

Unfortunately, Gray's goes on to my very short list of; "one and done." Staff was kind and friendly - the ambiance was lovely. Service while personable was inconsistent and slow. Food: Pastries seemed as if they were (at least) a day old. Our meals - aside from arriving less than warm, simply weren't palatable. I ordered the meatless omelette - I had two bites and requested hot sauce. Tried another bite with hot sauce - no improvement. Truthfully, this dish had an *unpleasant taste. Mr. Wonderful ordered the "Chef's Twisted Bennies." He rated his meal a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5. He indicated that it was as described on the menu, but not what he was expecting. It tasted off. We had reservations and looked forward to dining here. Sadly, Grays was a disappointment.

Salmon lox spread

The location of this restaurant in the Hilton on Esther Short Park is prime! 5 for location! Staff was friendly and prompt. 4 for staff. My daughter got a reservation for Mother's Day and even on probably the most popular breakfast/brunch day of the year, service and food was fast. 5 for the holiday bonus! The menu had good variety, depending on your preferences. I'm a sucker for salmon lox spread, so I ordered that and my daughter ordered the eggs Bennie and subbed bacon for ham. She said the bacon was epic. The potatoes were meh. The salmon lox spread had the nice touch of chopped dill, which made the flavor all the better, and there was a VERY generous amount of salmon on the plate, such that even with eating the whole bagel, I still had half left. The bagel was disappointing. It tasted like a grocery store bagel. I would have liked a higher quality bagel. I would give 5 for the generous spread but the bagel brought it down to a 4.

Wedge with steak

Service, food and drinks were great. The wedge salad is a must. Sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and helpful. Great for a drink, dinner or late night snack.

Awesome restaurant. The six of us had a good time and everyone loved the food. The prices were reasonable. Our server Sherman was great.

The place is fairly nice and the service was good. But you just didn't get much options and honestly it's quite over priced.

Good ambiance, service and cleanliness but food needs improvement. Food quality is mediocre and taste is less appetizing.

The bread was toasted and buttery, and the corned beef was steaming hot and delicious. The Caesar salad was also very good. I did not leave hungry; the portion size was large. It was a very filling meal. The service was top-notch. It was a Saturday at 11 AM. It was not packed but decently crowded, and all of the servers seemed to be on their game. The ambiance reminds me of an old-school deli. It was very clean, and there was ample seating. My friend lives in Vancouver, so I will definitely be back to try more of the food offerings when I'm in the area visiting.

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile now, but it always looks so busy on the weekends,…read moreso we waited until we had a day off during the week. We arrived around 11:30 on a Wednesday. It was still pretty busy, and only two booths were open. We were first on the wait list. We only waited about 5 minutes for the host to clear the tables and set them. Staff was friendly and welcoming. You can tell it's a popular place by how busy it was on a weekday. This restaurant occupies an older building in downtown Vancouver. There is street parking available. It's a small establishment, but they do a great job of utilizing every inch. They even have a nice waiting area by the door with two long wooden benches. There are both table and chair seating, as well as a few booths. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. We ordered the croissant club sandwich with fries and the triple play with half a reuben sandwich, Celtic Caesar salad and a cup of Irish stew. My hubby also asked for a side of bacon. The food came out rather quickly considering how busy they were. Everything we ordered we devoured. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. I added avocado to my club sandwich and it was so yummy! Prices are more than reasonable compared to other establishments. You get a generous portion as well. Overall we were happy with the service, food and prices. We'll definitely return to try their breakfast options. Everything looked so appealing as it came out of the kitchen. Would highly recommend!

Vincent took great care of us. There were two of us and we couldn't decide between sweet or savory so we opted to share two dishes. We got the veggie hash, with chicken sausage, added, and scrambled eggs, which also came with green salad and a mini croissant. Additionally, we ordered one sourdough pancake. Everything was incredibly delicious. I loved that they offered locally made salsa/hot sauce (from Battle Ground) and had three different types. I went for the hatch chili salsa, which went magnificently on the scrambled eggs. They offered habanero and serrano varieties as well. Great coffee and delectable lattes. We did not get any sweets from the bakery side this time, but we'll have to come back another time for them. They looked glorious. Lovely, comfortable and clean.

Sad that they deep-fry the potatoes even for a short amount which takes away from what could be amazing flavor of the bit of rosemary. Croissant was small and flaky not so much buttery. As a person who has traveled Europe many times just wish the cute ambiance translated to the table and service.

Everything you want in a locally loved diner with friendly staff and great food…read more Joe Brown's has a fascinating history, starting as a soup kitchen during the great depression, and is the oldest restaurant in Vancouver to date. The food was spot on, not greasy - just clean and solid flavors. Breakfast meats were great (the polish sausage!). No pretense, just good food, and good people. We were in town for 2 days and even though there were other options, we came here both days for breakfast and weren't disappointed. For as small of a dinner that it is, they usually don't have much of a wait, especially if you're willing to sit at the bar. The staff is extremely friendly, quick to provide coffee and take orders. They are never lacking for a smile. Really wish the food was as good as the rest of the experience. We've been multiple times and it is just mediocre at best. I'm a junkie for a good breakfast. Ham, eggs, and good hash browns will slap my butt and put a smile on my face... however, tasteless food just doesn't really make the cut. We've tried everything from sausage, ham, and bacon to biscuits and gravy, and even their lunch foods. Every time our response is the same, "meh". A little seasoning goes a long way. Darn shame because their portions are huge. If the food was solid, we'd be tearing down the door every day. Prices are fair. Staff is lovely. Vibe is awesome. If their food game would improve, we'd be regulars.
