Fresh fruit to start the day
Terrance S.

Always good service and good food. The staff is excellent. Very attentive and inviting. I always feel welcome here. From the whole grain pancakes, to the chicken sausage, to oatmeal, to fresh fruit, Dulin's is a staple in downtown Vancouver. It's like visiting a cozy neighborhood eatery where all the patrons are regulars. You don't want to miss it.,

Brunch dreams do come true! We rolled up for brunch and were met with a 45-minute wait (it was Labor Day to be Fair)--but with all the glowing reviews, we figured it had to be worth it. Spoiler alert: IT TOTALLY WAS. To kill time, we wandered over to the vintage mall across the street (10/10 recommend for distraction shopping and questionable fashion decisions). By the time we were done laughing at '80s vinyls and questionable biker jackets, our table was ready. Perfect timing! Now let's talk food. Holy portions, Batman. We ordered the El Paso and the Dublin, plus a side stack of pancakes--because brunch isn't brunch without a pancake cameo, right? Safe to say, it was more than enough for two people (but we have no regrets, only delicious memories). Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and those pancakes were straight-up cloud magic. I could honestly come back just for a short stack and call it a day. The mimosas were bubbly joy in a glass, the service was decent, and overall, it was a solid brunch win. I'd 100% come back--and next time, I'm making a reservation like a pro

What a cute little find! I have been looking for a great place for huevos rancheros and found them here. Great staff. Great service!

Dulin's potato dish, a split portion. An ample amount to share.

Three different staff members warmly greeted us and offered help while our table was being prepared--a great first impression. The space is bright and inviting, with natural light, plants, and large photos of village countrysides that perfectly reflect the café's name and theme. The menu blends Irish and American classics. We shared the Dulin's potato dish--corned beef, sautéed onions and bell peppers, cheese, horseradish, egg, and avocado. The French toast was another standout. We are looking forward to coming back to try the lunch menu!

$5.95 fruit cup after getting it out of the cup that had everything wedged into it.

Usually five out of five stars when I've dined at Dulin's the previous three times. I ordered the fruit cup previously before so I'm aware of its size and presentation. I don't know if they tried to dress it up to justified the $5.95 price which is more than fair in my opinion, but the way the fruit was shoved into the bowl was ridiculous. Half the mangis fell out when I tilted the small bowl to look at it. Then when I went to pull on of the 1/16" of an inch apple slices out, two more fell on the table. I'm not a germ-a-phob, but I should be able to pull my food out of the bowl without it falling onto a (hopefully clean) table. The worst part and I should have gave them one star for this, I immediately went to the counter and pair the manager? that delivered and when he asked if something was wrong, he rang me up. Fortunately I grabbed the bowl and was able to get a to go box for my "cup" of fruit. Here's a thought, give me a discount.‍ Big miss on customer service/satisfaction. Guess I'll wait a while before visiting again.

This is the second time we've enjoyed a yummy breakfast while in Vancouver! The service is great, everyone is warm and smiling. I enjoyed the veggie Benedict with avocado, spinach and tomato with a side of crispy potatoes. I especially love the local Silagy brand hot sauces; I stopped by the local market to pick up a few bottles ! :-) Tip- this is a busy spot, if you have to wait be sure to visit the antique shop across the street, lots of interesting finds.

Yummy food and very reasonable prices! Was seated quickly and staff was friendly. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was so good! Not greasy, just the right amount of sauce and the meat was cut nice and thin. Very yummy! Would definitely come back again and try other items.

Huevos Rancheros...art on a plate.

Charming....charming is the word I would use to describe Dulin's Village Cafe in downtown Vancouver, like a warm hug on a rainy day. The first clue, that I had chosen wisely, was seeing people gather at the door, waiting for the restaurant to open. I ordered the short stack (2 pancakes) and a side of bacon which suited my sweet/salty cravings. The whole-grain pancakes were hot off the griddle, served with real butter, and syrup. They were tasty, but I am more of a buttermilk pancake gal. (if you want "real maple" syrup it costs extra....which, considering the jump in pricing at most restaurants, is a little annoying. But this is a minor quibble.) The two strips of thick bacon were perfectly grilled and had a nice, light, smokey flavor. Hub had the Huevos Rancheros...a layer of seasoned black beans, grilled tortilla, eggs (cooked any way you like), and topped with cheese and generous slices of avocado. It came with fresh salsa, a dollop of sour cream, and breakfast potatoes (which were delicious....and tasted freshly made, not frozen) We both had a rich cup of coffee served in a chunky mug. The service was friendly, attentive, and professional. The total for breakfast, for two, was about $33. It is getting harder to find non-chain restaurants that serve a traditional breakfast. So glad Dulin's is here. It is on my list whenever I am in downtown Vancouver.

Halibut Fish and Chips

I went to Dulin's for lunch yesterday. It was encouraging to see a line at 11:30 AM. That signaled to me that the food is worth waiting for, even on a busy weekday. I was right! I ordered the fish and chips. I really love fish and chips made with halibut and battered, not crumbed. These hit the spot! The server told us that it is hand dipped, not just pulled from a bag. It was deeply browned from frying, which made it extra tasty. There were 2 generous pieces along with fries. The fries were fine, I prefer them more crispy than these were, but that's just me. The only disappointment was no slaw. I missed the crunch and tang slaw adds to F and C. The price was also reasonable. Our server was very attentive and lovely. She was helpful and friendly and made our lunch more enjoyable. Dulin's has a nice, friendly vibe and is an asset to the neighborhood. I just wish they stayed open past 2!

Dulin's is a nice spot to grab a tasty sandwich or upscale lunch item. The environment is clean and not really busy. This doesn't mean it doesn't serve good food. Check out Dulin's the next time you're n the area.

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries, as did every other member of my group! It was exceptional. I think they have something magical that they put on top of that fried chicken just sort of sweet and delicious. We also ordered the little donuts and they were fried delicious nuggets of yumminess. I definitely want to go back.

DAIRY ALLERGY MISHANDLED -- WAITER LIED ABOUT CHECKING WITH THE KITCHEN…read more My girlfriend has a serious dairy allergy. Before she arrived, I spent time with our waiter going through the menu carefully -- no butter, no dairy, confirmed twice. He even went back to check with the kitchen and returned saying her meal was completely dairy free. It wasn't. Someone else at the table tasted the green beans and suspected butter. When I asked again, the waiter confirmed they'd been cooked in oil and butter -- after already telling us they were safe. By then the pork chop had been sitting on top of them and was contaminated. His response? "I can bring you another side." No offer to replace the meal. No offer to remove it from the check. Nothing. We had a show to catch at the Magenta Theater and no time to push it, so my girlfriend skipped dinner and grabbed something at Burgerville afterward -- she had a headache by the end of the show. The food and everything else about the evening was genuinely good. But between the false assurance, the contaminated meal, and the complete absence of any effort to make it right, I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone managing a food allergy -- and I'll be thinking hard before coming back myself.

It was relatively quiet for a Thursday at noon, but the area is undergoing major street improvements which is likely to affect crowds. It was open seating and we had plenty of choices to choose from. Service was prompt and guardedly friendly. I ordered the nachos because, when faced with a choice that includes nachos, I always choose nachos. They were on the cold side. As I got deeper into the nachos, I encountered a grey, slimy mush which I scraped off and ate around. We didn't have the menus any longer and I couldn't recall if it had beans or meat. I didn't mention it to our server because I wasn't able to look at the menu until I got home. I realize now that was supposed to be the guacamole. I'm all for reducing food waste and I know avocados are expensive, but this was not the nacho dish I thought I was paying for and not something I would want to eat again. We split our bill in half and noticed that there was an additional credit card surcharge on each of our slips. It was not called out to us when the we paid and neither of us could recall seeing that charge specified on the menu, but we didn't look that closely. Considering the other positive reviews, it's possible we hit an off day, but given our experience it's not likely I will return.

I have 2 friends that have been reluctant on this place from previous "not good" experiences, and they came with me and it made me sad!! Anyway, our server was so blah (Katelyn H), our water glasses had lipstick marks, I asked her for new ones, she seemed to have forgotten or something so I asked the bartender (which is so sweet!) then our server heard me and grabbed glasses and handed them to me. She didn't check if they were clean, and they weren't, friends were too thirsty to wait and wiped off the lip marks with their napkin. She didn't even bother to ask if the glasses were clean, and also never asked us if we needed anymore drinks (we ordered cocktails). When food arrived, I had to walk up to her to ask for small plates, as she just walked away after delivery. The calzones were burnt on the bottom, and the marinara was 100000% canned tomato paste and was cold. Work on that marinara. Ambiance was as it always is, super chill and welcoming. She was the only server but she could have led with that and made it a comfortable setting. (Towards the end I saw the bartender delivering plates and drinks).
