Hickory Restaurant and Bar - yummy caper chicken and goat cheese pizza! - American Near Me - Camas, Washington

Had some dinner after a round of golf. We got the shrimp appetizer, bbq chicken pizza and fish and chips. The food was hot and delicious. Our waitress was nice but she seemed to give other table more attention than our table. Oh well. The pizza was delicious. I should have ordered the smaller pizza. My buddy liked his fish and chips. Everything was fresh and hot. The Cole slaw fro the fish and chips was pretty good too. It's a lot of fun to sit on the patio and watch the players come into shoot at the 18th hole. read more

We went for happy hour and sat out on the patio. Service was great. The happy hour food and drinks were great too. I ordered fish and chips off of the regular menu and was a bit disappointed. The fish had a strange texture like maybe it was under cooked. Overall a good experience. Will be back. read more

We've been coming here ever since moving and the chefs move through like anywhere.. they have one now who needs to stay! I had the best dinner experience ever there on Wednesday evening ( weather was kinda crummy so no outside dining that I love.. the clams and shrimp pasta was so flavorful and the way the chef hid little bits of tasty treats made me wondering if it could get any better!! Do yourself a favor and order this dish read more

I came here today for a very early lunch. 11:30 AM. I was with an elderly friend who is recently widowed. We were seated at a nice window table with a wonderful view of the golf course. Lovely. We could see a fountain. There was also a fireplace near us, which was a nice touch. Service was OK. A little bit slow, and in my opinion, the server was not well trained in basic table service. I would expect a bit better in such a nice location with a lovely restaurant. We both had coffee with plenty of cream. We asked what the soup was, the server didn't know if they had soup. A few minutes later, she returned to say they only had clam chowder. Which is exactly what my friend had had there before and wanted. After a long wait, a very nice bowl of clam chowder was served. It was a healthy portion and came with some oyster crackers. Very tasty. I ordered the roasted beef salad. The beats were on top of a bed of totally overdressed spinach for my taste. The beats were nicely roasted, and there were plenty of them. Candied pecans as well. Not a lot of feta. Pickled onions on top. It was OK only I would not order that again. My friend got the Caesar salad, which was very nice. The croutons were light and crunchy. We also had some bread that came with olive oil and vinegar. This item was fine, not great. The clam chowder was $10 for a bowl and it was the best thing that I had. We had to ask for a refill on our coffee, and also to clear some plates away that were finished. We did stay for a very long time. My friend felt relaxed there and was talking to me quite a bit. I do appreciate that we were not rushed out, however, it was not busy. We were never offered dessert. Perhaps we would've enjoyed that. I see myself returning, if my friend would like to. read more

Going out to brunch with the family is always special as my parents are really getting up there in age and my sister lives all the way down in Salem. My parents had been here before for happy hour and really enjoyed sitting out on the deck, overlooking the beautiful golf course. So of course, we had a perfect table with a lovely view on a relaxing Saturday afternoon. We got there at 1:30 PM and lunch service starts at 2:00 PM. Our server Rory, was very professional and attentive. He seemed to sense whenever we needed anything. I had a particular request, I ordered the prawn shrimp Louie salad, and my request was that the kitchen take the tails off of the prawns for me. I just really hate having to do that myself at a restaurant and getting my fingers all messy. Plus I was wearing white. So you see, diva treatment was necessary. Everyone at the table except my mom ordered salads and got their food first. Ta da! Rory and the kitchen totally came through for me. No tails on my prawns. The salad was beautifully presented. I don't know why my dumb Yelp brain didn't take a picture of it but at least I got a picture of it before I gobbled it down. I will say this, the service at the Hickory, the ambience overlooking the beautiful golf course and I confided in Rory that the prawn shrimp Louie was the best salad I've ever had. Seriously, the best. I hope the weather is nice towards the end of September so we can take my dad there for his birthday. Fore! now I'll just daydream about that awesome salad. Thank you Rory and staff! 2024 - Review #13 read more

We tried to have lunch for 5 around 1:30 on Monday (27th). Wanted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. We're also in town from Arizona celebrating Mom's 89th bday. All we got was no we can't move tables together, no we can't add an additional chair because of Fire Marshall. Sat us down inside, and service was non existent. Needless to say, we decided to leave and patron a restaurant that wants our money. read more

Have had brunch here many times and last Sunday , Mother's day was great. Food, service and ambiance all rate 5 stars

As always, the Hickory Restaurant did a really good job with the food and the customer service.

Great menu, excellent service, nice view. It's even pretty quiet, so as to allow non-shouting conversations for us old folks. I had given a scathing review a few years back, where the food and service were distinctly sub-par, but it's a whole different place now. Recommended. read more

Lovely and cozy! Food and drinks on point and staff that are so friendly and provide excellent service. There needs to be more restaurants like this one! Also, exceptional cocktails that you don't have to wait long for a handcrafted drink. Servers made sure we were taken care of and weren't annoyed by us not being ready to place our order. A great place to unwind and take some stress off your shoulders in a classy but unpretentious way! read more

Local favorite - always a great view from the heated and screened in back deck overlooking the 18th hole. Beautiful place on a golf course. Food was good. Going back in the summer to sit outside

Delicious with a beautiful location and very attentive staff, very diverse menu, didn't feel like standard golf course cuisine. Definitely go back just for dining, golf was a bonus. read more

We came here for our anniversary and ate off the happy hour menu and dinner menu. The chicken wings were my favorite and the bolognese was good but not great. The venue is pleasant and the service is good. The outdoor seating overlooking the golf course is great. The downside is that it is very pricey even on the happy hour menu. Even factoring in the Bidenomic inflation. read more

They have changed the menu and not necessarily for the good. We wanted to go for a burger and they have had the hickory burger on the menu forever! No more. Now if you want a burger you have to order their smash burger with 2 patties and pay a whopping price of $25. Feel like they are gouging. They no long have their club sandwich. The lasagna came out just warm. Didn't send it back. Feel we won't be back either. Being priced out. Good luck. read more

Unfortunately we came on a night there was a wedding and asked to sit on the patio. This was ruined shortly by the wedding down below singing horrible karaoke for a hour straight. It was also got very windy so watch the weather before you request outside. Charcuterie board was tasty and good for 2-3 people, I ordered the GF Bolognese it was not very tasty. Actually pretty bland. I thought bolognese was a red meat sauce it was not red was just ground beef in an oily sauce... husband ordered short ribs he described them as "alright". Food was good overall I think we just ordered the wrong things for our tastes! read more

We went for brunch and their menu was perfect, it had a little of something for everybody. A mix of lunch and breakfast items. I love my Spanish Coffees, and if they come with a cinnamon sugar rim, you know I believe they deserve five stars! I also enjoyed the Crab Cake Benedict. Our server was fantastic, patient, accommodating and attentive. Not an easy feat when dealing with eight people including a nine year old and a baby! There was a lot of room and a beautiful view of the golf course. My husband and I plan on returning when the weather is warmer to enjoy their wrap around deck seating. read more

This restaurant sounded promising based on the photos and reviews but it fell a little flat. We ordered the sliders, swordfish, halibut fish and chips, and chicken lettuce wraps. The food wasn't bad but both fish and the beef were dry and over-cooked. Maybe the chef was having an off day I'm not sure, but for the price I was expecting a lot more. read more

I made a reservation for four many weeks ago requesting a booth. We arrived a few minutes early. There were several booths available. Our party included 4 adults, not small children. We were seated at a very small table suitable for 2 adults (my daughter, who is a waitress, and my partner, is a former waiter, both commented that it was a 2 top at most). Our waitress serving us spontaneously commented that there was not room at the table for all the dishes and drinks. We asked to be moved. We were told that 'all the tables were reserved'. What about our reservation?? We watched as larger tables and booths sat empty for some time, some even throughout our entire meal, while we were squeezed at the 2 top for the entire meal. Additionally, although our server was friendly, the person who actually brought us our food seemed very put out when we nicely requested condiments - she had not asked if we needed anything when serving the food, so we needed to request it. Overall, this was definitely not a good first impression at all. We will not be returning. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Best creme brûlée I've had in years! We love this gem of a restaurant. Gorgeous view of the golf course and delicious food.

Located at a golf course/country club, Hickory is serving up high end comfort food. I was there during happy hour and they had a limited menu - none of the delicious steaks I saw in other reviews. Luckily I'm easy to please. Went with the Cajun skrimps and brussel sprouts off the happy hour & abbreviated menu respectively. The shrimp were seasoned well and served with some crusty sourdough slices - both delicious. The brussel sprouts...best I've ever had - the sauce, the bacon, peanuts and apple pieces...WOW!!! And they come out piled on a plate that could have fed a family of 8 - but I couldn't stop eating them, they were that good. Big bar selection and some craft beers on draft. Great place for some small plates, I'd love to try a steak next time??? read more

Food was ok, service was terrible. Took an inordinate amount of time for our waitress to even acknowledge we were there after being seated, get some water, have our order taken, get our food, etc. This was our second time having lunch at Hickory but we won't be going back. There are plenty better options, no need to put up with poor service. read more

The restaurant has had a complete makeover including the menu. The food is not what you'd expect from a typical golf course, instead it's like a high end resort. Menu is seasonal with unique selections and for the traditional, the chicken wings are out of bounds! My wife is a vegetarian and craves the beet burger with the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Came here for the first time today for Sunday brunch, it was so good! Our server was great too. I got the Croque Monsieur breakfast which came with sweet potato fries, and my husband got the apple spice pancakes. Both were absolutely delicious! Seriously, I will be dreaming of the melty cheesy goodness of my croque Monsieur until I have one again. It was a perfect balance of sweet and salty with the combo of Gruyère, caramelized onions and a berry compote/jam on the side. My fries were light and crispy, but soft and pillowy on the inside, seasoned with salt just right. It was the best meal I've had out in a long time. It wasn't busy at all for a Sunday morning, which is great for me but surprising due to the tastiness of the food. Can't wait to go back! read more

YUM!! This feels like a high class little bar next to the golf course. Perfect for a quick bite after your round or a nice date night. my husband and I went to Hickory for date night. We made a reservation and we're seated promptly when we arrived. The dinning room was a bit too noisy because of a loud large party, so we opted to sit at the bar, where everything was very clean, tidy and had a great ambiance. Heather gave us some excellent service. She made me a delicious vodka martini and my husband had a raspberry limoncello spritz that was also divine. The braised short ribs were to die for and the staff was very accommodating of my desire to eat as low carb as possible. They allowed me to substitute broccolini Romesco for the risotto and carrots that were supppsed to come with it. My husband got the fish and chips and really enjoyed them. Heather even mixed me up some horse radish cream herself after the kitchen ran out. She was very friendly, welcoming and fun to talk to. We will definitely be back and will definitely ask to sit at the bar with Heather again. read more

It was ok, nothing extra ordinary. Although the shrimp fettuccine was a little soupy and bland. The front desk wiped the table wet, and never dried it out despite of asking her to wipe it dry and forgot to give us menu. The server was good and took care of that. Its way too pricey for a not so good food. I will think twice before I go back here. The ambiance is good but thats about it. read more

The service was exceptional. The food was pretty good too. I do have some tips... The steak "salad" is a wedge salad, great flavor in the blue cheese crumbles and Parmesan. The steak was cooked perfectly. The wings were HOT and lacked some flavor. If you like HOT get them. The pulled pork sandwich was average but a great price on the happy hour menu. Generous pouring of my whiskey so that pushed them up to a 5 star from me Hahaha. Beautiful outside seating with a killer view of the scenic golf course. Would return read more

Ate here yesterday for Father's Day brunch. I had the Classic Eggs Benedict and my husband had the burger. Both of us thought our food was just ok. A beautiful setting overlooking the 18th green on a warm Wednesday evening. I was hungry and reluctantly ordered the ribs thinking it would be the typical small portion and mostly bone. Boy was I wrong. I could only finish half and the meat was "fall off the bone" tender and hearty. Great BBQ flavor. Great fries, corn bread, and slaw. The service was great, friendly, and prompt.
