    Caesar salad

Elegant and quaint, located on an old golf course. Service took a minute but once we were helped things came at a timely manner. Our server was friendly as well. I got a Bloody Mary, it was definitely one of the better ones I've had at a restaurant. I had gotten the soup and salad combo, the salad was decent (Caesar) and the soup tasted homemade which I appreciated (cheddar broccoli). My husband got the brisket sandwich, said it was good and the meat was flavorful. I'm definitely open to going back and trying different menu items!

We came for the live music in March on a Saturday, and absolutely loved it! I felt like I was transported instantly to a vacation somewhere relaxing. The food options were exquisite, and quite good value. I ordered an appetizer for my entree, baked Artichoke hearts, and loved them! My husband ordered the club sandwich. They have homemade chips and spice. The fireplace was romantic, (real wood) even though it is a public house so there were (well behaved) kids in the room. They have games for kids to play at the tables. This opened in 2024, so decor is brand new. It's on a golf course. I'll try to post a video.

Stopped in to explore this new find. The owners stopped over and they're amazing. Excited to see what they continue to do to make this a unique destination. Cedars is an old golf course country club building. It does feel a bit institutional when you first walk in. The dining area is more cozy. There's a full bar with 16 taps the main dining area overlooks a large patio and yard with twinkle lights. Expect white linens and tasty food. The Mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent and the shrimp was cooked well. Would like to return and explore more of the bar menu. I tried the grilled cheese and it was very cheesy. The tomato bisque was a really thick soup. We also ordered the cake sampler. It was ok but none of the desserts really spoke to me.

    Beautiful and cozy fireplace

This is a fantastic little place to go tucked away and Brush Prairie, but it is definitely worth checking out. The revitalization at this adorable restaurant is only going to get better and better, as they add in new elements. It sounds like they're going to put in a spa and coffee bar so that you can grab a coffee and go on your walk right outside on the walking paths. As for the restaurant, we can't say enough about the wonderful food, reasonable prices, quality, and the genuine staff. We were fortunate enough to be taken care of by Adam and he is THE BEST!! So kind, attentive, personable, and a fantastic example of what a leader in a space should be. He took care of everybody in the restaurant and made everybody's drinks without batting and I or seeming rushed or stressed. He was calm as a cucumber and made time to talk with everybody and was all around just wonderful! They have many holiday events right now and it is a fantastic event space. It's too cold outside right now for eating on the adorable back deck, but I can't wait to do so when it warms up a bit. They have trivia nights, fun events and live music! We are so glad that we found this gem!

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.

We were promised Cacio e Pepe (my FAVE!), but that was no Cacio e Pepe. It was good. It was a perfectly fine alfredo sauce, but it wasn't what I was excited to have for dinner that night. I would have easily overlooked this, though, if we'd had a server who was hard to track down and the dinner didn't take 45 minutes to come out to us (and honestly, she didn't know what the free dinner offering was for the night). We did order an appetizer (the artichoke dip - and it was super yummy), so I get that our dinner was being timed to come out after that, but I think we waited quite a bit longer than 20 minutes *after* we were done with our appetizer to get our dinners. And we were the second table to arrive for dinner service, so it's not like we caught them during the dinner rush. It was kind of a bummer. This was my second time there. I recall not particularly loving my first experience when it was still the Rusty Grape. I might give it a third (and final) try, but I'm on the fence. We'll see.

I explained that it was a mistake and we wanted to old-fashioned. He argued that that's what those were. Clearly they weren't. They are very different drinks. It became an argument, but he took a sniff of one and realized the glass was full of olive juice. He apologized and said he would remake our drinks. He did. They were OK. They were not in an old-fashioned glass and didn't have the big ice cube, but it was OK because it's a dive bar and I didn't expect that. However, I asked to close my tab and charged me $36 for the two drinks. I thought for sure that was a mistake. He said it wasn't. I argued that these drinks should not be $18 each and he said they were. I was really mad about that. It's a dive bar and dive bars don't charge more than a fine dining establishment in Vancouver or Portland. Plus I had to pay a service fee. So I didn't leave him a tip. But I'm still mad about it. Those drinks shouldn't have been more than $10 or $12. At most. That's what you pay at a nice restaurant for one of those. I'm positive if he charged me for all four drinks. My brother and girlfriend had 5 drinks and were also charged $36. Weird. One was a tequila soda and he served them Tito's and soda. I realize it was very busy and he was the only one working and could've been having a really bad night. But I don't think I should be punished and double charged. Needless to say, I definitely won't be back to this, especially if they really do charge $18 for a white trash version of an old-fashioned drink.

The area has developed quickly and having grown up nearby and moved away years ago, it's amazing to see what's happened along here. Prices - well, everyone has their hand out along here. We were in town somewhat last minute staying at Hotel Indigo. The hotel provides $10 drink coupons so we decided to drop in for an impromptu drink while planning our dinner strategy. It was already 7p so no view but live music and a nice buzzy ambiance. Wait staff were fast and friendly, and before we knew it two delicious cocktails were in front of us. At the same time, I overheard the waitress at the table beside us saying that food could be ordered from El Gaucho downstairs. So we asked for a menu and started perusing. If you don't know El Gaucho it's a classic steak restaurant with lots of cuts and sizes, a sprinkling of seafood, the usual salads, and tableside this and that. A notch above Ruth's Chris, Morton's or The Capital Grille but with Peter Luger Manhattan prices. Yes, that's right, Manhattan prices in Vancouver. WA. The Couv is all grown up. Or at least trying to be, Like Witness Tree, El Gaucho has a mandatory 20% gratuity regardless of party size. Theoretically this shouldn't be an issue if you know restaurant culture and tip appropriately but I think a mandatory fee rubs many wrong to assume service will always be at that level. And on top of very high prices. A $72 6oz filet is $86, so those 8 bites better be damn good. That said, we ordered oysters, a filet, seafood pasta, and wine. The wine list was decent but not as extensive for a premium steak restaurant. Wines had the typical markup which meant $20-35+ per glass. Both the pasta and steak were good but - and this may sound picky - at $72 for 6 ounces of steak (a bar of soap) I expect perfection which means medium rare throughout. The steak was medium in some parts. If I can achieve medium rare throughout at home it should be possible here. So here's the math (rounded) for those interested. Total bill: $295. $225 food and drinks, $45 service fee (mandatory 20%), and $24 tax (8.8%). Interestingly, the 20% service charge is taxed which means we actually paid $49 or 28.8%. Had I been given the choice of my own 20% tip it would be applied to food and drink and a slightly lower bill. Not a huge deal but these are the little details - call it "nickel and diming" patrons - that rub many wrong. One note - another server came to our table before our food arrived and placed a steak in front of me. Before he could place the other dish I told him it wasn't our order. He picked up the steak and delivered to another table. In most restaurants - and certainly in a premium setting - that dish should have been remade. Whether perception or simple hygiene you simply can't do that. All in all, the Witness Tree was a nice spot, with tasty cocktails and ambiance. Prices and service fee will be off putting for some, and not sure this would be my go-to as there are many rooftop / view options nearby.
