Tuesday night is half price bottle night, which was a happy coincidence, as we happened in on a Tuesday. The biggest draw for me was the favorable reviews about gluten free options. Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

Had a wonderful dinner with my son celebrating his new job! We ordered the grilled peach bruschetta, the steak tops, and lasagna. Shared and had plenty to bring home. Service was excellent. Say outside for a lovely early evening meal. The food was absolutely delicious! Really hit the spot! I definitely would go again my son ordered the Arnold Palmer and mentioned several times how awesome he thought it was and he's very picky. We ordered the strawberry lemon trifle for dessert and it was a perfect sauce to share and we both enjoyed it. Light and tasty at the same time.
Amazing hand crafted food paired with amazing cocktail/mocktails and wine. The menu offers a variety of Italian dishes, the pasta and breadsticks are my favorite though. You can snag something at the deli if you are short on time we arrived slightly before noon on a Friday and waited less than 10 minutes. Very cozy setting felt very homey. We will be back

It's been one strike with me and two with my other family members. -ordered the butter lettuce salad 1/2 $12 Tasteless, it looks pretty though. The spaghetti, Mariana and meat balls I loved and the kid as well. It was tasteless, tasted like water noodles. My kid did not eat it. Also, please don't add garnish to a kids dish. If it said sprinkled with parsley, come on! Some kids are picky. We tried the bolognese Bianca (only full order available for $24) Tasteless yet again. Noodles over cooked. I don't get the dish. Come on bitters, we loved coming here.

Wow every time we've been here we leave wanting to come back for a taster of all the other dishes! We have yet to find a menu item that we're dissatisfied with, such a blessing to have this gem right uptown.
What a gem! Been here twice now and each time left with a happy tummy. Started with the olive plate and table bread as appetizers, which both were great, then moved on to the Penne alla Vodka and beef ribs over mashed potatoes. I would give the penne pasta four out of five stars, but the beef ribs over mashed potatoes was the star of the show! Tender, delicious, full of flavor and immensely enjoyed. Finished off with the creme brulee and pistachio cookie. The creme brulee was perfectly done, the cookie was a little dry and crumbly but tasted fine. Really enjoyed the dinner. It's a casual feel to the dining room, since your basically eating in a deli, but everyone is friendly. I can see why there's usually a line to get in. Slay all day!!
It's not easy to find Italian food around here that's not a chain. Found this place off a recommendation in a fb group. A cute spot where you can eat inside or out. Everything on the menu just sounded so good. I went with the half vodka pasta & added sausage & my boyfriend got the smoked mushroom ravioli & added meatballs. Wow, just wow. Both dishes were so good. The ravioli had that umami flavor, just so delicious. The sausage was the perfect addition to the vodka pasta. Probably one of the best sausages I've ever had, still haven't stopped thinking about it. The half portion was perfect for lunch, but greedily it was so good I wished I got the bigger one. Service was great, can't wait to go back.
Delicious lunch! Service was excellent. Street parking. The serving of clams were generous and tasty. Usually, appetizers are scant. This was more like an entree. Loved the house dressing on the Caesar salad. I have seen other restaurants prepare it in front of me. Although they didn't, it did taste fresh. Which I appreciated. We ordered a half order of the ravioli. Wished we ordered a full plate. It was THAT good. I knew the lasagna was going to be a big portion, so we held back on ordering the larger portion of the lasagna. Our attempt to control our portions. The lasagna was good. My husband said I make better lasagna. But it's a lot of work. So I appreciated the lasagna more than he did. I love a lasagna with a lot of sauce. It held up well. Didn't fall apart. And the blend of spices, sauce, and cheese was lovely. The tiramisu was good. I've had better. If you like a tiramisu that's mild. Not too sweet. And you can't taste the liqueur. Than this is the tiramisu for you. The ambience was okay. Not romantic. Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our meal. In fact, I posted the pictures on my Facebook page, and my two daughters, and their mom-in-law (eldest daughter's) are going to dinner this week, at La Bottega. Of course I'm going! I am curious to see if the transition of ownership will be seamless to customers. The previous owners sold this restaurant. However, the employees and menu will be retained. Definitely try the appetizers, entrees, wine, and desserts at this restaurant. CHEERS!
La bottega is an amazing option for Italian food in downtown Vancouver. The atmosphere is casual and because it's also a market the walls are lined with wine. Even going on a Monday night, it was packed with people, however, we were able to snag a table for two without a reservation right away. The service was attentive and helpful. I got the full portion of the smoked mushroom ravioli and I absolutely loved it. I appreciated that the portion was quite large because too often ordering ravioli means you barely get any pasta. The sauce was decadent, savory, smokey, and had a hint of sweetness, which pulled everything together. read more
Well, goodness! After being away from Vancouver for nearly six years, I was thrilled to see this restaurant has survived. My sweet friend treated me to lunch and we both enjoyed it very much. We started with a wonderful appetizer, nicely toasted bed covered with mushrooms and garlic . Delicious. I then had a half corned beef and homemade chips. It was very good. And my friend had their famous Caesar salad with shrimp added. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. It was a busy lunch time, but we never felt neglected. Our server did a wonderful job. We choose a table outside in the sunshine, it was much quieter outside so that we could have a nice chat. The only negative is the interior is very loud. As fall creeps around the corner, I knew I wanted to eat somewhere that had a patio. I've walked by La Bottega many times but had not come back in 7 years. Boy had I been missing out. First of all, the ambience is great - a nice patio and an indoor space that also gets a lot of light. Service is great as well, attentive, fast, and friendly. Lastly, the food is good too. I highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta and the steak dish. I enjoyed the steelhead plate but kept wanting to steak bites of my husbands steak & creamy polenta. read more

Came here for lunch and the food definitely had great flavors. We each ordered a salad and the half portions of the olio pasta and one of the sandwiches. It is a half portion and they are small so I definitely recommend getting something else with it. The downside was that the wait for the food and the service itself was very slow. You saw several servers kind of standing around and nobody acknowledged us when we came in so it's lacking in that end for sure but the food itself was solid. read more

My boyfriend and I walked in, we were scowled at and completely ignored from the minute we walked in for a very uncomfortable 20 minutes. This was extremely dissapointing and borderline racist , not a smile, not a hi, not a be right with you, nothing and there were like 12 employees walking around all ignored us and looked miserable. We bought the frozen mushroom sauce (disgusting and bland with store mushrooms and some other black flavorless mushrooms that looked like they were swept off the floor). The "sauce" just tasted like water and reeked of vinegar (not even balsamic) and nothing else with rubbery mushrooms. Way overpriced $37 for about a cup and a half of food. I thought of ordering some meat in the cabinet and my boyfriend kept asking me about getting some meat but it looked moldy and black and really really old, so I said yeah, no... I ordered tirimisu which also tasted old and soggy and flavorless and it was extremely expensive for a tiny square of soggy bland mess. The peppers I ordered had rotting spots on them and also tasted like vinegar. My stomach is turning at how gross the food looked/was. Needless to say that's the last time I'll ever go to this place, I don't pay money for ridiculous tiny flavorless portions and to be treated like sh/t. It never ceases to amaze me the people who go into customer service jobs who are just mean and miserable and should go do something else. When I saw the processed "Safeway deli" brand boarshead in the meat cabinet I should have just turned and walked out. I'm not even Italian and I can cook better than them. This place gives "Italian" a very bad name, If you hate your customers upon entry why are you open/in business? Nothing in this review is an exageration. This place is sorry, do not waste your money, do not give nasty people business. read more

I've eaten here several times, and overall great Italian food with a menu that changes with the seasons, and a friendly staff. My complaint would be slow service, servers do not come check in, and it takes way too long to get the check. I would skip the desserts unfortunately, as they have been bland and or stale tasting. Would strongly suggest a visit if you are in the area, especially at lunch time when you can get a sandwich. read more

The food is incredible! Ordered some table bread which comes with olive oil and balsamic! The Alla Vodka is to die for, will be returning for more! Wine is pretty good as well, my personal favorite is the prosecco. I would recommend setting reservations so you're not having to wait long for seating since it's usually pretty packed! read more

This little Italian restaurant and market is bustling for good reason. I honestly don't understand why popular places like this don't just adopt a reservation system. We ended up waiting for 50 minutes for a table, but the wait was made a bit less painful since they wisely serve wine while you wait. (Brilliant!) Once seated ~ precisely 50 minutes after adding our names to the wait list ~ service was friendly but a little hit and miss timing-wise. The bread with oil and vinegar was pretty mediocre. She loved her mixed salad (especially the pickled carrots) but my Caesar was more cheese than salad. It was pretty ridiculous, and I LOVE cheese. The balance was just all wrong. The winner of the whole meal was hands down the bucatini carbonara with guanciale. Just incredible! She got the spaghetti with oil and garlic with added prawns but it was unfortunately way too spicy for her to eat. (I tried it and I like spice but it was even too spicy for my taste.) They made it right by just bringing some plain spaghet with oil and garlic (and more shrimp) but by the time it was served, we were pretty much done and ready for our check. Made for good leftovers, though. With all of this said, I would likely give this place another try. read more

This place was the cutest thing. Located on a street we would have liked to explore more. The restaurant was lively, but not too noisy so you could still have a conversation. It sold single cold beers and had an extensive wine store in the back, Including small bottles. It also had a deli section so you could make a great charcuterie board for your home entertainment. But we were traveling through and wanted to have a sit down dinner. The food was just awesome. We had a smoked mushroom ravioli that was so rich and delicious! We ordered a half portion which was equivalent to a full portion other places. The fish was cooked to perfection so that it was crisp on the outside and not dry inside. It was plated with roasted potatoes that were also perfectly cooked, crunchy outside and soft inside. The beans were still crunchy. The tomato based sauce was sort of like a fancy ketchup for the potatoes in a good way. Bread is not included, but is reasonably priced. The only weakness was the pacing. It was a little slow for us. Definitely want to go back when we are in the area. read more

One of my favorite Italian spots in Vancouver. Great ambiance. Large wine selection and Italian soda options. Service is good and the food is amazing. Slightly on the higher price range but you get what you pay for and I haven't been disappointed yet. read more
What a great meal! We were craving Italian and La Bottego was a perfect pick! We got a table inside (the patio would be a great option on the right day). Our server Kate did and awesome job of taking care of us. We started with an appetizer, the bruschetta was fantastic. The toppings all tasted clean and fresh. We did a couple of half orders for our main courses. The Aglio e Olio was amazing! The pasta was cooked perfectly and had the perfect balance of flavors. The garlic complimented, without overpowering. The pelle alla vodka was my favorite. I could eat that all day long! The half servings were still plenty big, but allowed us to try the desserts out. The cannoli was light and crispy. Sooooo good!!! We both agreed we will definitely be back to try more options out! Great food, great location, great service! read more

First time eating at La Bottega with some friends. We loved the vibe walking into the restaurant. We got there at 5pm which seemed perfect considering how crowded they got into our dinner. The waitresses and hosts were very polite and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed and took the time to answers our questions. When we weren't quite ready they patiently came back to check on us. We're ordered and our food came to our table surprisingly fast. The food was hot and had the eye appeal you're looking for when eating. We ordered the Wild Steelhead with Risotto, the SMOKED MUSHROOM RAVIOLI made up of Mushrooms, Leeks, Rosemary, Balsamic Cream Sauce and the Merguez which was made of Lamb, Ground Beef & Pork, Harissa, Tomato, Onion, Garlic, Farfalle Pasta, Pecorino. I can only review the Merguez which was amazing. The sauce was properly done, creamy and perfectly seasoned. The lamb, ground and pork was so tender. They all three went well together in the dish. Overall it was a tasty, fun and enjoyable time. We'll definitely be back sooner rather than later. read more
