    Burrata & Caesar salad
    Megan H.

My friend and I went here last night for a girls dinner. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We got the burrata and Caesar salad for starters. The salad could have easily been an entree. Both were presented lovely and were delicious. She got th margherita pizza. The sauce was delicious, the crust super crunchy but still soft. Probably one of the best I've had in awhile. I got the carbonara and it was so perfectly creamy. The bacon was thick little chunks of it. Pricing was decent for what you got. Our waitress had a ton of tables but was overall still quite attentive. I would definitely go back.

We had just finished working in Vancouver and decided that we wanted to eat on this side of the river- at a restaurant new to us. Hubby's YELP app told us that there was an Italian restaurant nearby - Nostra Tavola, so we chose to give it a try. And we were glad that we did. Despite being located in a strip mall, Nostra Tavola has a feeling of elegance once you step inside. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a modern feel. (I happened to be wearing a Roma jacket, what a perfect time for that). We were seated promptly. Our servers were friendly and helpful, especially Collin. I consider myself somewhat of an expert at cooking Bolognese, so I often order it when we are at an Italian restaurant. Their Rigatoni Bolognese was very good, but perhaps not as good as mine :). Hubby ordered the Fettuccine with added marinated shrimp. He said that it was delicious. We also shared an arugula- heavy "Italian Table salad". Lucky we love arugula. For dessert, we had a delicious cheesecake. Thank you, Collin & Maddie! We also ordered an additional dessert for takeout. All in all, it was an unexpectedly delightful meal.

Caesar salad, it was kinda big. I feel like they put too much parmesan or maybe it was just me.. Otherwise it was good.

First time here and it was good. The food was good. Not a big menu though. The service was great, not too big of a wait and the ambiance was good as well. The atmosphere in the room was quiet and not loud at all.

I've had this place on my 'list to try' for awhile now. We came in for lunch on a Saturday around noon. Note: Yelp says they open at 11:30, but they don't open until noon (per their website). I've asked Yelp to update. They are located in a busy strip mall. The face of the restaurant is super cool looking, but a bit misplaced for a strip mall, in my opinion. There's plenty of parking available. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our hostess was also our server. She was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The interior was really dark. They could use some candles and flowers on the table?! The interior seemed kind of industrial, not very cozy like most Italian places I've been to. After perusing the menu, we decided to try the risotto sausage balls (arancini), focaccia bread, Caesar salad and Margherita pizza. The food was good. Our favorite part was the risotto sausage balls. They were so flavorful! The price of $15 seemed a bit steep for two risotto balls. The focaccia bread wasn't what I was expecting either. It was super fluffy, like white bread, not dense, no pockets, no olive oil or herbs on top. Kind of odd, and expensive for three pieces at $7. The Caesar salad was good. We liked the dressing and tons of parmesan, but I did notice some pieces of romaine weren't fresh and browned. I'm not happy when I pay for a salad with brown lettuce. The Margherita pizza was good. We were astonished how they could get the crust so thin and cooked so well without burning it. It was nice and crispy and toppings tasted fresh, but kind of pricey at $19. Overall the service was good, food was okay, and the atmosphere lacking. We ended up paying $70 for lunch and we shared everything. Probably won't be returning, since there are other options in the area that we enjoy more.

We made a reservation just to be safe and our table was ready for us on arrival. The waitress was very nice, it was nice inside but a little plain appearance. The half booth style table had one of us sitting much taller than the other so that was a little odd but not terrible. We began ordering and food came quickly. We ordered the burrata and table salad. My friend had the penne with Italian sausage and I had the carbonara. Everything was good portion sizes! I got a zero proof cocktail and it was delicious! Overall a very good experience!

Everything was great!! Small menu to focus on only a few food dishes, attentive staff, chill ambiance! Made our Valentine's Day special.

I went here for lunch today and was disappointed. I've been here before and enjoyed the pizza I ordered then," but it was a few years ago. Today my sister and I split an order of eggplant Parmesan and Cacio e pepe. The eggplant was pretty good, if skimpy. 4 small rounds, cut relatively thick. 2 more rounds would have felt more generous. The sauce was good and it was smothered in plenty of cheese though. We thought they should have served it with spaghetti. It was the Cacio e pepe that really disappointed. It had barely any flavor. This is a dish that needs lots of cheese along with pepper and pasta water, but what we mostly got was the flavor of pasta water with a little cheese melted into it and no pepper at all. The server ground a dusting of pepper on it but that is NOT how this dish should get its pepper. We were both quite disappointed and for the price, we felt ripped off. There wasn't even any salt on the table to zing it up. I was here a few years ago and was pleased to return, but I doubt we will be back which makes me sad. This place has a good location and comfortable vibe, the service was fine. I really wanted to like it all.

Went back again today and food and service was just as good as the first time. Restaurant is clean and modern. We went at 3pm and it was pretty slow. We love going after lunch rush and before dinner rush. The waitress let us know they had a couple menu updates and that they were going to start swapping things for seasonal items which sounded fantastic to us! We got the Italian table salad, burrata, focaccia, arancini, and the bee sting pizza. If you're not getting a pizza when you come here, you are missing out!!! I will continue to shout from the mountaintop, best pizza in Vancouver!! Thin crust, the red sauce is on point, meat is excellent quality. The crust is thin but crispy & chewy in all the right places. The arancini was two crispy balls from heaven, filled with risotto and sausage, served on top of marinara that you will want to lick off the plate. Our little one got the kids pizza which is basically a size small/medium pepperoni pizza and it's $9! Can't beat it. We finished with tiramisu and cheesecake and both were delicious. Please continue to come and support this little local gem. The location is a little random but so worth it!

Made reservations through Open Table. Was seated quickly. Selected food from the Happy Hour menu. This restaurant is located in the space that Rally Pizza used to be located at. Near Planet Fitness, off of Mill Plain. Ambiance was nice. High ceilings. Lots of windows. Casual dining. We chose the garlic knots (rolls), Caesar salad, calamari, and Margherita pizza. The garlic knots were the BEST!! Buttery with lots of garlic. Light, fresh, and steaming hot. Freshly baked bread items are my kryptonite. I consumed them so fast I didn't even take the time to dip the garlic knots into the side of marinara sauce provided. The house-made salad dressing for the Caesar salad was good. I love anchovies. The salad is enough for two. Wish we had better cuts of romaine lettuce though. That would be my only complaint. Not enough to bring the review down from a 5-star rating. The calamari was excellent! The batter was crisp. Not as oily as other places I've had calamari at. The calamari tasted fresh. Not hard or gummy. The dipping sauce was good too. But the calamari was so good that I didn't use much of the sauce. The Margherita pizza was delicious. Love the air pockets in the dough, the sauce, melted cheese, and fresh basil leaves atop the pizza. We ordered so much food that we had enough to take home for lunch the next day. Could not resist ordering the tiramisu. LOVED it! Not too sweet. It was light and smooth. They way we like it. My husband and I ate all of it. We will most definitely be back. I'll order spaghetti, plus meatballs (which are extra). I told our kids about this place (they're in their 30s). I mentioned to them that the garlic knots were even better than the garlic rolls at Bravo's Italian Restaurant in Pearl City, Hawaii (Oahu), where we used to dine, when we lived there. THAT got their attention. They will most definitely dine at Nostra Tavola soon! I discovered this place after reading about it in the Facebook Group, "Dining in the Couve". Nostra Tavola was mentioned a few times, as a favorite Italian restaurant. I had to try it with such raving comments. So happy I did! Enjoy the pictures. :o)

My friends and I were hesitant about stopping in because of all the negative reviews we've seen online and on social media... We finally decided to give it a try and we were please let surprised that it wasn't as bad as the reviews we saw. We all ordered cocktails while we waited for our food, which took awhile. Our waitress was nice and friendly. For appetizers we had calamari and garlic knots. Both were good and off the happy hour menu. The happy hour menu was a little disappointing. Not a big menu and only a couple bucks off the regular price. For dinner, we each ordered a different entree, but all were pasta dishes. They were all good, but spendy for the small portions. The chicken on the eggplant dish was really dry and my friend was a little disappointed in that. Other than that, we had a good time chatting over dinner, but not in a rush to come back any time soon.

I was over in Vancouver and did a quick Yelp on pizza in the area. The pictures looked enticing and honestly - the pizza is nearly 5 stars, but oddly sliced! We had a reservation, but they had plenty of tables. Our server was attentive and food came out pretty quick. They were sold out of arancini - still trying to figure out winter quantities, I suppose. A bottle of Chianti, antipasto plate, Caesar salad, and a Bee Sting pizza were the perfect meal to stuff two! The antipasto plate had some delicious bread and options, great pairing with a salad. Our pizza crust was perfectly crispy, well seasoned, and damn delicious! I would order again for sure! It's overall a solid spot.

From the beginning- the experience was top notch. Service, taste of the food and ambiance - I've missed places like this.

This place was amazing, great food, excellent service and very clean. Our server Seth was awesome, very patient since it was our first time there with great recommendations as well! Got the Bee Sting pizza- very good, crispy, right amount of heat(spice) and paired great with the hot honey! The drinks were great as well- we got a Mona Lisa and a black rose; excellent drinks, not too strong, and not too sour! Easy to find and parking was good too! Only thing that we did not know was we did need a reservation- although someone did not show up for their reservation it allowed us to get a table, but the host stated that usually that does not happen and with out a reservation you typically won't get a table. Was very busy inside! Definitely will make a reservation and go back there again! Cute place!

Watered down flavors of who knows. The drinks at Wahi Hanna are amazing in comparison - especially with the Dole Whip vibe. The spam fries were $9 for half a can of spam cut up and put in the oven with a side of mayo? The loco moco was promising but tasted like something you'd get at Kenjis - not a Hawaiian spot. The area has developed quickly and having grown up nearby and moved away years ago, it's amazing to see what's happened along here. Prices - well, everyone has their hand out along here. We were in town somewhat last minute staying at Hotel Indigo. The hotel provides $10 drink coupons so we decided to drop in for an impromptu drink while planning our dinner strategy. It was already 7p so no view but live music and a nice buzzy ambiance. Wait staff were fast and friendly, and before we knew it two delicious cocktails were in front of us. At the same time, I overheard the waitress at the table beside us saying that food could be ordered from El Gaucho downstairs. So we asked for a menu and started perusing. If you don't know El Gaucho it's a classic steak restaurant with lots of cuts and sizes, a sprinkling of seafood, the usual salads, and tableside this and that. A notch above Ruth's Chris, Morton's or The Capital Grille but with Peter Luger Manhattan prices. Yes, that's right, Manhattan prices in Vancouver. WA. The Couv is all grown up. Or at least trying to be, Like Witness Tree, El Gaucho has a mandatory 20% gratuity regardless of party size. Theoretically this shouldn't be an issue if you know restaurant culture and tip appropriately but I think a mandatory fee rubs many wrong to assume service will always be at that level. And on top of very high prices. A $72 6oz filet is $86, so those 8 bites better be damn good. That said, we ordered oysters, a filet, seafood pasta, and wine. The wine list was decent but not as extensive for a premium steak restaurant. Wines had the typical markup which meant $20-35+ per glass. Both the pasta and steak were good but - and this may sound picky - at $72 for 6 ounces of steak (a bar of soap) I expect perfection which means medium rare throughout. The steak was medium in some parts. If I can achieve medium rare throughout at home it should be possible here. So here's the math (rounded) for those interested. Total bill: $295. $225 food and drinks, $45 service fee (mandatory 20%), and $24 tax (8.8%). Interestingly, the 20% service charge is taxed which means we actually paid $49 or 28.8%. Had I been given the choice of my own 20% tip it would be applied to food and drink and a slightly lower bill. Not a huge deal but these are the little details - call it "nickel and diming" patrons - that rub many wrong. One note - another server came to our table before our food arrived and placed a steak in front of me. Before he could place the other dish I told him it wasn't our order. He picked up the steak and delivered to another table. In most restaurants - and certainly in a premium setting - that dish should have been remade. Whether perception or simple hygiene you simply can't do that. All in all, the Witness Tree was a nice spot, with tasty cocktails and ambiance. Prices and service fee will be off putting for some, and not sure this would be my go-to as there are many rooftop / view options nearby.

A special shoutout to our server, Robin, who handled our party of 35 people incredibly well. She was organized, attentive, and kept everything running seamlessly. Managing a group that size isn't easy, and she made it look effortless. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Robin if you're dining with a big group!

Intentionally set earlier in the day understanding the significance of the day. (Been together over 20 years.) When we arrived my husband kindly requested a window table with view of the water. The woman taking the reservation info advised that she would try, but "so busy" etc. We were sat at a half circular booth that was facing water but set back from water. I just want to note there were 7 tables open at window seating. 3 of which were 2 tops. We did have 3, so essentially for us, 4 EMPTY tables could have accommodated our request. 2 remained empty the entirety of our meal. So I just can't understand why this request wouldn't be granted. Waitress we were assigned was amazing. On top of things, refills etc. We got the wing appetizer, cheese curds, and the wedge salad as appetizers. They were all good. The wings I would get with no sauce. The sauce on them was very ketchup reminiscent. For the entrees we both did the steak frites. Fries were amazing. The steak was sooooo tough. Medium rare didn't save them. Our child got the half pizza and demolished. For dessert we got the cookie with ice cream and the valentines special cheesecake. Both were delicious. Overall 3.5. Could use some help at front. If you don't realize you have that many free tables and could easily accommodate a paying customer the table they prefer, it just simply doesn't make sense. At the end, I did ask manager why we wouldn't be able to sit where we requested and there really was just no good reason. It was just a shrug like it was a busy day. Like I guess maybe saving for make believe guests?? LOL unreal. It's not often I would question things. But this was just absurd. Again, I need to say, our waitress was amazing. Food was fine. Just a very weird experience as far as seating. Like who are you saving those seats for?? Anywho. Enjoy!

The duo of bartenders covering the area did an awesome job (thank you guys!). I tried a draft cider and we got an order of coconut prawns to start. Not only were the prawns delicious, the slaw they came on was soooo tasty. We both tried the social hour burgers. We got them with double patties and fries. The burgers were cooked beautifully and the seasoning really worked well. The fries were a perfect crisp golden brown and they were salted well. I got some garlic aioli, so so so good! Great service, great venue, great food!

Stopped in for our 4th or 5th visit to celebrate my wife's birthday last Friday night April 17th…read more.. The Cove has always been a great choice in the past for special dinners/occasions. Unfortunately this time, we left very disappointed. My wife has a sensitivity to spicy foods. Upon ordering appetizers for the table, we asked if any of them (that had a spicy description on the menu) had the option to have the sauce on the side. She proceeded to ask how the scallops were and went ahead with that order. There was absolutely no description of having any spicy component on the menu nor any mention by the server. Upon her first bite of the risotto, she went into a severe coughing fit :( I tasted it and acknowledged how spicy it was. She proceeded to just eat the scallops. We were mostly done when the waiter came to check on us ... My wife asked if the dish is typically spicy. Response was "oh yes" ... It was completely lost on us why he wouldn't have mentioned that to her upon ordering knowing how she questioned the appetizers. His offer at this point was a new meal .. which was nice but we were mostly done. There really wasn't much in the way of sincerity beyond that. It seems the right thing to have done was offer my wife (celebrating her birthday) who didn't enjoy her meal ... maybe a comp'd drink or maybe a dessert (no acknowledgment of her birthday at all. When you spend north of $300 ... Disappointing to say the least. Upon leaving, I decided to just express my concern to the hostess and suggested adding the spice level of this specific entree to the menu. I reaffirmed my wife didn't get to fully enjoy her meal. I received a lukewarm "thanks for letting us know." The worst part of the whole experience was a manager/owner type was a few steps behind her, made eye contact and was fully aware i had an issue and made absolutely no attempt to come over and address the complaint. I no longer blame the waiter for his lack of concern knowing it flows from the top. We all go out and spend top dollar at nice restaurants for good food but also, for service and the experience. The restaurant has been opened awhile and maybe is established enough where this isn't as much of a priority as it was early on. In contrast, we went out the night before to a more established fave restaurant of ours in Portland (Ava Genes). Had an incredible meal, incredible experience, and uber attentive service. They even went the extra mile and made a big deal that we chose them to celebrate. Ended our evening with a simple complimentary scoop of gelato/candle. It was a nice touch. Certainly didn't mind spending the $$$ for that evening. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying The Cove if they've never been (I'm hopeful they just had a bad night) ... but there are so many good choices out there, it will most certainly make us think twice before going back.
