I went to dinner on a Monday night with one of my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday and it was a fantastic meal! Very low-key with very few people in the restaurant. Our food was outstanding! We ordered a brie that had a fabulous fig sauce on top and then also we ordered a burger. That was absolutely incredible! One of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten in my life! My dessert was a disappointment. The chocolate lava cake was really dense and hard and not at all like I think of as a lava cake. My friends crème brûlée seemed fine. We've frequented the Sedgwick a few times now. Being newer to the area, we believe in giving all restaurants a few chances to win a place in our regular rotation. We originally found the Sedgwick on a cold winter's night in 2023. We stopped in for what we planned was a quick appetizer and drink. We ended up staying for dinner at the bar. The bar is well lit and very classy. The staff is dressed appropriately. Drinks are very good but do take a minute to craft. They are on the pricy side. The food is absolutely wonderful. Truly. Excellent food, excellent chef. However, for the portion size, it's pricey. One can understand they are doing this intentionally to maintain a higher class of patrons but the tab was a bit jarring. We've been back a couple times, took friends once. They enjoyed it but they too, did mention the prices. Great place in the heart of downtown. We'll be back. Hopefully they'll adjust portions to match their pricing. read more

Wow... just wow! What a great dining experience. We came in on a quiet night. We were given the heads up that service might be a little slow because of a staffing issue, but we saw no issues at all. Our server did a great job of taking care of our table. We caught the tail end of happy hour and got some old fashioneds. They were smooth and went down way too easy. We snacked on some duck fat fries while we waited for the entrees to arrive. The fried Brie was really that savory goodness you would hope for. The dipping sauce was an unexpected flavor profile, I think it was squash. It absolutely worked! The French Burger was amazing! The beef was super high quality, and it was cooked to perfection! The apple and Brie combination was a first for me on a burger and I'm so glad I tried it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The desserts... oh my... another highlight! The bread pudding may be the best I've ever had and the twister meringue was epic happiness in every bite. It was like having a deconstructed lemon meringue pie with toasted marshmallow. So good! If there was a 6 star, I would give. We had a birthday reservation for Feast 316 in Camas. Unfortunately, they had a gas leak and had to close for 24 hrs. The owner contacted me to apologize for our inconvenience. I shared that it was my husband's birthday and was looking forward to a good steak. He said, Oh, well we have a second restaurant in Vancouver and I would be happy to comp your table Cocktails. He also, said he could call and set up reservations. Outstanding service!!!! We went on a double date here on a Saturday evening and were sat in the bar area. They have a beautiful and grand chandelier in there. They enjoy their hanging lights cause in the single bathroom in the bar, they have 4 lamps and I was like wow. Service was great! Very informative and attentive. We never needed to look for her. We went with her suggestion to share everything and that made the experience more fun. I loved the truffle mac and cheese, fried Brie cubes, and the scallop yakitori. The scallops are cute little guys and very tasty. All the skewers were delicious. I think next time I would skip the beef cheek poutine. The beef cheek was the best part and the other ingredients were just so so. Dessert? We got the chocolate pot de creme and chocolate lava cake. If you're just getting one, I'd recommend the chocolate lava cake. There are a lot of fun elements on the plate, great for sharing! read more

I really wanted to love this place. The service is good, but when you're the only table--you're the only table--but she/they were wonderful. Ambiance couldn't be better and the little touches to the big wow pieces of decor is fantastic, but a build up for, what was unfortunately just an okay meal. We got a little of everything. The baked Brie is a must--but lacking in the chutney and marmalade front. The scallops were inedible (odd flavor and covered in a sugary BBQ-tasting sauce). Kinda same story on the rest (chowder, squash soup, fries, steak skewer, etc), just a miss by being dry, flavorless or just un-salted. But! The pearl onion skewer, can I get 10 to go. I would say, oddly enough, I'd give this place another go, and I urge you too. Maybe just an off night or so. The seasoning on the batter was a little inconsistent, but dipping it into the tangy tom yum sauce really elevated everything. Without the sauce, the fish was a bit bland -- but the summer salad on the side was bright, fresh, and a great contrast. Fingerling Potatoes Get. These. Immediately. Creamy gouda fondue, blue cheese, and little pork belly bites made this insanely flavorful -- and I don't even like blue cheese! Rich, savory, indulgent... everything you want from a side dish. We were so surprised to arrive just before 1 PM on a Friday and have the place almost all to ourselves. It made me wonder at first if maybe it wasn't that good, but it turns out it was really good. We started off with the focaccia that came with a fantastic dipping sauce. The bread was toasted so perfectly to have that crisp on the outside, but the inside was incredibly tender and flavorful. For seven bucks you can't go wrong with this and recommend it with anything else you're having . We also shared the spaghetti squash which I liked a lot, but my dining companion didn't particularly care for. It's cooked "al dente "and not everybody appreciates squash that is a bit crispy, but I found the flavors to be delightful and would order it again. We wanted to add a protein, so we had the chicken thigh and green onion yakitori, which I was unfamiliar with and learned that it's basically skewered protein. This was incredibly tasty and I'm not sure what kind of sauce it had on it, but it had just the right amount of a salty and sweet taste And we both enjoyed this a lot. Coffee was very good and the service was perfect. Oh, by the way, dishes are served family style, and meant to be shared so this worked perfectly for us! The restaurant is in the bottom floor of a very old building that has fantastic pictures of old time Vancouver all over. Five others and I dined here last evening. First, I want to say that I have lived and died over the previous seven years by Yelp reviews. What I mean in this case is that I live in Portland, Oregon, but we decided to dine in Vancouver, Washington. Well, this time, the people doing reviews on this app must not have eaten at the same restaurant I did. Who are all these people giving this place 4-star reviews? Are they bots? The food was wildly overpriced and very hit-or-miss. We ordered a good deal of items from the menu. The frog legs were very frog-tasting and were burnt. The Brie was good, but they only gave you a tiny piece of cornbread with a massive bowl of cheese. The burger tasted like a homemade burger--not in a good way. The grilled artichoke salad consisted of canned artichokes. How does one grill a jarred artichoke? The salad was swimming in oil. My father had the butternut squash soup and said it was good. The duck fat fries were "meh." I could go on, but you get the drift. The drinks were another strange thing. They were mocktails, but they were all way too strong-tasting. The mixes were all wrong. The restaurant itself was strange. It was cut in half, with one side serving as a lounge and the other as a dining room--completely empty. We sat in the lounge. The service was average. Our waitress put in a ticket for one item, and when we asked her about it when it was time to leave, she stated that the kitchen must not have seen the ticket. I believe I am being very generous with a three-star review. I feel like the reviews come from people who were intoxicated and whose taste buds were off. I will not be returning here. I came in with high expectations based on the reviews, but left a bit underwhelmed. Atmosphere was nice and staff & service were friendly. Taking our orders and getting food and drinks took a little longer since they only had one server for the entire dining room. I ordered the French Burger, which sounds incredible on paper -ground filet, ribeye, brie, apple slices, truffle-caramelized red onion, and a fig grain mustard aioli. Unfortunately, none of the flavors really stood out, and I've had burgers at Killer Burger that were just as good, if not better. The Duck Fat Fries were solid - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside - but at $15, they didn't quite justify the price point. On the brighter side, the Hello You Handsome Devil cocktail was genuinely delicious. Will I be back? Very disappointed in the food. Menu reads nice, but not prepared well. We ordered many dishes, they all were prepared with similar ingredients. 300$ for 2 adults and a 4yr old. Octopus was bad. I hate doing this, but I know food. Have eaten alot of Octopus in Spain, Mexico.....was hoping at least the Ribeye would be good, NO, 60 bucks, they didn't serve it whole. It came already cut, 5or6 small pieces. Ordered med rare. It was tough, no fat, not juicy. It was sirloin, not ribeye. Grew up on a cattle farm, so I know. We had the "fried chicken" (too fatty), sedgewick salad (simple/fine), French burgers x 3 (all over cooked). Why ask how do I want your burger prepared if you can't execute it's doneness? A focacca bread that is so small, I laugh that it was to be shared. The restaurant is nice. Not sure what the Marilyn Monroe statue is there for? We came with some friends, and had a nice meal here. In terms of food, I really enjoyed the Mushroom Risotto. The yakitori (small steak bites) were also good. We had a seafood ravioli special which I'd pass on. We also had a butternut squash soup, which I'd pass on. The service was great. We also had no wait, though it was a popular place and they were busy. Sidenote: Downtown Vancouver is really hopping. Nice little place tucked into a side street near a park. Walked in and the dining room was closed for a private event but the bar/lounge was open for dinner so I wandered up there. Eclectic mix of tables so I picked one near the door and settled in. Had a decent happy hour menu so In picked the old fashioned and reviewed the menu. Settled on the potato crusted halibut, roasted asparagus side and a falafel scotch egg appetizer The waitress said things will come out as ready and I said ok, but didn't realize it was exactly like that. The asparagus came out first! Lol. Then the scotch egg then the halibut. All fairly quick so I had all my food at once. Asparagus was really good, cooked well and covered in a tasty sauce. Scotch egg was huge, very good but a lot of it. I couldn't finish it all Halibut was amazing, very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Loved it and wish I had more! Sauce with it was really good too They have an extensive whiskey selection and I asked for a list, but they didn't have one, but the bartender said she'd make me one, amazing service! Let me start by saying our waiter was Jack and he was absolutely amazing and remember our group from our visit. The atmosphere was really nice and laid back for a Sunday brunch. I order the duck fat fries and it came with a dip/gravy that was so good, I also got the Avocado croissant breakfast sandwich from there brunch menu and a side of the fingerling potatos so good. Not picture was the the bakes Brie so so so good i would recommend putting a little of each topping and a good drizzle of honey on each bite everything complements each other. Open four years why I just found it is criminal. My tastebuds danced and I'm sure I proposed to the steak. The wait staff was very kind and helpful the atmosphere was dark and warm. I have not had food this good since I ate in San Francisco and Dallas Texas. Nothing was okay. Everything we had was stupid-crazy-blew-my-mind-delicious and no I'm not expecting anyone else to understand this just know if there's something you like you will love how it's made here. If you don't want change stay home and eat. Life is too short not to taste the whole menu. These people love to prepare and serve food and it shows. We tried several desserts the bread pudding the pears and chocolate cake were all delicious but I barely had room. Service was prompt and friendly, the food was incredible and the presentation was very pleasing to the eye. we tried several of the skewers, all were delicious. The baked Brie came with this adorable little honey pot to use. I enjoyed the burger on lettuce instead of a bun and the flavor was so amazing. Very well-Seasoned with a delicious sear. Since losing Lapella and Three Sixty the first year of the pandemic, we have been searching for another place for special occasions and entertaining out-of-town guests. The waterfront is a great addition to The Couve, but it doesn't have that laid back hipster vibe which the downtown has. We have eaten at almost all of the restaurants on the waterfront and have a place or 2 we can take out of town guests to but we wanted something in downtown which has that laid back Couve vibe. And... our search has ended at THE SEDGEWICK!!! To me, The Sedgwick is the epitome of what The Couve food scene is. Innovative and eclectic cuisine served up in a laid back, comfortable venue, and has reasonable prices in these inflationary times. We ate here for our anniversary and had a fabulous meal. We had the chicken, shrimp and rib eye skewers off the yakitori menu and mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus off the tapas menu. Everything was fabulous worthy of a special occasion. Me and my boyfriend decided to try this place out and i had high hopes for it since the reviews made it seem high end. I walked in and was waiting at the door for around 10 minutes not to mention the Servers walking around. We finally then sat down 1. What a great attitude and customer service! We did go for dinner, the hostess showed us the dining room and the lounge so we can decide where we would prefer to sit. The waiter was very helpful, explained menu and how to order. We ordered the house salad and coconut curry bisque. The soup was amazing, would order that every time. Entrees were the trout, short rib birria, and the ribeye yakitori. The trout and birria were delicious! The yakitori sauce was very salty for our taste. Next time would prefer on the side or light sauce, if possible. We were stuffed, so no dessert. I loved everything about this place - except how hard it was to find - but that was because the downtown construction got my Google Maps confused, which is no fault of the restaurant. I ordered the French burger - which was DEEEELISH!! But you have to love brie, green granny apples and caramelized onions, which I do!! They even cooked it well done - like I like! My dad thinks that is a sin but I like my meat to almost be crispy - like when you barbeque. I was soo tempted to order the burger with the crab but I'm not adventurous enough and would need a bite of someone else's. I love burgers & I love crab - I am just not sure I want them together. I also ordered the "Ron puts bacon on everything" (an Old Fashioned with a large, thick, spicy & sweet piece of bacon) and loved every sip. Now, for the staff... Our server, a male (I am going to assume his gender - he he) was awesome!! I am pretty sure he had brownish hair and a slight beard (meaning, not one you could braid but not peach fuzz either). There were 20 of us and he got every food and drink order correct and our food came out piping hot. He got our bills correct too! He also took a great group photo for us. The kitchen staff killed it and the food was wonderful! Thank you for getting everything perfect and out in a timely fashion. Clearly the front and back staff work like a well-oiled machine. Lastly, thank you to the management for accommodating our large group and letting us have separate checks. This is a make or break for me and I will not go back to restaurants that only allow 1 check. It's just too stressful to figure out and so it is not worth it. We had the Old Fashioned and Apple Margarita to start. Perfect drinks! The candied bacon atop the Old Fashioned - was delicious! We ordered the Japanese Fried Rabbit and Fried Olives to start. I am obsessed with the Fried Olives! The breading on the Japanese Fried Rabbit was delicious - would have probably chosen a sweeter accompany in the side sauce! HOUSE PORK CRAKLIN $5.50 chicharron, queso crumbles, apples & pears . fennel peach marmalade. *This dish was a 10. I have had cracklin before but nothing like this. The fennel peach marmalade put this dish over the top. I now crave Craklin! Serving size 2-3 people. DUCK FAT FRIES $9.50 Twice cooked . topped with manchego & chives . served with duck fennel peppercorn gravy. *Dressing the fries with duck fennel gravy made the fries seem elegant and flavorful. Who needs ketchup not this dish. Large portion enough for 5 people. MURRY'S CORNER BURGER $11.00 Grilled sweet roll . swiss . bacon, sundried tomato, coffee jam . tempura cremini mushroom . chili lime aioli *My husband loves burgers this burger did not disappoint. The burger was cooked perfectly medium, without asking. The sweet roll bun topped upon a savory meat patty is a winning and unique combo.
