Fantastically unique cool & hip cozy wine bar. I've never been to a wine bar that was so quaint featuring private sitting areas

This is a great little find in down town Vancouver! We went for my Mom's bachelorette party and the food, wine and atmosphere were fantastic. Really enjoyed it here and would make another trip when there is a craving for wine and nibbles! The flights are a great way to sample a few things. The tarte flambeé was fantastic and everyone at the table seemed to want to share ;)

Love this place...outstanding wine selections and their meat and cheese plates are just awesome. Love the bread they serve with their meat and cheese plates...excellent service and knowledgeable staff. One of my favorite downtown locations! Great place to go before or after a show at the Kiggins Theatre which is right next door.

Cozy & relaxing atmosphere ! Owner suggested an Italian Pinot Grigio . Charcuterie was delicious as was the bread. I will return to try their special pizza.

This is a very small cozy wine bar with a neat black raven/bird decorative theme. The have a great selection of wines by the half glass and glass. They have a fairly limited selection of beer. They offer small bites and tarts to snack on. There is ample seating at the bar, but limited away from the bar. We sat at the bar and received a brusque welcome and a strained smile. Not feeling particularly welcome, we soldiered on and ordered the rioja, an amber ale, some bread and oil. The service was fast, but distracted and not exactly pleasant. Sitting at the bar, we had a direct view of the dish washing area, scrubbers and tupperware. All of their prep and cooking happens behind the bar, but is a fairly unattractive set-up. Being that most of the customers face that area, it might benefit from a bit of an overhaul. The wine was delicious, but the unwelcoming staff and bar seating view kind of dampened my enthusiasm for this wine bar.

    Yummy Rose!

My favorite wine bar ever!! Best in Vancouver for sure. Leah the owner is fantastic. Great little place right by Kiggins theater, you have to go! Each time I have been here, I get the rose. It never disappoints. They don't have a full kitchen so they make small bites and a to DIE for flatbread, tart. Its cheesy, salty (prosciutto) goodness. I always sit at the bar but they have comfy seating all around. Kind of a hidden gem in Downtown Vancouver.

Classic Tart...no not me....the food. Yummy Prosecco.

Hello Yelpland, This is your Duchess (of Niche)....I would like to invite you to my favorite little haunt in Vancouver. Awesome snacks, great prosecco and fun ladies to help you select a new favorite wine. So come on down but save me a seat because once word gets out this place will be hard to get into. The original tart is a MUST! Gruyere cheese bubbling on top of smoked prosciutto YUM. You will love it!!! Good cheeses and salumi also. See you there!

    Wine!!!! Lots!

I love wine! I love art! I love cheese! Throw amazing hospitality and a home like feel to it and you're hooked! I love staying and talking with the owner, Leah and her employees. They really take the time to get to know you and help you on your wine journey! I have learned very much about wine because of them! Fantastic!

We originally found the Sedgwick on a cold winter's night in 2023. We stopped in for what we planned was a quick appetizer and drink. We ended up staying for dinner at the bar. The bar is well lit and very classy. The staff is dressed appropriately. Drinks are very good but do take a minute to craft. They are on the pricy side. The food is absolutely wonderful. Truly. Excellent food, excellent chef. However, for the portion size, it's pricey. One can understand they are doing this intentionally to maintain a higher class of patrons but the tab was a bit jarring. We've been back a couple times, took friends once. They enjoyed it but they too, did mention the prices. Great place in the heart of downtown. We'll be back. Hopefully they'll adjust portions to match their pricing.

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

It's close enough to walk to, which makes it even better. Honestly, every time I walk through the door, I almost want to start singing the Cheers theme song. This is now my third visit, and each time I've had a great experience. The crowd is incredibly friendly, and there's just something about this place that makes you feel welcome. On my first visit, I sat at the bar and met Randi, the bartender. She is absolutely amazing! She knows everyone by name and has that wonderful ability to make you feel like you've been coming there forever. I started with the calamari, and Randi set me up with some chipotle mayo for dipping. Excellent choice! I finished with the combination pizza. At first, I thought the crust was sourdough, but I was told it's actually a bagel crust. Regardless of what you call it, it was absolutely delicious! My second visit was about a week and a half later. I sat at the bar again, and Randi looked at me, smiled, and said, "Tony, right?" Now THAT is pretty amazing! Remembering my name after only one previous visit--and with a week and a half between visits--is exactly the kind of personal touch that makes a place special. Of course, I had to order the calamari again. This time I also tried the fried chicken. And if you're looking for a big portion, this is definitely worth checking out! For my third visit, I brought a couple of friends along. Candace took great care of us and did an amazing job as well. We started with the Italian meatball soup, and it was phenomenal. We also tried the fajita tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. While sitting at a regular table this time, I noticed some pretty impressive accolades on the wall. Uptown Barrel Room was named Best Wine Bar and Best Seafood in 2023, and Best Wine Bar again in 2024. It's always fun finding those little neighborhood gems, especially when you're new to an area. For me, Uptown Barrel Room has quickly become one of those places where you can walk in, see friendly faces, enjoy some great food, and feel like you belong. If you're in the area, go in and give it a try. You will not be sorry! And if you see me sitting at the bar, just come say hi. Apparently, Randi already knows my name. I ordered a large cold brew and a pecan bar from the pastry case. The cold brew was actually really good -- strong, smooth, and definitely woke me up. The pecan bar, though, wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little aged/stale and unfortunately didn't really hit the mark for me (especially when you grow up spoiled by homemade pecan bars ). Service was okay but not particularly warm or welcoming. More of a "take your order and keep it moving" type of atmosphere. Nothing rude, just not overly friendly either.
