Charlie Tango

This is fun, hipster-esque bar with upscale cocktails. There is lots of booth and table seating inside and on a Friday night it wasn't too busy at all. The bartender was kind and our drinks were out pretty fast. I had the Charlie Tango drink, which was a great fruity and sweet rum drink. My friend got the foxtrot, which was a solid mezcal drink that wasn't overpowering.

Me & my buddy stopped by here and wow it was great! The drinks are absolutely amazing. the espresso martini is fire, we watched the bartender make it then she came over & explained it cuz we were gonna try to make it at home. The nachos were a good size and tasted great. Overall this is a great bar with good food and drinks & all the staff is friendly

Holy moly. These drinks can't get any better and the service is amazing. Don't skip on the quiet scene because the interior is even better. Love the music too

Great service, awesome cocktails, fun atmosphere and they have a wall of old Atari video games plus a Photo Booth! Love the vibe!

Great cocktails, large selection of drink options, and fun atmosphere. Fun Photo Booth, retro games. Feels upscale but not pretentious. Friendly bartender who was knowledgeable.

I gave this place a 4 only because I wish they had more food options, but I know there's only one gentleman currently making all the food and fresh I might add! I had their deviled eggs and they were so delicious!! And it get 6 halves, so plenty! They may run out of things because the cook likes to have everything fresh, so my friend was not able to get the crab filled mushrooms. The drinks were delicious and prices were reasonable. I love the decor and the ambiance, love the booths and the photobooth! Highly recommend and will definitely be back! Oh, also you order at the bar. I totally missed that because the sign is on a sandwich board down loan.

This is the first time at this little gem. Curb appeal is strong and inside is super cute. Fox is the theme here, obviously. We came in for some happy hour food and (too many drinks). Service is order at bar, which I get, but a minus for me--but to each their own and on a slow night, maybe make an exception? Though when things were delivered, could sneak in another order no problem. Drinks are plentiful in selection and generous in pour. So nothing to complain about here! See pic. Prices are great for happy hour 7$ for drinks and food is also super affordable. We had the pretzel, nachos and deviled eggs (I would not order the eggs again as they were packaged (pre-boiled seems like a awhile ago) and rubbery with not a lot of flavor. Will try this place again for sure!

It is awesome to see that this cute little spot is now open! I was excited to check it out, and see what they had to offer! Let me start with how the look of the place was. Upon walking in, it is way bigger inside then you may think based on the outside! There is lots of room to move around and it doesn't look like it would get cramped up even if it was super busy. We sat at the bar and got food and drinks (I like getting a little taste of multiple things at new places to gauge how I'm feeling about the overall offerings!) The cocktails we had were VERY good. I would deff go back for another one! The food was ok, but wasn't my favorite (personal preference) We ordered the shrimp, nachos and mushroom pouch things! I'll review each item below; Shrimp $10- I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting 4 shrimp. They were seasoned shrimp, and that's all they were. Don't get me wrong, they were tasty. But not for $10.. Nachos $10- These were not bad, and had good flavor. My only dislike was that we added ground beef to the nachos and when the nachos came out the beef was very cold, and did not seem very fresh. Though the jalapeños were very fresh. I think I would get them again, and just not add beef. Mushroom Phyllo bites $12- These were very tasty. Flavorful and tasted a lot like baklava but with mushrooms. There were 4 on a plate. Overall, I would give this place 4 stars for now. This is based on the fact they are still new and most likely working through opening adjustments. I am also basing the rating off of how good the cocktails were! If you're in the area, check this place out if you're looking for a unique cocktail and a cool vibe! I will deff try this place out again and potentially give the food another go at some point!

I love stopping by this bar for cocktails. Such a cute little spot with good vibes. Love the decor and everything about it, but hate that there's always little flies or gnats near the booths and table by the door. Staff is nice and friendly, drinks are delicious but a little over priced. Haven't tried the food yet but will eventually one of these days. They do have games in the back of the bar and also a photo both they I believe is $5. It is downtown so it's all street parking and usually always full.

Aleppo Chicken Skewers ~ that peanut sauce with the slaw is an experience all by itself

I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Foxhole which is a couple blocks from my house. The building has been many things before it was resurrected and turned into the coolest cocktail bar in downtown Vancouver. Every detail put into making this bar feel swanky yet comfortable is impressive. The booths are comfortable and semi private. We chose to sit in a booth because we had friends joining us. We ordered at the bar I am not sure if they have table service which is not a game changer for us. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu (4-6pm) Spicy Mango Margaritas. This cocktail was well balanced with just the right amount of sour, sweet with a touch of spice making it delicious enough to want more. It was presented in a rocks glass with a chili salted rim and a fresh lime. The Happy Hour food menu is rather impressive. We ordered deviled egg which had a very creamy fluffy filling and paired perfectly with a jamish (some sort of jam in the sauce like raspberry) style bbq sauce. A Mexican Street Corn nacho- tortilla chips topped with a queso style cheese sauce, sweet corn, chicken and fresh jalapeños. This dish is big enough for two but it was delicious enough for me to want it all fit myself. We also ordered Aleppo Chicken Skewers with spicy peanut sauce- the chicken was incredibly tender, served over slaw. After we devoured the (2) savory chicken skewers we discovered how the sauce and slaw make for a grand finale. It was so delicious my husband want to lick the plate...seriously, I had too stop him. It definitely was a bonus treat at the end. All in all we were very impressed. We will be back regularly.

Espresso martini, margarita, and old fashion

Really cute bar in downtown Vancouver. Great photo booth pictures. Prices are reasonable and cocktails are good. Been here a few times now and never super busy. Volume is good to have conversations unlike six shooter (which is next door).

The area has developed quickly and having grown up nearby and moved away years ago, it's amazing to see what's happened along here. Prices - well, everyone has their hand out along here. We were in town somewhat last minute staying at Hotel Indigo. The hotel provides $10 drink coupons so we decided to drop in for an impromptu drink while planning our dinner strategy. It was already 7p so no view but live music and a nice buzzy ambiance. Wait staff were fast and friendly, and before we knew it two delicious cocktails were in front of us. At the same time, I overheard the waitress at the table beside us saying that food could be ordered from El Gaucho downstairs. So we asked for a menu and started perusing. If you don't know El Gaucho it's a classic steak restaurant with lots of cuts and sizes, a sprinkling of seafood, the usual salads, and tableside this and that. A notch above Ruth's Chris, Morton's or The Capital Grille but with Peter Luger Manhattan prices. Yes, that's right, Manhattan prices in Vancouver. WA. The Couv is all grown up. Or at least trying to be, Like Witness Tree, El Gaucho has a mandatory 20% gratuity regardless of party size. Theoretically this shouldn't be an issue if you know restaurant culture and tip appropriately but I think a mandatory fee rubs many wrong to assume service will always be at that level. And on top of very high prices. A $72 6oz filet is $86, so those 8 bites better be damn good. That said, we ordered oysters, a filet, seafood pasta, and wine. The wine list was decent but not as extensive for a premium steak restaurant. Wines had the typical markup which meant $20-35+ per glass. Both the pasta and steak were good but - and this may sound picky - at $72 for 6 ounces of steak (a bar of soap) I expect perfection which means medium rare throughout. The steak was medium in some parts. If I can achieve medium rare throughout at home it should be possible here. So here's the math (rounded) for those interested. Total bill: $295. $225 food and drinks, $45 service fee (mandatory 20%), and $24 tax (8.8%). Interestingly, the 20% service charge is taxed which means we actually paid $49 or 28.8%. Had I been given the choice of my own 20% tip it would be applied to food and drink and a slightly lower bill. Not a huge deal but these are the little details - call it "nickel and diming" patrons - that rub many wrong. One note - another server came to our table before our food arrived and placed a steak in front of me. Before he could place the other dish I told him it wasn't our order. He picked up the steak and delivered to another table. In most restaurants - and certainly in a premium setting - that dish should have been remade. Whether perception or simple hygiene you simply can't do that. All in all, the Witness Tree was a nice spot, with tasty cocktails and ambiance. Prices and service fee will be off putting for some, and not sure this would be my go-to as there are many rooftop / view options nearby.

I ordered a drink of the mixed drinks and my husband got a margarita. The drink was so bad - neither one of us could drink it. I don't think I've ever returned a drink I can't pound before haha. It was 10 minutes before I went home to the bar to ask for something different - no one came by to ask how things were. The guava choice I picked for the second - not good. Watered down flavors of who knows. The drinks at Wahi Hanna are amazing in comparison - especially with the Dole Whip vibe. The spam fries were $9 for half a can of spam cut up and put in the oven with a side of mayo? The loco moco was promising but tasted like something you'd get at Kenjis - not a Hawaiian spot. I feel like with a lot of tweaks in flavor - this could be a great spot.

Intentionally set earlier in the day understanding the significance of the day. (Been together over 20 years.) When we arrived my husband kindly requested a window table with view of the water. The woman taking the reservation info advised that she would try, but "so busy" etc. We were sat at a half circular booth that was facing water but set back from water. I just want to note there were 7 tables open at window seating. 3 of which were 2 tops. We did have 3, so essentially for us, 4 EMPTY tables could have accommodated our request. 2 remained empty the entirety of our meal. So I just can't understand why this request wouldn't be granted. Waitress we were assigned was amazing. On top of things, refills etc. We got the wing appetizer, cheese curds, and the wedge salad as appetizers. They were all good. The wings I would get with no sauce. The sauce on them was very ketchup reminiscent. For the entrees we both did the steak frites. Fries were amazing. The steak was sooooo tough. Medium rare didn't save them. Our child got the half pizza and demolished. For dessert we got the cookie with ice cream and the valentines special cheesecake. Both were delicious. Overall 3.5. Could use some help at front. If you don't realize you have that many free tables and could easily accommodate a paying customer the table they prefer, it just simply doesn't make sense. At the end, I did ask manager why we wouldn't be able to sit where we requested and there really was just no good reason. It was just a shrug like it was a busy day. Like I guess maybe saving for make believe guests?? LOL unreal. It's not often I would question things. But this was just absurd. Again, I need to say, our waitress was amazing. Food was fine. Just a very weird experience as far as seating. Like who are you saving those seats for?? Anywho. Enjoy!

We waited thinking the food would be quickly replenished, but restocking was consistently slow throughout the entire meal. Even after multiple reminders, they would only bring out very small amounts at a time despite long lines of guests waiting. To their credit, the ambiance was nice. The Mother's Day decorations, live music, and small bracelet gift were thoughtful touches. However, the food quality and service simply did not justify the cost. At $100 per person plus service fees (close to $600 total excluding tips for our group of four), we expected a much more organized and well-stocked brunch experience. The most surprising part was that a steakhouse buffet didn't even include steak. Sadly, this experience made us question whether we'd return for their regular dining service.
