If you're looking for atmosphere, to grab a cocktail in an ultra-swanky and modern place, you'll probably LOVE AC Lounge. AC Lounge positively exudes a chic and cool, almost high-tech without being over-the-top vibe. It is a cool place to be, if you're looking for a cool place to be. If you come for a good meal or for seeing live music, AC Lounge falls flat on its face. First, the food. It is NOT good. I selected a steak tip skewer appetizer, a mushroom ragout entrée, and a Basque cheesecake for dessert. They were all impressively bad. The skewered steak was overcooked, and any beef flavor was completely masked by the overwhelming balsamic vinegar that they seem to have marinated the beef in. The menu made no mention of balsamic, so it being the only discernible flavor was pretty jarring. The "curried" carrot puree tasted of really nothing, much less curry, and the fries were crispy and non-greasy, but also somehow flavorless. The mushroom ragout was a disaster. Every had Tuna Helper? That's pretty much what this was, only with no tuna, and less flavor...very muddled and flat flavor profile (think "earthy"), with entirely too dark and too thick of a sauce. There was NO brightness at all...a splash of white wine would have done wonders to elevate the dish. I also encountered a small, very hard item in the ragout, which may have been a piece of the mushroom-growing substrate that wasn't properly cleaned, but who knows? Normally, something like this would have been jarring and alarming, but it seemed to be right in stride with the (lack of) quality of everything else. I'd hoped that the bread served with it would have been good, but it wasn't. It is generous in size, but an artisan loaf it is not. It is definitely a commercial loaf produced in a commercial kitchen, about the same quality as a Fred Meyer store-brand loaf. It was made even worse by the literally black / burned garlic adoring its top whose acrid, bitter kick punctuated every attempted bite. Finally, the "Basque" cheesecake was a joke. Look at my photo of it. I'd NEVER previously been served an item that was literally not visible under the comically tragic overuse of garnish. They served it with an entire marigold flower, and a huge number of previously-frozen and heated strawberries. There were two scant two slices of fresh strawberry, which was the best part of the entire dessert. The previously-frozen strawberries and sauce COMPLETLEY overpowered everything, including what appeared to be lemon curd on the cheesecake, but it was literally impossible to taste. The texture of the previously-frozen and heated strawberries was dreadful. So, on to the live music...I honestly don't know why they bother. The vast majority of patrons seemed to be hotel guests, who went to the lounge out of convenience. Besides myself, there were a couple of people who were actually (trying to) paying attention to the music. The musicians were FANTASTIC, but they venue appeared to be doing them a huge disservice. It was very difficult to hear them over the loud conversations of those at the bar and at the rest of the tables. There is no seating directly in front of the performers, all seating is off to the side. This makes for a "dance floor" area, but nobody danced, since again, only a handful of patrons appeared to be there for the music. It is very rare that I'll leave a live show before it is over, but AC Lounge was SO bad that I did just that. As more and more patrons showed up, it made hearing the musicians harder and harder, to the point where leaving seemed more desirable than enduring the frustration any longer. Had a couple of apps mid-afternoon before an event. My wife had an interesting salad with freeze-dried apples, Gouda cheese and chunks of baked squash while I had a small bowl of French onion soup. The salad was on the all-day Happy Hour menu because the restaurant is being renovated and the lounge lacks the river views the restaurant will have. The soup was not on Happy Hour but was still reasonably priced. It was, however, a bit too salty and could have used more broth. Our server was attentive and helpful and made pleasant conversation until our order was ready, then fetched it quickly. All in all, a pleasant bar/happy hour experience but we decided to go somewhere else for our full dinner because the atmosphere isn't as upscale as it surely will be once the restaurant renovation is complete. Came by for a drink after a wedding and the service was great! Our bartender was nice and welcoming. He was helpful when I had questions about the food menu. The bar is one the first floor and you see it as soon as you walk in. They also have outdoor seating with a fire pit. Beautiful place with a beautiful view. Drinks and food were also good! ATTENTION parents: Hidden gem of the waterfront. Week day lunch time this place is the spot for a relaxing, delicious, and service to perfection. Mama of two and we stopped in for a quick lunch after library time. We were seated behind the bar in the booth space. Which was great because no one else was around. Giving the kids space to be kids. She even turned on a cartoon for us. We had Anna as our bartender/waitress who was incredible. From her expert skills creating a light summery drink for me to her suggestions of the menu. We were very pleased with the service. The kiddos had the kids cheese burger and chicken tenders which were huge servings. Enough to bring home for dinner. I had the calamari. All items were great and big portions. See pictures!! Only thing I wish was on the lunch menu that is featured at night is the spicy tuna appetizer. Decided not to leave the hotel for dinner. So glad I stayed in. Great service with super yummy food and amazing music on a Friday night! Spanish flair to the menu. The ambiance and service was great, we were looking over the water, it was beautiful inside and out. However the food was so underwhelming, my husband and I ordered the French dip, sliders and crispy Pork belly.. the French fries on the side were delicious and packed with flavor but that was the highlight for us. Happy hour food was really good. I had the roast beef sliders and they were cheesy, juicy and flavorful. The fries were yummy too, the crispy prosciutto was a nice touch. I may ask for the sauce on the fries, on the side next time so they don't get as soggy. read more

This is Vancouvers best kept secret. This spacious lobby hosts an excellent restaurant with a creative and delicious menu. The service is top notch, representative of Marriott's international brand. We stopped again today for lunch. I had the harissa chicken skewer with pita, hummus and pickled veggies. My husband had the Cuban sandwich with Parmesan fries. Every bite was fresh and tasty. This is much more than a hotel lobby. Check it out for happy hour or dessert. And you can't beat the view with big windows forming the south wall and patio in the summer. read more
