my partner and i stopped in here for the first time because our usual place was unexpectedly closed. thank god it was! metallion cafe immediately has become my new favorite. we were also STARVED and most cafes close around 3pm down here, and if they aren't already closed, they have little to no food options. we ordered a couple teas and some grilled cheese sandos WITH THE SOUP. the prices were reasonable and the food was tasty!! the gal taking our order and making our drinks was very kind and dressed very whimsical, matching the vibe of the cafe perfectly. the ambiance here was what sold me - this place brings back so much nostalgia for what cafes used to be. i personally am tired of the psych ward white colored walls and cool lighting in nearly every single coffee shop. i'm also tired of righteous people and fast paced coffee where the standard is to order your drink, receive it within 30 seconds, and leave. here at metallion, i felt at home, and it is obvious that the rest of the customers there did as well. this is the type of place where they encourage you to stay a while, with shelves of board games, books, and featured local artists. i will be back!!! read more

The coffee was good and the location is great when walking around downtown Vancouver area. They have some indoor seating in their small space, perfect for coffee with a friend, but not all the friends. We stopped by during Pokemon weekend so the small space was packed with people, but not everyone was getting coffee. The service was friendly, but not very fast honestly I think they were overwhelmed by the turnout and weren't staffed for it. read more

I have only wonderful things to say about this adorable little café. I discovered it through a friend group who gathers weekly to work on their crafts together. This adorable and eclectic space is a wonderful little hang out. I love that she has specific nights of the week for activities, such as chess, crafting, etc. The Stumptown coffee, the grilled cheese sandwiches, and the salads all bring delight to the table, literally and figuratively. The owner, Rachel, is a delight, and it's obvious that she has a lot of pride in her little café. I only wish that my entire video would fit instead of just 12 seconds. My favorite coffee shop in Vancouver! The Stumptown coffee is always great and the owner, Rachel, is so friendly and welcoming. I love the homemade lentil soup and the Caprese sandwiches are my favorite. It's kid very kid-friendly with a large assortment of coloring books, toys and games to keep little ones occupied (plus doughnuts which are always a hit). It's a very creative and welcoming space as well - lots of community art and craft gatherings for all to participate in. Metallion is an all-around great neighborhood gathering place. read more

Came to Mon Ami for the first time on an overcast Spring Wednesday at noon with a friend. We found Mon Ami after looking for local Vancouver coffee shops and setting our sights here for the cute vibe. Parking was a breeze with almost every street spot available. Pay at the Kitty parking meters or online via the Kitty parking app. The door was open and there was one couple already inside. They serve both coffee and tea as well as a small assortment of baked goods. The specialties they serve are cute and had me wanting multiple items! Luckily (?) they were out of an item so I opted for my second choice, a Chik-o-stick latte while my friend got a London Fog pot of tea. Decor: Adorable and eclectic. The chairs are all different, the light fixtures are mismatched, there's plants everywhere (that could use a touch of water), and there's art of David Bowie, Betty Paige, and Falcor. I sat on a couch. I love the vibe! The person who took our orders was lovely and pleasant. Such a great experience. Even our cups were different. I loved that it felt like being in someone's home. Chick-o-stick coffee: Ya'll. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am a hummingbird-person. I eat things that are way too sweet for human consumption. And I *love* this drink. Holy moley, PB syrup and maybe honey? I don't know but this was an oddly fantastic combo of flavors that had me raving. The coffee was full bodied and medium-dark, which balanced out the sugars as much as a drink could. The foam on top had a lovely leaf pattern too!! Skillfully made and delicious. London fog pot: Looked delicious and milky! My friend commented it was a full bodied flavor and the lavender was just right, which is sometimes a hit or miss on London Fog! Really cute China pot, saucer, and cup. 10/10 will come back. Is the knitting and chess still on?? The sign was up and I don't know how to do either, but Mon Ami I might just try. read more

This is a gem in Vancouver, especially for a step away from your traditional breakfast options. Espresso drinks with a sweet or savory crepe sounds like a win to me! Gluten free batter as well! The savory one we got was the Turkey, Cheddar, and Tomato , which came with a side of greens. This was incredible. I only took a bite since it wasn't mine, but I could have had 3! So good and melty. Then I chose the Peanut Butter, banana, cinnamon, and honey, all of my favorite things. This was ridiculously good. The peanut butter was melted and creamy, and the honey aroma was blowing my mind. Good year round! This is one of my favorite cafes in the Portland/Vancouver area. The staff is always friendly and I the crepes and drinks are very flavorful. I like that they let you make substitutions to your crepes ( ex. Using white or wheat batter or changing your cheeses). I cannot recommend the matcha green tea latte enough it is my all time favorite and it comes with foam art! read more

Mon Ami is a great local spot - and I mean that in every sense of the word. Vancouver and Portland have gone through a lot of changes (some good, some bad), but Mon Ami is a perfect example of a Pacific NW coffee and brunch place. First off, they have great coffee: the usual standbys (lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, etc.) plus fun flavors to try (like coconut curry and chic-o-stic). The crepes are XL and perfect for brunch with a friend or a quick lunch. Second, the walls are covered with photos, paintings, and other creations from local artists. The aesthetic is: stuff we like made by people we like. You can also buy locally-made cards and gifts. Last but not least, the vibe is great. The staff is super nice and fun to talk to, and (unlike other places) Mon Ami the kind of place you want to hang out. Other coffee shops nearby are kinda echo-y and loud, or have benches instead of chairs (I like back support, what can I say?). I grew up in Vancouver and went to college in Portland. Mon Ami is what a community coffee shop used to be. It's hard for me to put into words other than: If you've only been to over-priced espresso joints with white walls and blonde wood decor, then you've never been to a real Pacific NW coffee shop. My love and I went for a late lunch and are very pleased with the results. His creamy smoked salmon on a buckwheat crepe was wonderful. My French club with brie, turkey, and Apricot jam was yummy. Mon amour and me ventured in to Mon Ami for a Sunday Crepe Breakfast and a couple Lattes. The small coffee shop was busy, but we were able to sit at a small table after just a 5-minute wait. Like most coffee cafes you order at the counter. Her crepe du jour was a Nutella Banana Crepe while I sampled a Honey Cinnamon Banana Crepe. Both were classic thin sweet crepes with light filling and toppings. Both were also just kind of ok ... hence the a-ok 3 stars overall. At last minute, I switched to a Chai Tea, but did get to taste mon amour's Latte. Both were fine ... and finished before the crepes arrived. No worries since there is free self-serve water available. I definitely didn't hate Mon Ami. I can't say I really love it either. Mon Ami is a viable option when seeking a casual coffee shop and creperie in downtown Vancouver, WA. read more
