Was greeted after I was seated but it took another 10 minutes to get my order which I had to emphasize I was ready for both food and beverage order. Went for a weekday breakfast, and glad to learn that even in early morning, bakery, breakfast and lunch items were available plus weekly specials. Very warm and efficient staff. Vincent took great care of us. There were two of us and we couldn't decide between sweet or savory so we opted to share two dishes. We got the veggie hash, with chicken sausage, added, and scrambled eggs, which also came with green salad and a mini croissant. Additionally, we ordered one sourdough pancake. Everything was incredibly delicious. I loved that they offered locally made salsa/hot sauce (from Battle Ground) and had three different types. I went for the hatch chili salsa, which went magnificently on the scrambled eggs. They offered habanero and serrano varieties as well. Great coffee and delectable lattes. Bleu Door Bakery is such a great locally owned delight! Located in downtown Vancouver, they have a relatively large cafe with ample indoor seating and a small outdoor area to enjoy your breakfast or lunch. The space has two sections, their main cafe side and an express side. The staff is all very friendly and personable. They have plenty of options for people with various dietary restrictions. I got there only 30 minutes before they closed so they were pretty picked over. They had so many vegan options though both in their bakery section and in their cafe! Which is difficult to find in the Vancouver area. I ordered the baked oatmeal. It's made with walnuts and seasonally based fruits. It was delicious and filling. I've been here twice with my very smart sister (she's the one who suggested it). It is sure to be on the regular rotation. It's great for two people or 4. I haven't seen big groups but it looks like tables could be pushed together to accommodate whomever walks in the door. A pastry case full of delights is between the door and the host stand. A stronger person may be able to sail right past the case but I get stuck drooling while the hosts nods and smiles. We've alway been seated quickly. Today we waited 5 minutes. It's nice they have a bench for guests who are waiting. Facing the pastry case! Once seated the service is really fast. Employees are friendly and unobtrusive. Although today the wait staff came by to ask how everything was tasting just as I gad a mouthful of quiche. At the rate I was stuffing my face it was bound to happen. I've enjoyed the cardamom oat milk latte on both of my visits. It's just a comforting thing for a cold morning. I'm usually not one to repeat an order but this one is worth it. I can honestly say, my first review was honest (possibly to a fault) but that's the beauty of a review. You get exactly what one is feeling in that actual moment. So fast forward to two years later... we're officially PNW'ers. We may not be here for a long time, but we're here for a good time. The Bloody Maria is perfect, they make a killer roast beef sandwich, the Quiche actually looks and tastes like quiche and my very picky world-traveled sister, scarfed up the New England Clam Chowder. This was a super cute breakfast/brunch spot. Go early- I hear their pastries sell out quick. My friend and I ordered basic breakfasts and they did not dissapoint- we were super satisfied with out meal. I also loved their hatch chile hot sauce which I promptly made an order for online. I've eaten here several times for brunch or lunch over the years, and I've consistently had a mediocre experience, to the point that I'm prepared not to return. The pros: nice atmosphere and location, tasty baked goods, and fairly reasonable prices. The cons: service is extremely slow and inattentive, food is just ok. One time I came for lunch by myself on a random weekday, and they sat me at a stool by the window--fine. I waited for literally 15 minutes, and no one came to bring me water, let alone take my order. I had to walk over to a random staff member and ask to be served. Even after that, I was very neglected the whole time, and my order took forever to come out. The server ultimately gave me a free baked good because she felt bad, which was nice, but it was too little too late. I came back again recently after a long hiatus because a friend invited me to go there for lunch (again on a random weekday). I was hoping for a better experience, but sadly it wasn't much different. There were two different servers coming to our table, so it seemed disorganized, and yet neither of them managed to refill my water until it was bone dry. Then I was told that the sandwich I ordered from the menu was no longer available and that they just hadn't updated the menus yet--lame. I ordered a different one, and it was good, but the side salad it came with was dry and flavorless. I ordered a cookie on my way out, and it was actually quite good. Overall, I'd say there are much more reliable brunch/lunch options in the immediate area, so I don't understand why this place is so popular. They really need to work on their service. read more

Stopped by for a Saturday breakfast and managed to beat the brunch rush. They were short a server, but only a 10 or so minute wait. Our server was very nice and friendly, made sure to check on us a couple of times throughout our meal. My wife had gotten the vegan biscuits and gravy while I ordered the regular. The kitchen did send out two vegan ones initially, but they quickly corrected it once I pointed out what had happened. I did have a bit of a longer wait for my meal because of that, but human error exists and it was honestly so delicious I completely forgot all about it. Even with them being a person down, they managed to keep a busy morning flowing pretty well it seemed. It was definitely loud and energetic inside. Arriving at Bleu Door Bakery on Main Street in Vancouver, Washington State, around 10:27 a.m. on Thursday 19 October 2023, I found a quiet outdoor dining area and warm interior. The offerings were varied with mostly sweet items on display. Looking them over, I decided to go with a Fig Frangipane Tart. I loved figs growing up, however they were not always the easiest to acquire. For me, on appearance alone, the tart was worth the $7.00 pre-tax and pre-tip price tag. The worker who helped me with my order and payment was kind. Outdoor seating was under an awning and the tables were across from the door with the sidewalk between the tables and the entrance/exit open. I took a table closer to one end of the outdoor space, the side ever so slightly downslope, and had a small bird - a sparrow perhaps - visit me while I ate the tart. The crust of the tart was firm and crumbly and the interior textually smooth, somewhere between butter soaked crumbs and a soft cheese. The figs were ripe and flavorful and almond slices not too crunchy. A dollop of jam/jelly atop the tart surprised me in not overpowering the flavors of the rest of the item. I first learned about Bleu Door when co-workers would bring some of their delicious baked goods to the office for everyone. BUT, I foolishly forgot about it and never went to their restaurant for brunch. I have now visited them a couple times for brunch and it is hands down the best brunch in Vancouver IMHO. I think it's better than most of the crowded brunch spots in Portland, too. Plenty of nearby street parking. Both times I was about to find a metered spot within a block. They have an outdoor window for "express" breakfast. My first visit, it was a longer wait +30 minutes, so I grabbed a treat at the express window while waiting. One of the triple chocolate toffee cookies. Delicious. And yeah, a cookie before breakfast, so don't judge. Decor includes chandelier lighting, little fresh flowers on the tables and painted countryside murals on the wall. Service was fantastic on both of my visits and server made good recommendations. Starter must- Beignets. These come out hot and perfect. Lavender latte is very good while the bleu door latte is a tad too sweet for me. They have mimosas and other alcoholic refreshments, but I haven't tried. On my first visit I had the special Chorizo Hash. Thought I wasn't hungry and ate the whole thing. Second visit I had the special Quiche. Again, I ate it all. I look forward to visiting again. read more

Love this local spot! We were visiting from out of state and wanted to pick up early morning breakfast before starting our day. Found this awesome spot-on Yelp with good reviews. Decided to step in and take a peek. Love how they have a full seating area as well as a pickup and to go option. Our first time around, we just picked up a two pastry and lavender latte. Enjoyed our morning outside in their patio area. White Forest cake and Raspberry Coffee Cake were our options (forgot to take some pics). Both options were delicious. Services wise, you have to be mindful that there is a labor shortage due to obvious reasons. Sit-down service seems to be a bit slower, but we didn't experience that until our second visit. While I had the traditional breakfast, wife got the Shrimp and Gritt. She loved it! They were training a staff during our 2nd visit, and she was super nice. Hadn't been here for a few years but glad I came back. Stopped in for breakfast on a very busy Saturday! Despite how busy they were service was great, attentive and also thorough. I ordered the mushroom gravy on top of the regular biscuits & gravy (I wanted the bacon cheddar biscuit but with mushrooms) - it was sooo good. The servings are large so I ended up splitting it to take home (and had a great breakfast the next day). We did take home their s'mores chocolate cake and it was pretty underwhelming. People have been raving about Bleu Door Bakery for years. I finally tried it. Unfortunately we weren't particularly impressed. I had the Breakfast Sandwich and my partner had the Classic Breakfast. It was ok, but certainly wasn't anything great. The croissant on the Classic B was not crispy and was a bit stale. There was no jam or even butter offered with the croissant. We asked for soft scrambled eggs and they weren't soft at all. The potatoes were ok, nicely crisped though. We were not impressed with the service either. We had to ask for ketchup and water. This is a cute venue with beautiful desserts in the cold case up front. I might get a dessert here sometime but I won't be back for breakfast. Update: I wrote this review as I was waiting for my companion to finish eating. As I left, Bonnie, the owner stopped me and asked if I had just written this review. She was apologetic about the eggs and told me if we had asked they would have remade them. She said they had just changed procedures and more training was necessary. She was very nice to talk to and sent me home with a peanut butter cookie, which was delicious. I appreciated her speaking with me. I'm going to upgrade my 2 stars to 4 because of this. read more

My bf's work place ordered lunch from here & he couldn't wait to go back. Such a good find, we placed our order online on our way there, so it'd be ready when we got there. Side note, around the corner is their express window where you pick up your orders, don't go inside. We went inside & the person working was nice enough to give us our order, but advised that next time we'd need to go to the window. We got the BLTA & reuben sandwiches & the beignets with lemon curd. The sandwiches had very generous amounts of filling. Bread was nice & crisp even once we got home. Also, before you throw away your container, peak under the paper there's a cookie. Definitely a nice surprise. The beignets were really good, a little different from ones I've had in New Orleans, but I still liked them.
