Philly cheese steak omelette with good hash browns and sourdough toast...coffee.

My wife and I were told that Breakfast At Valerie's was a "Local Hidden Gem"....the gentleman was 100% correct! Attentive service, space between tables, great coffee and the food...TOP NOTCH!!!!! Here's what you don't find these days...a 4 egg omelette. I had the Philly cheese omelette...Excellent! Will return...

I've been to Valerie's for breakfast many times, and it is always an enjoyable experience! It has a lively, bustling atmosphere and the service is consistently really solid. I also love checking out the cool, ever-changing artwork displayed on the walls. This place is always busy, so it definitely pays to get there a little early! I rarely have to wait, but that's because I tend to be one of the early birds. My one major gripe or criticism is that at some point, they changed their "choose your own breakfast" options, and I was really disappointed that they removed some items--specifically, the Chicken Fried Steak. That was a tough loss! Overall, this is a solid breakfast spot that I would recommend anyone check out. Just keep in mind that it's a loud atmosphere, full of busy people talking. For me, that's actually a huge plus, especially when dining with kids; since it's already so noisy, their chatter won't be an issue!

Got the country fried steak skillet, it came out in a bowl on a plate. (Not a skillet) You can tell something's changed about this place. Customer service was ok, could've been better. It's just not family friendly as it once was. They were playing Dj Khalid I'm not trying to listen to nostalgic music some classical music would've been fine.

My family frequents Val's often. We all enjoyed our food, from the lemon raspberry French toast to the country fried steak and thick bacon! The lady that served us was super sweet and made sure we had everything needed. It's a mom and pop diner vibe. I had half my country fried steak the next day which was perfect for my hangover

My cousin wanted cheap breakfast close to the airport, this popped up. Here was our experience. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking. We didn't really have any issues. Seating: Room for about 100 people. Great for groups! Vibes: It's not in Downtown Portland, across the bridge and closer to the airport. The spot itself is relatively simple with decorations of island culture here and there. You're greeted by a busy staff member and the sounds of numerous chatter from customers. Great place for individuals or groups especially if you want a classic breakfast with some nice local variations (like the biscuits and gravy I got)! FOOD: Biscuits and Sausage Gravy (Recommend) I had a small order but it was pretty fulfilling. Sunnyside-up eggs and a request for sausage made it a bit more hearty and comforting. Add some hot sauce and you're good to go! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly people and quick service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Nothing too flashy, just good old comfort breakfast, reasonable prices, and pleasant experiences. This seemed to be loved by locals so be sure to come early if you want to eat in a timely manner. TIPS: * Check out their holiday buffets!

Pork carnitas hash, eggs and potatoes.

Great food and service. A lot of food for the price. Cozy area with plenty of parking.

Let me just say this place was very busy but they still had some seats for us! The service was good, servers were all friendly! The food was also very good I wish I lived closer to come here for breakfast. I liked the country fried steak I got and it was super tender and filling with the gravy that had actual sausage pieces in it! Overall I liked the food and service. The location where it's at is really good and the inside is spacious!

I hadn't been here for a couple years and my last review was less than stellar. I decided to give them another try and glad I did. The staff was much friendlier and more attentive this time. The food came quickly and was good. Solid basic breakfast food. One drawback for me is the very open concept. Very loud and not a ton of privacy or an intimate feel while dining. But glad I gave them another chance and won't be totally avoiding this place like I did before. Give them a try!

Love this place! "Greasy spoon" (without being too greasy) feel with fresh ingredients & a seasonal menu. Worth the wait on a weekend!

This place used to be decent. Not anymore. The food is ok at best and the service is terrible. Go to The Diner instead.

We had a great waitress, but the food was bland. I actually had a piece of hair inside the omelet. We will not return. So bummed.

I don't hand out lower reviews without much pause and consideration. We stopped in here a few weeks ago for the first time for a Sunday morning breakfast. We all know my #1 favorite meal of the week is my Sunday brunch. I need eggs cooked correctly, food served hot, good coffee, and at minimum - a smile. We walked in and met with a look of disgust. I was actually uncomfortable at how unwelcome we felt. We were nearly shooed away into an uncomfortable booth and provided with sticky and dirty menus. We very obviously inconveniencing the waitress when we asked for coffees and water. Ice-less water arrived with lukewarm coffee. He ordered an omelette. I ordered a standard breakfast with ham. The one-star review was redeemed with the fact they did cook my eggs correctly. The rest was just rubbish. The hash browns were cold and mushy. The ham was tough and served cold. The "toast" seemed to lack being toasted... odd. He took about 6 bites of his omelette and put down his fork. We both declined a box to take home the leftovers. Ridiculously overpriced but they were sure happy to point out where and how to tip for their three visits to our table. This is a hard no. We won't be back. It was disappointing enough that it isn't worth trying a second time to see if it gets better. It's hrad to fail at breakfast but they have mastered the art.

However, the food themes are fantastic and worth the money in portion sizes. I love that they make bread fresh in house. Not sure what else is made fresh but I had a B.U.M.B Ruben burger. It was massive and not sloppy from sauces. A little salt and the plate was finished. We also ordered French toast with strawberries. The strawberries were meshy and not able to be consumed. They did not appear to be fresh. The water glasses are plastic and extremely worn. Almost dirty looking. Some upgrades needed here for sure.

My hubby had the chicken fried steak with perfect gravy. The staff works in a collaborative effort to make sure that everyone has their drinks refilled promptly and their order is delivered. As soon as they are completed in the kitchen it is a mastery symphony of service to observe . the entire building is layered with so much vintage art from the 1950s era. There's always something amazing to look at and even though I've been here many times every seat has a different view. It's really a fun place to be easy access off 164th St. Vancouver Washington. If you haven't been here yet, what on earth are you waiting for? Make it a stop for dinner breakfast or lunch everything there is yummy today was St. Patrick's Day so of course they had traditional corn, beef and cabbage. Dinner. Option for 12 bucks. However, it seems like lately the quality of the food and the service have suffered after they raised their prices. Foodwise, just within this month, I had to return a Chicken Fried Steak that was like a shoe sole. Looks like it had been sitting there for quite some time. They did replace it with a fresh one which was good. Recently though, I ordered some Halibut Fish & Chips. Again, they were overcooked, burnt, and barely edible. Service wise, I counted 9 staff memembers congregated around the cash register just joking around and not paying attention to customers. On some nights, they start stacking the chairs on the stand alone tables, way before closing time. Nothing is more unwelcoming than that. What has happened to the diner? Have they changed ownership or something? It's sad, but customers will quickly tire of the declining food and service. There are however, some of the oldest wait staff that I have to commend for their service.
