Among croissant

Whether it's for a quick lunch or a chill place to get some work or study done, this is the place I would go! My friend and I came for lunch on a Thursday around 12:15p. Upon entry, there was a long line, however, it moved very quickly. Despite the long line, it was not crowded once everyone sat down. I got the Chicken Caprese Panini and a cup of tomato soup which came out quickly and warm. This was definitely my comfort food on a cold, rainy Seattle day. I got the almond croissant to go for breakfast tomorrow. The best part of this place? They have a private parking lot. Even if the parking lot is full, it is pretty easy to park in the neighborhood and walk over. Highly recommend!

Italian soda

The baguette was really tasty as was the vegan cookie. The Italian soda was also great. The staff were friendly and very speedy! It was pretty busy for a weekday afternoon inside. I think it's also important to note that their outside seating is dog friendly, but not their inside. It is pretty cozy for meeting with a friend or perhaps getting a little work done, though there aren't too many plug in spots if you need that. Would definitely come back!

Bagels (10/2/23)

Grateful Bread is totally OG Seattle, like that well worn, familiar, cozy sweater. Again, I was surprised I had not reviewed this spot until now. I stopped by on a rainy day (10/2/23), but had been visiting off and on since the early 1990s when I moved to Ravenna from Queen Anne. It was also a popular spot visiting from Shoreline when The Homie was still a toddler/preschooler. He enjoyed the grilled cheese or pb&j on their homemade bread. This is a totally old school bakery and cafe. But it has staying power because it is a welcoming, generous gathering spot in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. It held its own and able to co-exist with a Top Pot doughnut shop across the street. I decided to hangout onsite to enjoy a hot mocha and a pain au chocolat. There was a constant line of customers and most of the tables were occupied the entire time I was there. A pleasant serene vibe and devoid of any hipster attitude. A major plus!

Easy parking and plenty of space for seating. I came here on a Wednesday morning and loved the cozy vibe of this cafe. The food was delicious and at a good price. The staff was friendly and helpful and gave me good tips on what to order. Will be back soon

Coffee, a quiche and a croissant

We came in as a party of 2 on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. We love their location and it was so easy to park here! It was easy to find seating despite the morning rush. We enjoyed a chocolate croissant, coffee and a slice of their smoked salmon quiche. So. Good. Their pastries both sweet and savory are delectable. I can't wait to come back!

06.10.22 - Egg & Cheese With Sausage

Grateful Bread is a small bakery and cafe with some great options. We bought several different items ranging from both savory and sweet. The sausage and egg bagel sandwich tasted just like Einsteins, which I am a huge fan of. All of the sweets were fresh and great sizes. The cinnamon roll was delicious! They also sell bags of assorted day-old bagels at just $5, which we scarfed up for breakfast the next morning. PSA, they're just as good a few days later.

Cherry Danish and snickerdoodle

Great location and pretty clean place. The cherry danish was excellent. We ordered to go but it was pretty crowded. Coffee was hot and good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This understated place is one of the best bakeries in Seattle! Try the almond croissant or the banana bread. Great coffee too!

They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.

They have so much outdoor seating, on both sides of the cafe, which I really like. Way more than downtown. Food came out super quick too. My go to order has always been the Mr Breakfast plate, it's super hearty and full of great breakfast foods. However, the price has increased exponentially and quality has definitely gone down. I used to pay around $15 for this plate and it included bacon and now it's $17 + an extra $4 to add 2 pieces of bacon. (The bacon is totally worth it though). The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. That was the only thing that remained on my plate when I was done! and the soft boiled egg tasted a little off to me, like it had been sitting for a bit long. Other than that, the Turkish eggs and chopped chicken salad were very fresh and good. Staff were super nice when ordering at the counter, coffees and pastries were good as well. Overall I will come back here, just would like to see some quality changes with the Mr Breakfast as it used to be very good.

I have to say what I saw looked tasty. I would happily return.

It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. Thanks to fellow Yelp Elite All Star, Will L for a compelling post. This was a pleasant detour for lunch.

A friend of mine invited me for lunch, and we popped by there around noon. It wasn't too crowded, with ample seating, even for a place that's pretty small. All the pastries except for the regular butter croissant were available, and we were able to place an order for the kimchi focaccia and sakura swiss roll, which were slated to come out around 10am. Service was super friendly! I got the hojicha latte, the okonomiyaki frittata, black sesame cookie, kimchi focaccia, and sakura swiss roll. The hojicha latte was rich and earthy in the best way, and it went really well with the black sesame cookie, which had a great strong sesame flavor, and the texture was perfectly chewy! The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad! I thought the sauces overpowered it a bit, and the frittata itself was a bit bland - I couldn't even tell it had sweet potato in it, but it was cooked really well. There was ample seating in the heated patio, but parking was a little confusing, though we got lucky with the small lot right next to the store. There were a lot of signs that said no parking along the street in front, but it seemed like a lot of cars were parked there?

I don't know if they rotate their pastries or if they just sold out of everything but only items on display case were the chocolate cookie, sesame cookie, the sakura chiffon roll, savory focaccia, apple cake and maybe one other item. I really was looking forward to trying a cardamom croissant or bun but they didn't have either available. My iced latte was alright. Nothing to go crazy over. The cherry foam for an additional $2.00 was very pretty but that's where it stopped at. Absolutely no cherry or sakura flavor. Disappointed. The sesame cookie had a great smell to it. The aroma of sesame was strong. The cookie had a nice crisp to the edge and a chewy center. The sesame taste wasn't as strong as the smell. The spicy chicken sandwich on special was not spicy at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet from the orange glaze/sauce on the kitchen. It was a decent sandwich and I definitely finished it. Just not something I would gravitate back to. I understand the reviews about how this place doesn't live up to some extra hype. It's decent, solid and a great option for the area but to go out of your way for and wait thirty minutes in line? Not really.
