This is my absolute favorite spot for coffee and a quiet conversation with a friend. It is cozy and quiet, with great music playing in the background. My uncle and I have monthly lunch dates and always come here afterwards for a warm drink and dessert (they have some delicious gluten free options!). But my most favorite thing to do is to play Scrabble here with my bestie (we bring our own game). Yesterday we were made welcome for the duration of our game while I enjoyed a delicious soy latte and a scrumptious gluten free, vegan, chocolate, chocolate chip cookie. Heaven! I've been looking forward to coming to Blue Saucer for years. I finally had a chance today and was really underwhelmed. I paid seven dollars for a coffee and a stale bagel (a dollar for a cream cheese pack?). One of the baristas immediately went on her phone after serving me and my bagel sat in the toaster ignored. The ambience is great, and outdoor seating was really pleasant. I'm hoping this just was an off day, but don't think I'll be back. read more

Stopped by for breakfast and ordered a BLTA, when I asked if it had a side or chips or anything the person taking the order said,"no we're a coffee shop". I asked if they had orange juice because I didn't see it on the menu and they said yes it's in the case back there. I looked at the case and was just trying to look at what kind of orange juice it was and they said "I can get it you". (In an annoying tone). So I ordered and then paid which required the tip to go with the payment, while I would have preferred to tip at the end based on the overall experience, so I tipped 18% even though I didn't feel good about it thus far. Then when leaving, I asked if they recycled they (the taller person in all instances) said yes and that I could set it there so I did, at which point they grabbed it and threw it in the trash. read more

This is everything I want in a coffee shop. There's outdoor seating with umbrellas; the feeling inside is cozy. The barista (maybe owner) was an older woman who radiated sunshine. We told her it was our first time and she recommended the Chaga Frappe. Chaga is a mushroom superfood and their blend has hints of cinnamon and cacao. The frappe itself is a perfect frappe texture. The aftertaste is slightly earthy but overall a calm sweetness that even my husband (who doesn't care for sweets) thought it was better than his drink. This cafe has been sold a couple times. The new owner has made many improvements and returned the menu to the basics: quality over quantity. The focus is now on good service, good coffee, and an uncomplicated menu serving up select items that are mostly made in house. I would like to see a few vegetarian options added. The indoor dining area is cozy and intimate. There's also outdoor seating for sun lovers (when there is sun!). If you haven't been here in awhile, come back and try it again. P.S. Cute little cafe in Seattle! Exterior may not compare to higher end places BUT the food quality is comparable. I came here on a Sunday morning (today), and it was not too busy at 9am! We ordered a 8oz apple cider, lemon flavored cinnamon roll thing (to-go), and a breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was AMAZING. You get to pick what you want from what type of bread like croissant, bagel, or gluten free bread. Then you get pick egg or no egg, spinach or no spinach, and whatever sauce you like. Don't forget what type what kind of meat and cheese you want. Keep in mind you can opt in or out but I got a croissant with ham, egg, spinach, pepper jack, and pesto sauce. The combination was delicious and for a price of $7.50, it was great! Ham was not just from a grocery store, egg was perfectly cooked, pepper jack was melted along with a flavorful pesto sauce. I have to admit that the pesto sauce was different than an other pesto sauces I've tried but it was mixed in with mayo which wasn't too bad! All this with two pieces of watermelon! Love it! Apple cider was standard which is nice to go with the breakfast sandwich. I also got a cinnamon roll shape thing but it was not a cinnamon roll. It tasted like a lemon cake which was upsetting. The bread was cold, high in sugar, and just not good. It was cheap for $1.50 but I think I just wasted my calorie intake on this! Not good. Upon ordering, I saw someone from this place yelling at their coworker for taking a order and not realizing that a circuit blew. While I was also on a time crunch since I had to go to the airport, I felt a tad bad for the person working in the front and getting yelled at 9 in the morning. Having worked with such coworkers myself, I totally feel for the people in her position thus minus 1 star for not only the to-go pastry but poor team communication at this establishment. Wished the girl didn't get yelled at for a small problem! :( TLDR; Breakfast sandwiches are the best here. You won't regret it!!!!! This place is awesome, especially if you like a nice casual place to relax and enjoy a coffee. It's quiet with light music that isn't too loud or soft. There's plenty of seats inside and out but is quite small. The Mexican mocha is delicious, this is the second place in Seattle that I've had one so amazing. Definitely returning. I love that they have parking. I also ordered the Reuben which was absolutely delicious, although one of my slices of bread was an end piece, so I feel slightly betrayed. I also betrayed myself because I thought the menu said "includes fries" but actually says "includes fruit".... so, yeah... that was a let down. Probably need more healthy food in my life and the watermelon was actually really good. Will definitely return, I recommend serving fries, but I'll take the fruit next time if not. I've only come here for coffee previously, but came by Saturday morning while walking the dogs and decided to grab a breakfast sandwich. (Dogs are allowed outside on the patio) Their breakfast sandwich is a bit confusing to order (they have a menu posted on the chalkboards inside which doesn't mention a breakfast sandwich, but they have a paper print out menu with a breakfast sandwich option that I unfortunately didn't get a photo of). It says they have a veggie breakfast sandwich, and a normal breakfast sandwich, with a number of add ons. We tried to just order a "veggie sandwich" but I think basically you just custom order your own sandwich. We ordered a breakfast sandwich on an English Muffin, with bacon, cheddar, no mayo, and peppers. The sandwich we received did not have peppers, and had huge globs of mayo on it, but was otherwise tasty and the bacon added a nice crisp. I'll have to come back here and try more things. read more

I was lucky enough to found this neighborhood gem while searching for a quick breakfast place and I was very pleased with Blue Saucer Cafe's version of the veggie breakfast sandwich. The veggie breakfast sandwich comes on a toasted English muffin with mozzarella cheese, pesto, egg, tomato, and a vegetarian sausage patty that tastes so delicious! The pesto had a savory sweet feel that had me craving for more. The portion is quite filling and I think the price is also appropriate at $6.95. The cafe interior is also very quaint and cozy. There is also plenty of outdoor seating that includes room for the fur animals too. I did also order an iced matcha green tea latte for $4.95 which was less than memorable. I'll probably just stick to Starbucks for that from now on. Otherwise, support your local eateries and grab a bite! I hate to give such reviews (particularly for a coffee shop in my neighborhood that I used to frequent) but I feel the need to make sure the owner knows about the absolutely disappointing experience I had this weekend. My boyfriend and I stopped by to grab coffees and a cookie. Kaya (who tried to tell us her name is Kay but her coworker gave us her correct name) was so rude it was appalling. After asking her for a fresh cup of coffee (since we had to wait for a new batch to be brewed anyway to complete our order), she scoffed at me and proceed to literally throw the coffee in the sink. When I confronted her about it, she lied about her name and her coworker told us that we could leave if we didn't like her attitude. Seriously. What?! I always love coming by Blue Saucer! Their Chai is phenomenal, and you can tell that they put all the effort and love they have into making sure that what they serve is the best they can offer. (Try a pump of cardamom with your Chai, it's worth it!) The service is incredible, and you can tell that there's a level of attention to detail that other coffee shops often lack. The new owner is working very hard, and listens carefully to any feedback she gets. Everyone there is also very attentive to Covid safety, and are really good about having a large outdoor space where you can wait without being anywhere near anybody else. Blue Saucer is the one place we've consistently gone to, even throughout this pandemic, because we can trust them and their quality of food and drink. The people working there are sweet, good to talk to, and easy to consider friends even if you're just a sometimes-regular like I am. I can't recommend this place enough! *Before you read* There've clearly been management changes which have been ongoing for years that affect these reviews. The most recent changes seem to be fairly drastic; e.g. the restaurant no longer serves any bagel sandwiches, no egg, etc., so previous reviews are, IMHO, fairly unrepresentative. I address the most recent changes & those over the past 5 years. I write this review, sadly, as a Maple Leaf resident of 7 years. We've watched the slow and steady decline of this restaurant over the years in rather painstaking agony (a bit melodramatic, but it really has been quite sad). When we first moved in to the Maple Leaf neighborhood, this was our go-to spot for tea, coffee, and most important breakfast sandwiches. The bagels were amazing, and the bagel sandwiches that much more, with fresh ingredients (avocado, tomato) and incredibly tasty sauces (mayonnaises and pestos) to complement. Toasted to perfection. And then the management changes. I have no idea how many such changes there were, but they seemed plenty from casual conversations. Suddenly I'd show up at 11am and sandwiches were crossed off the list as unavailable. 'Why?' I'd ask, only to be told that one or two ingredients were missing. They were out of avocados or tomatoes, for example. Seemed like an easy enough problem to fix, and I'd stressed how important it was to the manager that they provide the proper amount of ingredients (which the workers at the shop completely agreed with and sympathized with, often saying things like 'you don't understand how bad it feels to turn away a customer just b/c our management didn't buy enough avocados'). But a year went by, and I'd run into the same issue over and over again. Perhaps even two years. And during this time, compared to when we first moved into the neighborhood, there were inane time restrictions placed on sandwiches. One was available from 7am to 12pm and another one from 7am to 3pm and another one from 12pm to 3pm and another one from... these aren't exact figures, but you get the idea. It was impossible for any customer to keep track of what was available when, begging the question: what business owner in their right mind would set up a business in this manner? To what end? It's impossible not only for customers to keep track of this, but also confusing for employees to keep track -- indeed, employees mentioned to me how difficult it was to keep these things straight in their own heads and how, worse still, it was when compounded on top of the issue of missing ingredients! Employees would ask me to call the owners to complain! I work in the tech industry and have a Ph.D in biophysics, and I don't blame them. The last straw, though, was today, when I learned that this restaurant no longer serves any bagel sandwiches - literally the best thing this place ever made, with the most fresh bagels we'd ever tasted since the east coast (we're transplants) - and no longer serves any egg. It gets worse - I ordered a *hot* turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich, and they only really serve sandwiches on croissants these days. I got it for take-out. I go to pick it up & it's just a saran-wrapped croissant with, yes, some sad left over bits of turkey and bacon (not any nice continuous slices), some sparse pieces of old brown avocado, and some lettuce. That's it. Not heated up, no cheese, no sauces, no mayo, just a dry bunch of a few turkey scraps, bacon scraps, old avocado slices, and some lettuce tossed in between some not-so-buttery crossaint halves. For $11. Your mouth went dry with the first bite. I had to toast it myself and add cheese, tomato, mayonnaise, home-made pesto, banana peppers, and some other ingredients to make it edible. And even then... the croissant itself was dry and not-buttery or fluffy or anything. I thought back to the incredibly juicy bagel sandwiches I'd had here I think maybe just 2 or fewer years ago, with that incredible pesto mayo and the perfectly toasted, not too bready bagels, while biting into one of the worst croissants I've ever had and recollecting the commentary from the current manager about 'no egg and no bagel' and, well, I was prompted to write this review in case it helps others who have similar expectations to what we have of what this place used to be. And in hopes that perhaps this could one day be restored to even an iota of the place it once used to be. As it is, if I wanted cold stale sandwiches wrapped in plastic, I'd get them for half the price at a grocery store. I've been meaning to write reviews documenting the steady decline every year since 2016, but today's 'canned sandwich in saran wrap' that was actually worse than any such sandwich I've ever bought (save for perhaps when I was in grad school?) really prompted me to write a very honest review. I don't wish to be rude, but this place is truly unacceptable not just next to what it was, but next to any restaurant held to any sort of culinary standard other than 'gas station grab-and-go'. read more

I have been here several times as I live in the neighborhood. The food is good. They have a lot of options for breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. However, the drinks are pretty inconsistent. One time I got a mocha but I couldn't finish it because it was pretty bad. I have since returned (trying to support and like the cafe) but have been disappointed. A couple times I stuck to plain tea because I was afraid of wasting my money on an OK or bad latte. I also have gone to the cafe to study. I found it to be pretty loud, distracting, and on multiple occasions I smelt a burnt smell the whole time I was there. read more

I came in with my fiancé on a weekend morning, and was craving some breakfast sandwiches. Blue Saucer has order forms at the register to customize your own sandwiches, and even has you pick up your bagel from the selection sitting at the registry, and hand it over to the cashier. I got a sesame bagel with bacon, spinach, honey mustard, an egg, and cheddar cheese. It was slightly small for the price paid,but delicious nonetheless. We asked about the cider that was on the menu if it was local since it's fall and we're interested if its made fresh. Cashier didn't know so when she asked the cooks in the back, he muttered under his breath and couldn't even give a solid answer. He looked annoyed that we asked him...sorry if I'm actually interested if your products are made fresh! Then it took close to 20 minutes to get a sandwich made with: egg, bacon, and avocado on English muffin...c'mon, it's not that difficult to make it wasn't that busy. Lastly, they forgot to put the guacamole that we paid for. I walked up and was going to complain, yet the cook new he forgot it, put it on the sandwich but didn't acknowledge that he made an error or apologize. Frankly, the customer service can do much better if this place is supposed to give a community vibe and also I shouldn't hold the cooks accountable to making meals efficiently and correctly. read more

I just wanted to let her know how the TBL is. I got a rolling eye reaction from the server. Could not even have a fake apologize from her which I thought it should be the minimum customer service.
