I found this gem when I was searching for a cafe near where I live. Lo and behold this cafe was within a very short walking distance! Gave it a shot and I love this place! Don't be fooled by the outdated pictures on here, it's a clean and cozy place with great coffee! The people are very kind and the pastries are quite good as well! There are tables for those who want to study and also couches for people who want to relax and chat. Also to note, there is a kids room so they can play there without disturbing the other guests. This cafe is connected to the church building so you might miss it, but because of that, you get tons of parking which is always a great plus! read more

Let's get this out of the way: I'm not religious, so I was a little put off at first that this coffee shop is essentially in the exterior wing of a church...BUT it's actually pleasant, unassuming, and religion-neutral! Very quiet, if I were a student I would enjoy studying here, as it's nestled literally in a neighborhood. Didn't feel awkward or judgemental at all surprisingly. Also, lots of parking! I'm so bummed. This place was a neighborhood go-to for me and my son to meet up with other neighborhood friends on the weekend. They closed for a month to remodel and the place has now gone from being super cozy and inviting to institutional and cold. There is nothing inviting about it anymore. The one thing they should have redone was replacing the carpet in the play room. It was gross before and now feels even worse with bright white walls. I watched peoples' faces as they walked in last weekend and could see hey were feeling the same way. Bummer but we won't be hanging there anymore. read more

I will certainly say that this is not your average coffee house. For good or bad, in Seattle if you close your eyes and take 10 steps you will end up running into a coffee shop. I know you are saying thinking how could any coffee shop in Seattle be different than the thousands of other shops out there. Ok let me list of just a few of the ways: First of all this coffee shop is not only in a neighborhood but it's actually attached to a church. That may turn some people off but it has no impact on the shop itself. The shop doesn't seem to have any affiliation with the church beyond the location. However when you pull up see, this church and then see this coffee house at its base, you can't help but think "Hmm this is an interesting concept". Secondly they have this great combination of tables (for working), couches (for relaxing, reading, chatting) and the real gem is a separate kids play area in the back that has its own door. So now if parents want to bring their kids to the shop and the kids need to burn off some energy, the other people in the coffee shop aren't bothered. Thirdly there is this real community feel to it. I mean not like Capitol Hill or GreenLake where the people working there just say hi because they have seen you in the store a few times. In this shop the staff is generally friendly. They say hi, ask questions about you, talk to people who walk in, and even joke around with the kids. This genuine friendliness, like you would get in the South or Midwest, is a breath of fresh air. Finally the coffee shop itself is a nonprofit. So any money that the shop makes goes back into making the shop sustainable. That means that it is creating jobs for the people who work there, giving customers a needed service and trying to eliminate any negative impact on the planet. That gets a big thumbs up from me. Add to all this the fact that they have plenty of parking, some outdoor seating, reasonable prices and that the shop is relatively quiet and you get one of the few 5 star reviews that I have ever given to a Seattle coffee shop. This is the closest coffee shop to my house. It is the definition of a neighborhood coffee shop - a small joint hosted by the neighborhood church. There is a fair amount of "churchiness" scattered about (noticeable in the music choices, some of the artwork on the walls, and the notice board) but nothing too aggressive or out of place. There are no fake flowers in vases, bible verses printed on cardstock, or attempts to proselytize, which I appreciate. The decor is cozy and appropriate for a coffee shop. It's a nice place to study, or meet someone for a chat. The baristas are consistently friendly, and the coffee is consistently good. read more

One of my two go-to coffee places when visiting north Seattle. The coffee is great and the staff are super nice. It's not immediately obvious that there's a coffee shop there, as it's attached to a church. And although there appears to be some affiliation with the church, it is run as it's own entity (I.e. there is no pushy recruitment whatsoever for those who would find that unwelcome). They have a small selection of food options, mainly croissants & muffins, so not the place to go if you're looking for a 12 course banquet. This is a surprisingly nice little cafe in an unexpected spot. The decor isn't as designer-perfect as a Starbucks, but it has a similar earth-toned lounging-friendly feel. My latte was excellent (Stumptown! Somebody knows their coffee...) and service was friendly. There were a couple of baked goods available, but they didn't look too promising. The cafe is very spacious with a lot of seating and area to stand and order. It is not you average coffee shop in Seattle, it has more of a cozy feel and it not decorated as a commercial place would. I'm not a huge fan of the carpet, but the rest of the inside decor give a kind of living room feel. The staff seems genuinely nice and caring. They are very welcoming. The coffee is also made quite well. As a huge coffee lover, I feel like they steamed the milk really nicely so there was no microfoam nor did it taste burnt. My wife and I live in the neighborhood of Haller Lake and love taking a stroll around the walking loop of the lake. We discovered The Bridge after needing a coffee fix on our walk and boy were we glad we did. The location is hard to find as it is attached to the church, but it has a distinct coffeehouse feel when you walk in and is a great place to hang out and get some work done. Everyone that works there is polite and kind. They serve stump town coffee and I have had coffee at many places around the city and they rank at the top of the list for best baristas! What a fantastic little coffee shop! My friend recommended we head there today as we're both parents of young ones and they have a small dedicated play area. I was immediately impressed when walking in. The man who helped me was very nice, the place was so clean, and the food and drinks were awesome. I also actually really want to commend this place on being immaculately clean. My friend and I sat with our babies on the floor in the play area, and it was spick and span! No little dirty pieces here or there for our kiddos to pick up and eat. :) It's a little far from me as I live in Magnolia, but I'll definitely be returning. I've been here twice, and the coffee (first-tier espresso drinks, with rosettas and everything) and space are both great. It's an off-the-beaten path coffee shop, so it's often quiet and roomy. Note that it's in North Seattle Alliance Church. It was hard to find initially because I was expecting a standalone. The signage is pretty subtle. Also it's inexpensive, as it's run by the church and clearly not seen as a cash cow. The one reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the music. The first time I came in, it was piano solo Disney music (literally). The second time, it was still the piano solo stuff, but of the kind you'd find on an Andrea Bocelli album. That can be nice in its place, but for me is too schmaltzy for coffee shop atmosphere. So... great place with excellent coffee. Bring your headphones. read more

It's a nice little coffee shop. There's a room to study, tables for multiple people and even games to play. Although if you're looking a quite place to read/work, I'd suggest bringing headphones because it can get noisy fast with people in line or standing around on top of the background music. BUT, that's not often the case (which is unfortunate for their business). But other than the atmosphere, I really enjoy the coffee selection and the food selection is okay too. It's mainly focused on its Stumptown coffee so don't expect a vast food selection. But the employees are friendly and helpful. Coffee shop attached to and run by the church community. I'm not christian but was looking for a quiet place to work out of. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised at the simple decor and open space. If i didn't know any better, I would have had no idea this was attached to a church.
