The Turkey Firehouse Panini with a side of salad

I never thought of Van Gogh as being anything but a coffee house, but they actually have breakfast and lunch options! A friend of mine invited me for lunch, and we popped by there around noon. It wasn't too crowded, with ample seating, even for a place that's pretty small. The staff were very warm and friendly, and even joked with us a bit. Beyond the food, we had a good time hanging there. My friend suggested the vegan sandwiches, specifically the Turkey Firehouse. It was delicious! Van Gogh is now on the list of local lunch spots to hit!

A gem of a local coffee shop! Situated in a small strip mall in Wedgwood, you may almost miss it, tucked between the iconic Wedgwood Broiler and a hair salon. My husband and I decided to drop in after taking a morning stroll around the neighborhood. I got a hemp milk latte and my husband got the earl gray almond steamer, both were good. Both were served extra hot which was extra comforting on today's cool summer morning. The service was 5 stars. Warm, inviting and quick. The hubby and I will certainly be back. The sandwiches look delicious!

I came in for a cappuccino and admired their St. Patrick's Day decor! I am already a huge Van Gogh Coffee fan, and I love what they have done with the clovers and green everywhere. It is very well done :) excellent and fast service as usual.

Cute little finding on my way to Seattle! Beautiful café, friendly staff, and delicious fresh pastries. I had a seasonal special: Snicker Doodle latte, and a biscuit, it was so good. Warm and inviting place, I will come back without a doubt! Support local

Super cute and fun little coffee house on the east side of Seattle. The owner is super nice and the staff are really friendly. They have killer breakfast sandwiches and there coffee is bomb. There sandwiches are delightful. This is a really nice spot to stop before shopping at uvillage. They only have a few tables, but service is very fast. It can get a little loud, so I don't recommend this as a spot to study. Most of all, I really love all the artwork. I would love to buy a few pieces if they were they right colors. I really like this little spot! Definitely check it out.

The mocha was good! Cute little coffee shop. It was very calm inside and there's a few tables to sit and chat or get work done.

First thing to mention, kudos for their longevity. They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.

Definitely a hopping place at the end of the workday. It's got a darker ambiance and it's cozy. It has indoor, outdoor, and patio seating, though we chose to stay indoor. Pro tip - the poofs make you sit REALLY low. The food choices around 1pm were dismal, and limited. Maybe they'd sold out, or maybe they just don't have a lot there, but nothing even looked fresh enough to warrant purchase. The other thing that killed me was the service. There was one person on the entire 4 hours I was there, and it made for an incredibly slow experience. It was friendly enough, if not a little dismissive. Prices are reasonable and there is paid parking across the street, but take that with a "for Seattle" caveat.

The staff at the time were warm (Michael was the best), knew regulars by name, and made every visit feel special. The coffee was excellent and it felt like a true neighborhood gem. Over time, the people who made this place so memorable moved on, and with them went the quality and the warmth. I opted to support other local coffee shops instead. I returned recently to use a reward I had accumulated, excited to see how things had changed since my last visit. When I asked to check my rewards balance before ordering, I was told I could only do so after completing the transaction. Every other coffee shop I frequent allows this beforehand, so I pushed back to clarify. What followed was one of the most unwelcoming interactions I have experienced at any business. The staff member's tone was hostile and dismissive from the moment I asked a simple question, and it did not let up. I felt uncomfortable enough to cancel my order entirely. When I asked for a receipt to confirm my refund, she threw it away in front of me. A colleague had to ask her again on my behalf, and she snapped that she had already discarded it. Another customer standing nearby witnessed this exchange and looked visibly appalled. I reached out to the owner privately before leaving a public review, hoping to have a real conversation. She chose not to follow up with me about my experience. Instead, she wrote back to say she had already spoken with her staff and that a separate customer had contacted her to say I was the problem, and that her team had handled everything with grace. She closed by suggesting I had not met a basic standard of respect. I want to be clear: the customer she referenced appeared to be acquainted with the barista. I will leave readers to draw their own conclusions about whose account was actively sought out. I also want to note that I am not alone in this experience. Other reviewers here have flagged the same pattern of cold, unwelcoming service at this location. That tells me this is not an off day. It is worth reading those reviews before you visit. The refund for items that were never made has still not been processed, four days later, which caused me to have to reach out to an owner again. I have now been refunded. I share all of this because I think people deserve to know what to expect, both at the counter and if something goes wrong. This is not the place I once loved, and the ownership's response confirmed that.

In all seriousness, North Seattle has been lacking in the "cool cafe" department. You know, the one you go into and you feel like it's a place that you'd actually want to hang out. Not just grab a coffee and split. One that will put you in a position where you can't decide if it's time for a coffee or a beer. That's Pacha. The vibes are immaculate here, and every time I come there seems to be more and more energy. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and they had a huge projector playing a World Cup match. The local matcha drinkers were going wild as Egypt cruised along to a victory. My Americano was fantastic, which is table stakes for a Seattle cafe. But the folks taking the order and making the drinks were full of energy and cracking jokes, love to see people enjoying their work. The breakfast burrito was surprisingly good for a cafe, and came with a beautiful aioli. You could tell that they take their burrito-craft very seriously. A thoroughly grilled, well-tucked burrito was an excellent complement to my coffee.
