I had stopped by the Van Gogh Coffeehouse ages ago pre-Yelp and when I used to live in nearby Ravenna. I decided to stop in after two errands in between the heavy squalls (11/5/25). It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. I never thought of Van Gogh as being anything but a coffee house, but they actually have breakfast and lunch options! A friend of mine invited me for lunch, and we popped by there around noon. It wasn't too crowded, with ample seating, even for a place that's pretty small. The staff were very warm and friendly, and even joked with us a bit. Beyond the food, we had a good time hanging there. My friend suggested the vegan sandwiches, specifically the Turkey Firehouse. It was delicious! Van Gogh is now on the list of local lunch spots to hit! read more

A gem of a local coffee shop! Situated in a small strip mall in Wedgwood, you may almost miss it, tucked between the iconic Wedgwood Broiler and a hair salon. My husband and I decided to drop in after taking a morning stroll around the neighborhood. I got a hemp milk latte and my husband got the earl gray almond steamer, both were good. Both were served extra hot which was extra comforting on today's cool summer morning. The service was 5 stars. Warm, inviting and quick. The hubby and I will certainly be back. Nice neighborhood coffeehouse with strong coffee drinks and nice sandwiches. My cortado was perfect with a nice strong yet balanced touch. The pressed sandwiches are also good and the roast beef dip on a recent visit was delicious and served with your choice of potato salad or chips. Friendly service is an airy environment filled with Van Gogh prints, naturally. read more

We just moved to the neighborhood and had been here once before since it's my mom's favorite coffee place, but we've now been back several times! The coffee is quite good, and I also love their sandwiches. So sad to hear they're closing--this place will definitely be missed. read more

Grabbed a quick latte on my daily afternoon walk with my daughter. I would say, the vibe is very nice and the patrons very friendly (a nicely elderly gentlemen helped me open the door for the stroller). The food also looked very good, though I didn't get any. The latte, while fine, wasn't the best I've had. I suspect, though this place is a coffeehouse, it is not necessarily a specialty coffee shop like some other places. So I wouldn't expect the coffee itself to be top-notch. However, I am excited to come back some time to try the pastries and desserts! I will update and keep everyone posted! read more

I came in on a weekday hoping to have felt welcome in the cafe, but I was met with what I felt was discrimination. Granted, I came in as a single person with her laptop and using the outlet for not more than 15 minutes before having to be asked to move to a singular table. I spoke with the person that asked me to find another table and said I just needed to charge for a few minutes. The customers whom the barista was asking me to leave my table was okay with sitting at another table. 5 minutes later, the barista came back and said "okay, we really need this table now" as the older ladies next to her said "no, we can just sit outside!" and told me that I can stay at my seat. Anyway, I was annoyed that I was approached twice in the span of 5 minutes to move somewhere else. There was another table of 4 girls with their laptops who have been there longer than I have, but I was the only one they asked to move. Granted they were a party of 4 versus 1, but the sign did say to sit no longer than an hour between 12-2pm. I concluded because they were white, they weren't told they have been there a little too long and had to move so customers could have their lunch. Unfortunately, I felt racism in the atmosphere so I packed up my work stuff and left. I felt uncomfortable. read more

I just moved from Vegas and was looking for my spot. I love Van Gogh so the day I got a day off I was determined to check it out. The pieces of art they had were AMAZING and the vibes were immaculate. I had an Earl Grey Almond Steamer and breakfast sandwich with ham and OH MY GOD. Super cute and fun little coffee house on the east side of Seattle. The owner is super nice and the staff are really friendly. They have killer breakfast sandwiches and there coffee is bomb. There sandwiches are delightful. This is a really nice spot to stop before shopping at uvillage. They only have a few tables, but service is very fast. It can get a little loud, so I don't recommend this as a spot to study. Most of all, I really love all the artwork. I would love to buy a few pieces if they were they right colors. I love this place! Been coming here for months and they're always friendly, always making great coffee, and in such a sweet little spot. Decor and vibes are 10/10 with the subtle Van Gogh theme. A great spot to grab a bevy and chat with a friend, settle in and work for a bit, or pop by for a cup of joe--they do it all, and they do it well. By the way, the correct pronunciation is "Van GOCK", not "Van GO". In America, you might get away with Van Go. But it Europe, if you say it that way, you'll be labeled an uneducated Yank. If you could have chatted with Van Gogh, he would have preferred that you just call him Vincent, hence why he signed his paintings with his first name, because it drove him crazy to hear his surname mispronounced. And he already had some mental issues. (I have a complete book about Van Gogh, by the way). Just had the mocha train smoothie with quad shots. $7 coffee shake. Like no other in the world. A great pit stop during walks. Fast, friendly, and good service. The girls always take the time to say hi to my daughter. Be sure to ask for your drink a little hotter than normal if you don't like it to be a chuggable temperature when you first get it. I must say, this is quite a cute coffee little coffee shop. Tucked away in the small local businesses, make a stop by here if you're in the mood for coffee or something unique to drink. I tried the Earl Grey Almond Steamer and despite the odd pairing, this turned out to be a pretty tasty drink! Similarly to a London Fog, this drink has a slightly creamy and foamy texture to it. The aftertaste is a nice blend of almond and Earl grey and I would highly recommend people to try this. As for other options on the menu, this place does offer a small selection of breakfast / food items. Decor is very nice with the colorful paintings and there's a parking lot out front. This is my favorite little coffee house in Seattle! It has a cozy vibe and their coffee, lattes and food are always spot on. It has become the scale that we measure other coffee up to. The lattes are smooth, creamy and not overly sweet and just magical to get through the gray winters. All the yum and no pretentiousness. read more

This place is great! Always incredible service. My wife works next to them so I call ahead and pick up some food too surprise her for lunch. The food is delicious every time. My wife loves the tuna melt and I got the roast beef dip on sourdough and it was excellent. They had a potato soup last time for a soup of the day and I had to try it and it did not disappoint...so good. All the staff that is working there is great. Our favorite local coffee shop. The staff is so kind and they kept this place rolling during the pandemic, safely and seamlessly. Indoor and outdoor seating, great place to study or meet friends. So happy we have this little gem in Wedgwood. Coffee is delicious and my favorite sandwich is the firehouse turkey. The rueben is also great. Cafe Van Gogh was full this Saturday morning and I can definitely see why! The barista was cheerful and did a fabulous job making my Italian Soda and his Breve perfectly delicious. As you wait in line, you can also check out a big bulletin board advertising local businesses, news, and sometimes even rentals. (I love bulletin boards!) They also serve light breakfasts (parfait, breakfast sandwiches, bagels), lunch food (soup, sandwiches), and tasty little morsels (sweet breads, cookies, scones). We didn't get any of that, but it's always nice to have the option. So... basically... we were only there for enough time to get our drinks, but I definitely liked it a lot. read more
