There's a ton of workers around but they're busy doing things that other breweries have figured out how to manage. The setting was perfect on an unexpectedly warm March day, and drinking our beers outside overlooking the beautiful bay waters was a nice change (we had flown in from Maine). I especially enjoyed the undertow dark lager. Our favorite meal was the portobello mushroom sandwich - full of flavor. My seafood taco was meh - needed lots of spice and some slaw. The onion rings were fresh and hot, but the breading was so thick that they were not particularly delicious- my son said they were really onion hush puppies - just too heavy...onion rings should be very lightly breaded so that the onion is the star of the dish. Great place to hangout on a cold rainy day. There are good seating options outside under a large tent and several cubicles. We ended up sitting inside to enjoy the ambiance there. When we arrived we were treated to a few samples to narrow down our drinking choices. I appreciate that and the bar tender provided good advice on the selection. I stuck with Ride the Tide IPA, others had a milkshake, Fruit Peddler GF sour, with no complaints. They have a full food menu which is preferred over food truck scenarios. We shared crispy brussel sprouts then went on to have a fish and chips, classic burger, and portobello mushroom burger and garlic fries. All were good. I'd definitely get the fish and chips again, and the mushroom burger looked delicious with a legit amount of mozzarella cheese oozing out around the edges. It looked great, but I didn't taste it. I really want to like this place more than I do. The positives: it's close to the waterfront at Magnuson, so if you're boating or swimming, it's a convenient place to come to before or after. We, in particular, put our kayaks in at Matthews Beach (or elsewhere), and paddle to Magnuson, making it our midpoint. The place has great options for seating, both at tables or barrier seats in a covered area as well as fairly exposed benches. Wait staff tend to be helpful and attentive, although sometimes you might have to flag someone down (it gets really busy). The beer selection is also reasonable, although on busy weekends, you might see them run out of particular varieties. The minuses: frankly, the food is meh. This last visit, we ordered the Portobello Mushroom Burger and the Black Bean Burger (both vegetarian). My girlfriend enjoyed the former, although she wasn't super enthusiastic about it. I found the black bean burger to be fairly mushy and tasteless. It also looks like it may have fallen apart on the grill, and was kind of slapped back together again. I didn't finish it. Fries are hit or miss here. Sometimes, you'll get fries that are cooked appropriately, still somewhat soft. Other times, you'll get a tray of well-cooked fries, with tons of crispy bits (with some grease to spare). Another time, I ordered their BLT, which is served on a kind of Texas Toast. I enjoyed this more than the Black Bean Burger, but still, I've had much better BLT sandwiches. All in all, we'll continue to stop here, just because of the proximity of the water and how close it is to my house. But I wish the food were better. read more

A good place to stop by if you're in magnuson park. The outdoor seating faces the water and I bet it'd be a great place to enjoy a sunset. It's a super standard burgers and salad place and I wanted something healthier so got the kale apple salad. Magnuson Cafe and Brewery for me, is a drink and enjoy the view type of place. I will never eat here again. Both times, my food has been gross. How do you mess up French fries? Ask this place. The garlic fries were extremely greasy, but they should be with the way they are prepared. The kitchen here is open so you can see a little of what goes on in there. To achieve the garlic flavor, the chef pours garlic oil on fries that just came out of oil. The fries are then adorned with whole pieces of roasted garlic. Putting oil on top of oil made for oil soaked fries. I know this is not a health-forward restaurant, but that amount of oil is ridiculous anywhere. The second time I came here, I had the fish and chips. Another mistake. The dish looked appealing when it came out, but after I took one bite of the fish, I decided to investigate what I was eating. The piece of fish is a facade. When you pull back the thick layer of breading, a very thin layer of cod is revealed. Most of what you are eating is a thick, sturdy coating of greasy breading and very little actual fish. They are cutting corners and cost with this dish. The coleslaw was also old, as I could see that it was turning brown and looked beige. For what they charge here for food, you would think that you are getting something better than that. Service is hit or miss. One time I came, the gal that helped me was rude and had no customer service skills. The second time I came, that gal was very nice and professional. This spot has a great location with beautiful sweeping views of Lake Washington, so this is a great place to drink and take a load off, but I suggest that you eat somewhere else. read more

Came in on a Saturday night and since there was a private party on the covered patio, the rest of the patrons had the choice of being crammed into a small area inside or sitting in the wind and drizzle. We were lucky enough to find a table inside, but had to bus it ourselves before sitting down. I think maybe they were just short handed. The food we got wasn't terrible, but I'm not sure if I'd ever order it again. Burger was small and pretty dry, fish tacos were just okay and not very flavorful, and our side of tots was almost laughably small. With all that said, the beer was decent and I could see the appeal of sipping on a brew here while looking over the water on a nicer weather day. Might give this place another shot in the future, but the overall experience wasn't super memorable. Stopped here about 2:30 in the afternoon on a sunny 45 degree day and everything was fantastic. Ordered the classic burger and a hazy pale ale. The burger is the perfect size (4-5in diameter) and the patty is juicy (formed by hand?). No frills, just a good solid juicy burger. The beer is crisp with a variance of citrus hops. There was little wait after order to receive my food, and the staff was pleasant. Seating on the patio overlooking the lake is hard to beat! The prices are fare. It is a very relaxed (but elevated) fast food vibe. Not sure if table service is not available for just the breakfast meal, or the new normal for all dining at the cafe. It makes for an expedited experience, which I can appreciate! They also serve mimosas and beer if you're up for a good buzz early in the morning! The only thing missing from my breakfast, hash browns. They do offer breakfast potatoes (kinda like a Mexi-fry or home fry). I did try them once but didn't care for them. Perfect place to stop by after the dog park at magnuson! We came with a big group with 5 dogs and we were able to find seating right away to the side of the brewery. We went on a very sunny day and it was PACKED and the lines to food and drinks were veryyyy long and took about 30-45 mins to get our food. I don't know what it is but I really love coming here on a nice day. They have a nice large patio with a bit of a view. It's located in a big parking lot in three sand point magnuson area. Very kid friendly and dog friendly. They have a selection of beers on tap as well as some wine and cider. The mimosa I got was $9. The food is pretty good but nothing that really stands out. We dropped into Magnuson Cafe & Brewery to pick up drinks and decided to order a biscuit to try out their food. The honey liked the coffee, but my soda tasted like it came out of a liter bottle that had been sitting, very flat. By far the biggest reason this is 2 stars is that a plain biscuit took at least 15 minutes to come out. It was't a freshly made biscuit from the oven, but much more like bread that obviously came out of a plastic bag put in a toaster. Although the jam served with it was good, in no world should something so basic take so long. The view was pretty, but the white chair covers were gray from dirt, and it just felt like the most basic of food upcharged and heated up. My mother moved into the neighborhood 3 weeks ago, and this spot became our new favorite for its mushroom Swiss burgers, which the kitchen has been kind enough to make without pepper, to which I'm allergic. But my profound gratitude goes out to the staff for their kind help when my mother fell in the parking lot, and they got her ice in Saran Wrap and an ace bandage. We were also lucky in that nursing staff from UW ran to my mom's aid and helped me assess her and get her up again (she walks with a cane). Everyone was kind and supportive! Beers and food were served quickly. The West Coast Pilsner was fantastic! Perfect amount of hops and sweetness. It was super refreshing for a warm afternoon. Could drink them all day long. The beer batter used for the onion rings and fish was delicious. It was thick and fluffy almost like funnel cake or pancake and had a great mix of seasoning. The fish was moist and well cooked. So my wife and I had grabbed a decent sized order for family, we got two salads two fish n chips and burger with two sides of fries. Now when it came to the dressing there was a teaspoon worth in the container which was saddening to say the least. My order of fish n chips was how you say underwhelming and caked on batter that left me wishing I had more than a square of small fish under a nice layer of fried batter. My friend and I decided to head to Magnuson Park (mainly me because I've never been to the park and wanted to go somewhere new) today. We stopped by the cafe for a quick lunch. I didn't expect much but the experience was much better than what I imagined! The fried chicken sandwich was juicy and crispy, a little salty but still a great sandwich. My friend and I split a chocolate milkshake and that was superb too!! The chocolate had real chocolate flavor and it wasn't overly sweet and left some dark taste which I really liked. Outstanding find by the water in a quiet, tucked away area. We were there with a group of 8 and had no problem finding a place to sit in their outdoor patio area. Good selection of beer, and a solid menu. We had different appetizers to share and they were all very good - particularly the spicy boneless chicken and the cauliflower popcorn. The burgers look amazing, be aware they are smaller than you commonly see at restaurants. We had a company even here so ended up with a lot of various food items and a bunch of beers. The salads were really good. Everything else was absolutely horrendous. The burger, the friend chicken sandwich, the tots, the fries, the brussel sprouts, everything was just dry and flavorless and just felt like mouthfuls of cardboard. The only saving grace was that the portion sizes were so small that the punishment ended quickly. How bars and pubs can make such bad bar food is beyond me. A hard hard pass. p.s. I have to admit, the location of this place threw me off a bit while driving here because I think expect to be next to small port and "beach" area. Place was fairly busy. It had plenty of parking and outdoor/indoor open seating. Line forms and moves fast for ordering at the cashier. You pretty much order at the counter, take a number, head to the bar to grab any drink orders, then just find an open table for you and your party and someone should be over with your order when ready. Fairly straight forward process. Not sure how they find the order number so easily though. Definitely try not to block it from view to make things easier. I ordered a Cold Stone Hazy IPA and the Double Bacon Cheese Burger with an egg over easy added to it. I was pretty hungry since I didn't eat much all day. So I devoured it pretty fast. I also got an order of Garlic Fries too. They could be crispier to be honest, but I do appreciate they use whole cloves of garlic to season it. I don't see that too often since most places have them crushed or diced. The outdoor seating is nice cause you can get a view of the water a bit. You'll mostly just see the parking lot out front, but if you like people watching, it's a solid view for that. Food was good, nothing to rave about though. Solid burger and solid beer and decent view guess. It's a nice lunch spot with friends I would say for food or chilling. read more
