Stopped in here for a home cooked breakfast my husband got the egg and ham omelette it was packed for of ham and was good . I got the ham and eggs the ham was huge and great Smokey flavor I enjoyed it . There is a lighter menu which had half order I would do that next time . The portions were huge and was it was good. The decor is old pictures a few I remember seeing at friends house when I was growing up. The bathroom had these rag dolls my mom Used to make . If you're looking for a little town old fashion small restaurant. This is it . The service was great and friendly. I won't pop in here again . You will not be hungry after you leave I promise:)

A hole in the wall off the road. Food was AMAZING and ginormous portions. The best part was the service by the nicest, kindest grandmas. If you're passing by seaside or going there, definitely stop by for breakfast.

Found this spot on Yelp. Very happy we chose it! Home style cooking, plenty of choices. And they serve both breakfast and lunch all day. Great friendly service.

Love this place! Old school diner feeling!

New owners but same GREAT food and service! Not only does the food never disappoint the prices are also affordable! My daughter said her burger with steak fries ($12.50) was the BEST she ever had and goodness has she had a lot of burgers! I had the special which was half eggs Benedict half homemade corned beef hash and YUMMMMMM! Would absolutely recommend!!

It was basic food similar to Denny's but prices were 50% higher in comparison. It wasn't bad but not good either. Staff was nice though.

That's why I've decided to stop hurting myself and go to the Chalkboard Cafe instead. The difference in quality of ingredients and cooking is apparent in the first bite. It really is a bit jarring. This restaurant makes everything from scratch, and I mean everything. Yesterday my son and I got two burgers and our potato salad and coleslaw sides were like sides my mother would make in her kitchen, not globs of shelf stable Reser's food-paste that were made two states over a month ago and sprayed with mortuary chemicals to stop their decay. The food at the Chalkboard is real food, not fake food, which brings me to my next point, dietary restrictions. If I had any dietary restrictions whatsoever, gluten sensitivity in particular, this would be where I would go for breakfast or lunch in Seaside. Chalkboard has gluten free biscuits and gravy available, delicious GF naan bread made by hand, and gluten free versions of popular bakery goods made in their small kitchen from scratch. Even if you don't have restrictions you can be assured that your meal will have 80% less total ingredients just based on the restaurant's ethics alone. They aren't taking shortcuts, they aren't bringing junk into the building in the first place, so junk never ends up on your plate. The service is stellar, the ambiance is charming and clean. You're out of excuses. You were wondering where you should go to eat, and now you know. Go to the restaurant where the locals take their own families - the Chalkboard Cafe.

But I didn't care too much for the flavor. Genuinely not good. And the cream cheese it came with, zero flavor, which was easily remedied by adding my own salt. The ambience and decor was quaintly charming, at first. But the more I looked the more understood that everything was creepy. Like witchcraft creepy.

4.5 stars... well, let's call it four and a half with a raised eyebrow…read more Time's Theater and Public House has been part of my life since I was three years old. Three. I couldn't tie my shoes, but I could sit in that theater and stare at that big glowing screen like it was the second coming of Hollywood. From childhood all the way to 18, that place wasn't just a theater it was a landmark. It's iconic. It's got bones. It's got stories in the walls. I remember walking in one time and the screen was down, sports blasting on that big canvas like God intended. That's how you use a theater, folks. You don't buy a cowboy hat to hang it on the wall you wear it. Same principle. Now listen, they've fixed up the bathrooms . Nobody wants to change "historic" restrooms. Some things should stay nostalgic. Some things should not. The food? On point. Service? Solid. Decor? Still has that old-school charm that makes you feel like you're part of something bigger than just lunch and a beer. But here's where I tilt my glass and squint a little. Last few times we've gone in, that big beautiful screen is nowhere to be seen. Instead, we're staring at giant stainless steel beer kegs stretched across the back like industrial art. Not everybody came to admire a 10-foot aluminum torpedo. Drop the screen, man. Let it shine. It's a theater. If I wanted to stare at storage containers, I'd tour a shipping yard. And here's the kicker we walked in at lunch, only a couple folks inside. By the time we left? Elbow to elbow. Packed out. The business is hopping. Which tells me you're doing a lot right. I just think when you've got that kind of space and that kind of history, you let the screen fly. Give the people the ambiance. Don't buzzkill the magic with beer tanks. I love the place. I'll keep coming back. But pull that screen down and let it do what it was born to do. That's worth half a star right there.

Crab cakes were expensive and underwhelming. Ceviche was literally nothing but cheap bay shrimp. I ordered the halibut tacos for my main with no mango salsa because of an allergy. It came with mango salsa and the wrong kind of tortilla. Before I could say anything waitress bolted away from the table. I think she knew it was wrong. We had to flag down another waiter after looking for ours for ten minutes, rest of the party had almost finished their food by that point. Two other people had incorrect orders as well but chose to deal with it as it wasn't allergies. Finally got correct order and I wish I would have just sent it back with no replacement. Halibut was almost non existent, it was more of a cabbage taco. The rice was gross and tasted old. The beans were bland. When our waitress finally did come back she said nothing about my incorrect meal. She actually became rude and cold, wouldn't even look at us. I had just received correct meal and two others ordered more drinks since we would be staying longer. Took over 20 minutes to get more drinks and she had become so cold that we were all convinced she might have spit in them. New drinks were left untouched and I left hungry.
