Embarrassed . Hurt . Humiliated . These words best describe how I felt on what was supposed to be a celebration of my 62 birthday . After eating dinner , we waited a few hours to perhaps have a birthday cake with my three children . The main server immediately shut us down . "No outside food" she exclaimed . One small cake , and a big "fuck you" later , we ate the cake on Hotel grounds . A big thanks to the front desk . She was a sweetheart . Thanks , Mike and Brian . I guess if there is any celebrating to occur , it better not be any customer to have just a few joys in life . Thanks for sucking .

Service from our server was awful. The food is just a mediocre pub, not sure how some folks are into having the McMenamins passport and visiting all of them after this experience but maybe this one is an anomaly of them. With that said I think they just bank on the many hotels next to it and their golf course greens and fairways being in amazing condition. The pub itself was just a stop inbetween our game and with many regulars that seem to just bypass it all together from what I gathered. Probably wouldn't come back to eat but would probably golf here again.

Nice dinner with the family! On this cold damp day clam chowder sounded so good to me. I ordered it in a sourdough bread bowl. Delicious and exactly what I craved. Our grandsons had individual pizzas which they chowed down. My husband and our son had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. His wife had a chicken sandwich with tons of crispy tater tots. We all loved our food. There was a nice fire going in our room of the dining area and our grandsons knew where the games were stored so kept themselves busy while we waited for our food. I would definitely come back again.

Service was great, but really disappointed now they don't make real hollandaise sauce, they used to, but now it taste like a mix and they're very chintzy with what they give you, on your eggs Benedict, isn't even enough to make it through one of the stacks... I had to ask for some more, and of course they charge another $3.25, kind of lame! Specially since I came here cause I they remembered they made real hollandaise sauce... I know they used to, must be all about that bottom line and it's cheaper for them to just use a packet. I won't be back.

My hubby and I came to stay here for our 24th anniversary .first night we stayed we went to have dinner I ordered the northern cod omg so delicious it was so nice to order a dinner and I finished it , I am still craving it . Hubby got the crab shrimp roll and chowder . He enjoyed it . So on our anniversary I wanted to go back and have it again we were staying at the hotel which was nice just right there . We sit down order couple beers ruby is my favorite. Waitress comes out i order fish again and hubby order fish tacos . It had been close to 20 min waitress comes out and tells me they were out of the cod dinner. I was so disappointed especially because was our anniversary and wanted to enjoy another delicious meal. She made feel like I needed to hurry and order. I told her how I was bummed she just was like hmm. I said I guess I'll get fish and chips. She leaves comes back we ordered another beer we both asked if we could get chowder I wanted instead of tots and husband just wanted a bowl she said too late . I said exscuse me how is it late we just want to order the chowder nope too late so I was in a little shock i wish I would have ask for a manager . She brings food it was good but it was not wanted . What I don't understand is why wouldn't she suggest the salmon or try and have some kind of customer service to come up with a solution and the chowder threw us off ??Disappointed especially we drove from Eugene . The decor is always the best cozy funky and fun.

The burgers were unfortunately really dry and didn't have much flavor. However the Korean tacos they have right now as a seasonal special were really good and flavorful. The chips they had on the side were a little weird, I would have liked something more refreshing like a slaw. The service was good, they were friendly and helpful

Sand Trap Breakfast with cottage potatoes, bacon, and gluten free bread

We had a great breakfast here! The service was quick and the staff were super friendly! They even had gluten free buns as a substitution for the bread. The golf course was a nice backdrop and the rustic vibes inside were warm and inviting. The music made us laugh as it was a mix of opera and jazz we will be back!

Cute bar on the golf course right off the cart path. Great drinks and snacks and cigars. A few tables inside a rustic shack and tables outside on a patio beside a putting green. They have a couple of fire pits and a restroom is available.

If I could do a 3.5 star I would but since I feel it's closer to 4 they got 4. I really enjoyed the clam chowder, super creamy and hearty. The kids Mac n cheese was good. Everything else was pretty basic. I went to a teriyaki restaurant less than a mile from here and paid half the cost for better food. I don't think this place's prices justify the taste. Our waiter was awesome. Outdoor seating is nice. Bathroom was clean. Overall pleasant experience.

Gearhart is definitely one of our favorite McMenamins hotels that we stay at but the food here in the restaurant is very hit and miss. We've come in for lunch and had the best chowder and sandwiches but we've also had dinners that were served cold and simply not good. This visit we were served soft pretzels with the cheese fondue (usually my favorite!) with cold cheese and pretzels that were barely warm on the outside and almost frozen in the center. McMenamins chowder is also one of my favorites but the cannonball was disappointing this time. It was served lukewarm and the clams were so chewy I picked them out. Our drinks were good and our service was friendly. It was a busy evening so things took a bit longer. We didn't complain about the food since the staff seemed to be just trying to keep up. We didn't want to make their evening any more stressful. We'll be back again in a few months and we'll keep our fingers crossed our favorites will be better next time.

Absolutely wonderful breakfasts. We had an eggs Benedict plate and an omelette, both with salmon. Service was fast and friendly.

Do they take reservations?

Yes they do, for hotel and golfing. So I'm pretty sure for dinner as well

This location is right on the golf course and can get pretty busy at certain times of year. There's both street parking and a parking lot. It's quite small and quaint, mostly accessed thru a door upstairs in the hall near the restaurant or from an outside door behind the building. It's nicely decorated and didn't have a whole lot of space inside. With current social distancing standards it may be hard to get into, but that makes it a great place for a romantic meal or a quiet conversation. There's a fire place that adds to this feel. There are lots of interesting things to rest your eyes on while you hang out. I imagine most people who take advantage of this actually enjoy the outdoor area located adjacent to the hotel and the golf course. We had a meal, this location seems to share the same menu as the Sand Trap Pub which is upstairs and much larger. I've come to enjoy the vegan option of the Mystic burger. I also had a wine flight which seemed pretty reasonable at 10$. My partner had a cider which I was surprised to see came in a can, I can't recall what food he had. Our server was great and very attentive. This location closed earlier than the upstairs on our visit, but not sure what their non covid hours are like.

I wish they had a better choice of beer so I didn't have to get Bud Light (lager), but you get what you get at, do I dare say, dive bars. Hmmmm, would you call this a dive bar? Except for the location, all arrows point to yes. They have video poker but it is usually pretty full. This is definitely a popular place. Even though it's not the best service and not enough seats, I will come back because of the location. Maybe they'll get an actual lager on tap.

Not once did she acknowledge me, just a slight smirk and went around the whole bar asking everyone if they needed refills, even some who still had full drinks. Then started to have a convo with a man at the end of the bar. She knew I was there. Finally I waved and asked if I could get a drink and she rolled her eyes and said yes. What is with this girl? What kinda game is that? Rude The only reason I'm giving two stars and not one is because another employee came in when she left and while he was nicer, was still only chatting it up with locals and I had to interrupt their conversation to be served.
