Rigatoni, Paccheri
Hannah G.

We're from out of town and were overwhelmed with the amount of dinner options, not knowing what is good and what is overrated. We searched for so long and finally landed on this place. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing for the price point. We loved the meatball flight, and the person who brought them to our table gave a fabulous presentation explaining each one. However, our actual server was not very attentive, and the food itself was so bland. I had the Paccheri which is the short rib pasta, and it was all just mushy and bland. My friend got the Rigatoni which to me tasted like regular jarred vodka sauce, and her boyfriend got a pizza, which was just okay. Overall none of us finished our food and left feeling unsatisfied.

Meatballs and Wine! After a trip from Nashville, I wanted meatballs and Wine! And the Mama Meatballs and The Calabrian Rose did great as a pair! The service is amazing! The atmosphere isn't snobby so that I liked as well!

I live down the street and have been wanting to try Grana for a while so I walked over there Tuesday after work and tried their happy hour. Happy hour is mon-fri from 4-6. The place is beautiful inside and I like that they have bar seating and a rooftop. I sat at the bar and ordered pizza (the one with the bacon) , ceasar salad , a drink and carbonara pasta. The service was good, food came out fresh and hot. Pizza was delicious, pasta was cheesy and seasoned perfectly and drink was good! Caesar salad was okay it needed more dressing. I would come here again an try more menu item.

Apparently they have named their pizza ovens. Sophia

Fun space, would be great with a large party. Our waiter was perfectly attentive and gave us a good once over of the menu since it was our first time there. We weren't starving, so my bf and I started with one of the meatballs (I think it was just called "the grana" and it was a pretty basic meatball, nothing too special...I would like to try some of the other more creative sounding ones. Then we split the chicken parm with the side of spaghetti. HUGE portion. We both ate a lot and I brought home enough left overs that I had a problem finishing it the next day. I'm realizing now they didn't offer any bread for the table, maybe that's a menu item as so many places are doing now? Anyway, I'd like to go back and try the pizza, I love that they name the ovens and one is named Sophia (my daughter's name!)

Came here with a friend who loves Italian. I am not a fan of Italian food . To begin we got here 10 pm on a Friday night. I think they close at 11pm. So dinner service was winding down for the night and besides a few other patrons we almost had the restaurant to ourselves. When you walk in there is a cute bar and large tables to sit at (great for family style). In the back are regular tables and booths. Lots of seating, great for larger parties. Our server was excellent giving great recommendations. To start we had the meatball flight which we really enjoyed. Next We got the garlic bread.... Which was essentially a pizza. I got the Roni pizza as my entree. We got the Peccheri to share (I love short rib). My date had the chicken parmigiana. Overall the food was tasty. I am not a fan of Italian food, so while the food was tasty I wasn't wowed. The star of the night was my cannoli which was delicious. As for parking we found street parking a few steps from the restaurant.

This is by far one of my favorite spots for a classic pepperoni pizza. The flavor is outstanding and robust, topped with honey chili oil--chef's kiss! I also love their rooftop patio, which features high-top tables and cozy couch seating around fire pits. The indoor space is just as aesthetically pleasing. The service is always excellent, and the warm greetings upon arrival add to the experience. Grana is truly a favorite of mine. They offer plenty of other great dishes on the menu, so don't hesitate to explore. Plus, they offer complimentary valet parking, which is a nice bonus.

Grana is a modern Italian restaurant that has dishes reminiscent of southern Italian cuisine. We tried their wood fire oven roasted pizza and their meatball flight and they both were exquisite. The cocktails were VERY good! I had the blackberry mule and an espresso martini and both were amazing. I highly recommend their Roni pizza. The sweetness of the spicy honey, paired with the savoriness of the pepperoni was sooo good! I loved the yummy twist to such a classic pizza. Our service was fast even with it being a somewhat large party. A very casual restaurant with light music in the background. Valet parking is mandatory.

LOVED this place! My boyfriend and I went on Friday and really liked it. For appetizers we ordered the Mommy's meatballs and the Fried Mozzarella. For dinner I had the gnocchi alla sorrentina and my boyfriend had the chicken parmigiana. His dish was so big two people could have eaten from it. Our server Nolan was super nice and outgoing. The restaurant is also beautiful and way bigger than we thought (they have three floors).

I had a lot of high expectations when eating at this restaurant because I heard really good reviews however I was pretty disappointed in the food and service. Me and my friends ordered three different pizzas and a salad, and they said that the salad was extremely dry and could've easily been made at home. The pizzas were also slightly undercooked and soggy, and it was still yummy, but it wasn't the best Italian I had in Atlanta. As for the service, my friends do not eat pork, and we asked if they could remove the pork meatballs from the meatball flight so that they weren't touching the other beef meatballs. However, the server said that was not possible which I thought was laughable. Overall, I don't think I would come back due to the food, the service and the price. However, the rooftop patio had really great views and was a good vibe maybe for happy hour. It would've been better.

First time here but I can't wait to go back! A little pricey but very flavorful & different! The decorations are so pretty & the drinks are swinging! I could see this place getting super crowded in the evening so reservations are recommended!

Broccolini with a spicy sauce

So, I wanted to come here for a birthday dinner in their rooftop; however, it stormed that day so it wasn't open. I'd say service and food are definitely four stars. Everything we ate was food. The portions were huge, more like a family sized portion but I'm glad we had leftovers for the next day. The chicken parm and potatoes were great as were the Brussel sprouts. I didn't care for the broccolini as the sauce and sesame wasn't as good a combo to me as it seemed (and I love broccolini!) The drinks were nice and refreshing (I can't remember the names but check my pics). Ambiance- the decor is nice. The tables are rather close. Since it was raining hard, there was some type of leak from the ceiling so the table next to us had to move. I also had to change the siding the table sat on because I could feel some water droplets but they didn't get on the table. There's not much they can do about a leak until the building owner fixes that. What gets me to probably not come back even though the food was good is that there were a ton of fruit flies. One got into my first drink. They brought another one but we had to keep our drink and food covered. It makes you think, wth is going on in the kitchen?

Spicy Rigatoni

Everything was so good. The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and flavorful and had great flavor. I didn't like that they didn't bring everything out at once despite us ordering together but other than that amazing. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu and sit on the roof! The inside was so beautiful but definitely need to see the views from the top.

All I have to say is Grana is definitely worth trying! It took me way too long to try the menu out as I heard about the restaurant at least 2 years ago and pass it many times on Piedmont Road. The style of the restaurant along with some conversations I overheard are what finally got me to order! I ordered a Meatball Flight with 2 New Yorker Style Pizzas (BOGO), and Crispy Potatoes. All items were packaged so nicely I can only image how food is plated in restaurant. The Pizza's were very good! They definitely use quality ingredients and I tasted some type of floral taste on the crust! I've never tasted that before. I ordered the New Yorker because it was apart of the BOGO deal but I think it's one of their more traditional pizzas. They have an abundance of other unique options. The meatball flight was a fun appetizer and very tasty. My least favorite was the one with the raisins, yes raisins! Lol... Last the crispy potatoes were tasty as well but not my favorite. I did enjoy the spicy aioli atop. I used leftovers for breakfast and made them more crispy in the Air Fryer! I'm definitely ordering again as they have a huge assortment of Pastas, Antipasti items and just lots of authentic Italian items. I was so impressed I did some research on the owner and his other restaurant The White Bull! I'll be trying that soon as well!

She also clued us into the fact that you can get all of their entree pastas in appetizer size! This means we were able to try more pastas as well as enjoy an app and dessert. We ordered a bottle of Nero D'Avola, which was smooth and delicious. We got the meatballs as our appetizer, which were super tender and full of flavor. We split the rigatoni alla vodka, fettucine ai funghi, and tagliatelle bolognese. All were perfection. I loved the creaminess of the alla vodka, which had a kick of spice from the chili oil. I loved the herbiness and freshness of both the ai funghi with its sage and the bolognese with its rosemary. The tiramisu was the only dish that was just ok. I would much rather have espresso drenched ladyfingers than coffee liquor. But it was still good so I cannot complain. The waitress also surprised us with prosecco with a lemon rind twist to celebrate the fact that we had just closed on our first ever home. All in all - it was a perfect evening.

We did arrive here a bit early for our reservation but were seated right next to the open kitchen, so it felt quite crowded and cramped. It's a very, very small restaurant and it was freezing where we sat because we were under the vents. Our server, Mary Catherine, was a treat and she took good care of us. She took our drink orders, though I didn't drink tonight. For appetizers, we started with the calamari and stuffed clams. They also offered complementary bread and olive oil basket that was served warm, yum! Our food orders came out pretty fast actually. The calamari was not your typical fried calamari - it was delicious and loved the mix of raw onions in it for that fresh bite. I'm not a fan of clams so I didn't try this, but heard it was just breading and can't really taste the clam taste. For my entree, I ordered the spaghetti pomodoro with meatballs. I had been dreaming about this since making the reservations and it did not disappoint. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was wonderful. I did think the meatballs were a tad too salty for my taste and I'm glad I opted out of the freshly grated parm because I feel like that would have made everything saltier. After our meal, they brought out free dessert for the birthday celebrants. Nothing but raves were said after our dinner here and we're definitely looking forward to coming back here again.

We were seated in the back which is still festive but brighter and less cozy. Like many mentioned, the waitstaff wasn't interested in making the experience memorable and wanted you in and out as fast as possible. This feels like a tourist trap in a quaint neighborhood. We both got pasta entrees and they were good, but expensive considering no meat was included. The drinks were festive and actually felt like a good pour considering how expensive they are. 2 stars for that. We ended with the crème brûlée which was somehow over cooked and not creamy. I'm sure the owner will be aggressive about this honest review. To be fair, my sister loved the experience but she's hardly traveled and is delighted by mediocre things sometimes. I really wanted to love this place because we just moved to the area and I wanted to have this be our new cozy date night place. It won't be. We had reservations and were quickly seated after being greeted. The restaurant itself was quite intimate, offering only a few tables that were laid out in a manner that had us all quite close. But it worked! Since we had our son with us, they already had a high chair ready for us but he slept through the entire dinner, which also shows how peaceful it actually was in there. I started with a glass of chianti and it paired perfectly with the complimentary starter bread. That focaccia was so fresh! The crust had a great crunch but it was still soft and fluffy inside. We went with the meatball appetizer special which included 4-5 meatballs covered in marinara, fresh tomatoes and burrata. They were delicious, although the tomatoes being cold was a bit of a surprise. For dinner, I went for the chicken piccata and my partner opted for the chicken marsala. Both were great and packed with flavor. Such an unassuming place with tons of flavor waiting inside - perfect for date night or just a nice Italian dinner!

I opted for the blackberry fiz mocktail, which was super sweet at first, but with a good mix, it was super refreshing. For starters, we shared the eggplant balls (a must get here!) and the bread service. The eggplant balls were definitely shareable and were probably our favorite thing we ate. The bread service you could probably skip - we wish it was served with vinegar instead of just oil and an olive tapenade. For entrees, I ordered one of the dinner specials, grilled branzino served with broccolini and potatoes. My husband ordered the ravioli. I really enjoyed the branzino, it was tender and the skin was cooked crispy. I loved that the broccolini was charred enough, but wish the potatoes were cooked a bit more. The capers added the needed saltiness to the dish, though I wish this was served with lemon or something to balance out the flavors. My husband enjoyed his ravioli but found it too heavy with the cream sauce. We thought this was a decent place for dinner, but nothing really stood out besides the eggplant balls.

We also shared the charred broccoli, but was nothing to write home about - personally, would not recommend. I ordered an affogato as my dessert. I wasn't expecting the espresso and ice cream to be served separately. I just took sips of the espresso while taking spoonfuls of ice cream - this was easily shared. I do want to give a shout out to their general manager, Macy. She dropped by our table to check how we were enjoying our meal. Two people in our party has been there before to celebrate a big accomplishment and Macy remembered them! She even remembered giving them a gift that night. I think it's worth trying their food! However the server we had tonight was one of the worst experiences I've had especially for a place that is trying to sell an upscale dining environment he greeted the table by saying (after we asked how he was doing) "I'm doing f-ing horrible I'm tired and feel like sh*t we had such a busy night last night" he was not very knowledgeable about menu or drinks and his overall appearance gave very much unhygienic he also forgot to put in our food order so we waited double the time and said that since we already had appetizers and the other table did not have any food that we could wait to order food, also just assumed how someone in my group wanted there steak cooked so had to wait for that to be redone, he was all over the place and did not check in on us very often we needed things like refills or salt pepper etc. and went without because bad service I don't think he should have been working he obviously did not want to be there he also failed to mention that the kitchen was closing so we did not get to try the desserts. There were a couple of other things but don't want a 5 page review I cannot remember his name but a taller white guy with a messy bun and tired eyes. We still left a tip because that's what you do when you go out but if he treated his other tables like he did us I wouldn't be surprised if we were the only ones that tipped. I suggest not going on a busy night to get good service I guess. My group was 4 ppl 2 couples trying to enjoy a nice double date without the craziness of v-day next time we will celebrate days before. Will for sure be going back and hope you give them a try but if that's how the waiter greets himself please go ahead and ask for a different server!!!!
