We came here on a Saturday night while visiting from out of town. The pace was busy but we were able to get a seat. I liked that they provided free samples prior to choosing flavors but I wish I could have gotten two flavors in the small bowl. I ended up getting the Dutch Milk Chocolate and salted caramel and my wife got toffee chip. We both really enjoyed the flavors we chose. My wife's only complaint was about how large the chocolate chips were in her dish. They were huge chunks of chocolate instead of smaller chips. Some may really like this - I didn't mind it at all. Graeter's Ice Cream is essentially the best possible food you can put in your mouth. I've admired this treat from afar, snagging pints in my Chicago grocery stores when they're available. But upon my recent visit to Cincinnati, I wanted to stop in an actual Graeter's location to see the situation first-hand. The flavors are top-notch. Basically anything with chocolate "chips" is a slam dunk winner. They're not chips so much as giant hunks of delicious chocolate icebergs, just waiting for you to discover them with your spoon. So why only 4 stars? The physical condition of this location leaves much to be desired. Everything looks very, very run down and neglected. Even the ice cream was melty as soon as it came out of the freezer. (Might wanna check that temperature - I don't think it's being kept as cold as it should.) The bathrooms were also looking like they'd seen better days. Again, this ice cream is perfection, but this particular location needs a serious revamp. read more

I had Graeter's Ice Cream in Kentucky for the first time in May. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. No other ice cream will ever live up to Graeter's! You can't get Graeter's ice cream in California unless you place an order online and pay $80 for 6 pints. They're based out of Ohio. I couldn't live without Graeter's any longer so I buckled and placed an order for 6 pints. I placed my order around 2pm on 10/20 and I received it at 11am on 10/22! It came packed in a small Styrofoam cooler and dry ice. It's been sitting on my desk all day and the ice cream is still rock hard and freezing cold. Never in my life had I had ice cream as good as this folks. Seriously. I was recommended and insisted upon by a friend to try out Graeter's while I was in Cincinnati. I should have sampled, but I saw the mint chocolate chip and dove right in. Fun fact - it was also low on the GI scale so I guess that is cool? But either way it was delicious, creamy, and they "chips" were incredible. That is definitely what they are known for and it did not disappoint. One of the managers of the store insisted that I try the peanut butter one so she handed me a sample and it was phenomenal as well, but I was there for any of the ones with the chocolate chip option. I'm always on the search for great homemade ice cream, and I think this is my new go-to spot in Cincinnati. The staff is friendly and will make sure you taste a few flavors before making your decision. The Key Lime Pie was delicious, light, and refreshing. The Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is what they're known for, and after trying it I can understand why. The flavor is spot on, and the chocolate pieces melt in your mouth! I also tried the Chunky Chunky Hippo. Although the name sounds funny, they did not mess around with this one. It was my favorite with vanilla ice cream, peanuts, caramel, and pieces of chocolate truffle. They also offer donuts, chocolates, candy, coffee, and ice cream pints to-go. You can even use them to cater an event! A fellow customer told me about an ice cream sundae bar they set up. Ruined our birthday party for my daughter! I placed an online order for delivery well in advance. However when we received the delivery via DoorDash we found it was missing the birthday cake! Spent an hour on chat with DoorDash support to get someone from the actual store to pick up their phone to help but nothing! Called the Graeters online order support and they tried to contact the store manager and nothing. When we finally got someone to pick up the store phone they were incredibly rude telling us to call Monday because nobody could help us over the weekend !!! I can forgive delivery mistakes but the poor support when your customers need you the most was so frustrating! read more

My boss received 6 pints of Graeter's ice cream as a gift and left it in the office freezer "for anyone to eat." Needless to say, I've been downing bowls of this stuff all week. The Black Raspberry is probably one of the most delicious ice cream flavors I've ever eaten in my entire life. Thumbs up also go to the Mint Chocolate Chip and Cookie Dough. They use giant chunks of dark chocolate in all of these flavors, and the chocolate is at a perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture that blends magnificently into the creamy, but not heavy, ice cream base. I always thought that my trip to the Ben & Jerry's factory was going to be the most important ice cream-related event of my life, but I am starting to reconsider. It might be worth a trip to Cincinnati just to eat this ice cream on its home turf. My first trip to an actual Graeter's store was last weekend at this particular location (same place as their manufacturing plant) when I visited Cincinnati. Previously I had only tasted Graeter's ice cream by ordering online. I must say, I didn't think it was possible but their ice cream tasted even better at the store. Mmmmmm.. deliciously soft chocolate chips mixed into the creamiest ice cream ever.... My personal favorite is the double chocolate chip. This review is going to need a disclaimer... Ever since I knew how to spell my last name, my father has worked for companies specifically known for ice cream. Ice cream in the freezer was constant. Growing up with a constant supply of hard pack ice cream has made me develop a genuine fondness for soft serve in its infinite forms. But practically none of that has to do with Graeter's. Read everyone else's reviews... they're all completely valid. In fact, I'm embarrassed that I'm actually putting this review up here. Frankly, I find Graeter's way too rich for me. (Well, that and the first sundae I had years ago just wasn't all I thought it was cracked up to be.) Every flavor is handmade in small batches using the french pot method (which makes it VERY rich), and the chocolate chips are to die for. That's because they aren't chips. They actually throw some melted chocolate into the batch while it's churning and call it a day. :o) Out of all of the flavors, the black raspberry chip is definitely the best. Believe it or not, their CAKES (not ice cream cakes, regular cakes) are to die for. I don't know if they sell them at locations other than this one, but you should definitely pick one up next time someone has a birthday. Graeter's, you'll earn another star back if you just get some peanut butter topping for sundaes. That would be divine. read more

If it's ice cream you want in Cincinnati, make it Graeter's. It is absolutely wonderful. The Mt. Auburn location is especially dear to me because I remember visiting when I was a kid and we'd be down that way visiting my aunt. Not much has changed either, except that they don't do the bulk of the manufacturing at this location anymore. Graeter's ice cream isn't your cheap run of the mill ice cream. They make small batches with quality ingredients so you know you're getting the good stuff. It's a bit pricier than if you were to go pick up a pint of the Kroger brand stuff, but once you taste it you'll know why. Black raspberry chip is my favorite, of course, and I highly recommend it. Yum Greater's! If you have not tried Greater's it's a must try in Cincinnati. The ice cream is super creamy and if there happen to be chocolate chunks in your ice cream be on the lookout for HUGE chunks. Their ice cream cakes and pastries are a true treat as well. Service at the Clifton location is especially great- especially when Dushi is in- she is always very friendly and helpful. I saw a multitude of baked goods, candies, pies, and ice creams upon entering Graeter's. I came for Graeter's signature chip ice cream flavors, most notably their Black Raspberry Chip ice cream. But before all that, I sampled a couple of other flavors. Their Pumpkin ice cream is a seasonal fall flavor, using real pumpkin pie filling. I can see myself enjoying this one even when it's chilly or rainy outside. The Chocolate Chip ice cream consists of premium vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate chip chunks. A very nice ratio of chocolate chips to ice cream. A classic combination that showcases why Graeter's chip flavors are their signature items. Bring on the Black Raspberry Chip ice cream! It's officially Graeter's signature flavor and all-time bestseller. I got it in a sugar cone for $2.50. Loved this one. Just a creamy, fresh, ideal consistency -- not too hard and not too soft. Black raspberries from Oregon (yes, Oregon!) are triple-washed and incorporated in with dark chocolate chips. The chocolate chip chunks provide a wonderful texture contrast, and the chocolate is a lovely complement to the fruity raspberry ice cream. The ice cream started melting several minutes after I tried taking pictures. So yes, it did get a little messy, but hey, it was still fantastic stuff! I also like that Graeter's ice cream can be found nationwide! It's in my local Fred Meyer store...win! if you haven't had Graeter's before, be sure to try that Black Raspberry Chip ice cream! We stopped by the Graeter's on Reading Road after going to the Krohn Conservatory to see the beautiful Christmas display. The older gentleman who waited on us was wonderful! He went out of his way with all four kids to let them taste the flavors and patiently filled the orders. The Krohn was wonderful, but the grandkids mainly remember Graeter's flavors! LOL read more

The guy at the front (who was a Manager) was SUPER awkward. When we told him it was our first time and we hadn't ever had this before--he said "uh I don't know. I mean they're all good. I mean if you like a flavor just try that". Not "HEY! Here's our best flavor, or if you like (this this and this) that one would be for you! I asked him was his favorite was and he said "vanilla". It was then I figured out he wasn't a good salesman and I would have to find out for myself. The ice cream itself was DELICIOUS. I got the Buckeye, chocolate peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cookie dough and HUGE chocolate chunks. My partner had the black raspberry chocolate. Again, I wish I could rate this higher, but it's about the whole experience. Wish that guy could've made this an all around experience, but go for the ice cream and really try what you want too! read more

Damn fine place. Damn fine. It's got some old school stuff, with really nice prices. Sodas made soda water, hand pumped syrups, and their awesome ice cream, phosphates (sodas without ice cream), floats and malts, and a great selection of confections and pastries. It's also got some new school stuff like frozen lemonade smoothies, pretzel cones, and buckeyes...these things are totally new to me anyway. My wife and I got a chocolate soda, a scoop of the daily special ice cream, and a delicious glass of fresh lemonade. All of it was awesome, and under $10. Graeter's is a must try. There is a lot of good ice cream in Cincinnati, but this is definitely my favorite. I drove past this location for years before ever visiting. The hours here are not great, but the staff is. My Father-in-law visited to load up for there trip back down south and they went out of there way to help load the car. Then again, he was buying a lot of ice cream. But Graeter's isn't just about ice cream, they have a very good bakery and candy as well. Do yourself a favor, check it all out, it's the only responsible thing to do. read more
