I can't say enough good things about Gold Spoon! First of all, the Summit Park location is so fun for grabbing a treat and then going on a walk. The park is lively and has several playground areas for littles and a nice walking trail so we enjoyed a beautiful evening after eating our ice cream outside on the cute patio. The inside of Gold Spoon is really stylish and cute with pink and gold accents and local artwork. There is also ample seating and it was not very crowded when we went in on a Sunday evening. I was thinking ahead of time that the prices would be pretty expensive since this is a one-of-a-kind place with homemade ice cream, but the scoop size was generous, and it was comparable if not a little cheaper than other local Cincinnati scoop shops. And now for the ice cream... Everyone in my family tried a different flavor of a single scoop and we thought the homemade ice cream was so delicious! My mother-in-law is visiting Cincinnati and commented that it was the best ice cream she had tried so far. For me, I really appreciated the numerous vegan flavors as I am dairy free, which usually limits you to only a couple flavors. There was great variety from vegan cookies and cream, to lavender, to fruit flavors, and I also noticed gluten-free and no sugar added flavors on the menu. The vegan flavors are one dollar extra, which was a bummer, but worth it for how delicious this dairy free treat was! I already want to come back before the warm weather is over to try their other dairy free flavors. Everyone working there was friendly and offered samples. Gold Spoon is a Cincy gem that I desperately need more people to know about. They do unique small batches that are just divine. On this particular visit I came because I saw them post they had Cannoli ice cream. That is my favorite all time flavor but I have never found it outside of NY. This was perfection. It was even better than I could have hoped even included crunch shell in the mix. The inside is bright and has plenty of tables. All the staff here is always sweet and helpful. We were the only people in the store and the employees were more than willing to give us some samples, which was good as we did not prefer the ice cream made with coconut milk (I imagine a great choice for those with allergies though). I absolutely love the ambiance of the shop, and the Summit Park area is a perfect place to enjoy ice cream, in general. We were immediately greeted as we walked in by three of the friendliest servers and offered to sample any of the flavors. One of my favorite flavors, coconut chip, was not available, so the server suggested I try the vegan chocolate- chocolate chip because it is made with coconut milk. Typically, I find chocolate ice cream to be boring. However, this vegan version was game-changing. The coconut milk was well pronounced and made made my taste buds sing. I decided to order a milkshake prepared with both pistachio and vegan chocolate ice cream. OMGOODNESS! It was so good.
