This may or may not be my favorite hard ice cream in Cincy. Yep, I said it. Gauntlet thrown. Set back off the main road in Montgomery this is a quaint and nostalgic location. It has the great vibes of an old time soda fountain shop. There are tables inside for eating, and benches outside. My go to flavor, always, is the Banana Chip on a sugar cone. This ice cream is the real deal, because I would not be accepting any fake banana flavor. I really like that the chip pieces are small, as opposed to large chunks. The base is creamy and indulgent. Now the part that struck me the most was history! This place has been around since 1908. They've got the history shared on the walls. You see the history in the space with the way the ice cream dishes are set up and the way you order. It is absolutely gorgeous. It adds to the beauty of the ice cream. We got the fruit salad sundae. The workers were really helpful and patient, giving us extra bowls and spoons, letting our kids sample, etc. As usual, I had to get the strawberry whipped cream. The first experience I had with Aglamesis was through some memorable chocolate wedding favors. Having had been a big fan of the chocolate, and I decided that I wanted to check out the ice cream for myself. Though Graeter's is the more recognizable name for ice cream in the area, Aglamesis will always be my go-to choice. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cincinnati. The first time I visited, I was impressed with the charming, old-fashioned look. In addition to the inviting throwback look, everyone is always friendly and welcoming. They serve their milkshakes with the added option of whipped cream and butter cookies. These cookies are embossed with the words "Yes", "No" or "Maybe". Very cute! My personal favorite is their coffee-flavored ice cream. With that being said, I have since found that you can't go wrong with whatever flavor you choose. If ice cream isn't what you are in the mood for, there are several other options to satisfy your sweet tooth as well. read more

If it's one thing I'm a sucker for, it's an old school ice cream parlor. I will seriously go out of my way to find them in any city where I'm at. I am from Cleveland and usually stack up all to Malley's for a comparison. Aglamesis does not disappoint. I've been to this location twice during my time. My uncle used to live near Montgomery and he'd take us here after dinner at Montgomery Inn. On our recent visit, I found the servers to be friendly and accommodating. We had a party of 6 and although the tables only seat 4 (and explicitly say not to move the tables), one of the workers generously offered to move two tables together for us. The inside plays old school music from the Traditional Era. It makes you feel like you've transported back to simpler times. The Victorian vibes, light shade of pink and marble tabletops are all classic added touches. They have a generous menu of various sundae options and classic ice cream flavors. If you take a gander around, they also have an assortment of chocolates. I got a Carmel covered marshmallow and it was delicious! I forget what the sundae I got was called, but it had a brownie, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and caramel on top. It came out in a classic glass dish-- I love that elevated feel! It was fantastic and the perfect portion size! Everyone in our party agreed that this is some of the best ice cream they've had (even my grandpa and he's a tough critic!). All told, I wish I lived closer so I could visit Aglamesis more often. It is somewhere I'd definitely recommend going out of your way for. read more

Went to the Main Street Hamilton location on 12/21/2024. What a disappointment. $5.65 for 2 dips of ice cream that anywhere else would have been a baby cone. Tried the banana choclate sundae and one of their seasonal peach ice cream in a waffle cone. The peach ice cream was super fresh with balanced sweetness. I am so glad I chose this one. The sundae was equally tasty; with coffee ice cream and choclate layer on the top. If you're a coffee & choclate fan - this one is for you :). Hindsight is 20/20, and having completed our visit, I'm pretty sure we should've treated it similarly to any other table service restaurant. I thought it was the cutest, very pink, sweet shop and loved it. I usually take it as a good sign when there is grave traffic or even a line at a place like this. Quality brings people coming back and it was evident they do so. I got talk scopes of ice cream, cinnamon and butterscotch. They two flavors paired well together and seriously bursted with flavor. I loved the ice cream here at Aglamesis. I ordered a scoop of Double chocolate chip & mocha chocolate chip ice cream. The ice cream had a good flavor to it and the best part about the ice cream is that the chocolate chips are finely chopped. The staff were friendly and patient. The aren't currently offering dine in due to covid ( as of December 2020) The ice cream place is located in a plaza and there is a lot of parking space available. When you step inside you feel like you stepped back in time with the decor, the vintage apron's, nice hometown feel, wonderful costumer service, and the history of the place. It is family owned and one of the workers offered to shared the history with us and we gladly listen. They have table service, but we decided to get our order to go since we had to be someplace. We got a regular sized pumpkin spice ice cream soda to share, she gave us two straws and two spoons in the cup since we were sharing. It had two scoops of vanilla ice cream, soda water, and pumpkin spice flavored syrup, it was so good. I'm glad we shared, since the regular was very large! They also had samples of chocolate covered pretzels, they were so crunchy and fresh. They also gave us a sample of a non-pareils, a wafer of chocolate with snow-capped sugar beads. Chocolate good! I've lived in Cincinnati for a long time and, believe it or not, I had never had Aglamesis Brothers ice cream until this weekend. The small storefront in Montgomery is filled with antique vibes. When you walk through the front door, you'll instantly feel as though you've stepped into a dollhouse. We went up to the counter but, to our surprise, we were told to have a seat and that there would be full table service. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered a Swiss raspberry sundae (chocolate ice cream with raspberry whipped cream). The sundae was delicious and the portion was pretty generous (It was enough lactose that i later came to regret eating the whole sundae). Don't ask me to compare it to Graeters, I won't. If you find yourself in Montgomery, definitely stop in and take in all the nostalgic goodness and if you're at all sensitive to lactose like me, maybe consider splitting a sundae to avoid the stomach ache! read more
