Super cool discovery! And we went there exclusively for the Bold Face cone, a soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone with caramel and chocolate sauces, chocolate chips and sprinkles and 23 karat gold leaf! The size was massive (as it is also the price though - almost 20$ for one, so definitely one can be shared between two people!). The spot has a nice outside patio with benches, and the service is just through a window. Worth to try, even just for the regular ice cream. read more

To be honest, we were pretty let down after reading all the reviews hyping this place up. We dont live close to Bold Face and it was on the opposite side of town, but after reading all the reviews, we decided to try it out. My Dad got the chocolate soft serve dipped in chocolate, my mom got pistachio dipped in chocolatw, and I decided to something new and get blueberry dipped in blue raspberry. The only person out of the 3 of us to enjoy her icecream was my mom, who loved the pistachio. We all agreed the dip was not great, my blue raspberry dip was inedible and I ended up picking off the dip as it tasted like flavorless candle wax. My Dad and I both agreed the soft serve lack flavor. The price for all 3 soft serves came to $16.50 too, which seems a pricey compared to some of the other soft serve places weve been to this summer. read more

Freshen up those taste buds because you about to get a flavor explosion. These guys at the Bold Face Dairy Bar really know what they are doing when it comes to hot dogs.... Yes I said hot dogs. My wife and two kids went here the other night and every one left happy. The Price Hill dog was a great homage to the area and also tasted DELICIOUS! The PBJ Dog was destroyed by my 3 year old son and my daughter couldn't get enough of the ice cream. Talk about a great addition to the neighborhood and a awesome place to bring your family for a snack or a sweet treat. Looking forward to many more days on the back patio enjoying my sweet treats and specialty hot dogs. read more

It's good. It's open late. It closes for the season at the end of October - so get there quick!!! I tried the cardamon soft serve. It was delicate and subtle and delicious. I would definitely get it again, but maybe with a topping. Speaking of which, they no longer have housemade whipped cream, but they do use a nice high quality one. All the other reviews are spot on: service is friendly; you do have to wait a bit; menu can be a little hard to decipher; great outdoor space or a take-away/walk-up window make it super easy to drop by and grab a cup, cone or shake. read more

Let me open with this: I got purple/lavender soft serve with rainbow sprinkles served from a building with turret... It was like a dairy delight from a fairy tale fit for a prince(ss)! *drops voice down an octave* Joking aside, Bold Face is easily my new favorite ice cream bar. They have vegan and gluten-free homemade popsicles (pomegranate, strawberry lemonade today) and a variety of soft serve mix-ins. Notable are cardamom, pistachio and lavender flavors. They have a specialty shake/malt with bourbon too! (it's flavoring and non-alcoholic). Not only do they have very reasonable prices ($1 kids servings) and hipster offerings, the location is really unique. It's in the same building as BLOC so you can also feed your coffee addiction in one trip. The building has some cool architectural character (it's the old Mason Lodge) and while you cannot go inside there's a patio with outdoor seating. Caveat: there's only one shaded area and the seating is covered in mirror-like metal which will remind you of burning your legs on playground equipment as a child. Urban exploration idea: come to Price Hill, check out Bold Face and BLOC and swing over for a panoramic view of Cincinnati from Olden View Park! Your Instagram followers will thank you... read more

I was very impressed with all of the ice cream options at this fairly new ice cream joint! What I ordered: I got a small lavender cone which was pretty and the flavor was light and sweet. My boyfriend got a small chai cone. His was also good! They boast a lot of unique flavors and they have many seasonal ice creams. (We got a taste of the peach ice cream, which we also really enjoyed.) There is plenty of outdoor seating. I wish there was someplace to sit inside because our ice cream melted so quickly! read more

My husband and I were out riding we decided to try a new place to grab a tasty ice cream and this was 4 plus stars so we decided to try this place out. My husband ordered a chocolate ice cream with mint swirl topped in a waffle cone the flavor was pretty solid i ordered a chocolate vanilla swirl with coconut flakes and candied pecans was tasty with the pecans and coconut but the ice cream was pretty standard. i think the next time I'll get a swirl of flavor added to the ice cream hopefully it will be a little more flavorful after all the toppings are gone. I will say the staff was so friendly and nice really enjoyed our visit can't wait to go back and try something new! read more

I'm sad I don't have any pictures, but when I tell you I was shocked at how good this soft serve was, it's the truth. The area it's in is quiet, but the flavors are not. They have very quirky and fun soft serve. I just got swirl. It was amazing. SO creamy and flavorful. I read it's that way because of the amount of fat content? Regardless, delicious. They close at the end of Oct which is a bummer but it hasn't stopped me from visiting them as often as possible. A must try! read more

I freaking love this place. There's these two girls that work there (I can't remember their names but I think one of them is Eva?) and they are so helpful, fun, and sweet. I asked them a thousand questions about the ice cream and different toppings and they were informative and seemed happy to be talking to me. I asked them to surprise me and they made gave me the most delicious ice cream ever. I think it was like cardamom flavored with cookie dough and chocolate chips. Anyway I've been back like twice already and it's really high quality and fairly priced so definitely go!! read more

My friends and I went and all got flurries. The ice cream itself is very thick and creamy, best in cincinnati by far. The only issue was the flurries were not fully mixed, the toppings and flavor were at the bottom. We had a large group so I understand. Maybe try a cup with toppings. Still, amazing ice cream and super unique flavors. read more

This checks most things off the list, so it's worth the drive up to East Price Hill: * Friendly, patient staff with great recommendations * Neighborhood spot with great views of downtown * Unique, refreshing flavors mixed with ice cream classics (turtle sundae) * Appropriate sizes for kids and adults alike We enjoyed their patio seating next to the building, and the kids loved the classic vanilla and chocolate. They have homemade whip cream and peanut butter dipped cones. I had to try the lavender milkshake. I asked what it tasted like. She said "lavender." Now I know - and that fun summer flavor does not disappoint. It felt lighter and refreshing than the candy bar creations you typically find. Try lavender! Next time we are going to try the Bold Face Cone, but they sold out of the gold leaves for the cone the night before. read more

Sweet little ice cream shop in the incline district of price hill. They have many options and great customer service at their walk-up window! They also have lots of outdoor seating for those who want to stay and enjoy their sweet treats! The lady taking our order let us know they even have new sugar free popsicles their selling for those who can't have / don't eat sugar- so there is something for everyone!! Make sure to stop by after grabbing a coffee at bloc or food at the incline house - it really hits the spot! read more

Great ice cream shop! They have really unique flavors - my favorite in particular is the cardamom flavor mixed with vanilla. The ice cream is very creamy - they told us it's cause of the high percent of fat in the dairy which is why it tastes so much better than your normal soft serve ice cream. They give cups, cones and even can do dips with the cones! They have a really cute seating area right outdoor to the window that you place orders. It's really nice with lights and greenery - awesome place for some cute pictures too. read more

I'm not a huge fan of soft serve but I must admit The Bold Face Dairy is delicious! I've now been twice and tried a few things. The first time I went I had vanilla soft serve with chocolate chip cookie dough on top. It was good. The dough pieces tasted a little fake but it was ok. The second time I went, I went with my kids and husband. We all had something different. I had The Bold Face Dairy Cone, my husband had the lavender soft serve and the kids had chocolate and vanilla. You can never go wrong with chocolate and vanilla. Surprisingly the lavender was amazing and just had a great flavor. It wasn't overpowering and it was well balanced with lavender and sweet flavor. Now the star of the show was the Bold Face Dairy Cone. It consisted of a waffle cone, ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips and 23 karat gold flakes! Talk about the diva of all ice cream cones! It was very good, like great! I enjoyed all the flavors and the toppings added for crunch! This was hands down my favorite! I would certainly come back for this gone again! It was certainly a treat! The staff is also nice. I have only dealt with the manager, Lisa, and she has always been nice and cool! Great customer service! read more

Nice little walk up ice cream shop. Typical soft serve with a short menu of flavors and toppings. I found the cardamom on the flavor menu interesting. The shakes are thick and creamy served in a decent size foam cup. Their outdoor seating area has plenty of tables and a small gazebo for shade seekers. The line was long, which I didn't mind. However, the line also took a very long time move. It took 20 minutes to get to the window before we could even place our oder. Otherwise a great experience. read more

My wife and I dropped by tonight and while we loved the ice cream and options, the service is what really steals the show. Where was this place when I lived on the west side? I had the pleasure of devouring a Bourbon Pecan Shake and recommend it wholeheartedly. There was actually about a 1/4 cup of pecans at the bottom of the cup when I finished. Wow! I was tempted to try the $14! cone with gold flakes but decided the BPS was the right choice. Oh a whim leaving a restaurant after dinner we looked online for some dessert. We stopped by this walk up dairy bar and WOW! - the ambiance is adorable. Great space with lots of outdoor seating and great lighting for when it gets dark! - the menu is big with lots of combinations! The employee helping us was super patient offering lots of suggestions and was so friendly. We really appreciate such friendly service! - we both got a flurry. We had two mix ins without an additional charge and the mix ins were generous! - the ice cream.... We both just sat there trying to describe it... creamy but light, thick but fluffy. I often go for a flurry and the mix in is the star. I'm already excited to go back for a classic vanilla cone. The ice cream is phenomenal. - high quality ice cream for a great price. Super happy we found this gem and will absolutely be back! Did I mention? Yeah the ice cream is awesome. Go try it! read more

A very interesting unique concept! You order through a window and they have two flavors of soft serve vanilla and chocolate and then you can do a twist or add flavors to them and/or toppings! I would have given them a five star but we had to wait a little longer for our order as their vanilla machine was acting up. It's located right down the street from the Incline Public House so we enjoyed an excellent meal there and then we went to The Bold Face Dairy Bar for tasty dessert! They have a very large outdoor area to eat in with lots of picnic table seating. We tried the vanilla soft serve ice cream with the pistachio flavor, bourbon barrel stout flavor and the lavender flavor and they were all delicious! The lavender was amazing and it was our overall family favorite! The bourbon barrel stout in my opinion needed more of a stronger flavoring as I really could not identify that flavor and I enjoy bourbon barrel stout beer. The pistachio was a delicious choice also! read more

Really can't recommend this place enough. The ice cream quality is unbelievable. I've never had a frozen treat that creamy and delicious. I got the lavender flavor added to my soft serve and it was SO good. The staff is wonderful. They're helpful, quick, and kind. And gave great recommendations. It was raining while I was there, so I didn't get to try the seating area, but it looked just delightful. We went inside Bloc to eat. A word of caution if you get something with sea salt in it - the flavor is great, but ask for it "light" since it will sink to the bottom and you'll have some brackish melted ice cream at the end. read more

Since you can't try any of the flavors I asked the employee their favorite flavor and went with chai. It is literally just chai powder mixed into ice cream on the spot. It was gritty and unappealing. All of the seating is in the sun without any umbrellas. read more

I arrived at 8:30 today...and it's closed. Google, yelp, and their own sign says closed at 10... no sign or anything saying why they're closed now. At least have a sign or something! Please update your hours then. Very disappointed, and I want gas money back lol read more

Decided to stop by at the end of dinner after seeing people walking around with ice cream. The woman behind the window was so kind and friendly. She asked about the occasion (my birthday) and then continued to chat as she was making our shake. When she was done, she put a candle in the straw hole and lit it for me to blow out. That was the only candle I blew out today and it was the perfect end to my 20th. I wish I had gotten her name! Oh, and the ice cream was pretty good too and for a great price! read more

I stumbled upon Bold Face Dairy Bar accidentally after I ate at the Public Incline House. I was walking down the street to my car and I noticed a small window -- I saw ice cream and could not resist on a 94 degree day. I ordered a small Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Flurrie and was not disappointed. It was basically like a McDonald's McFlurry but SOOOOOO much better. The ice cream was absolutely fresh, creamy, and delicious and the peanut butter cups only made it that much better. I am so glad I found this adorable spot! I do wish they had more signage around though so that more people would know it is there. I had no idea I was missing out on this local ice cream joint! read more

Great little dairy bar. I drove by it once and didn't see it. It is right behind the coffee shop. The ice cream is creamy and thick. Went here after dinner on our first night here in Cincinnati, and it definitely did not disappoint! Their ice cream is soft serve, vanilla, chocolate and swirl and they have a bunch of flavors you can add in to make it your own as well as toppings. Delicious, unusual soft serve flavors you aren't going to find at your average ice cream place. From Lavender to cardamom to blueberry and mint, you'll still find traditional flavors as well as mix-ins to make your own flurrie. I'm partial to the mint, but everything I've had has been good. The flavors aren't overpowering or fake tasting. I believe they use all natural ingredients. The staff is always super friendly too! read more
