To be honest, we were pretty let down after reading all the reviews hyping this place up. We dont live close to Bold Face and it was on the opposite side of town, but after reading all the reviews, we decided to try it out. My Dad got the chocolate soft serve dipped in chocolate, my mom got pistachio dipped in chocolatw, and I decided to something new and get blueberry dipped in blue raspberry. The only person out of the 3 of us to enjoy her icecream was my mom, who loved the pistachio. We all agreed the dip was not great, my blue raspberry dip was inedible and I ended up picking off the dip as it tasted like flavorless candle wax. My Dad and I both agreed the soft serve lack flavor. The price for all 3 soft serves came to $16.50 too, which seems a pricey compared to some of the other soft serve places weve been to this summer. read more

It's good. It's open late. It closes for the season at the end of October - so get there quick!!! I tried the cardamon soft serve. It was delicate and subtle and delicious. I would definitely get it again, but maybe with a topping. Speaking of which, they no longer have housemade whipped cream, but they do use a nice high quality one. Let me open with this: I got purple/lavender soft serve with rainbow sprinkles served from a building with turret... It was like a dairy delight from a fairy tale fit for a prince(ss)! *drops voice down an octave* Joking aside, Bold Face is easily my new favorite ice cream bar. They have vegan and gluten-free homemade popsicles (pomegranate, strawberry lemonade today) and a variety of soft serve mix-ins. Notable are cardamom, pistachio and lavender flavors. They have a specialty shake/malt with bourbon too! (it's flavoring and non-alcoholic). Not only do they have very reasonable prices ($1 kids servings) and hipster offerings, the location is really unique. It's in the same building as BLOC so you can also feed your coffee addiction in one trip. The building has some cool architectural character (it's the old Mason Lodge) and while you cannot go inside there's a patio with outdoor seating. Caveat: there's only one shaded area and the seating is covered in mirror-like metal which will remind you of burning your legs on playground equipment as a child. I was very impressed with all of the ice cream options at this fairly new ice cream joint! What I ordered: I got a small lavender cone which was pretty and the flavor was light and sweet. My boyfriend got a small chai cone. His was also good! They boast a lot of unique flavors and they have many seasonal ice creams. My husband and I were out riding we decided to try a new place to grab a tasty ice cream and this was 4 plus stars so we decided to try this place out. My husband ordered a chocolate ice cream with mint swirl topped in a waffle cone the flavor was pretty solid i ordered a chocolate vanilla swirl with coconut flakes and candied pecans was tasty with the pecans and coconut but the ice cream was pretty standard. i think the next time I'll get a swirl of flavor added to the ice cream hopefully it will be a little more flavorful after all the toppings are gone. I will say the staff was so friendly and nice really enjoyed our visit can't wait to go back and try something new! read more

I freaking love this place. There's these two girls that work there (I can't remember their names but I think one of them is Eva?) and they are so helpful, fun, and sweet. Great ice cream shop! They have really unique flavors - my favorite in particular is the cardamom flavor mixed with vanilla. The ice cream is very creamy - they told us it's cause of the high percent of fat in the dairy which is why it tastes so much better than your normal soft serve ice cream. I'm not a huge fan of soft serve but I must admit The Bold Face Dairy is delicious! I've now been twice and tried a few things. The first time I went I had vanilla soft serve with chocolate chip cookie dough on top. It was good. The dough pieces tasted a little fake but it was ok. The second time I went, I went with my kids and husband. We all had something different. I had The Bold Face Dairy Cone, my husband had the lavender soft serve and the kids had chocolate and vanilla. You can never go wrong with chocolate and vanilla. Surprisingly the lavender was amazing and just had a great flavor. It wasn't overpowering and it was well balanced with lavender and sweet flavor. Now the star of the show was the Bold Face Dairy Cone. It consisted of a waffle cone, ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips and 23 karat gold flakes! Talk about the diva of all ice cream cones! It was very good, like great! I enjoyed all the flavors and the toppings added for crunch! This was hands down my favorite! The shakes are thick and creamy served in a decent size foam cup. Their outdoor seating area has plenty of tables and a small gazebo for shade seekers. The line was long, which I didn't mind. A very interesting unique concept! You order through a window and they have two flavors of soft serve vanilla and chocolate and then you can do a twist or add flavors to them and/or toppings! I would have given them a five star but we had to wait a little longer for our order as their vanilla machine was acting up. They have a very large outdoor area to eat in with lots of picnic table seating. Really can't recommend this place enough. The ice cream quality is unbelievable. I've never had a frozen treat that creamy and delicious. I got the lavender flavor added to my soft serve and it was SO good. The staff is wonderful. They're helpful, quick, and kind. And gave great recommendations. It was raining while I was there, so I didn't get to try the seating area, but it looked just delightful. We went inside Bloc to eat. A word of caution if you get something with sea salt in it - the flavor is great, but ask for it "light" since it will sink to the bottom and you'll have some brackish melted ice cream at the end. read more

I stumbled upon Bold Face Dairy Bar accidentally after I ate at the Public Incline House. I was walking down the street to my car and I noticed a small window -- I saw ice cream and could not resist on a 94 degree day. I ordered a small Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Flurrie and was not disappointed. It was basically like a McDonald's McFlurry but SOOOOOO much better. The ice cream was absolutely fresh, creamy, and delicious and the peanut butter cups only made it that much better. I am so glad I found this adorable spot!
