a hot dog with sauerkraut and carrots
Ray G.

Meh. I had the Comrade Kraut. The dog was barely above room temperature and had no snap whatsoever. I agree with another review that suggested they sear the dog. At least that would compensate for the lack of snap. The kraut lacked the zing of a good kraut. The decent pretzel roll and friendly staff kept me from rating 1 star. I expected better franks from a business with "frank" in their name. It would be a vast improvement if they used better quality franks and actually heated them.

Quite Frankly was a breath of fresh air for me. I recently was diagnosed celiac and found that dairy had to be eliminated from my diet as well. As someone that loves food, beer, and trying new places, this was difficult. Quite Frankly was at Cincy Beer Fest and I was going to get just a hot dog with non-dairy toppings, but after talking with the lovely folks that were staffing the booth, I found out the pretzel bun is gluten free (pretzel bun! GLUTEN FREE! WHAT!!) and they had non-dairy cheese! They even let me know what hot dogs would be safe for me by substituting the pretzel bun bun if it didn't have it. I got The Pumba (1/4lb. beef frank, topped w/savory pulled pork, homemade applebutter, tangy Carolina BBQ sauce and chopped onion) - it was out of this world! So, so good. You would never know the pretzel bun is gluten free, but it is and it's delicious. I was able to eat safely for a change and not get sick after. Definite recommendation from me if you can't have gluten or dairy (or have a wheat or dairy allergy). I was surprised they don't promote this, but just ask and they are happy to accommodate! Great folks! If I ever see their truck or booth out and about, you better believe I will stop and get a meal!

The flavors were good but the whole thing could have been greatly improved if the dog was cut in half and seared. As is the dog was too bit to get a bit with the dog and toppings and everything kept falling off. The boiled dog was just meh. A little sear would help it quite a bit. As it it was ok. Interesting concept but didn't wow me.

a food truck with a menu on the side

Saw this truck at Union Center Food Truck Rally, and I only had their Riley Bites, so I can't really give a detailed review but.... The Riley Bites were delicious! My only complaint was the wait! There was literally no one in front of me or behind me and it took nearly 10 minutes to get my food.

Tried the Darth Reuben and it was out of this world! A few friends got the different hot dogs and they were ranting and raving about them.

Advertise full sandwiches on the truck and only give a half. "The Kraut" had cole slaw, not sauerkraut. Overall wasnt worth the money!

Owners are great, very friendly folks. Delicious hotdogs and crazy toppings, I agree. Very different from what I've seen. Keep it up!

Amazing toppings. Great quality hot dogs, my favorite is the buffalo chicken topped beef weiner.

Disappointed, serving size was ridiculously small for the price and the white chicken chili is just OK

Acknowledge of allergies, then the Pumba with the Naked Tots blew my mind with the various, but simple toppings.

[TLDR]A food truck offering some fairly unique and creative sandwiches and wonderful sweet potato…read morefries[/TLDR] The thing I just don't have figured out about local food trucks is the pricing. You see, a lot of folks who want to open a restaurant start with a food truck these days because (in part) the costs of entry and operation associated with brick and mortar are much higher. So logically, given lower entry and operating costs, the price of a meal at a food truck should be lower than for the equivalent item at a brick-n-mortar eatery. But this rarely if ever seems to be the case locally, and indeed, everything seems to be a dollar or two more expensive than I'd expect at a brick and mortar at this food truck given my visit to the Screaming Goat. I will say their menu is generally more ambitious than most food trucks I have encountered. Many local food trucks feature as few as 3-4 items with a very simple ingredient list. Many of the dozen or so menu items here have a dozen or so ingredients, and are generally unique combinations of flavors one is not likely to find elsewhere. The Mac Daddy ($8) is one of the least complex items - basically a grilled cheese with bacon and mac-n-cheese - and I have heard considerable good word-of-mouth on this one, but it came off as plain and bland to me. The bacon was there texturally, but somehow lent no flavor to the sandwich. I didn't pull off the bread to check for the presence or absence of cheese, but if some was there, I can assure you I didn't taste any. The mac was itself very bland, with almost no cheese flavor when sampled by itself, and unfortunately overcooked to mushiness. I think this would also have been a bit better if the bread had been grilled a tad longer, but as you can see from the picture it only reached a light blond color. I also wish they'd have cut the sandwich in half for easier handling. Now, before you ask me if I'd like some cheese with my whine (and the answer to that will always be an unqualified YES!), let me say that the "Crackhead" fries ($3) were by far the better of the two items I have tried there. I love sweet potato fries, and the marriage of honey and whatever slightly caliente spice mix they use was very, very good; with the only problem being that there wasn't much of it and what was there was not well distributed - strong flavors on one fry while another was almost entirely unseasoned. If all the fries were seasoned properly, I'd call this a 5 star item. One other minor issue - these were served in an open fry boat like I was going to sit down there, but there are no tables. Should have been packaged in a manner more suited to takeout. I was told that the menu was seasonal, so once summer winds down the menu may well be partly or even entirely different. Service was affable and quick. I forgot to ask if they take credit cards, but will do so on my next visit, where I will ask for extra seasoning on those fries :-) 4 stars for the fries, 2 stars for the mac daddy sandwich and other issues = 3 stars overall

They have a cute food truck with their name/logo all over it. They even have a tv that you can watch while you wait for your food. Oh yeah, everything is cooked to order. The owners are very friendly too! I started by eating a few fries on the way home then I pulled over in a parking lot and destroyed the burger. So glad I got two! You can get the whole lobster tail on the burger or get it cut up to have a piece of lobster with every bite. I'll be back soon. I want to try more stuff on the menu. But please try that lobster burger with Cajun fries. Simply amazing!
