We were at Summit Park for the annual CFTA Food Truck Festival, and this year and I wanted to give Quite Frankly a try. I saw on their menu that they had a few options that included almond butter. They told me that the Pumba was award winning, so I went with that option. I loved the mixture of different flavors. The pretzel bun really made it complete. The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics continues to expand their Gridiron Tailgate offerings before each home football game this year. Brand new this year is the Bearcats Music Festival with live music starting two hours before kickoff for the first five home games. In addition to the music, additional food truck offerings are now located adjacent to the stage. Just before a recent game I stopped by the Quite Frankly food truck for something quick to eat before heading into the stadium for the game. This food truck has been around for at least a couple of years, but this was my first time trying it. I'm not big on hot dogs, so I was glad to see that they have added some sandwich offerings to their menu this year. I easily settled on the melted pig sandwich, a three cheese grilled cheese with the addition of BBQ pulled pork and had it served on dark rye ($7). The sandwich was prepared fresh in just a few minutes and was served hot. These aren't large sandwiches like you would find from C'est Cheese, so I was a little surprised by the cost. However the sandwich tasted very good and was actually more filling that I would have initially thought. Overall I would definitely order from Quite Frankly again. read more

Quite Frankly was a breath of fresh air for me. I recently was diagnosed celiac and found that dairy had to be eliminated from my diet as well. As someone that loves food, beer, and trying new places, this was difficult. Quite Frankly was at Cincy Beer Fest and I was going to get just a hot dog with non-dairy toppings, but after talking with the lovely folks that were staffing the booth, I found out the pretzel bun is gluten free (pretzel bun! GLUTEN FREE! WHAT!!) and they had non-dairy cheese! They even let me know what hot dogs would be safe for me by substituting the pretzel bun bun if it didn't have it. I got The Pumba (1/4lb. beef frank, topped w/savory pulled pork, homemade applebutter, tangy Carolina BBQ sauce and chopped onion) - it was out of this world! So, so good. You would never know the pretzel bun is gluten free, but it is and it's delicious. I was able to eat safely for a change and not get sick after. Definite recommendation from me if you can't have gluten or dairy (or have a wheat or dairy allergy). I was surprised they don't promote this, but just ask and they are happy to accommodate! Great folks! If I ever see their truck or booth out and about, you better believe I will stop and get a meal! read more

Meh. I had the Comrade Kraut. The dog was barely above room temperature and had no snap whatsoever. I agree with another review that suggested they sear the dog. At least that would compensate for the lack of snap. The kraut lacked the zing of a good kraut. The decent pretzel roll and friendly staff kept me from rating 1 star. I expected better franks from a business with "frank" in their name. It would be a vast improvement if they used better quality franks and actually heated them. read more

Advertise full sandwiches on the truck and only give a half. "The Kraut" had cole slaw, not sauerkraut. Overall wasnt worth the money!

The flavors were good but the whole thing could have been greatly improved if the dog was cut in half and seared. As is the dog was too bit to get a bit with the dog and toppings and everything kept falling off. The boiled dog was just meh. A little sear would help it quite a bit. As it it was ok. This food truck was at my work for a lunch visit. Being a "Frank" food truck I was expecting more hot dog options. There were three on the menu, but nothing grabbed my interest. There also were various sandwiches and grilled cheese options. I opted in for the White Chicken Chili. That was DELICIOUS! The owners were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the menu. Some of the combinations are not food pairings most would put together, but from what my co-workers said they tasted good. It's worth trying, but I just personally wished for some more hot dog options. read more

The first time I ordered at Quite Frankly I was expecting a good hot dog. What I got was above and beyond what I was hoping for. Everything is SOOO GOOD. Eh, where to begin?? Let me warn you, this will probably be a long review. But it's going to be long because I want to be thorough. If I'm going to give a place just ONE star, I feel it deserves an explanation. I purchased a Groupon for Quite Frankly & was excited to give it a try. I've been following their schedule & so far their locations have not worked for us but because our Groupon expired soon, we decided to hit this Clifton stop for dinner. Clifton. We live in Milford. And went to Clifton just for Quite Frankly. My mom lives in Norwood so we swung by & picked her up to join us. Not that it has anything to do with the service but to be able to take my mom out takes some planning. So I made sure to check and double check their schedule. It said they would be in this particular location from 5-9pm We arrived right about 5pm. The truck was there & we asked if they were open. We were told they were still setting up but it would be "20 minutes tops." No problem. We walked back to the front of the Clifton Cultural Center and enjoyed what they had to offer. We were in no way 'timing' 20 minutes as we didn't want to rush them but when we strolled back around, we found the truck crew all standing outside the front of the truck chatting. No problem. We browsed their menu, talking about what we might order. After discussing their menu and what we might order, the crew still continued to stand in front of the truck yucking it up even though they clearly saw they had customers excited to order. We decided to go in doors and explore to make our wait a bit cooler. Back outside, we found the crew STILL hanging out front of the truck, having a great time. I guess what I don't get is this: If I owned a small business that was customer service related.....and I needed the social media exposure and the word of mouth exposure (and maybe they don't) I would really like to think I wouldn't be leaning against my business investment, chatting. I'd like to think I'd be greeting each customer, very eager for their dollar. This evening, I didn't feel Quite Frankly cared about me, my dollar or customer service. Their site said they would be open at 5pm. They opened at least 50 min. after that. And not because they needed set up time. Only because they hung out and laughed. While customers waited. And even when they opened..........let's talk about the food: Daughter got the plain dog.....disappointment is an understatement.....she said she could get the same thing at Kroger Mom got the Darth......this is a reuben. Her comments were: not enough meat and the meat she had was chewy. But!! She did say there was mass potential!! Pay attention to the meat and the customer service....... I got the Granny Brie........it was ok. Very much like what I make at home. I didn't leave the truck feeling like I just had dinner. Fortunately, through Groupon we didn't pay full price. If I had paid full menu prices I would have been even more disappointed. Let's just bring this to an end. Decent place to get a hot dog from. They have an interesting selection of toppings (some I might not think to put on a hot dog) and names to go along with them. I don't remember the names of the ones I tried but I liked both, one more than the other. My favorite was the hot dog that came with sauerkraut and mustard on a pretzel bun. It was pretty standard street food hot dog style toppings but the sauerkraut was definitely better than usual and I do like pretzel buns a lot. The other one I tried had white bean chili and cheese on it and it was good but not great. I would eat them again if they were around and I was hungry but I don't think I would seek them out or pick them over other food trucks. If you like hot dogs check them out for sure, definitely better than the standard. I'll just admit that I'm not a huge hot dog fan. read more

Wow to say I am disappointed would be an understatement. This food truck came to our office. I am not a big fan of all beef hot dogs so I got their naked taters, which were $3 and I paid the extra $1 for the bacon and cheese. So basically I paid $4 for less than a whole red potato with may a tablespoon of cheese and a teaspoon of bacon bits. While they tasted ok...the price was a total rip off. if you are going to charge $3 for some boiled red potatoes them at least make the portion a decent size. read more

I've visited their food truck 4 times and have yet to be disappointed in anything I've ordered, though I must admit that after ordering The Pumba once, I have yet to order anything else. If a hotdog with unique toppings is what you're after, look no further than Quite Frankly. They have all kinds of choices! I was curious about the hotdog with almond butter and jelly, but I ended up going with the Fraulein. This was a hotdog on a pretzel bun with apple butter, cabbage, and a little golden barbecue sauce. It was delicious! My only critique would be the bun was a little cold/hard, but I'm sure that had to do with the fact that it was freezing outside the night we got food from here. If there was a way to keep the buns warm/steamed so they were softer, this would have been a 5 star from me! read more

WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THE FOOD TRUCK UNLESS YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO KILL. I ordered a *plain* hot dog at the food truck in Clifton this evening. From the time I put in my order to the time I received the *plain* hot dog was twenty-five (25!) minutes. 25 minutes! Not only was it frustrating to have to wait around (as who knew when they would call my name to announce the *plain* dog was ready) but it caused me to miss the first 15 minutes of the (free) concert I had wanted to attend. The dog was OK, but it was just a dog with no added attractions that would have required time to prepare. This is, quite simply, unacceptable. There are others who won't/don't mind the wait, and I'm happy for them. Everyone has different expectations and mine was that it shouldn't take almost a half an hour to get a plain hot dog. And I was third in line when I arrived at the food truck. It just seemed that 25 minutes for a food truck plain hot dog was ridiculous. I will say that the staff were polite and courteous - no problem with them, but come on - 25 minutes for a food truck plain hot dog? Sorry, but quite frankly, there'll be no more dogs for me from their food truck. read more
