I had high hopes for this place but I probably should've looked at the more recent reviews. I stopped in late afternoon. I settled on the 2 taco meal with the Al pastor and chips. I added guac on. The total with a bottled water was $20 (kinda steep for me). When I got my food, it didn't look the most appetizing....I had only taken two bites and noticed a fly was mixed in my taco. I asked for a refund, which was accepted with no hesitation. The staff was nice but when I got closer up the look of the kitchen was concerning. There was grime on most of the surfaces...stainless steel should shine when it's clean but everything just looked sticky. Needless to say, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Came in for a quick bite before an event with a friend. I got the bistec (steak) taco for $7 and it was very okay. There was a decent amount of meat in the taco which made it more filling but the meat itself was dry and chewy. My friend got the al pastor taco and she said it was so-so. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. These tacos were so good! The meet was sooo well seasoned and succulent. Ordering was pretty easy and the staff were very nice. However, I don't really enjoy eating outside but the inside is not set up for a group to eat inside so I didn't love that. I ordered Jamaica and I felt it wasn't sweet enough. I found Pata Roja by scrolling on Tik Tok a few months ago. Today I ordered 2 chicken tacos, and carne asada. Let me say first, the restaurant is easy to find, clean, service was extraordinarily quick, accurate, and easy. Now the tacos were FIRE, that's colloquial for excellent! Highly recommend the hibiscus tea mixed with lemonade to wash it all down. It took me less than 10 minutes to throw down! Next time I'll be sure to get a picture! read more

This place is an absolute gem. The tacos here are some of the best I've had in Cincinnati! They're packed with flavor. I actually told a friend of mine "I haven't had tacos this good since Mexico City." I visited during Taco Week, and they featured the sweet potato, carnitas, and beef mini tacos, so of course I had to try all three. The sweet potato mini taco was good, but it was even better with the spicy salsa. The carnitas was packed with flavor, but the all star was the beef taco. I had to save that one for last because it was so good! Do not pass up the chips and guac! Whatever seasoning they have on their chips goes perfect with the guacamole. It's a must! I was a fan of Pata Roja back when they were a pop up taco truck behind Bar Saeso, so I've been highly anticipating the opening of their brick and mortar location! They delivered the same delicious tacos I remembered and created a fun space of their own. Service is pretty fast and easy, and while there's not a lot of space inside, they have patio seating that will be great for warmer weather. I'll definitely be back many times! Decided to check out a new place for Taco Week! Have seen this place and have wanted to check it out so this was the perfect time. We got here around 130 pm on Saturday and it was not packed which was nice. We had plenty of seating to choose from and chose to sit outside on the patio as it was a gorgeous fall day. I had no idea there was a taco place on this court street plaza so I definitely recommend checking it out. There's plenty of parking across the street that is metered and on the adjacent streets. Got 1 of each of the taco week specials: Carnitas, beef and sweet potato. They were the perfect size for lunch. I liked the beef one the best. Sweet potatoes was different but I like a lot of spice vs sweetness. This one tasted the best with the red chili de arbol hot sauce. I got a ton of hot sauce on the side, including the chile de arbol and creama Mexicana. The sauces were delicious and I loved having it with the guac too. They should sell bottles of the hot sauce as I would buy it to put on everything! I got a side of guac and chips and the guac was amazing. Very fresh and flavorful without having too much lime. A bit pricey for how much you get at $7 but delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. He told me his recos for the hot sauces and on which taco and said each taco comes with sauces as they are made to be easy to eat in the go with everything in it, which makes sense for a street taco place. The Meh The menu isn't clear on pricing and there are undisclosed fees that left a bad impression. They have a three tacos for $14 on the menu but do not indicate that there's an upcharge if all of the tacos that you are getting are not the same. Why it costs more to spoon two different proteins onto tortillas I will never understand. Additionally, there is 50 cent "packaging and service fee" for carry out, which is an absurdity, and neither disclosed or explained. This wouldn't irritate me so much if the tacos weren't $5 a piece. That cucumber lemonade I told you about? It's also $5, not even 12 ounces, and there are no refills. While the prices and quality are similar to Bakersfield, at least there you get table service and free chips and salsa. Here, they charge you 50¢ for the salsa. Five stars for the food, two stars for the value. If you are on court street, have no car and are fully invested in getting yummy tacos, you could do far worse. However, if you do have transportation, in two minutes you could be at Bakersfield or do even better at Olla Taquiera or Taquiera Cruz in Covington. They make a nice taco, seem like decent people and I hope they succeed- but I'll be surprised if I'm back any time soon, unless you're buying. read more

Hubby and I came here yesterday for a quick lunch. Service was absolutely amazing From the moment we walked in and the food came out super fast. I am not a taco girl, but I'm slowly starting to love birria tacos. Their birria is so fresh and simple, with well seasoned meat, onion and cilantro. Yummy, not super greasy like a lot of other places. And you don't need a lot of stuff on top of it. Most of the other places I've had birria tacos with cheese (which I love) and consommé sauce, but Pata Roja didn't need it! The true star of the show was the churros!!! First and last time visiting Pata Roja. Ordered 5 tacos for takeout: a birria without onions, a pollo with no onions but added cheese and crema, and another birria + two pollo birria with the regular toppings (assuming cheese, onion, and cilantro but it doesn't list anywhere what the tacos come with). Picked it up, took it home and realized all 5 had onions, and the pollo taco had no cheese or crema. Drove all the way back and waited at least 20 minutes for them to be remade. When we got the new tacos we realized the only topping on any of them was cheese; no onions or cilantro on the three regular or crema on the pollo. They told us they don't have crema even though it's available to order on takeout and they charged us for it. At that point it had been forever and we were starving so we just took it. Food was good and they were nice enough to remake it but absolutely not worth the hassle especially since we never actually got what we ordered. read more

Located in vibrant court street with plenty of parking, various restaurants and the center of lots of festivals in Cincinnati. We ordered 3 Al pastor tacos and mixed hibiscus tea/ cucumber lemonade. The tacos were good, great portions, additional sauces were available to dress the tacos. The al pastor had a bit more cinnamon flavor than I've traditionally had before. It's a walk up order restaurant and they were not busy when we arrived so the food was prepared very quickly. Amazing fish tacos! Super clean, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Would have loved to used the outside seating but the sun was beaming. They even have happy hour specials for $1 off tacos and they have shots to add to the amazing juices. Just fine. It must get on everyone's nerves how much I boast about being from LA. But it's afforded me the privilege of knowing good tacos. And these aren't it. I won't even compare it to tacos from LA though, since the ingredients in Cinci are rarely as fresh- it wouldn't be fair. I ordered 3 tacos- pastor, carnitas, and fish. Ordering different protein was an extra dollar, which makes no sense. You're adding an extra dollar for moving from one side of the kitchen to the other? Come on. From worst to best- pastor: dry and too sweet. Pastor is supposed to be juicy and still have flavor in it besides the pineapple. It didn't help that most of the salsas we took were also sweet and one note. I didn't finish this taco. Fish: this was likely my fault since I was an expecting a fluffy beer battered fish taco like the ones back home. It was ok for what it was, nothing to write home about. Carnitas: actually not bad! It could've benefited from a little more salt but it was actually quite juicy. I wouldn't come back here just for this though. I struggle with the fact that many of the taco places I've been to in Cincinnati can not find the right tortilla. It's like they buy the thinnest corn tortilla they can find straight from Kroger. No grease and they never add double tortilla for the durability (and for sopping up whatever falls out). If you're a street taco place you need the double tortilla. Overall it was what I expected. I will say it has a cute interior, which reminded me a lot of a taco place I went to back in San Francisco. Service was fine, but it seems like the girl up front might need some extra hands as the influx of customers prevent her from remembering to give people parts of their order. I would not say it was worth the 40+ dollars it costed us (2 people). Reminds me of the gentrified tacos in Echo Park. IYKYK. I don't think I'll be back, but I'm glad I tried. read more

So for weeks now, I've read that this place is known for their Al Pastor tacos and that they are amazing. Finally tonight, I decided to check them out and was super excited to eat an Al Pastor taco, because they are my favorite. Well...maybe they were having an off night, but everything tasted completely average. I like my tacos simple and classic. I love flavorful meat and/or veggies with onions and cilantro. Tonight I ordered all three of their tacos: Al Pastor, bistec and mushroom. I was glad to see they keep their options simple and the tacos themselves looked delicious. Each taco comes with cheese, onions and cilantro (you have the option to add salsa or $1 guac). Each taco is your standard size portion and the price is a little high, but that's to be expected when dining in OTR. For the veggie taco, the mushrooms were cooked well and juicy, but lacked the flavor punch I was looking for. I found the taco to be a bit dull, but still decent. The bistec taco was my favorite, the meat was cooked well, juicy and well seasoned. I liked the addition of avocado and definitely would order this taco again. Now the Al Pastor... it was such a let down :(. The meat was dry, tough and lacked flavor. I've tried several Al Pastor tacos and would rate this below average compared to what I've had in the past. I'm really hoping this was an off night and will be back at a later time to give their tacos another try. Added the Chile de arbor salsa to the pollo and the chicken was so flavorful. The Pata Roja Verde sauce paired so well with the mushrooms too. It's a small truck so be mindful and be patient with the staff, they are so kind and it really was worth the wait. Currently they're behind one of my favorite wine bars so there are plenty of beverages to sip on while you wait.
