I'm new to Cincinnati so for my birthday I wanted to go out for food somewhere new to me. My husband has good memories of Bakersfield so we went. We mainly just wanted chips and margs. So I'd love to come back for their tacos. But the chips were really good! We had queso and guac, both in point. We shared a pitcher of margaritas which was good! The service was awesome. She even gave me a free shot for my birthday which was unexpected and super kind. I'd absolutely come back. Just a note their menu isn't big and they mainly focus on tacos. Went and grabbed a quick dinner and the food was good as always. We got a total of five tacos for under $30 and chips and dip so I think that's a steal. You can see in my pictures. My wife and I were on vacation in Cincinnati for a long weekend and visited a lot of restaurants, this was our last. I entered the darkish establishment and sat at the bar and the place was already starting to get busy. I ordered a Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA to start and in comes in a smallish glass, but is is delicious and packs a wallop at 9% I was to have one more IPA with my meal, that was equally as good. I got three tacos, which were. Short Rib - Braised short rib, queso fresco, crema, white onion, radish, cilantro Cochinita Pibil - Achiote‑braised pork, black beans, pickled red onion, cilantro, queso fresco Al Pastor - Chile‑marinated pork, pineapple, pickled white onion, cilantro They were all wonderful and juicy and full of flavor. The short rib had a nice little kick to it, not too spicy, but just enough to make you notice. The people around us were ordering lots of margaritas, which looked all good and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Bakersfield is an OTR staple for tacos and margaritas. On my most recent visit, I came for lunch with a group of friends. We ordered pretty much every dip on the menu and shared them all. My favorite was the queso. I also ordered a classic Bakersfield margarita. It is the perfect blend of tangy and sweet. For my lunch I had a fish taco and a short rib taco. They were both delicious. Went to a concert in Cincinnati. This was literally one of the only places still open, not buy much. Everything closes so early in Cincy. The service was super fast. None of this food was made fresh you can tell they just heated it up. However with a little of thier house hot sauce it was good and shockingly flavorable. Definitely a dive bar type situation. We had tickets at Memorial Hall and decided to give Bakersfield OTR a try. The restaurant is in easy walking distance from the theater, so if you're in the mood for tacos... here you go. The restaurant is cute and pretty large, with two rooms that go from the front to the back of the building. We started with chips and guacamole, which was tasty. Our server helped us decide what tacos to try. We each ordered three. All six came out together on one plate. It was difficult to tell which was which and how they synced up with what we ordered. I can't say with certainty what we ordered or which tacos each of us ate, but they were good. I also ordered the Johnny Salad, easily the best thing on the menu. Ordering a salad may some counter intuitive at a taco spot, but this salad was fantastic. I can't recommend it highly enough. I believe I had an ESPRESSO HORCHATA - espolon blanco tequila, licor 43, cold brew, punt e mes, horchata, bitters. It was very tasty indeed. Stopped in here for lunch with the fam. Don't prefer tall chairs and the table for 4 was pretty cramped. Wish we had more space. Server was super friendly though. Prices were reasonable and the cocktails were tasty and not too strong. Guacamole was thick and chunky, which I love, and can't go wrong with queso. Since they were getting chips and dips I only got to try one taco so I wouldn't be over full. Everyone had something different and were happy. I went with shrimp and it was delicious. Went to Bakersfield OTR today for a bachelorette party just for drinks. Keep that in mind for my review. We arrived around 12:30 pm and sat at the bar. The staff at Bakersfield OTR really want to ensure that you have the best experience possible. I really appreciate how much they made us feel welcome. We were not only celebrating a bachelorette but a birthday as well and they treated them to some shots. Such a cute restaurant and drinks were very good. We tried the Honeydew margarita which was not my favorite but after talking to both Holly and David were able to get a drink that we LOVED. I highly recommend the Pineapple margarita. It's so good. 3.5 Stars. Small Tacos - Medium Price. ($4.50 per taco) The Al Pastor is a fantastic taco and I will be recreating at home. The fish taco was also pretty good. Two filled me up - along with chips and salsa - but I wish there was a deal to get 3 tacos for $12 or something similar. The vibes are what you would expect - clean, Mexican bar with booth seating. When I order something online for pick up, I don't need you to gaslight me into your cooking abilities. I don't need you to lie to me about how much time it's going to take for you to cook this food since I'm not sitting there waiting for it. I'm at home comfortable when you lie like Bakersfield does, and say my food will be ready for pick up 10 minutes before it actually is, that pisses me off. (if you're on the side of well, it's 10 minutes and food service. What does it actually matter? Then why doesn't the restaurant be honest with the amount of time it's going to take. It's margarita degrees outside! Being able to go to new restaurants as they open are cool. But being able to visit the OG, and they still deliver is top tier. This is the start of OTR for me. One the first restaurants I visited , no other taco spots were downtown. I wanted that old thing back for taco Tuesday this week. Nothing fancy just good food and good service like it should be. After a busy day of exploring Cincinnati, it was time for a drink and some food. I let Guy Fieri lead the way and ended up at the OTR location of Bakersfield. Super busy with a queue for tables but I was able to get a seat at the bar immediately. Great service there and a full menu, so I'd recommend that for you. Starting off with a plate of chips and salsa, the chips are delicious. Light with salt, served warm and with both red and green salsa. I think there's a hole in the bottom of the bowl because I looked down and they were gone. I'm not sure how that happened! For second course, I got the roasted cauliflower which was awesome. Bathed in queso and some heat from the poblano peppers, it was delicious and quite filling. If there was "healthy" in here, it got swamped by the amazing cheese sauce. Yum! And then third course, a short rib taco. It was insane. Loaded with braised short rib ad absolutely delicious. I nearly forgot the classic margarita served in a Mason jar with a salted rim. Bakersfield always hits! Beautiful Friday night, sat on the patio/sidewalk area outside. Waitress was super friendly and attentive. I've had the Milanesa torta a couple times and this was easily the best one, soft bread, crispy chicken, and fresh salsa verde on the side. Friends had tacos which are always on point, short rib was the crowd favorite. It's a decent place to pick up Americanized tacos in the city. There were plenty of tables available on a nice Sunday afternoon for lunch. Our server was very friendly and quick to get our order. I'd recommend 3 tacos per person. We got the al pastor, crispy shrimp and fish tacos. The al pastor was a little too sweet and missed a smoky chipotle flavor. The fish taco was pretty dry but the slaw did bring the tacos some flavor. The crispy taco was my favorite- the chipotle lime crema brought the taco together. We had a reservation since we were seeing a play nearby - so we were seated immediately. Service - other than the bar - was prompt. We ordered cocktails. Then read over the menu. Ordered an appetizer. Then had it delivered, ate half of it and then ordered our tacos before we ever got our drinks from the bar. But the cocktails were fabulous! Espresso Horchata for my daughter and the Caballero Old Fashioned for me. My daughter was told by a friend that that tacos were tiny. The waitress told us the tacos were tiny before we ordered. Still, we were surprised by how small they really are. We looked at the photos shared in reviews and they're $4.5 each - so, we thought they would be a smaller street taco size. The tacos are brought out on a pizza pan and sat on a raised stand. So, all the photos - including mine - are shot from above. They look almost double in size in the photos than they actually are. I ordered two tacos, my daughter ordered three. We also ordered the Esquites appetizer. We left still hungry. If it wasn't for the nacho chips , that were suggested by the server to go with the Esquites, we would've been starving. We both ordered the Pollo Verde taco and the Short Rib taco. My daughter also had the Fish taco, which she didn't finish due to not caring for it much. As far as the flavor of tacos - they're ok. The short rib and the chicken were both dry and lacking in flavor. The tiny shells fell apart - so eating with the hands became very messy. One of my favorite taco places! Always delicious and a good time. Their service is friendly and the atmosphere is lively. They have a mix of bar seating, high tops, and picnic table style seating inside and a cute rooftop and patio outside as well. If you're a queso fan, you have to try theirs! They also have delicious salsas. On Tuesday we love their $3 tacos, but other days I tend to get their carnitas taquitos. Everything tastes great. Best taco and margaritas in Cincy! We came here some food per our friend recommendation. It was described as ,"You can choose anything on the menu, and it will be good!" Little did I know that this place will blow my mind. Their margaritas are housemade on the rocks. It is very tasty and very strong. Be careful. It's so tasty you won't even know you're drinking alcohol-but in a good way. I had the pineapple margarita that had a pineapple wedge. It immediately brought me back to the beach! The tacos, I recommend their short ribs and al pastor. Both were meaty, juicy, and delightful. Also, we had the short rib queso. As a cheese lover, it has been broiled with crumbled queso fresco on top and radish slices. I asked for an extra side of pickled peppers and radishes - that my friends were game changers! The flavor and textures were a perfect dance in my mouth. Moreover, the service was superb! Our waitress was attentive and introduced us to the menu. She even split the margarita into two smaller glasses for my date and I to share. The manager was super sweet, too. But coming from a place where there are so many options for tacos, the tacos were ok. I really thought the service should have been better though. Went on a weekday and the only seating they had was at a bar, so definitely keep that in mind and make a reservation if you have a bigger group. Service was good and quick.
