I RARELY write reviews, and when I do they're because I was incredibly impressed with something. Unfortunately, that's not the case here. I am currently hospitalized for a high risk pregnancy and ordered to go food from this establishment in a pitiful attempt to make my husband's birthday a little brighter given our current circumstances. It was delivered to the hospital, I opened the order, and we were missing one of our entrees. Of course this is less than ideal, but these things happen and we aren't unreasonable people. I called the restaurant hoping to find a resolution, but they said the entree was in the bag. When looking at the restaurant receipt vs what I was charged, it appears the restaurant just didn't make two entrees. We asked for and paid for two "Barzon Burritos" and only received one. They didn't offer to remove the charge or make it right in any way. Huge bummer. read more

The tostadas de ceviche were delicious! The shrimp was fresh and tender and the mix was refreshing. I ordered the combo with enchilada, tamale, and rice and beans for $13. This is not my favorite Mexican food ever, but is a solid dinner spot. My friend also ordered a combo, but didn't like that the burrito was filled with mostly just ground beef and nothing else. Our server was nice, and the place was surprisingly empty, perhaps due to the cold. The first time I came in the summer, every booth was filled. Its location on Ludlow makes it a convenient place to grab a meal. read more

Ordered for pickup! It's a bit hard to find parallel parking unless you park a few blocks away. I got the Guadalajara special which was a tamal, 2 taquitos, and nachos. I had no idea it came with nachos as the description wasn't clear. It was a lot of food! I liked the nachos but the chicken in the taquitos were dry. And I liked the sauce on the tamal even though the texture was kinda off. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. But it's just decent. Prob better options around here. Chips and salsa were good though. read more

This used to be a good not great place to get some Mexican food. My family has tried giving the benefit of the doubt that it was a not so good experience. Tried going back. I think the restaurant could need some help. The server said they had new cooks the night we were there and it showed. The food was subpar and the service was okay. Started with the chips and salsa. The salsa was okay. They should make their own in house. The nachos has some cheese sauce that wasn't very good and the shrimp was undercooked. Still raw in the middle. The enchiladas were very small and bland tasting. The chili relleno was very small and overcooked. I don't like posting bad reviews. I think the place needs a person to go in and revamp the recipes and make it a place when you walk out of there with people saying that it was a great place to get some authentic Mexican food. We didn't experience that at all. But, we will probably go back in 6 months and see if it is better. We will see. read more

The food is good. I regularly order the Aztec soup; each time, the size of the avocado is smaller. The service in the restaurant is very good! I am disappointed with the owner as they do not update website prices. I ordered today the Aztec soup, to pick up. The soup price on the website was $8.99, and to my surprise when I picked it up, I was charged $10.99. This is not right, this is misleading and not to be honest with the customer. I've order from here about 4 times. The first time I ordered camarones a la diabla, chicken soup and enchiladas. Everything was great they paid attention to the note Sadly the last two times it was a complete disappoint. It barely had any shrimp or salsa it was mostly a few shrimps in beans. Overall a great experience, I placed a pickup order for 7 people. They labeled and packaged each person's order individually, which made distribution with our department fast and easy - no guess work on which item goes to who. All orders were correct and the man I spoke with when I called was very helpful. The food itself was very good, I had the super quesadilla, which was beautifully cheesy, had a reasonable amount of sautéed onions and green peppers, and the meats(steak, chicken and shrimp) were all properly cooked - nothing was over or under prepared. The quesadilla was ripped with lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole. I was so excited about finally getting lunch around 1:30 pm that I forgot to snap a pic They also sent chips and salsa with each of our meals, which was a pleasant surprise for everyone; except one of my coworkers that ordered chips and salsa(so she had 2 orders in her bag), because they didn't inform me when I called the order in that chips and salsa were included. read more

This place is ok. Not bad but not great. We had dinner here last night before seeing a movie next door. My husband had a combo meal of Chili Relleno, Enchilada and Taco. I ordered the Seafood Molcajete. The complimentary chips & salsa were ok. The chips were fresh but the salsa was fairly bland. My husband said his meal was pretty good. My entree was alright. Not great. It's served in a molcajete, stays piping hot and is served with warm tortillas and toppings. It was too much for me to finish. Although, it does look like more food than it is because of the molcajete is very thick and more shallow than I first thought. I was pleased to find hot food on Ludlow after a concert at the Ludlow Garage. Fantastic, really. it was like 9:30 or 10:30 at night. The service was very good - I think my server had the entire restaurant but was there when i needed her and handled special requests competently. Almost every item I ordered came out...well, a little odd, but ok I suppose: Black beans side -- LOTS of them. No spicing of any kind. Skyline does it this way as well. Weird but ok I guess. Chili - what I was in the mood for, obviously not a house specialty but a little lame. A layer of refried beans, topped with ground beef in a light self-sauce, with red sauce over that. Overall, VERY SALTY. So salty. Almost inedible until I added the black beans. Almost no flavor, so I don't get it.. Side of tomatoes requested as a garnish -- tons, appreciated. White con queso dip - TERRIFIC with the corn chips. Must hit a salt bliss point for me or something. So good. (Oddly, the perfection was ruined when i tossed in any tomatoes.) Anyway, so good, get that. :) Complementary salsa was super thin. I've seen this elsewhere...guess it's the standard. Ambience was enjoyable. Lots of cozy booths. I am a big fan of this place. It's not the best Mexican food in Cincinnati, but the service and food options are great! During Covid, I've been loving their to-go margaritas and always a fan of their Burrito Barzon, and the Pollo con Arroz, or the Pollo con Hongos. When in doubt, when we want to go out for dinner on a Friday, but we're not exactly sure where, it's usually a safe bet that we will end up with Mexican food. We have our trusty favorites, but heaven knows I crave trying new things, so we decided to give Los Potrillos on Ludlow a try. I drive by them virtually every day on the way to/from work. I think their lack of a parking lot has always been one factor that made us hesitate stopping there; it's a bit of hunt to find parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the strip of shops on Ludlow. Inside, it's actually pretty sizable - and so are their margaritas. $7.99 for lime margaritas that day! I just had a cheese and mushroom quesadilla, and my husband had potato enchiladas. If you have a large group, this is the place for you. I've developed somewhat of an addiction to this place -- as it encompasses classic Mexican flare, has fast, nice service and moderate prices. If I had to knock it, it can appear a tad overpriced, but it's decent for how much food you get. Compared to other local places, Los Potrillos is a steal. Good, friendly customer service and despite my Chevy's expectations, the food was good too. I had a steak fajita quesadilla and added jalapeños. Their sangria Margarita seemed maybe like a strange idea, but served in the large glass it comes in, it got better and better! Their burritos and chile relleno are hits with my coworkers, too. I'll be back, maybe to try their happy hour. One star off because it's not the authentic style I crave, but they do what they do well. I'm not one to be a picky eater (or even leave Yelp reviews), but I had to speak up about this place because it's so consistently awful! Because I live just a couple blocks away, I keep giving this place a chance. That's a mistake on my part. Atmosphere and service is good, but man... The food here just straight up sucks. I've been here three times with different people each time, and literally all but one person I've dined with has been disappointed. And considering that the food quality is worse than Taco Bell, it's laughable what they charge. I had the worst burrito of my life here, my friend who tried it laughed and said "I feel so sorry for you." I feel sorry for myself too, that awful burrito was like 12-14 dollars. Me and a friend went for margaritas during HAPPY HOUR and specifically asked for the happy hour special and our waiter suggested we get pitchers... since he suggested that, we figured that meant they were on happy hour special since we asked for it. After getting our check, the margs were NOT on special and the manager immediately called the cops assuming that we would not pay for our food. AWFUL service and was disappointed that the manager immediately called the cops without giving us a chance to pay after we complained the our server misinterpreted what we initially wanted. read more
