    Chicken Doner
    Anna P.

The food here is delicious and always fresh. The owner is always giving suggestions on how to spice up the doner - adding fries or bbq, etc. I always get the chicken doner ( as is - it doesn't need to be altered) and an order of fries - the fries are definitely a LARGE order. I've never gotten cold or unappealing food. The hours seem to vary depending on the season. There is seating available nearby with a beautiful view of Cincinnati.

    My "dönerito"
    Susan C.

Directly outside the Newport Aquarium sits a food court with a few restaurants and other food establishments. The menu on the outside of the Döner House food truck called my name. A photo of the Chicken Döner on the side of the truck showed pita bread stuffed with large chunks of crispy chicken, slices of purple onion, halved cherry tomatoes and lettuce, all covered with tzatziki sauce. $11.99. Well, that's not what I got. Instead my chicken döner came wrapped in a 10" flour tortilla. I had ordered tomatoes, onion, lettuce, onions, feta cheese and tzatziki sauce to accompany the meat. Sadly, my room-temperature flour tortilla was filled with small, salted chicken chunks, the equivalent of one black olive, small bits of white onion, a few pieces of tomato, maybe a sprinkle of chopped lettuce and a little tzatziki sauce. The cook had wrapped the tortilla in foil and cut it in half, and when I opened up one half to look for feta cheese, there was none. So I sat outside at a wet but clean and brightly-colored picnic table (it had been raining) and ate my half Mexican- half Turkish döner (a dönerito?) and drank my $2.00 bottle of purified water until a fly took a nosedive inside the bottle and went for a swim. My spouse's lamb döner was equally lackluster and also sans any feta cheese.

Great falafel! The Greek fries could use some sort of sauce or even olive oil drizzle to bind the feta and oregano to the fries better.

Food: 5/5 Dishes are explained as slightly larger plates than tapas style. My favorites: Wood Grilled Octopus, Crispy Falafel, Bouillabaisse. Love the Moroccan Mint Tea as well! Service: 4.7/5 Very friendly! They course out your plates for you which I always love. They were able to accommodate my pescatarian diet (I.e., meats on the side to give to others at the table). On a less busy night, they offered a free toast for my birthday. I've been for other celebratory dinners here on busier nights where that hasn't happened, so it was a lovely surprise! Ambiance: 4/5 A little busy and can get loud on the weekends with table chatter, cutlery clinks, and the brick walls echoing noise around. Tables are also close together, so you can definitely hear the conversation next to you. The decor is pleasant and the lighting is soft and romantic enough that it is still a perfect date night spot! There are also a couple larger crescent booths for larger parties.

We discovered this place nearby our hotel and were looking for a good brunch spot. The reviews and…read moremenu looked good so we gave Maplewood Kitchen a try. The space is open, bright and well decorated making it very inviting for brunch. You order at the counter from the menus placed along the wall then food is delivered to your table. The various brunch items all sounded very inviting so I was having trouble deciding what to order. So I got a recommendation to try the Shakshuka. Not sure how to pronounce it but when it arrived it was just the right portion and quite tasty for brunch. It's a bowl with a red pepper sauce and feta cheese and kale along with eggs sunny side up. The dish is served with pita so you can do a little bit of dipping in the tasty sauce. To accompany our food we selected the mimosa service and bloody mary pitcher. A pitcher is just perfect for sharing. And the mimosa service was delightful. The server arrived with a bottle of Prosecco and small carafes of orange, grapefruit and blood orange juices to mix yourself. The food was fresh and tasty with prompt delivery of our food to our table. Not quite a full service restaurant since you have to order at the counter but still a nice experience located downtown.
