The amount of times I've driven across the river to get Golden Gelato is laughable at this point. They are always friendly and will let you try a couple samples. The flavors are great and love the new flavors weekly to sprinkle in with the staples. The texture is so smooth! My wife and I enjoy sitting at the window seat in the main shop, but plenty of extra seats in the space attached. I almost didn't want to review because I want to gate keep but this place is just amazing and I think everyone should try it. read more

My son and his friends enjoy outings to Covington. After taking me out for a Mother's Day Brunch, we walked about a block away because he thought I would really enjoy the gelato at Golden Gelato. It was a quaint shop with all of these wonderful flavors. Truly, it's hard to decide. I sampled two flavors and got a medium-sized container with a scoop of Biscoff and a scoop of Pistachio. They are two of my favorites and they did not disappoint. The Biscoff gelato is smooth and creamy with a light cookie flavor. You get a bit of cinnamon and caramel, like the taste of a Biscoff cookie. Pistachio Gelato was delicious. The pistachio flavor is soft and real--not fake or too strong. It's simple, smooth, and a nice change if you're in the mood for something less sugary. There was an indoor seating area there, so we opted for that. I will definitely be back to try many of their other offerings. read more

I'm so glad this little gem is part of our community! The best gelato I've ever had! The shop has rotating weekly flavors which keeps it more exciting. The workers were super kind and let us sample different flavors. We sampled pistachios, hazelnut and stracciatella (chocolate chip). All were amazing but we ended up going home with a pint of the pistachios. The flavors are vibrant and the gelato is super creamy. They also sell pints at St. Francis Apizza in Hyde Park too. read more

Easily some of the best gelato I've had -- fresh ingredients, rotating flavors, and perfect texture. The store may look humble on the outside, but this place is the real deal. Simple setup when you walk in with the fridge straight ahead. We were greeted warmly by the staff and they gave explanations for many of the flavors that were available. They genuinely seemed excited to share what they had to offer with us. We ordered the Fiore di latte, dark chocolate, berry cheesecake. Every flavor was a banger. Deep, rich, and creamy with strong flavor. You honestly probably couldn't go wrong with any of their flavors. Will definitely be back when we are craving gelato! I'm a big fan of gelato, especially pistachio gelato. Golden Gelato's Sicilian Pistachio is excellent, you can really taste the true flavor of pistachio. The texture is nice and creamy. Small batch, local owned, very friendly, and a good assortment of seasonal and classic flavors. We ended up getting a pint so we could enjoy more at home. Their prices are quite reasonable for the quality too. read more

Yum Yum Yum! You need to get to this hidden gem! This is a place we have been wanting to try, and we stopped in on a rainy day during their season-opening week. The Biscoff gelato was simply delicious! We also got the Hokey Pokey: Honey vanilla gelato with homemade honeycomb candy. Amazing! My daughter and I were in the mood for a delicious dessert on a beautiful day. We decided to try Golden Gelato and were very pleased with our choice! My daughter decided on the Biscoff and the blueberry mascarpone in the waffle cone (that is what drew us in the first place, the smell of the fresh cones being made...). The gelato was perfect, the flavors were so fresh and delicious. I asked if we could buy the cones to take home.... They're that good!! I ordered one scoop of the black cherry/chocolate cake flavor (forget the original name) and it was insanely delicious! We will be back to try the rotating flavors and they also have a super cute game room/sitting room that is connected called "the lounge" and there were nice sitting areas and games! Best. Gelato. Ever. This is my go-to for any time I want some kind of frozen dessert. Their options always rotate and they include seasonal options. The one flavor they have every day is biscoff, which is great because it's my favorite. I've enjoyed the pistachio and stratachella flavors. They also include vegan options daily. Service is always excellent. It's a tiny place, but they have seating in the room next to theirs, as well as a couple of tables outside. Highly recommend. read more

Transport to Bella Italia without the scary, improbable, but mysteriously operable physics of Italian vehicular traffic. This is good stuff. Buonissimo, as they say. Choose traditional Italian flavors (see above) or local ones like Bourbon Old Fashioned or Pumpkin Spice. (See photo.) The friendly gelataio invited our dogs inside and offered them an Italian version of a pup cup --Fior di Latte -- milk gelato. Lucky dogs. (Golden Gelato also makes dog treats, the proceeds of which are donated to a local rescue.) Staff were friendly and helpful as they shared that their gelato flavors are updated weekly except for a few flavors that remain the same. Follow their page for new flavors! Golden Gelato is one of the more underrated joints in Cincinnati. I've never been to Italy, but I find it hard to believe that they're putting out a better product than what GG is doing here stateside. Consistently friendly folk who know their way around the cream. They put out their starting lineup every week and I challenge you to find a flavor that doesn't deserve a fist pump or two. On this occasion I got the Biscoff x Blueberry Basil combo to pay homage to my main man LaVar Ball and his beautiful family. Go support the only 513 cream that makes Graeter's look a little less special. Little spoon required. read more

Great little place! We went on a hot summer night, I searched on Gelato after dinner at Riverside Korean and found this place just a few steps away with a small crowd of folks just hanging out front, eating gelato. Service is friendly and efficient. Nice selection of flavors and even a few of sorbet. The gelato is really awesome, on par with anything you get in Italy. We stumbled upon this gem!!! Hubby and I love our gelato and when in Italy we have gelato once or even twice daily. We've missed it so much until now. We had a affogato and a waffle cone with their white coffee flavor. It was so good!!! Not overly sweet and very creamy. Their goat cheese flavor and pistachio was to die for. The waffle cones were crispy and tasted a bit of cinnamon. Loved their space too. They have a whole room next door with comfy chairs and tables and games. Delicious! I thought Dojo was my favorite, this gelato is unbelievable. Crema flavor was my favorite! The owner was nice and seemed to really enjoy working behind the counter. They have plenty of seating, which makes it very convenient. I went with my husband but would cross the Ky bridge any day for 1 more scoop. I will bring my kids next time. read more

You have to check this place out if you're in the Covington area! The lovely owners were working and were so helpful and personable. Although there are only about ten flavors of gelato/sorbet at a time, I hear that they rotate through flavors. So you'll have to come back at different times to enjoy them all (I see you marketing strategy )! I got the dark chocolate and stracciatella (basically chocolate chip). Very yummy and even though I got the smallest serving size, I was still able to pick two flavors. Also, using the little spoon helps to enjoy it longer! There's a bit of seating in the main area, more in this other room on the right and some outside. Not a ton of seating, so our larger group just gathered outside and enjoyed the night. read more

Better than ever. I finally got to stop by again and had a chocolate chip gelato and a salted caramel gelato. Both were some of the best I ever had. Just to let you know it's $4.25 for one flavor and $5 for two flavors. Go for two. Service is always very friendly and helpful. Do note that there is meter parking just outside the business. The first 15 minutes are free but you can go back outside to push the button again to get another 15 minutes. There is a pay lot across the street but they charge too much and I was cautioned to not use it. By the way I finished my gelato in less than 15 minutes. It's that good. read more

Amazing! I came here with my family on a Sunday night. The owners, husband and wife duo, were still churning out fresh batches of gelato! They were the sweetest people, and you can tell they're passionate about what they do. Between the three of us, we got salted caramel, white coffee, biscoff, dark chocolate sorbet, and campfire s'mores. They were all amazing. The dark chocolate sorbet is not like fruit sorbets you're probably thinking of. It's super rich, creamy, fudgy, and velvety smooth. It reminded me of ganache! I also tasted the lemon cookie, which was delicious as well. My family and I can't wait to come back! This will probably be a regular spot for us. Update: we came back two days later! We tried the blueberry mojito sorbet, blueberry mascarpone, and malted Oreo! They were all amazing. An old-looking part of Covington holds this gelato store. Seems like they're making things fresh. They didn't actually label their gelato, so I had to get the flavors explained. They had a good mix, including the all-important mint chip as well as some classic fruit candy flavors. The goat cheese and blueberry delivered a robust flavor mix. My mint chip had the sort of fine bittersweet chocolate flakes one gets from Italian places. And for the quality of gelato I got, it was a good amount for the price. They had some tables on the sidewalk if you wanted to eat there. read more

There are big fudgey chocolate chunks throughout and the consistency is super creamy; definitely don't skip this flavor! We also tried a "nectar soda," which to me, seemed like vanilla ice cream with cream soda--it was non-memorable. We ordered a variety of entrees, but the highlight was definitely the pho. The broth tasted very close to what you'd find in California and even Vietnam, which was a pleasant surprise. Really rich, balanced, and comforting. The only downside was the lack of fresh herbs on the side. It only came with a dish of bean sprouts, so it felt like it was missing that extra freshness that usually completes a bowl of pho. Service was amazing, mostly students from UC. But everyone was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Parking was pretty easy, which made the whole experience even smoother. Overall, still a solid spot, especially if you're craving pho that tastes authentic.
