If you're looking for absolutely delicious ice cream, Simply Rolled is your new favorite spot, I promise. We had vanilla, and vegan chocolate with several mix-ins and toppings. Both were delicious, but the vegan chocolate was out of this world. Better than any regular chocolate ice cream I've had. It's so creamy. I suggest getting mix-ins, and toppings. If you only get toppings, there is only a little room on top, and then once you eat the first few bites, you have just plain ice cream for most of the bowl. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful. All allergens are clearly marked on the menu, which I very much appreciate. There were plenty of vegan/dairy free and gluten free options! My daughter has a couple allergies, and the employee was happy to explain and answer questions. The bowls were $9, but they easily feed 2 people in my opinion. Even if you don't split a bowl, it's a fair price for the quality of ingredients, the good vibes and staff, and the fun of watching it being made right in front of your eyes. I had a very disappointing experience at Simply Rolled in Cincinnati. Yesterday, I ordered a rolled ice cream with a chocolate base, mixed with Nutella and strawberry, and asked for strawberry, banana, Nutella, and raspberry as toppings. First of all, they didn't have the chocolate base, but no one informed me. Instead, they just used vanilla ice cream mixed with Nesquik cocoa a completely different flavor and not what I asked for. On top of that, they replaced raspberries with blueberries (again, without telling me), and didn't add any Nutella on top as requested. What's worse is that they made all these changes without saying a word or giving me a choice. That's not acceptable. I don't even want to give one star it's a shame. I will never go back, and I definitely don't recommend this place to anyone. If you care about getting what you actually order, this is not the place for you. read more

Rolled ice cream is a great concept, but truth be told, it doesn't taste anything too different than regular ice cream. It's really just a more cumbersome process of making it I think! There's different combination that you can try and I did try the green tea + berries and thought it was a bit too sweet for my taste. But, that wasn't too surprising, as I think condensed milk was part of the things that was mixed into the rolled ice cream as well. Overall, the ice cream was ok. I really wished I could taste more of a green tea in an ice cream. I also wished there's a bit more toppings given the price (they put a bit of blue berries in the rolled ice cream as well..but probably not more than a few of them). If you've never tried it, by all means, give this shop a chance and try it. It's a little pricey for $7.99, but that's how inflation affected pricing everywhere nowadays. You can call ahead to order, yet the two folks that I noticed come in for their call ahead orders were informed their ice cream wasn't ready and they would need to wait as well. Oh, and there were about 6 DoorDash orders that the workers would alternate preparing between the orders for the customers in the store. With only two people working, they were visibly stressed and overwhelmed. Preparing a single bowl takes about 6-7 minutes I'd guess. When a party of four walked in, I could see the dread in one of the worker's eyes as he glanced at the clock. I truly felt bad for them. They need help. Yes, it was a busy Friday night, but this is always the case anytime I visit. Even on weeknights. My wife received her order first and waited, and waited, and waited for mine to be ready so we could enjoy together. It somewhat ruined the experience. Not to mention the overall vibe of a bunch of people sitting around awkwardly also thinking "wow, this is taking forever." If you're going to implement a business where each serving takes about 8-10 minutes per customer including payment, hire the appropriate amount of staff to facilitate that structure. Seriously, there's no limit to what you can top your choice with. It's super busy and kind of small, but they do have 4 separate rolling stations so it moves at a reasonable pace. I was shivering. Unfortunately, they have no seating outside so you have to deal with the temp or walk and eat. Not so easy with a toddler. Other negative: the rolls really keep their ice cold temperature, I had a hard time eating the rolls. I found that I had to wait a few minutes for it to melt first. Not really a big deal but noteworthy, it's hard to just dig on in. If I was ever in OTR and wanted (pricey) ice cream, I'd come back, mostly because it really did taste delicious. It's among the many novelty ice cream shops around. It is different however, it reminded me of Cold Stone where you can mix your favorite toppings in fresh ice cream. I was cautiously optimistic about Simply Rolled Ice Cream. Part of me I was worried that this would just be a gimmick. The other part of me was excited to try rolled ice cream. The liquid base and mix-ins are worked over a cooling plate until the liquid solidifies. The ice cream is then shaped into a rectangle. The roll-in of your choice is drizzled over the ice cream. From there, the concoction is rolled into the signature shape. Unlimited toppings may be added. I was really impressed with the flavor. Rather than one of their listed Creations I opted for the create your own option. I did matcha green tea base, with almonds and raspberries for mix-ins, lavender honey for the roll-in, and blueberries as a topping. The ice cream was rich and creamy. Having it rolled adds extra aeration; it really helps you taste the different flavors. The amount of matcha flavoring was just enough. Fresh raspberries added a bit of tartness. Allmonds added a bit of texture. To my delight, the lavender honey did not meld into the ice cream. It acted as little bursts of sweetness. Blueberries were the icing on the cake, so to speak. Simply Rolled is a short walk from Washington Park. When the park gets too hot, walk over to Simply Rolled and enjoy a sweet treat. read more

Once the creamy base is poured over them, it gets mixed with optional goodies and then turns into a thin layer of ice cream, that can be scraped off into yummy tubes and topped with whatever you wish for. The customization options are endless, from different flavors of the base, through mix-ins, to toppings. They have some suggested options that are always good too. Now, in October, they offer a seasonal pumpkin flare. Once you choose what you want, you need to be very patient and wait in line, and the line is always there. The wait time is the only downside, but they always have 3 people on 3 freezing plates working non stop. It is fairly laborious to prepare each portion, so even though it comes at $6.50 per cup, I always tip generously, as it is not the same as scooping some gelato from a container. You know, the "we saw this thing in another market and decided to do it in Cincinnati because it was poppin'" - but once the trend fades away, usally so does the business.. Yummy & fun rolled ice cream! My friends and I came here on a soft opening night around 8:30, and there was no line. However, by the time we left there was a line of 15 people. When we walked in, every employee greeted us with smiles! We each placed our orders and then the workers one by one called our names so we could watch them make our selections. It was cool to watch the plain vanilla base magically transform before your eyes into rolls of ice cream filled with your toppings!! There's only one size and you can choose a combo are a few tables inside so you don't have to take your ice cream to go, which is nice.
