The original Oakley location is such a gem and we always appreciate visiting with guests to Cincinnati and telling them a bit of the Aglamesis story! It's nice that the story is on the back of the menus, so locals and guest alike can get a sense of the amazing history! This location could have any quality of food and I would still enjoy a visit because the ambience and decor is so fun and cute! The outside façade of the restaurant as well as the branding have been recently updated, but the inside is straight out of the 1950s. All of the pink, chrome, soda fountain vibes are so fun. And it's such a treat to visit such a vintage spot in 2026! One of Cincinnati's true gems. The ice cream is consistently delicious! It doesn't compete with the other Cincinnati family brand in my opinion, but the diversity of the menu keeps me coming back. I got a pineapple mint ice cream soda, which was surprisingly refreshing and a really good balance of fruity and creamy. My husband got a sundae, which we felt was a little small compared to some of the other menu items - our friends got malts and had a whole other cup of malt available in the stainless steel cup that came on the side. I couldn't help but notice the portion size of that was inconsistent with some of the other items, and I made a plan to split a mall next time for a great value! First time going here, as my husband has such fond memories of the one on Montgomery. Old fashioned ice cream parlor with a lot of unique offerings from sundaes, to shakes and more. They were quite busy, but we were able to get service quickly. Once our ice cream came however, my husband's looked perfect, but mine was practically soup. I stopped the waitress and asked for one like my husband's, as mine was melted. She went back to the manager, and a few minutes later, the manager came back with a slightly less soupy sundae. She slammed it down, giving me a nasty look. When we went to pay, I thanked her profusely for making a new one, apologized for even returning the ice cream soup, but shared I didn't expect it to be melted ice cream. She ignored me, smiled at my husband and took our payment. I understand the restaurant business, and am genuinely empathetic when equipment fails, but her customer service was HORRIBLE. She was rude, indifferent and awful. I will never go back to that location. I hope our experience someday at the one in Montgomery is better. My husband felt bad, as he was excited to introduce me to a new place. People who are that rude should not be in customer service. I couldn't believe it - an old-fashioned ice cream parlor where you can sit down at a table, order your confection and have it brought to you! The menu has lots of variety: scoops, sundaes, sodas and floras, banana splits- you name it! We sat at the cute tables in the back of the shop, which was decorated with mirrors and pink and white wallpaper. We both ordered single scoop sundaes, served in a traditional cold metal dish. His was hot fudge with nuts, mine butterscotch and sprinkles. Good stuff! And our server was very nice and quick. Street parking. I'm gonna be honest though: the 4 stars are mostly in respect for the history of the place, the ability to sit and order like the "old days" (note: this was even before my time -- and you can order at the counter and take away if you want here now too), and the cute, old fashioned decor. And because of the dad who brought his little daughter in and were having a "fancy" ice cream together. Ice cream wise, I would normally want cold, firm ice cream (ours were tasty but a little melty). And our server mentioned they make their whipped cream in house every day which I really like the idea of! But it too was melty, more like a heavy cream on top of our sundaes. Maybe need to re-whip the whipped cream before serving, or make smaller batches multiple times per day. But what do I know! I'm not an ice cream shop operator-- I'm just an ice cream eater! The shop is in a fairly anonymous suburban stretch, and I was a bit mystified with the doors (try the one on the left), but had a strong retro vibe inside. I tried a couple of flavors. They had mint chip, which is mine, but I also noted a couple of other flavors with chocolate chips in them, which seems like a Cincinnati thing, and I'm all in favor of it. The chips in my mint were fine flecks; the mint flavor itself was that alcoholic mint extract taste. The cherry wasn't quite as strong as I'd like, and both were more about the cream itself. It was a bit weird that they actually charged more for getting a cup, I assume because they put more ice cream in the cup then they'd be able to balance on top of a cone. The candy selection smelled nice, but I'd had enough sugar for the day. I liked it, but I still haven't found an ice cream in this area that blew me away. read more
