    Lemon Lavender White Chocolate

Delicious chocolate company with great service! We walked in to sample and purchase a quick treat. The truffles look beautiful and the chocolate was well made. We purchased the lemon lavender bar.

Walked in here while on a mission to bring home some vegan chocolate for my bestie from my trip and upon googling, this place came up as my top choice. First and foremost, the cleanliness is immaculate. Second, the staff and the owner are so warm and friendly. We had the pleasure to briefly speak with the owner. He greeted us and asked if we had a question and upon replying to us, he emit such strong energy that it was undeniable this is truly the passion and true love of the chocolatier. We were wow-ed by his extensive knowledge, like he explained how he sourced his ingredients and that their vegan chocolate are pure vegan in comparison to the ones that are usually sold in stores that make claims as vegan chocolate but usually the sugar that's used isn't processed the true vegan way, as in using (cow) bone-char to decolorize the sugar. I thought it was super interesting to learn, certainly did not know that. The store itself has beautiful glass cases to showcase the beautiful artsy work-of-art truffles and across the room you can find many variations of their chocolate bars. The chocolate factory is located at the back of the store where they offer tour so you can learn and watch how the chocolate is made. I got a take-out box and grabbed some of their truffles, some vegan version and some for myself. I truly love their truffles, so was my bestie with the vegan ones. They were all truly a big hit!! The truffles were honestly almost too pretty to eat! From all that I got to enjoy, I love the Lemon Raspberry the most! I highly recommend this place. The chocolates are absolutely incredible.

This is a little location in a big shopping plaza- my friend noticed it as we were leaving and did the ooooOOOoooohhhh chocolate so I told her to park and lets go in! This is not my first experience with an artisan chocolate company~ I love places like this! When you enter you are greeted by a bright, clean store with a giant cocoa bean in a bowl on the first table you see, the wall tot he right is filled with specialty chocolate bars and samples for each one! I think a dozen different bars. There is a huge bi-plane model hanging from the ceiling & an antique looking candy mixer machine thingy in the corner. Then you loop around to the display case for my favorites- truffles! Beautiful chocolate art! I choose three- the bourbon truffle, banana foster truffle and the lemon-raspberry. Because I am a Yelp-dork and checked in I got a first time visit coupon for a free truffle with any purchase! Woot woot. The banana foster truffle was the best! Loved that one, but I also enjoyed every moment of the other two truffles. I did sample numerous bars and thought the white-chocolate lavender was delightful! I was very surprised. I also had a wonderful conversation with the employee- very friendly, informative and simply a wonderful experience.

I was staying in Cincinnati for a month for work, and I was surprised to find a craft chocolate spot that I had never heard of. I am always checking out small natural, fair trade chocolate companies, but had never heard of Maverick. My friend and I first saw the location near Findlay market, and when I found out there was another store which is where the chocolate is made, I knew I wanted to go there. We booked a tour, which I highly recommend. The son of the founder was the one who gave us a tour. It was really interesting, but even more impressive how small scale this business truly is. I have tried SO many natural chocolate brands, and Maverick is definitely one of the best chocolate bars I've ever tried. They crush the cacao beans for 4 days to get their chocolate as smooth and creamy as it is. This store is beautiful, and they have samples of everything. Some of my favorites are Lemon Lavender, Dark Milk, and 513. The truffles are really a work of art. Everyone is so nice and I love that you can see the passion and care behind the brand. The price will be high if you've never had small batch, fair trade, quality chocolate (I'm not talking about Godiva, who uses forced labor in their supply chain and uses crappy ingredients), however, it's extremely reasonable for this quality, a traceable supply chain, and top notch deliciousness. Almost every chocolate brand sold in stores uses forced child labor and has questionable ingredients. I bought 7 bars, 2 truffles, and a frozen chocolate between my 2 visits to both locations and don't regret any of it. My mom and boyfriends mom also agreed that it might be the best chocolate they ever had. I will definitely be ordering online from NY once I finish everything for myself and gifts. Do not miss this spot in Cincinnati!!! Such a gem

So, this place is pricey. But oh my goodness - their chocolate is worth it! I stopped by last week for the first time, and the gentleman who was there was so nice, I wish I had gotten his name. It was near closing time, but he gave me the history of the store, let me try multiple samples and was overall very personable. I specifically went because I wanted to try the Hawaiian Coffee Dark Chocolate (I had been given a sample at a farmer's market from the "Made Like Iron" coffee company that Maverick partners with, so I knew I needed to visit the chocolate store). I don't even like coffee, and I love this chocolate bar! Whereas some chocolate makes me feel like I can eat the whole bar, I ate two squares of this and was completely content and satisfied. I also tried one of their chocolate chip cookies because I love rating ones that I find around Cincy. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE REVIEW Texture: Chewy/Crunchy Taste: Salty Types of Chips: Chunks Appearance: Thick Size: As big as my hand Price: $3.00 Temperature: Best warm Personal Rating: 3 Stars This was definitely a sea salt cookie (which I love) but it was a little on the crunchy side, so I warmed it up. Had a it been a little softer/chewier, I may have given it a higher rating, but I did get it at the end of the day, so that very well might have added to that! All around good cookie though.

As much as I wanted to like their second location I must say I wasn't completely impressed. I've gone to their original location in Findlay Market a few times. When I originally had their chocolate I thought it was good and homemade and had a good taste. My favorite flavors were the White Chocolate Nibs and Salted Bourbon Chocolate Bar. However, I don't come to them often because one bar of chocolate is $9 or $10. Although their chocolate is good I don't feel it's $9-$10 a bar worth. I had seen this location and wanted to give them a try since I hadn't been to the Findlay location in awhile. I was in the area so I stopped by. I was greeted by the wife owner (it's a husband and wife team). She was nice and answered questions I had. They always have samples out so I tried all the samples they had to offer. I couldn't decide between the White Chocolate Nibs Bar or the Salted Bourbon Chocolate Bar. I ended up choosing the White Chocolate Bar. I was excited to open and eat my chocolate as I remembered it being really good and the samples seemed to be the same taste I remembered. However, once I started eating my chocolate I just wasn't wowed. I was disappointed because I felt it wasn't worth the $9 or $10 I paid. Needless to say, for the amount I paid I ended up eating the entire bar within a few weeks to a month (eating a little here and there). While I was in this location I found out they give tours on their kitchen and chocolate making process. I did think this was neat if someone is interested in the chocolate making process. Also, if you check-in through Yelp you receive a free truffle with a purchase. I received my free truffle with my chocolate bar purchase. I don't remember the exact flavor I tried. It was decent. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best piece of chocolate ever. Overall, Maverick has decent chocolate but it is overpriced. When I had the chocolate bar this time around after not having it in about a year or so I wasn't impressed. I don't come here often because for chocolate it's expensive and the taste and quality didn't seem to hold up.

I came in here with my girlfriend one night because she was ranting and raving about how good this chocolate was. I'm not even a big chocolate person but this is probably the best chocolate I've ever had in my life. It's amazing. It's handcrafted and after talking to the owner, you can tell how passionate they are about making a quality product. They have about a dozen or so different chocolate bars to choose from. The good thing is, there is small samples of each chocolate to try before you buy. The chocolate is a little on the expensive side (I think they're $9) but once you see the product and try it, you'll see why. It's worth getting. They also have numerous truffles to choose from. I tried the salted Carmel last time and I loved it. If you check in on yelp, you get a free truffle! My girlfriend and I also split one of their frozen hot chocolate drinks. It's very good. Highly recommended. I was really impressed with this place. Next time you have a craving for some chocolate, stop by!

This is a beautiful store that offers impeccable customer service. The chocolate is delicious and the chocolatier does a great job of explaining each item.

    peanut butter truffle

If you are a chocolate lover, you absolutely have to check out Maverick chocolate! There is something so special about their chocolate and the atmosphere that they create in their stores, both Findlay and this location. The people who work there are always ready to help you find the perfect bar for you. Their chocolate is a lot more of an experience than something like a Hershey's bar and it is to be savored and not eaten all at once. They have a tasting guide on the inside flap of every chocolate bar that they sell, so I think of it as the same way as having a fine wine where you want to really make it last. Recently, I tried the peanut butter truffle and for something that sounds so simple, there was a lot of complexity in the flavors of the chocolate and the peanut butter outside of what one may think. There was a great crisp and the chocolate melted immediately upon me biting into it. My boyfriend is a big fan of the dark chocolate espresso bar and if you are a fan of deep flavors, this will definitely be for you. One of the best parts about this place is how knowledgeable the staff is in their product and they also provide little nibs of their different bars, so you do not have to commit to buying the bar and being unsure as to whether you will like it. It is one of my favorite places to get a treat for myself or anyone in my family and I will definitely keep returning to support this great business!

The staff is welcoming and is generous with the tastings: four of us tried around ten flavors in all! It was a hot day, so this was our last stop by the market, so it would not melt on the way home. We got some bold Rüya dark 65% chocolate, flavored with Turkish espresso, with a touch of traditional cardamom expressing welcome. The cardamom flavoring is milder in this chocolate than it is in mideast coffee. That works for us. We got two with mild bourbon flavors: the somewhat-sweet Prohibition, and the lightly-orange seasonally-available Old Fashioned (reminiscent of the cocktail). We also got some seasonal slightly-fruity limited-edition Thailand 70% chocolate, one of our favorites. And we grabbed an assortment of lighter and darker sweet creams and truffles. We used to watch the bean-grinder in action here. Last year moved it to a new factory on the Licking River across the river in Lexington KY, a town where they also opened a second retail location in 2024 that includes gelato! The aroma here is lovely and chocolatey and roasty. The chocolate is divine.

And indeed they did not make it. Hate I wasted money on these.
